Saw this today on Fox News Studio B w/ Shepard Smith. (I typed it up, summarizing and adding my own words here/there)
Cats Compete in New Reality Show..."The Meow Mix House"!! :hearts:
"The Meow Mix House" — a reality TV show that’s just about cats? Find out what the feline fuss is all about. One of the best parts of reality TV is the occasional cat fight! One new show should be full of them when Animal Plant puts 10 kitties under one roof to find out which one has the right stuff to land an executive level job with a cat food company.
"The Meow Mix House" debuts on Animal Planet this Friday June 16 at 9pm, and can be viewed LIVE at http://meowmixhouse.com . (No, Not kidding! It’s like the Big Brother House!! ) The shows are not the typical 1 hour, but rather they're aired in 3 minute segments on Animal Planet, and can also be viewed on the internet at your leisure.
• 10 cats will travel to NYC and live together under the same roof.
• Cats have been selected to compete in the Meow Mix House.
• Web cams will be located in every room of the home.
• Cats will be led through a variety of challenges (like the rigors of a Climb-a-thon & an art competition where they dip their paw in ink & walk on the canvas!)
• Cats will be evaluated on their performance.
• One cat will be evicted from the House everyday.
• Evicted cats will then be adopted into a permanent home.
• Winning cat will receive a job with Meow Mix Company!
• Viewers will vote cats out of “The Meow Mix House”.
Meow Mix Company, the Humane Society, and Animal Planet have collaborated to help homeless cats find a good place to live! When they get voted off, instead of going to work for Donald Trump, winning 1 Mil $$ or whatever, everybody wins! They get to live in a nice house!
Sounds to me like this short, but sweet show, will sweep the nation! :tup:
I bet all animal lovers will really get into it! And then watch…the dog lovers will “copy cat” (no pun) the show… because of course...a similar reality show for Dogs will evolve!
They must also get into the act and why not?! I love this new concept for helping homeless pets as well as the entertainment factor on TV and the WebCam! Cool! :hrt:

Yep, puddin, how lucky for sure! Whata great way to place homeless cats in good homes! Btw, the cats they'll use in the show are from shelters.

Strange show... you leave your cat with a bunch of other cats...do they get letters from home? Get to take special toys?
Okay no way my cat would "hang out" with 10 other cats. But hey someone has to get the job, so I would love to know how they screen the contestants? Do they make a video? Judged on their look ot make finaly ten?

Right, and to help them get adopted quicker, thus the Show & The Meow Mix House! Fox News didn't say it, but I'm thinking the chosen cats must've met certain criteria to qualify them to go on the show. Perhaps they were hand picked by the Meow Mix Company and/or Animal Planet? Not sure, but will try to find out! :waves:

Now, being a lover of Cats (and owning one too), I checked this show out and it was as lame as everyone predicted. It was only 2-3 minutes long and all it did was tell us that they were strays competing for a job. They only introduced the cats and told the viewers about next weeks competition involving climbing.
Also, I checked out the website, and they have live feeds to the cats' house. Not much is happening lately as you may expect cats aren't that active lol.

Well, my name is mud. I didn't watch it b/c I was taping 24 repeats.
But I checked out the Meow Mix House. Folks, this isn't a 1 hr TYPICAL reality show. If you go back and read the original post, it says it's only 3 min. And actually, it's like a commercial not only for Meow Mix, but to encourage people to adopt a cat from a local shelter....not just one of the 10 cats in the Meow Mix PROMOTION. There...I said it...that's the word!! PROMOTION. Whatever. :duno:

It's not the first time a reality show has advertized a product. Gotta love the Febreze Family Moment at the end of Survivor. Although, this show has taken that to the next level. I think I just coughed up a hairball.
