Probably cause so far, it seems like the full full leg, with relevant challenges in the form of 2 ARI, a detour and also RB. Set in a sequence, that if teams didn't get lost, seems that even u-turned teams might have been able to catch-up.

Really strong leg but the U-turn annoyed me. It should be after not before a detour :groan:

Agreed on all fronts.
Definitely, my only issue was with the Uturn board placement, otherwise, a very well designed leg.

They are. Didn't hate it this leg due to the hard Roadblock.

Well at least they didn't stick it right at the start of the leg, there's a task first. I'll give them that.
The US basically has them mad dash from the plane to the U-Turn.

I'm so disappointed in TAR Canada for adopting the Before-Detour U-Turn. Absolutely ridiculous. What is the reasoning for doing something like this? How is it better in any way? What a joke. That just knocked a whole star off of this season for me (Because I know they'll do it again for the second U-Turn)

Like the previous leg the best part (as most difficult) by far was the roadblock at the end. It's a dance where it's hard to go lenient on a team after a few tries because it's intricate and so obvious when someone does it wrong. It gave the u-turned teams a chance. Navigation drama as well, though it was more about taxi luck.
It looked like some didn't understand what a blind u-turn means, talking about not putting a target on their backs.
Some getting a bigger snake and some a smaller reminded me of the different sized birds of prey the previous leg, though I expect it wasn't that big a delay for teams. The leech sucking was funny though just for 5 minutes. The sewing had to be relatively simple to balance the leech/snake task, though in the classic period of the show contestants had to put together a full shirt. The durian fruit was prickly, though if they dropped any I think they should have been forced to start over.

Just rewatched the episode, and despite U-Turn board before actual U-Turn not being ideal, at least it was not the first thing after arrival, there were a few tasks before it.
The sewing detour (Kebaya) looked like the faster option, however it required some technical skills of using the sewing machine properly, otherwise it was quite simple of what was being required. The Ular side of the detour, was more laborious and took more time, but without the technical hurdle, only overcoming the challenge of dealing with snakes and leeches.
I am still surprised by how much Adam and Courtney are struggling in this race. Before the race started, they looked like a team with the outset that would be excelling in the race, instead they're mostly at the back of the pack, and close to being eliminated. Anna and Todd being U-Turned actually saved Adam and Courtney, as they also reached the mat close to each other.
It was a dancing RB, and most of the guys outshone the ladies who performed it. Dylan and Phil were outstanding and Todd was good enough that even when they arrived last at RB, they left shortly after Adam and Courtney who were one of the first to arrive.
As the preview already confirmed, next leg is back in Canada, directly to Stratford. Wonder where we are missing a leg in the Timeline. We all assumed it would be between Jakarta and Stratford, due to time available between filming, but it doesn't seem like it will be such.
Gotta assume whoever is eliminated next, will be due to the Uturn board that was spotted for one of the upcoming legs.

Really liked this leg (except the U-Turn being before the detour) but would it have change something?
I think both teams would have still use the U-Turn, and both teams finished their part of the u-Turn before the U-turned team showed up. I think maybe the only thing it would have changes is if Nancy/Melissa and Zainab/Monica would have pick a different team (like one that was directly after them, but who knows)
Love the dancing task, and the confusion about the phrase, who is handy! Everybody expecting a hand-manual task.. smart of Production.
I really love: Leanne/Mar, Taylor/Courtney, Martina/Phil
Like: Nancy/Melissa (I like them but sometime they are a bit awkward because they don't know each other as much), Zainab/Monica
Ok: Dylan/Kwame and Courtney/Adam
Sad for Todd/Anna because they were a great team, but at least they won a leg and some money.
U-Turning is part of the game... they are just unlucky that it happened on the first leg they were struggling

I agree with stunami that the 'who is handy? clue was good, the clues for the detour seemed more straightforward, though I suppose the leeches may not have been mentioned.

I loved the "Who is handy?" clue - they were all thinking handyman tasks not dancing.
I'm glad they didn't mention the leeches, how many would have changed over to the sewing task? As it was, the only two teams that did it had to because of the U-turn.

Episode 4
TARC's international legs have produced some of my favorite legs, and this leg did not disappoint. For me it worked both as an international leg and as a U-Turn leg. With regards to the U-Turn before the Detour, I didn't mind it in this situation. It was placed after an ARI, so it wasn't an award for teams with a fast taxi unlike TAR 30 Prague. Also, we had a difficult Roadblock that gave the U-Turned teams the opportunity to catch up. U-Turns before Detours are a mixed bag, but I think that they can be done well like this leg. Though I still think the most egregious placement of the U-Turn is right before the Pit Stop.
I get why they do one international leg in North America. But I still don't understand why they would put so much effort to fly out to SE Asia for only one leg. It is somewhat disappointing that they're returning to Canada so quickly.
How is this the first leg with both a Detour and a Roadblock?

Absolutely crazy that we had a tight race for first and last.
Durian: Starting the leg with a tedious task in hot weather. :tup:
Snake: Cleaning the snake was fine but the leeches were pretty funny.
Sewing: Pretty technical but not too complex. Altogether a good U-Turn Detour.
Saman: Loved it. Very complex and very easy to mess up.

This leg was really not that bad!!
Appreciated the Ondel ondel and durian equalizer before the u-turn.
I don't wholeheartedly condone the u-turn before the detour, but thankfully They decided to keep two tasks before it.
The detour was sort of balanced? I mean, definitely not the best Indonesia has to offer but still it was a pretty decent detour, with equally tough tasks.
The roadblock looked maddening at first, but somehow it took teams 5 attempts to get it. Pretty neat of a roadblock.
But I don't like the repetition in tasks so far. We already had a dancing detour in L2, and we already had a task related to animals in L1 and L3.
But I'm not complaining, this season is going pretty awesome in comparison to season 5.
Nancy & Melissa are still pretty decent <33 Leanne & Mar are growing on me! Martina & Phil <3333 Overall a pretty decent cast for this season. I'm loving it!
