Phil Keoghan @PhilKeoghan · Oct 8 Just like live TV RT
@kctww (https://twitter.com/kctww): This new style of task introduction is so stressful. WHAT IF @PhilKeoghan (https://twitter.com/PhilKeoghan) FLUBS IT.”
What's with PHIL not being ahead of the Game?
Like it or not?
Are we cost saving a day or two here and there ? ??? ??? ???
Neobie is gonna hate this one.....
-
I like it, but its a bit gimmicky. It was cool in Leg 1, not so much in Leg 2.
-
Kind of just makes it all more interactive.. maybe Phil wanted something new for himself too lol
-
The only thing I can think of is...
In order to keep Phil ahead of the pack, teams have to be kept back long enough for him to get ahead. If Phil doesn't have to be ahead, he can fly with the others, there may be less hotel costs, and the race could be shorter, thereby saving $$$$$

This reappearing phrase always sends me shivers when it refers to The Amazing Race. I thought Phil appearing beside the teams in the premiere was ummm... neoteric, but it went cliché very quickly the week after. Phil commentating the punting task in real-time with the teams was a gimmick gone wrong.
-
I still like it. But if this increases production costs.........................
NO THX. :funny:
-
I loved it!
-
I liked it, so cool (thrilling) for the racers to see Phil before the pit stop.
-
I like it. I'm glad they didn't go overboard.
-
Was Phil shown with the pack somewhere in Leg 3? I think I missed it.
-
Late to the party here. I thought it was cool. I felt it kept up with the energy.
-
The best change they have made to TAR25, in my opinion.
-
I think Phil is ahead of the pack for most of his standups, but goes back to with the pack when he does the stand up with teams in it.
Reason being is when I watched the last episode, I thought I saw an analog clock say 1:15 during Phil's standup at the Roadblock at the restaurant, before Kym and Alli's flight landed at 2 PM.
If someone could maybe go back and get a screencap of Phil's standup at the Roadblock, that may be helpful!

:tu Alen! :hrt:
So I guess Phil is still ahead of the pact during most of the leg and goes back to do the live stand up!
-
That's quite interesting! Good eye, Jimmer!
-
Just had a thought, since we here at RFF are such rabid fans, you suppose there is a bit of a game/challenge for us at the end? This is almost like searching for Alfred Hitchcock in his films. What do you think? ???
-
For us? Or the teams?
-
Over the years, one of the main criticisms of Phil in the Reality Host Emmy Category is that he doesn't interact with teams enough. I hope this gives him some more interaction and that he might win the Emmy for hosting which he so deserves.
-
The new gimmick was great in the first Leg since it was so unexpected and Tim waving Hi to him was awesome.
But it's felt too forced these last three Legs.
If they want Phil to get involved with the teams more, how about bringing over TAR Israel's Double Battles and have Phil hosting whatever the competition is? :snicker:

I like this idea.
I'm not sure if it would work if two or more teams are far behind the front-runners.
-
Phil specifically telling us that Misti and Jim were 12 minutes behind made my heart race actually.
How would you like it if they actually tell us how far teams were behind (usually for last place teams) in terms of subtitle on screen / Phil's LIVE stand up?
-
I'm getting used to it!!
-
Maybe this thing will use for Memory Task at the finale leg. :conf:
-
That wouldn't work because it's usually only the first-place or last-place team that actually encounters Phil...
-
I think he maybe stood at the same spots all the the time, talked about the tasks and was edited out. :D
-
What happened to this? ???
-
It depends on destination... I have been to Marrakech and during S25E05 all the action took place on 0.3 sq mile. So it was very easy to be with racers... I think we would see more of Phil during Maltese leg.
-
Eh I think this needs to be consistent other wise it might just be pretty lame.
-
Some legs may require or simply give him the chance to get ahead. Would be interesting to correlate this with the length of racer pitstops?
-
personally I think its awesome that he is out on the course with them :wohoo: and for them I can see it as being a moral boost to go faster... :yess:
