I'm right here, darling. Not having a TV sucks. I do have NFL Sunday Ticket online. I'll do my best to provide overrun times when I can.

I want people to salute me when I project the start time within two minutes.

God knows I would never encourage illegal activity (cough cough) but they also have some slower legal ways to watch don't they.

An NFL runover on Sunday, 9/27 could delay start times for 60 Minutes (7pm ET) the premiere of Amazing Race (8pm ET) and Cold Case (10pm ET).

If so, you'll receive a message on Sunday with exact details of revised start times.

Thanks for registering for this CBS Eye-lert.

The late games will run until at least 7:15 p.m. on the East coast theoretically. I'm in the midst of a huge project for work, but the games are on in the background. If I can, I'll try to update you on times.
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch

Remember, CBS has three late games, Miami-San Diego, Denver-Oakland and Cincinnati-Pittsburgh. Just because one ends early does not mean the markets receiving that game will get Amazing Race on time. Those markets will send to the one of the remaining games so that all markets can join 60 Minutes together.

All three CBS games are moving at a decent pace, but the last two minutes of a game can move slowly due to time outs and commercials.

This afternoon's second games on CBS start at 405pm, not later. I expect that when the earlier finish of Jets/Saints and Bills/Dolphins finishes CBS will switch everyone ot the later finishing one. SO that means that we can still expect a finish timein the 715pm range even though one game should be done earlier.

Why CBS gets the post-4pm games two weeks in a row is unknown, but they do. Oct. 11 will have 3 games in the 415pm (not 405pm like this past weekend) time slot:

New England vs. Denver
Houston vs. Arizona
Jacksonville vs. Seattle
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch

It's the way the NFL tries to balance things out with the TV partners.
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: theschnauzers on October 05, 2009, 02:34:20 PM
apskip, this past weekend wasn't a double-header weekend -- it was the fact that CBS choose to seC East rivalry game to much of the large urban centers in the eastern 2/3rds of the US. And as long as I can remember, the NFL has set home games for the Dolphins during the early part of the season in late afternoon. (I used to be a Dolphin season ticket owner before I left Miami and the stated reason was that the playing field and the stadium got too hot at 1 pm during September-early October.)

Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: TARAsia Fan on October 05, 2009, 07:53:08 PM
I think ap was talking about in Weeks 2 and 3 where CBS got the doubleheader. The NFL usually does that for CBS. Down the road, Fox will get two consecutive doubleheaders down the road. Then on Week 17, both CBS and Fox will get a doubleheader giving both networks 9 doubleheaders.

The NewEngland/Denver game is jsut tied at 5:21 left. That means sometime after 720pm and maybe much later if it goes to overtime for the start of 60 Minutes.

The Jacksonville/Seattle game is over and its viewers are now watchign NewEngland/Denver.

puddin,

I would not say that CBS has the double-header game, as FOX also has to games after 4pm. Tennessee @ New England and Buffalo @ NY Jets on CBS are unfortunately 415pm starts while the FOX late games start at 405pm.

Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch

So a late start for TAR again?
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: theschnauzers on October 17, 2009, 11:18:48 AM
I think a little clarification is needed here.  The fact that either FOX or CBS has a single game does not mean that all of their markets receive a game at 1 pm ET. (And this time of year, FOX or CBS may be carrying a live sports event in addition to a NFL game.

Thus, for those of us in the eastern and central time zones, we have to deal with late games more often than not since both FOX and CBS have figured out that the late game overruns help their ratings and often suppresses NBC's SNF ratings a bit. Since overruns seem to help TAR's ratings for some reason no one's been able to explain and this is the third year we've had that phenomenon, I don't complain too loudly.

On a related note, the CBS Eye-lerts link now goes to the sign up page again, so anyone who wants the Eye-lert directly to their e-mail can sign up for it.  Note that you have to have (or create) a user account for the CBS-related websites in order to sign up.

CBS does have the doubleheader this week. Fox may have a game at 4, but it is only shown regionally. The 4:15 p.m. slot is a national game affecting the start times of CBS' primetime lineup in the Eastern and Central time zones. And there's no need to be combative, ap.

Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch

This should telll you something about when.  The fourth quarter of the Jets/Bills game started at exactly 7 pm ET, with the score tied 13-13. So my guess is at least a 45 minute delay unless one team gets way ahead, and there's always the possibility of overtime.

(My CBS station was switched from the Patriots-Titans game after halftime, when the score was already 45-0 in the midst of a nor'easter with heavy snowfall.)
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: apskip on October 18, 2009, 06:27:22 PM
The Jets/Bills has moved along. With 3 minutes to go, it is 726pm. However, the game is still tied at 13-13 so overtime is a real possiblity.

Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: apskip on October 18, 2009, 06:38:43 PM
The Bills kicker missed a 46 yard field goal. It's OT, with the Kickoff right now at 739pm
Title: Re: TAR15 and Football Watch
Post by: apskip on October 18, 2009, 06:48:30 PM
The Jets are going to try a 50 yard field goal, but the snap is bobbled and the bills intercept the desperation pass at their own 35 yard line.

Buffalo now has the ball and it looks more likely that this game could end in a tie well after 8pm.

Meanwhile, the interceptions are coming back and forth fast and furious.

For real!  You'd think they would've axed Three Rivers.  I guess it could be a good lead-in, and it's new (not struggling).  I guess they'll replace a rerun of TR for CC.  But hey!  At least they didn't drop TAR!

Anyway, game just ended.

Rather than do this piecemeal every week, here is the list of CBS after 4pm games for the rest of the season. Anyone is welcome to transfer this information into new threads started for any episode.

10/25 405pm Jets at Raiders, Bills at Panthers

11/1 405pm Jaguars at Titans, Raiders at Chargers

11/8 415pm Chargers at Giants, Titans vs. 49ers

11/15 405pm Chiefs vs Raiders (note - originally I somehow picked up the 11/22 teams here by mistake)

11/22 415pm Jets at Patriots, Chargers at Broncos, Bengals at Raiders

11/29 405pm Chiefs at Chargers, Jaguars at 49ers

12/6 405pm Chargers at Browns

12/13 415pm Chargers at Cowboys

12/20 405pm Bengals ar Chargers , Raiders at Broncos

12/27 415pm Jets at Colts

1/3 415pm Titans at Seattle, Ravens at Raiders, Chiefs at Broncos

The Jets/Raiders game, seen by more than half the country on CBS, finished the first half at 530pm and started the second half at 543pm. The prospects for a 7pm start for 60 Minutes are minimal.

Early game as well. We were switched from the late game (OAK/SD) to an early one yesterday.

Basically, it's just Jacksonville, Orlando, Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, and Indianapolis who will bw getting the late game.

BIG reminder to doublecheck your clock settings on Sunday inasmuch as Daylight Savings Time ends on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2:00 am.  Many devices (made before 2007) do not have the new DST calendar in their coding, and may not recognize that the adjustment should have been automatically made.

(I have to manually adjust the settings for those weeks where there's a difference between the old DST and the new DST schedules.

Wow, we all share the late games ..expect for the margin in Washington which doesn't matter since they are on the West Coast.

 San Diego @ NY Giants

 Tennessee @ San Francisco

The only market not getting the late game of the doubleheader is New Orleans, because of the NFL blackout rules.

I doubt CBS will give them a head start, but I'm not sure what the CBS practice is these days.

Today the only game on late for CBS is: 11/15 405pm Bengals vs Raiders

That is good news from 2 perspectives, having the 405pm game and having only one late game on CBS. That maximizes the chance that 60 Minutes will start at 7pm.

Bengals-Raiders? That's a shock to Cincinnati as they play the Steelers in the early game in Pittsburgh today.

I think you mean, Chiefs-Raiders, ap. And that is going to a minimum of markets today.

Significant markets getting the single CBS late game (with the east coast primetime feed) are:
northern Georgia including Atlanta, Charlotte, most of the lower penisula of Michigan, including Detroit, southern and southwestern Florida including Miami, Palm Beach, Tampa-St.Pete, New Orleans,  most of Missouri including St. Louis and Kansas City, northern Arkansas, all of Kansas, eastern North Dakota, almost all of Minnesota, a piece of northwestern Wisconsin, and a odd segment of western Iowa and extreme eastern Nebraska.

So Peaxh you should be able to make it home in time, unless the runover is really short, or you don;t make it home really fast.  :hearts:

Yeah, I have it on. It's going to be a pretty long delay tonight (still about 7 minutes left). I wish at least CBS would've had a better game to put on, as Oakland and KC are both terrible.

I have the schedule for Week 13 (Dec. 6) (http://www.fangsbites.com/2009/11/attention-we-have-our-first-flex-of-nfl.html) on my blog. Yeah, you might have a late game at 4. But since you're in a secondary market, your CBS affiliate might have a game opposite the Iggles at 1. We'll see.

Fox has the doubleheader that week.

NBC has changed its Sunday night game for December 6th, which gives CBS another game to cover (New England and Miami) at 1:00 pm, so there may be some additional time changes before next weekend.

I can't tell for sure what's going on where I'm at. One late game is going to Charlotte, the other late game is going to Atlanta, and there's an early game for the market(s) around those. And I got a CBS advance Eye-lert this afternoon for Sunday, which tells me CBS isn't sure either.

There are 2 CBS games showing to different parts of the country; both started at 405pm. In the New York metro area, southern california, the Midwest cetnered aroudn Kansas City and Atlanta, we have San Diego vs. Kansas City. From South Carolina to below Orlando and western North Carolina and an odd area in virginia, western Maryland, northeast West virginia and south central Pennsylvania there is Jacksonville at San Francisco. Most of the country has no 405pm CBS game. It looks like 60 Mintues could start on time tonight.

The San diego/Kansas city game has 10 minutes ot play in the 3rd quarter and I belivee that the San Francisco/Jacksonville game is a little further along than that. They could both finish around 7pm.

Delays will be slight. San Diego/KC which is in the NY market is taking a while to end. Jax/SF is moving along rather quickly. There will be no switching. Although I believe Jax/SF was given to NYC earlier in the 2nd half. NYC should be seeing TAR around 8 or so.

The current distribution map has the following markets that have the east coast feed with the one late game: Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans. That still quite a bit of the eastern half of the country, so there will likely be some overrun effect.

At least they are being nice to TARcon this time around!
