Just weeks after retiring from 60 Minutes, Andy Rooney has died at 92 from complications of having surgery.

I also posted this in Anything/Everything, but our TAR fans know Andy well! And just a couple of weeks since he left 60 minutes.
Much sympathy to his friends and family.

Even as someone who disliked him on 60 minutes sympathy for the man and his family. The nice thing is that he had a long life and apparently one he truly loved.
-
R.I.P. Andy. Your segment always signaled that TAR was only minutes away.
-
It's funny how many of us are familiar with him, and have been for years because his segment aired directly before the Race for so long. He was an iconic character for sure and I actually got entertainment out of his silly piece.

R.I.P. Andy.
Well... My question may look silly, but did Andy Rooney have anything to do with TAR? ???

Andy had nothing at all to do with TAR. He was just on doing a commentary at the end of each 60 Minutes show. He was the five minute warning that TAR was about to start. Time to use the bathroom or grab the refreshments!
Seriously, though, I generally enjoyed his work and I'm sorry to hear he died. I'll also send my condolences to his friends and family.

Thanks for your explanation, Plaidmoon. He worked till the end of his life. He definitely had the quality we admire.
I've only watched 60 Minutes once. It's a good show, I think.
