Couple of things to keep in mind, a top 30 this year is like a top 25 last year, due to the ill fated prime-time Leno program last year. And these number are live plus same day only not live plus seven.

Let's all buy stock in watermelons!! :wohoo:

For the first week of the season TAR ranked 11th out of all shows in adults 25-54 in homes that earn 100,000. What they call upscale viewers. 60 Minuets (which is often does well here) was 19th and Undercover Boss was 22nd.

While its true that their are 5 more hours of NBC then what really was there last year for NBC. THe simply fact (especially in total viewers) NBC rarely had anything besides Sunday Football place in the top 25.
But TAR is doing extremely well this year after two episodes. Very, very well.

2.4 million - top show on Sunday night and 8th for the week.
On CTV the premiere was sandwiched between **** My Dad Says and Undercover Boss.
-
CBS may be taking a holiday weekend (no press releases so far today, and none since Thursday on their web site), but I've seen a preliminary estimate of around 12.1 million viewers for last night not including any time shifting. It's also a gain over TAR 15's 10.8 million the same week a year ago. (No 18-54 demo info yet, either).
Once CBS puts out something I'll post it.
-
They have issued a press release for their first week DVD results and tar isn't included, tvbythenumbers has also posted top twenty five DVD results no tar, and for the first time ever C3.
C3, are the commercials ratings for the first three nights of viewing. These are the numbers that set ad rates. As they remove households who skip commercials.
They are the most important data point on a shows success or failure. And of course they had the top 25 and we didn't make it.
The only interesting thing is that based on that list. It's clear that DVD doesn't really I pact a shows future.
Fewer people are counted with three days of commercial viewing then all the people who watch the program during the first day.
And while there was so minor changes in order. There'd wasn't a huge shift, well except family guy which did great in commercial viewing.

CTV is very lazy about promoting TAR in Canada. I can only imagine what the ratings would be if they actually put some effort into advertising. If you want a laugh - look at http://shows.ctv.ca/TheAmazingRace.aspx and compare it to the CBS site.
-
Still waiting on CBS for the overnight numbers because the NFL overrun in some markets skewed the data, but I did wee a mention of about 11.24 million and a 3.4 demo; compared to TAR 15 the same week a year ago, we were up by two million viewers.
I'll post whatever CBS has to say when it comes out, but we may be having to wait until tomorrow's weekly numbers release.

Imagine what would happen if they actually promoted TAR on CTV.

Holy crap!
-
Finals
TAR
10.944 million viewers
3.5 adults 18-49
ranked 21st in both viewers and demo, TAR is doing steller numbers this year.

:jumpy:
-
Note that these numbers are from episode 3 on October 10th - BBM Canada releases the numbers to the public a week behind.
#7 isn't too bad considering it was Thanksgiving weekend in Canada - most Canadians were in a turkey coma by 8pm...

tvbythenumbers has taken the first 4 weeks of the season and compared them to the 4 weeks of the start of last years. The chart shows what shows have gained or lost in adults 18-49.
And guess what CBS show has the largest increase in adults 18-49 from the year ago? Why that would be TAR. And thats with 60 Minutes being down 10% versus last year.
Here is the link to the chart.

mswood, I had cataract surgery on one eye this week, so georgiapeach grabbed the CBS release for me; but after the information you posted, I'll repeat what I said before -- "Where's the renewal notice?"
TAR continues to grow slowly but steadily on Sunday nights, although the net gain this most recent week is still jaw-dropping. I can't think of what is causing this increase over a year ago, but I'm certainly not going to complain. I also noticed that TAR's increase on the tvbythenumber's list is double that of Survivor.
Can't wait to see if we learn about about the upper income in the demo numbers; I have to think those are improved as well.
-
The income numbers have been released for one week this season (we rarely get them more then a couple times a year) and TAR was doing very well. Best out of CBS Sunday night.
And yes its very odd that we have not had an official pickup. With CBS officially picking up its new shows for a full 22 episode season, and with CBS having several shows filming currently for mid season Tvbythenumbers is listing the possibility that TAR (and or UB) wont have a spring cycle.
While its seems crazy to me, I have to remember the last time TAR got such strong ratings (season 12) and what happened there, no damn spring cycle.
I am forever hopeful that Peach knows a little more then she is telling. Lets tickle it out of her! :yess:

Finals are out.
TAR
? THE Amazing Race 17 (8:17-9:17PM) scored a 6.7/10 with 11.42m viewers, 4.4/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.4/08 in adults 18-49. In the 8:30-9:30PM hour, CBS was second in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. Compared to last week, THE Amazing Race 17 was up +6% in households (from 6.3/10), +2% in adults 25-54 (from 4.3/10) and added +480,000 viewers (from 10.94m, +4%).
We ranked 19th in adults 18-49, and 20th in total viewers.

We never did get any reliable preliminary overnights because of the quarter-hour NFL overrun Sunday. But I did note yesterday that the numbers some places were reporting were, like last week, ahead of TAR 15 a year ago:
"The Amazing Race 15" (10.98 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 3.2, #8)
, an increase of almost a half-million total, and 0.2 in the 18-49 demo.
-
Well in meaningless total views after five episodes we are averaging more then all but seasons six, seventh and twelfth. Not too bad for a show on it's 17th cycle.
The 3.4 in adults 18-49 is our season low, our season high to date is a 3.8
Season thirteens high by the fifth episode was a 3.4 withs it low being a 2.9
Season fourteens high by the fifth episode was a 3.1 with it's low being a 2.6
Season fifteens high by the fifth episode was a 3.4 with it's low being a 2.8
Season sixteens high by the fifth episode was a 3.2 with it's low being a 2.6

There have been a number of comments around here about this being among the best seasons so far. I agree, the locations and tasks have been good and the contestants have been interesting and generally nice people. It appears that the general viewing public agrees with us.

I couldn't more agree with that. And the team with a couple of mean comments (Katie and Rachel) aren't really that bad too. I'm glad that in the show's 17th cycle, we're able to just keep doing better than before.

No information about TAR's numbers from CBS this week, but http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/11/02/sunday-finals-amazing-race-undercover-boss-adjusted-up-60-minutes-adjusted-down/70486 (http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/11/02/sunday-finals-amazing-race-undercover-boss-adjusted-up-60-minutes-adjusted-down/70486) did provide this:
The Amazing Race
- 9.091 million viewers
- 5.3/9 HH
- 2.6/7 A18-49
I guess trying to battle a Bret Farve NFL game, and the World Series was a bit much.

Here's a summary of the ratings for TAR 17 season to date, as included by CBS in its press release announcing TAR 18's spring 2011 airing:
This Fall's installment of THE AMAZING RACE is posting across the board increases versus last Fall's edition, averaging 11.69 million viewers (+4%), 4.7 in adults 25-54 (+7%) and 3.8 in adults 18-49 (+9%). This season's finale will take place on Sunday, Dec. 12 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
-
I was actually surprised that CBS didn't classify all of Sunday as Special Programming (they can do this and do a few times each year, either on major holidays or against unusually strong competition) and thus be able to not count the results on their season averages that determine ad rates.
I was very surprised.
-
TAR has been holding its own against the NFL and MLB. But it's nice that the World Series is over. TAR can go back to getting some 18-49 love.
-
The 66 minute NFL overrun has the preliminary fast overnights in confusion, especially because CSI was not aired for those getting the CBS east coast feed.
TV By The Numbers, though indicated this, though for the 9 PM hour:
There was a 67 minute NFL overrun into CBS primetime, so the CBS time period ratings below cannot be relied upon for comparison purposes. Also, CSI Miami was pre-empted in the Eastern and Central time zones.
9:00 CBS THE Amazing Race XVII 3.2 7 11.695
9:30 CBS THE Amazing Race XVII 3.1 7 10.848

TAR's numbers this week rebouned from last week, but not quite up to the season-to-date averages CBS mentioned when it announced TAR 18:

Haven't found a linkable source on the preliminary overnight numbers, but ir seems as if the numbers were almost as low as two weeks ago thanks to another NBC Sunday Night Football game involving the New England Patriots.
CBS did put out a press release confirming the dates of the season finales for both TAR 17 and Survivor 21 (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2010/11/15/cbs-announces-the-season-finale-dates-for-the-amazing-race-and-survivor-nicaragua-823513/20101115cbs01/), and included this little tidbit on the season-to-date numbers:
The current installment of THE AMAZING RACE has increased its ratings in comparison to last fall's edition, averaging 11.71 million viewers (+3%), 4.7 in adults 25-54 (+7%) and 3.7 in adults 18-49 (+3%).

So far nothing from CBS this afternoon about the final weekly numbers.
TV By The Numbers did report this as the final numbers for this past Sunday's episode (link) (http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2010/11/16/sunday-final-ratings-desperate-housewives-family-guy-amazing-race-adjusted-up-csi-miami-american-dad-60-minutes-down/72304):

Apparently Nielsen is a little slow because of the holiday weekend. Finals for the week, and for Thursday, Friday and Sunday aren't available yet; and one source I checked stated those might be out late Tuesday. I didn't post the preliminary overnights because there was very little information on those, as well and there were overruns of different length in some East Coast feed markets.

OK, the ratings info is out: (http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_entertainment/release?id=26846)

3 10/14/10 "In Phil We Trust" 0.773 #48

8 11/18/10 "Ali Baba in a Suit" 0.667 #71
9 11/25/10 "There's a Lot of Nuts and Bullets" 0.797 #49
As far as the numbers go, TAR does decently. It is considered the most popular reality show in the country (Or was before MasterChef hit.) It was only at Season 15 that the Seven Network started fast tracking the episodes, usually we would be months behind, but as of now we are only 3 days behind. Also noteworth is the major timeslot change that occured recently. During season 12 (Which aired almost a year after it did in the US) TAR would begin at 10:30 on a Thursday night, and would be put together as a double episode, ending at 12:30 AM. The show now airs at 8:30 PM, as singles mostly. (Unfortunately, I can't compare ratings from those seasons, because they aren't/weren't made available.)
I will update this post for the new episodes as they come.

I'll take 12million! It's considerably good for a show in its 17th season!
We only did 0.2 million worst than last fall! It's still good news! :cmas26
-
There have been some very high interest NFL games this year on Sunday nights, and that does make a different for some weeks.
The key is the weekly rankings which puts the total audience into a context. So much of the overall audience also watch cable programming on Sunday nights so we may be seeing some effect of the increasing fragmentation of the audience.

It isn't bad news, and its considerable higher then two years ago, season 13.
With most shows losing ground year to year, and year after year, it really isn't a bad thing.
And the really nice thing is that why we did marginally worst, Undercover Boss is down seriously, and now is doing worse week to week then TAR is, meaning TAR is back being CBS number one show in adults 18-49.
