It seems like this wasn't the real deal.  This looks to me like a test run of the new house to see if all camera angles are correct and if the game play still works well with the shots.  I doubt Mark is one of the real contestants, but maybe he'll give us some inside look at the house?

Mark is a reporter with realitywanted.net and this may have been some sort of a press junket. He does great interviews which we post in the TAR threads. The dot com restricted site above I think links to the reality wanted casting site which requires registration.

Odd though that this isn't on the realitywanted.net site yet that I can see.

  That is really what I meant last night. I was sleeping at the comp  :-[

I found realitywanted.net, but what I meant to say was that the myspace page was the only thing I could find, that had anything to do with Mark being in the house. I think it was probably a test run also, with reporters etc. Like Cinera said, a publicity test run.

Sorry for not following up, it was late!  :nitenite: I just couldn't keep my eyes open!

Sounds like it was to let some reality based writers have a taste of what it is like to be in the house, try the slop etc.

What I can tell you is Mark had just returned home.

In order to view his comment you must be a friend.

I'm sure it will appear on his sites once he has the time to do that.

Like I said he had just gotten home.

I knew ahead of time he was leaving to go to and he was thrilled  :jumpy:

I am so excited to see the BB9 house
I hope the layout is similar to the BB8 house -- I didn't like it when there were so many beds in one room.

If there is a house guest named Michael I should get 1 000 000 dollars.

yay, where did you see that Will?!

from a bb9 fansite on myspace bulletin, one person heard from another and on and on but nobody has specific details, rumored that it was supposed to air tonight but didn't so I'm guessing later on in the week. I'm looking around for concrete info.

Post by: RealityFreakWill on January 30, 2008, 12:38:50 PM
All I found out so far is that Julie was or still is in LA this week to film footage of the house tour for BB but no airdates were given. I'm keepin' my eye out on that.
Title: Re: Big Brother 9 News
Post by: michael on January 30, 2008, 12:43:39 PM
I think it will be Feb 4th.

all the reporters are saying that they can't say anything about the BB house until Feb 4th, so that's probably when the HGs will go into sequester.

But that doesn't make sense to me, since last year they were sequestered for a full week, and then moved into the house like 3-5 days before the show aired..

If the same thing happens this year they will move in around Feb 7th-9th which isn't a full week of sequester..
Title: Re: Big Brother 9 News
Post by: RealityFreakWill on January 30, 2008, 12:53:18 PM
If they are doing the same schedule as last year, the sequester should start tomorrow, cast revealed next Tuesday and cast entering the house on the 7th. We'll see.....I'm looking everywhere for any INFO!

SPOILER! New House Information - It’s Far Out, Dude!

The extras are in the house right now getting everything working and ready for February 12th, but we can give you an inside view of what the house looks like!

The house is extremely colourful - so colourful that it might take us time to get used to.

The living room and kitchen are decorated like a winter cabin “on crack” - logs and stones, like the wallpaper on the third level during BB8 - to match the winter season. They even have that basementesque white birch mural paper up in the Diary Room! Ick. The living room also sports a circular couch for the big happy HG family.

The third level is no longer the log wallpaper and is bookshelf wallpaper. I sense themes… everywhere.

The HoH room has a surfer theme - gnarly, dude! The other bedrooms have low walls which divide up a little bit of individual space for the HG - great idea! One room has a nautical them! Fun.

The backyard now sports a firepit to keep the HG warm on the frosty winter nights. The pool is also heated now!

A winter theme sounds not so bad...

But EXTREMELY colorful? Yuck...

Bookshelf wallpaper was in the hall to the Diary room last time--maybe they got a discount? :lol3:

Nautical is about ships--seafaring--boats

WLBB Source: Big Brother 9 to run 12 weeks, not 6

Sources tell WeLoveBigBrother.com that Big Brother 9 will last 12 weeks instead of the rumored 6 week stint.

Have no fear, Big Brother will be here for a full season.  Sources tell WLBB the reality show will last the full three month season.  Early speculation suggested the new winter season would only last six weeks.  Big Brother 9 premiers February 12th on CBS and is scheduled to end early May.  More to come...

Julie Chen to announce
The 14 House Guests

Just prior to the beginning of Big Brother season the tension rises as fans impatiently await the announcement of the house guests.  It is no different this season for Big Brother 9.

It has been announced that Julie Chen will be announcing the House Guests for Big brother 9 on the CBS Early show on Wednesday, February 6th between 7am and 9 am Eastern Standard time.

There was no mention of it but we may also be treated to a house tour as well.

It is always a fun time after the house guests have been announced as the web sites and fans scurry about trying to collect information on the 14 individuals that have been announced for the Big Brother 9 season.  The House guest announcement is when the fun of Big brother really begins.

Don't forget to set your recorders to:

CBS Early Show,  7 AM to 9 AM ET, February 6th

This could be true, or BS. I have no clue. A guy dropped into chat...
and said the new house is very colorful. That the backyard has firepits and a heated pool.

The kitchen/dining room is decorated like a cabin in the woods, for winter. HOH is a surfer-like room.

Diary room is weird looking. It won't have the crunchy paper. The hamsters go in next Friday. They're already in sequester... " becuase julie chen has begun filming entertainment tonigth segments.. and will reveal a secret sooner than expected".

If both BB's do well, we'll get 2 bbs next year as well. 6 women 6 men. Plus 2 more women and 2 more men... who will be at a different location (Like uk bb) and have different rules. (!)

Evel Dick will have a small role "in the way that he will only be doing promo commercials for showtime.. nothing else. ( nothing like janelle visitn the bb89 house )"

"listen to the song. Dirty little secret. its a first person lyric.. ist person bieng big brother.. meaning the houseguest dont have secrets.. the house does. meaning there could be more ppl sumwhere else. and different rules "

And there you have it. Is any of it true? We'll find out shortly, I imagine!

Live show's on Wednesday's make the most sense, so they have time film nominations//food comp in time for the next show.

I'm still wondering how the first episode will work..will the first live show be February 13th?

Thanks for all the news Michael, CBS confirms the cast revealed on Feb 6th on the ES. And to answer your question I'm going to say no, no live show on the 13th, rather the HOH gets some extra days as HOH then the live eviction the following week .. that is usually how its done.

The secret's out! Big Brother Fan Favorite Janelle will be doing a special segment on past BB hook-up's aka showmances! Maybe bromances will be included, too! Willnelle lives on in memories!

bah, screw Janelle!

I just thought of something that might get annoying --

while the show IS starting in winter, half of it is going to be in spring and it might get a little irritating looking at all of this winter crap in April and May LOL

Big Brother 9 Possible Timeline of Events

Posted on February 1st, 2008 by Joe Brooks

February 2nd, 2008

Beyond stories we hear from semi-finalists that didn’t make the cut this year there shouldn’t be much news today.

February 3rd, 2008

Sundays are normally a quiet news day. A few newspapers might publish articles talking about February sweeps and CBS’s efforts to climb the rating totem pole with the winter edition of Big Brother 9.

February 4th, 2008

On January 28th eight reality tv reporters entered the Big Brother house for 12 hours of “Big Brother” They were able to take photos and videos of the new house during the time they were in the house. They could not reveal what they saw until February 4th, or today. Expect to see websites like RealityWanted.net, EW.com, and others to post the images they captured on that day.

February 5th, 2008

Usually there is a magazine that gets first dibs on houseguest information. EW.com will probably post the names of the houseguests along with short bios (age, city).

February 6th, 2008

CBS will probably release more complete bios about each houseguests. We will probably also learn the twists – if there are any. Julie Chen will show footage she filmed in the house and reveal the houseguests on the Early Show.

February 7th, 2008

It’s my birthday and I don’t care what happens in the Big Brother world. May you all rot in hell.

February 8th, 2008

More video packages from the tv tabloids should start airing. The houseguests will probably enter the house today and the first HoH will be chosen.

February 9th, 10th, 11th , 2008

Nominations will already happen before the show premieres.

February 12th, 2008

Big Brother 9 premieres on CBS
Possible timeline?

Just a matter of days we will know who the houseguests will be! Just no more Donato types...once is enough!

Two hiding in the house must be the "secret" that we keep hearing about?

Update from Mark RealityWanted

Here is a Big Brother 8.5 - 9 Teaser And My Expereince

Last month, a selected group of reporters got the reality television opportunity of a lifetime when CBS invited them to spend a day in the life of a Big Brother contestant. CBS Mobile's Amber Valdez, TV Guide's Kimberly Caldwell, Fox Reality's Mark Long, and our very own Mark Yawitz of RealityWanted.com were some of the lucky people invited to participate. The group spent one day in the shoes of a Big Brother contestant and got a first look at the season 9 house. Some areas of the house were off limits, so that it could remain a surprise when the new season premieres on February 12th.

Mark, Amber, Kimberly, Mark, and others arrived early in the morning where they were greeted by CBS and Big Brother execs. They then had to turn over all of their personal effects from wallets to keys to cell phones. Microphones were handed out and the group was sent into the house to play Big Brother in fast forward. Immediately, alliances were formed as nobody wanted to be the first and only member of Big Brother 8.5 to be voted out. The houseguests competed in a Head of Household competition, nominations, a Power of Veto competition, and an eviction ceremony.

This week, RealityWanted will spill all the details of what went on in the Big Brother house. Learn more about the Big Brother 8.5 houseguests which included Cheryl Woodcock from The Insider, a comedy writer from The Craig Ferguson show, and local news personalities. Find out which houseguest got in trouble for climbing the walls of the Big Brother house - literally. Who was rumored to have a showmance? What emergency caused a small panic amongst the house guests? Who were the members of the "peanut butter alliance" and were they able to stick together and not get voted out? All these answers and more are coming up on Reality Wanted this week. Don't miss it!

Dustin responded to my message and here is what  he wrote....

Right? All the junk about my brother? Where was that coming from? I got a little nervous about it but its NOT AT ALL true. People are nuts I tell you!

I am going to do my best to watch this season, but I will be very busy with school and work.

THE CRUISE WAS CANCELED! Lack of sales, how embarrassing! I'm still doing what I can to get a portion of the payment we were supposed to receive a month ago.

If it is all log cabin esque, how exciting! Maybe it will feel more home-y instead of like the sound stage that it is! I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

Hope all is well with you! I'm sure we'll be in touch on Wednesday when they are revealed!

Cheers!

i HATE the idea of a "soul mate" big brother -- BUT ... it could get interesting because apparently the people are still strangers.

I'm sure eventually they will play individually though. With the finale scheduled for May 6th it would be to fast to evict them all as pairs.

I'm sensing a biggest loser type of thing going on -- first couple of teams eliminated but then it turns into individual comp again.

The two additions will be canadians...I know this because I saw it on a canidian news channel where they were talking about two canadians going to an american based reailty show named Big Brother for the first time. I hope this is true because I'm canadian and I'll be rooting for the canadians. This could be true because us canadians have a big fan base for big brother so they probably finally included us.

omg Mama I didn't even think of that before!

I really hope eventually it turns back into an individual competition.
It could also get good if two people from opposite couples begin liking eachother LOL

Yeah sounds kinda weird but hopefully it will work out

You know also the rumor of 16 or whatever, I wonder if the first few WOULD go out in couples? That would suck if you liked one person but not their partner and had to put them on the block like that. AHHHH. Ok my brain hurts now  :groan:

Just saw the Early Show, hopefully CBS will do a video.

James plans to walk around in his underwear and then ditch the underwear later. Oh joy!  :groan:
Natalie has no problem showing her body, and is religious.
Sheila is a former Penthouse Pet who wouldn't mind "hooking up" in the house.
Looks like a Boston Rob wannabee in the house.  (Matt.)
Parker will give it back a hundred times over.

Per Alison G: You will live and die with your Soul Mate. Not all couples will be heterosexual. Guests are flamboyant.

Anybody else catch more?

LOL that Alison Grodner is so evil:
Quote
“How is a special edition of Big Brother — that show about people who lay around half-naked doing nothing all summer — possibly going to work in the dead of winter? “By turning up the heat — and that’s not just a publicity slogan,” says Allison Grodner, exec producer of the CBS hit. “The house is usually air-conditioned, but no longer. It’s going to get quite hot inside. I think you’re going to see a lot more people taking off their clothes.”

BB9 cast video featuring Janelle when ready

THE NEW SEASON OF BIG BROTHER IS ABOUT TO START... 16 STRANGERS LOCKED AWAY
FOR 90 DAYS.. BUT WITH THE PROMISE OF A HALF MILLION DOLLAR PRIZE.
OUR JULIE CHEN HAS THIS EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT THE HOUSEGUESTS.
(insert)
NATSOT BIG BROTHER MUSIC, montage of sixteen houseguests.

TRACK 1 of 3
THESE are the sixteen men and women who will soon be living in the "Big
Brother" house. They're from all walks of life... from all over the country.
But they have one thing in common. They're certain that THEY will be the
half-million dollar winner of "Big Brother 9."

ALLISON
03 01 12
I'm sort of the girl next door, but I've definitely had my share of life
experiences, but I'm not afraid to be BAD. 18

JOSHUAH
00 47 35
America, I'm going to give you crazy funny back-stabbing hilarious hot sexy
smokin. I'm gonna give it all to you.

AMANDA
01 13 31
People don't think I'm smart when they meet me. So then, when they find out
that I'm smart, they're kind of intimidated. Because I'll blow you away with my
looks, and then turn around and blow you away again with my brains! 42

ALEX
02 13 06
People that whine and cry about, oh, slop, or, my family at home. Well, if you
were so worried about missing them, or so worried about what you were going to
be eating, you shouldn't have gotten involved in Big Brother. Plain and simple.
 16

PARKER
02 01 44
I'm a very vengeful person. So, you know, if someone downright sews me over,  I
mean, I'm gonna do it, like, a thousand times harder. (laughs). 54

NATSOT WALK & TALK
05 51 14
JULIE: You lead the way.
ALLISON: Okay!

TRACK 2 of 3
According to Executive Producer Allison Grodner... the players about to enter
the Big Brother House are like NOTHING you've seen before.

SOT INTERVIEW 06 42 58
RUNS=:06 + :05 + :02 + :07 + :02
JULIE: Tell me about the sixteen houseguests this season. Who are the
stand-outs? What are the personalities going in? //
06 43 17
ALLISON: We have a group of really energetic people. These people are over the
top, some amazing characters. // 06 43 48 We have a bikini barista, is what
she's called. She runs a coffee shop in Oregon, and serves coffee // 06 43 57
in her bikini.

NATALIE
01 02 02
I have no problem showing my body. Or anything like that either. Which is kinda
funny, because people say, how can you be religious and show your body? Well,
God created the human body. So what's wrong with it? 11

SOT INTERVIEW 06 45 18
RUNS=:05 + :03
JULIE: And there's a former Penthouse...
ALLISON: We do, we have a former Penthouse Pet. // 06 45 30 She's a single mom,
so it's in her past. But she still looks terrific.

SOT SHEILA
02 55 20
If there's a really hot guy in there, and there's some chemistry happening,
that might be really fun, too. 24

MATT
02 32 36
I'll tell the women anything they want to hear. I'll tell them how good they
look, how nice they smell. 42 // 52 I will lay it on thick as possible for
these women. I really don't even care! 56

SOT INTERVIEW
06 44 28
RUNS=:10
ALLISON: Crazy James. That's interesting, something we've never seen in this
house. He actually considers himself homeless, because he is traveling around
the world on his bicycle, and has no money to his name.

SOT CRAZY JAMES
00 55 52
I'll probably be walking around in my underwear all the time. 55 / 56 04 Maybe
after week six, I'm just going to say fck clothes, and just be naked. What are
they gonna do? (laughs.) 10

TRACK 3 of 3
But it wouldn't be "Big Brother" without a big twist. Each houseguest
filled-out a "love match" profile... as part of their application.

ALLISON: Sixteen singles, living in a house, suddenly discover their perfect
love match is sitting right next to them. // 06 49 57 Your life in the house
depends on this other person. You're going to sleep in the same bed together.
You're going to compete together. Hold the "head of household" together. Get
nominated together. And ultimately get evicted together.
06 50 13
JULIE: Is it all male/female coupling?
06 50 22
ALLISON: There will be some gay men in the house. And certainly you can expect,
therefore, it won't be all heterosexual couples.

NEIL
03 14 46
When I'm with somebody, "Oh, why are you with somebody? You're attractive, you
should be with everyone! And when I AM single, it's "Why don't you have
somebody?" 09

CHELSEA
02 24 56
Big Brother, they know me. And I'm sure they're going to put in my guy. You
know, my typical, "ohhhhh," heart throb. So it's gonna be hard. We'll see what
happens I guess. Close your eyes, dad!! (Laughs.) 08

Love Is In The Air As An All-New "Big Brother" Creative Twist Is Revealed

CBS today revealed the identities of the 16 Houseguests who will compete in BIG BROTHER, as well as the new creative twist that will play out during the first-ever winter edition, which premieres Tuesday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

This season marks other BIG BROTHER firsts, including the first-ever all-single cast and the most Houseguests in BIG BROTHER history.

When this group of 16 singles enters the house, they will be told they are being matched up with their "soul mate," a stranger who may prove to be their true love or their worst nightmare.  Whether there is a love connection or not, once paired up, the Houseguests' life in the game depends on their partner.  They must strategize, plot and scheme together as a couple for a chance at the prize.  These "lovebirds" will live together as a couple meaning they will sleep in the same bed, hold Head of Household as a couple, be nominated for eviction as a pair, and if the time comes, say their goodbyes together upon eviction.

BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day.  Each week the Houseguests will vote each other out of the house.  At the end, the last remaining Houseguests will receive the Grand Prize of $500,000 and a second place prize of $50,000.

This edition of BIG BROTHER debuts Tuesday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  Following the premiere, BIG BROTHER will be broadcast three nights weekly, on Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning Feb. 13 and Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning Feb. 17.  Julie Chen returns as host.  The live weekly eviction broadcasts will be Wednesdays, with the first eviction on Wed., Feb 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT).

Heres the Early Show transcript~

Latest "Big Brother" Twist: "Love Matches"
Sixteen Roomies To Vie For Half-Million Dollar Top Prize In Show's First Winter Season
CBS) Sixteen men and women will soon be living in the "Big Brother" house as the show's latest season -- and first in winter -- gets under way Tuesday.

The scheming strangers -- roommates and rivals -- will be locked away from the world for 90 days.

The houseguests are from all walks of life, and all parts of the United States.

But they have one thing in common: Each is certain he or she win the half-million dollar grand prize.

And they were more than willing to share their reasoning on The Early Show Wednesday, as Big Brother host and Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen revealed the cast's makeup for the first time:

ALLISON, Single, 28, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, from Boston:
"I'm sort of the girl next door, but I've definitely had my share of life experiences, but I'm not afraid to be BAD."

JOSHUAH, Single, 25, Advertising Media Buyer, from Dallas
"America, I'm going to give you crazy, funny, back-stabbing, hilarious, hot, sexy, smokin'. I'm gonna give it all to you."

AMANDA, Single, 23, Paralegal, from Fridley, Minn.
"People don't think I'm smart when they meet me. So then, when they find out that I'm smart, they're kind of intimidated. Because I'll blow you away with my looks, and then turn around and blow you away again with my brains!

ALEX, Single, 24, DJ Company Owner, from Staten Island, N.Y.
"People that whine and cry about, 'Oh, slop,' or, 'Oh, my family at home' -- well, if you were so worried about missing them, or so worried about what you were going to be eating, you shouldn't have gotten involved in 'Big Brother.' Plain and simple."

PARKER, Single, 26, Paparazzo, from Northridge, Calif.
"I'm a very vengeful person. So, you know, if someone downright s**ews me over, I mean, I'm gonna do it, like, a thousand times harder." (He then chuckled) "Definitely."

Executive Producer Allison Grodner says the players about to enter the Big Brother House are like none you've seen before.

"We have a group of really energetic people," Grodner told Chen. "These people are over the top, some amazing characters. ... We have a bikini barista, is what she's called. She runs a coffee shop in Oregon, and serves coffee in her bikini!"

NATALIE, Single, 28, "Bikini Barista," from Salem, Ore.
"I have no problem showing my body. Or anything like that, either. Which is kinda funny, because people say, 'How can you be religious and show your body?' Well, God created the human body. So, what's wrong with it?"

"We have a former Penthouse Pet," Grodner continued. "She's a single mom, so it's in her past. But she still looks terrific."

SHEILA, Single Mom, 45, Former Model
"If there's a really hot guy in there, and there's some chemistry happening, that might be really fun, too!"

MATT, Single, 23, Roofing Foreman, from Charleston, Mass.
"I'll tell the women anything they want to hear. I'll tell them how good they look, how nice they smell. ... I will lay it on thick as possible for these women. I really don't even care!"

" 'Crazy James, ' " Grodner said. "That's interesting, something we've never seen in this house. He actually considers himself homeless, because he is traveling around the world on his bicycle, and has no money to his name."

"CRAZY JAMES," Single, 21, Originally From Sarasota, Fla., Riding Bicycle Around The World
"I'll probably be walking around in my underwear all the time. ... Maybe, after week six, I'm just going to say, 'F*ck clothes,' and just be naked. What are they gonna do? (He laughed)

But, Chen points out, it wouldn't be "Big Brother" without a big twist.

Each houseguest filled out a "love match" profile as part of his or her application.

Says Grodner, "Sixteen singles, living in a house, suddenly discover their perfect love match is sitting right next to them. ... Your life in the house depends on this other person. You're going to sleep in the same bed together. You're going to compete together. Hold the 'head of household' together. Get nominated together. And ultimately, get evicted together."

"Is it all male/female coupling?" Chen asked.

"There will be some gay men in the house," Grodner responded. "And certainly, you can expect, therefore, it won't all be heterosexual couples."

NEIL, Single, 29, Realtor, from Los Angeles

Michael was right...12 days!
Actually I was right  ;D

guess who never works tuesdays or wednesdays :D

Live show's on Wednesday's make the most sense, so they have time film nominations//food comp in time for the next show.

I'm still wondering how the first episode will work..will the first live show be February 13th?

Thanks for all the news Michael, CBS confirms the cast revealed on Feb 6th on the ES. And to answer your question I'm going to say no, no live show on the 13th, rather the HOH gets some extra days as HOH then the live eviction the following week .. that is usually how its done.

Behind the scenes of Big Brother

Big Brother: 16 players, 54 cameras, 200 crew. Let the spying begin!

The facility that 16 contestants will call home for varying lengths of time over the next couple of months is actually a renovated Studio City sound stage, with walls knocked out to create a backyard. The sitcom The Game is right next door. The shrub-rich courtyard in which host Julie Chen welcomes the recently dismissed contestants is under the roof of Sound Stage 18. The foliage and lawn are as plastic as your credit cards.

There are those who wish there was no Big Brother, period. Many viewers — some of whom have never seen the show — regard the fact that the summer success is getting a winter showcase, starting Tuesday, as one of the most regrettable ramifications of the writers' strike. But if detractors had the opportunity to witness the incredibly challenging way in which the show is produced, some opinions might be swayed.
During last summer's press tour, a small group of critics was invited to tour the Big Brother set. This included a walk-around in the two-way mirrored corridors, which make up the perimeter, and a sample of the notorious "slop," the tasteless granola-like cereal that often becomes a dietary penalty for a failed task. As a result of the eye-opening visit, at least one writer who had no use for the series has become a regular viewer.

It's almost impossible to witness all that it takes to put together the CBS show, plus the late-night editions on Showtime and the round-the-clock Internet site, and not be impressed. A staff of about 200 is split into shifts so that the house guests' every movement and sound are captured 24/ 7. No fewer than four directors in an eerily quiet control room constantly monitor a wall of 12 screens, searching for the best shots. The images are supplied by 54 cameras dispersed around the makeshift living quarters as well as within the hollowed-out walls. Another quartet of directors sits behind them, listening via headsets to the 80-90 microphones, including those worn by the players. Within the walls, the camera people, as well as visitors, have to wear black clothing or don vests so that their presence isn't discernible by the contestants. Conversations have to be in whispers.

While the house really isn't one, the producers do their best to give it a homey feel, although for a mischievous twist, the facility was transformed last summer into an Alice in Wonderland fantasy, with miniature beds and doorways and garishly painted walls. Still, this was preferable to the original Big Brother house, which was a couple of trailers cobbled together on a back lot.

Big Brother's first winter edition is going a more traditional route, a rustic cabin motif complete with fireplace, sauna and a giant mural simulating an outdoor lake. "It's 180 degrees from Alice in Wonderland," executive producer Allison Grodner said. "We like to turn things upside down."

The warm feel of the residence fits in with a twist Grodner has concocted. The 16 guests, including a public relations professional from Delray Beach named Adam, will be paired off as couples. They will compete as couples, strategize as couples and, at least in the beginning, be voted off as couples.

They also will sleep in the same bed, which they were not told until they entered the house. (Grodner would not specify precisely when this happened.) She allowed that this might not sit well with all of the guests. Her reaction: too bad for them, great for the show. "If everyone accepts this, it wouldn't be interesting."

Big Brother consulted with a match-making service to arrange the couples, although there is a possibility some incompatibles will be paired for the sake of theater.

Moreover, this is arguably the hottest cast in the show's history. You won't find a Chicken George, the portly fortyish Ohio roofer and family man who thought Big Brother would make him a star. All this season's house guests are single. Only one has reached his or her 30th birthday. The exception is a 45-year-old former Penthouse Pet named Sheila, who describes herself as "a cougar," says Grodner.

The hook-ups should help alleviate the boredom that is the biggest downside of being a house guest. There are no TVs, radios, cell phones, BlackBerrys or any other way to communicate with the outside world. Except for the few hours a week when they are competing, the contestants have to find ways to amuse themselves. They can't even sing to themselves because of song-licensing issues.

On the day of the critics' tour, half the guests were lying in bed, which is what they reportedly do for endless hours. Having a bunkmate could spice up things. If show-mances develop, so much the better.

The initial agenda follows the norm: nominations for eviction on Sunday, a power of veto competition on Tuesday (both on tape) and a live eviction on Wednesday. If the elimination-by-couples blueprint is adhered to until the end, Big Brother could have an uncommonly brief run of six or seven weeks, about half the usual. The prize fund has not been kicked up with the move from the offseason. The winner takes home $500,000, the runner-up $50,000.

One possible explanation for the potential quick ending is CBS is leaving its options open, in case ratings that have been solid for summer outings don't measure up during the regular Nielsen season. On the other hand, if things go well, the dual eliminations could be scrapped and the run could be extended almost to the end of the season in May.

Grodner is playing it coy about the game plan and end date. "You know Big Brother. Expect the unexpected."

:waves:  Wow I have not been looking for a couple of days! You guys are great. So that means we have 11 Wednesdays if the season last until Tuesday May 6 right?

Michael or Puddin you both were right on top of this. If the first eviction is on the 20th,

1. CBS may be keeping themselves open for a shorter edition

2. They go out in couples for the first few weeks, then play as individuals.

3. Maybe they only have an eviction every other Wednesday (I don't think this rumor is plausible) which will leave four people at the end to compete for the half million.

4. Teams of two will be evicted together, and some will come back in the house at a later time during the game.

Okay, I think I will just wait, this is making me crazy!  :lol3: :lol3:

LOL
that's true!

plus, even if it is 6-8 weeks (which I really doubt, for some reason I think it's going to get really good ratings) we still have BB10 this summer LOL

there's a really reliable source on the internet who gave tidbits before both season 8 and 9 began, for 8 he said that there was more than one twist and he goes "what if you could ACTUALLY control one of the players" and he also knew how the house looked and everything. This time he knew the house as well, and mentioned that people get evicted as a couple but some people will be coming back..

Keep in mind BB is going against American  Idol on Tues and Weds which pisses me off, I am a huge fan of both shows but can't watch both same time as I have to record my shows as I work night shift....a huge dilemma for me! I wish I had DVR!

I've been seeing posts on several sites saying that Sharon's ex-boyfriend is one of the guys in the house and they are speculating that it's Jacob. No solid evidence to support the theory but who knows!

Also a big rumor got around that James/Sharon won HOH and are targeting Josh/Neil and that has been shot down by an insider from CBS. CornerOffice, the insider has been quoted that they are right about everything.

So funny to see rumors and speculation on various sites.

Big Brother Access posts:

Sources have revealed…
• James is a bit crazy, loves salads for breakfast and has a couple of tattoos that may be banished!
• Ryan wants to be a ladies man, is he?
• There is nothing quiet about Natalie…nothing - not even in the privacy of the potty!
• Matt is a charmer!
• The blonde’s are sticking together!
• James changes hair color as much as he changes moods… the girls made him Hot Pink last night.
• While Adam comes across as a relatively normal person, everyone has made the comment on his bug eyes. When he has a convo with someone, he looks like his eyes are about to pop out, which gives him a kinda creepy vibe.
• Jen and Parker have been looking awfully cozy.
• While a couple houseguests are talking to only one or two others, Amanda is taking the time to talk in-depth to everyone, sharing deep, personal stories.
• Joshuah seems to have bigger ambitions than Big Brother… namely a daytime soap career. On the other hand, Parker wants nothing to do with fame after his stint in the house is over.

Stay tuned for more!

I hope the pair list is just a rumor.  I checked out that BB8spolier site and it seems a bit shady to me.  Kind of like when Michael (BB6) apparently had a blog while he was in the BB house until it was revealed around Week 2 that it was just a fan pretending to be him.

Anyways, I'm taking that pair-list with a grain of salt.

Jen & Ryan (real life lovers)

but the rest....anything goes!

my guess is that the cable line ups are just confuse because the first house guest has always been available on the next available "live show" date which this time happens to fall the day after the premier, but we already had the press release stating the first house guest will be evicted on the 20th

I checked my DirecTV on screen guide and it does say first eviction this Wednesday!  :groan:

I'm pretty sure it's an error....but I've been reading on some sites that say the first pair is already out of house, hence only the 14 frames on the memory wall! RUMORS, RUMORS, RUMORS!

Makes me wanna scream....... :pull

I think that even tv guide can be wrong. Wasn't it Amazing Race this season that had "another team is eliminated" but it was a non elim. Same could be with Big Brother and all the tv guides say the same thing.
Title: Re: Big Brother 9 News
Post by: michael on February 11, 2008, 01:22:16 PM
I just think it'd be so pointless of them to get rid of somebody so fast when they put in 16 people for the first time ever?

Since that reliable source who always has everything right says that some people will be coming back I'm beginning to buy the rumor that getting evicted as a team and then america votes one of those people back into the house -- ultimately we still lose one person per week so it;ll work out.

SO MANY THEORIES!

maybe Julie Chen will help clear some of them up tonight on the Craig Ferguson show

PS:
TV guides have been saying that Wednesday will be the 1st eviction for a while now so I don't think it has anything to do with today's press release

There were rumors that this would be a shortened season.
I don't think so. We worked it out so it would carry us possibly into the end of April or first week of May. They were thinking of a possible abbreviated version if the writers' strike suddenly ended.

It must be taxing to do 'The Early Show' daily in New York and then fly back and forth to Los Angeles weekly for 'Big Brother.' Did you panic when you found out there would be a winter version?
A little bit. When I did the math about when this winter/spring edition will conclude, knowing that we were definitely still doing the summer version, I realized that I physically need all the months from summer to summer to recover. So I did panic. Excited, but panicked.

Didn't the writers strike just suddenly end? They said on the news, that it takes only 6 weeks for the show to start airing again. Do I think this has an effect? No! But just pointing it out since Julie mentioned it.
Title: Re: Big Brother 9 News & Rumors

I think she meant if the strike ended earlier, like when the show was still being planned. I think as of now they have a plan for a full season and are going to stick to it

An interview with Julie Chen

http://television.aol.com/tv-celebrity-interviews/julie-chen (http://television.aol.com/tv-celebrity-interviews/julie-chen)

Julie Chen Says Love Rules In the 'Big Brother 9' House

The Reality Host Dishes on the New Season's Big Twist, Being Bicoastal and Her Robot Alter-Ego

Feb. 11 -- Love will be in the air when the spicy new winter edition of 'Big Brother' debuts. The houseguests will be paired off as couples to compete in the game. Sounds good ... unless they end up hating each other, in which case it sounds even better.

AOL TV's Angel Cohn caught up with bicoastal 'Early Show' and 'Big Brother' host Julie Chen to talk about the hot new twist, who have been her favorite houseguests ... and what she really thinks about the "Chenbot."

There were rumors that this would be a shortened season.
I don't think so. We worked it out so it would carry us possibly into the end of April or first week of May. They were thinking of a possible abbreviated version if the writers' strike suddenly ended.

This is also a presidential election year, which is something you cover for your day job. How do you keep it all straight?
It is just so much. There is so much to watch. I feel like any time I'm sleeping I'm missing out on something. It is going to feel that way tenfold when we get to the house.

Do you at least get a cheat sheet of house happenings?
We have hot sheets. When I see it in my Blackberry, it's the highlight of my day. It's like, "So and so and so and so got nominated." "What?!"

Do you have an early favorite houseguest this season?
A couple of people stand out to me. There's something about Allison, who is 28 and from Boston. She was very open about her gambling problem and her commitment problem, and she just seemed very human. I was also very impressed by this 24-year-old kid from Staten Island named Alex. He owns his own DJ company and he lost his father [who worked for Cantor-Fitzgerald] on 9/11. His dream is to be successful like his father.

Click Here For the Scoop on the Season 9 Houseguests

Tell me more about the couples twist.
We have 16 [single] people in the house. They all did personality tests and ... we're pairing them up as couples, and they have to play as couples. If you get nominated, it is as a couple. If you get evicted, it is as a couple. You're getting put with someone who SHOULD be your potential partner, but this is just based on personality tests. You might be with someone who you have nothing in common with. Who knows? But they're forced to play together and sleep in the same bed. It's Valentine's Day! We're playing Cupid.

I was worried this season would lack some sex appeal because it's colder.
That was a concern. We control the temperature in the house, and for the first time ever we had to equip [it] with heat. There used to be a workout room, but that room is now a spa. There's a sauna -- very cozy. You know the bubble that the Miss America contestants go in so they couldn't hear the questions? It's like that. You can fit two people easily. That will be warm. We're heating up the outside pool to 85 degrees. And there is always the Jacuzzi.

So there are still some bikini opportunities.
Trust me. There are some of the houseguests who can't wait to be in a bikini. And one guy -- crazy James -- I think he said in his interview, "Who knows? I might just forget about clothing and walk around naked the whole time."

Plus, you have a former Penthouse pet.
We do. Sheila's the oldest of the group. At 45, she's a single mom and I think her son is 17. She has a lot of life experience and stories to tell, like living in the Penthouse mansion and having to compete with other women to be the Penthouse pet. This woman knows about competition.

Do you have a favorite former contestant?
Janelle is so fun to watch. She's cute and full of personality and a fierce competitor and amazing at the game. I liked her honesty and how she'd walk by someone and say "Maggie, you're a bitch" or whatever. [Laughs] Watching her flirt with Will in 'All-Stars' and trying to tempt him, that was very funny. Will in season 2 was interesting to watch because he was so good at manipulating people. He did it in 'All-Stars,' but it wasn't like season 2.

I think in 'All-Stars' he concentrated too much on flirting with you and not on the game.
[Laughs] I wouldn't say that. He was too busy telling Mike Boogie how to play the game. He was the puppet master.

There are rumors of a celebrity edition. Is that a possibility down the road?
I wouldn't rule anything out. It gets harder and harder to put together [because] there are so many other reality shows that cast people we'd want. Maybe, if we could find the right people who hadn't already done 'Celebrity Apprentice,' then find time in their schedules. We wouldn't do it for three months. I don't think any celebrity's schedule would allow that.

Could you live in the 'Big Brother' house?
No. Never. For privacy reasons alone. Having to think every waking moment that you have to compete for something, or you can't trust someone, and you have to watch everything you say ... that would be tough. I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Have you tried the slop?
I have! I like it! I love oatmeal and to me it is like really hearty oatmeal. You just have to get the ratio down of how much water because you don't want it to be gummy.

Which of the CBS reality shows do you think is the toughest: 'Survivor,' 'Big Brother' or 'The Amazing Race'?
That's hard. I want to say 'Amazing Race' because you are partnered up and you really have to be able to travel and be compatible with your partner. Plus the pressure of the 'Race' and the challenges that they face not knowing the language and weird competitions can cause fighting, which can really set you back. Maybe coupling people up this season on 'Big Brother' will even it out a little bit. I always wanted to do a reality show where we take the three [shows] and somehow switch [things] up.

Like you'd host 'The Amazing Race' and Jeff Probst would be on 'Big Brother' duty?
Something weird like that. Where the hosts change or we take the favorites from 'Survivor' and throw them in the 'Big Brother' house.

Will you keep hosting 'Big Brother' forever?
I hope so! The 'Price Is Right' had Bob Barker for 75 years, but they won't want me when I'm 70 years old and hosting it. I've realized over the years, during the 'All-Stars' season, that I was the oldest person, and that was weird for me.

I know the fans poke fun at you, do you care what they are saying?
I hear bits and pieces and it is funny. Like the day my best friend from college told me about the Chenbot, I was like "What?" Because I don't have a whole lot of time to see what they are saying on the internet, how they are making fun of me or what I wore. The Chenbot thing, I think people thought I'd be offended by it, but a lot of people don't know my sense of humor and I thought it was so funny. I bought Chenbot posters and had them framed and have one up in the office. My husband's assistant bought Chenbot mugs because she knew I thought it was funny.

Does it make you self-conscious?
No. Sometimes when we are in rehearsal I'll joke about it. Like, I'll purposely talk [like a robot] and say, "Chenbot can't say that."

SPOILERS BEWARE: From the BBQ
Quote
There was an eviction this weekend. It was a shock. The Beauty was brought down by the Beast’s big mouth. I’ve mentioned her name before.

Two former house guests who found love on Big Brother came back to crown the new co-HOHs after one of the most fun HOH competitions to date. One of the new HOHs has something in common with Janelle and Nick.

There have already been a few Howie impersonations. One of them you’ll see in the HOH competition.

The game has blown up more in the first 5 days than in any other season. Four House Guests have cried already. A couple Soul Mate pairs are clicking very well while a couple are already broken almost beyond repair. There promises to be more broken hearts than happy ones this winter. Of course, would Big Brother have it any other way?

Eric//Jess were back! YAY! I knew it!

and LOL Amanda and partner for 2nd HOH? That girls going to win -- I'm calling it now.

I'm not buying this BS yet, its like saying SPOILER: "its going to be below freezing tonight" when the themometer reads 4.6 degrees.

Article: Behind the scenes of Big Brother: 16 players, 54 cameras, 200 crew

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/entertainment/tv/sfl-tvbigbrothersbfeb11,0,4176445.column (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/entertainment/tv/sfl-tvbigbrothersbfeb11,0,4176445.column)

There is no Big Brother house. This befits the slogan of the CBS reality series: Expect the unexpected.

Look, nobody likes a writers' strike. But if it weren't for that pesky labor dispute we wouldn't have the first-ever winter edition of CBS' adventure in voyeurism. Mercifully, BB9 will spare us from another excruciating twist like America's Player, but if you think we've seen the last of Dick Donato and his crazy BB8 cohorts — think again. ''There is lots of interesting news on the season 8 cast!'' promises executive producer Allison Grodner. ''We got hookups that broke up and hookups that stay together. Plenty to report!'' Take it away, Chenbot! — Lynette Rice

Need more than three hours of Big Brother a week? Get your daily fix with Big Brother: After Dark, a live broadcast of the feeds from BB house, every night from 12 go 3 a.m. on SHO2.

A small article: Big Brother 9

http://www.tvguide.com/tv-hotlist#BigBrother9 (http://www.tvguide.com/tv-hotlist#BigBrother9)

Big Brother 9
9 pm/ET CBS New

Thanks to the writers' strike, the first winter edition of the reality series (the ninth overall) begins tonight. Sixteen houseguests — the most ever, and all of them single — enter the compound and are paired with their so-called "soul mate," based on the producers' research and compatibility testing. The eight pairs will play, plot and scheme together. They will share Head of Household duties, compete as a couple for the Power of Veto, and be evicted together. They will also share a bed. And if that doesn't steam things up in the house, the producers hope that turning off the air conditioning will cause players to shed some clothes. Sound sexy or sick? You decide.

Big Brother 9
9:00 PM - CBS

Strangers become housemates again in the unscripted series' ninth round -- and the first to start in winter instead of summer. At this writing, CBS was tight-lipped about details of the new season, which had the rumor mills working overtime on what it might bring. But the show's basic premise remains the same: people living together with cameras on them 24/7, vying to be the last one standing and take home the $500,000 grand prize.

Julie Chen's 'Big Brother' House Tour (hope this wasn't posted already)

:lol3: to view the video click on the link below

http://www.etonline.com/news/2008/02/58567/index.html

Love is in the air when the unsuspecting 16 new houseguests check in for the ninth season of "Big Brother," appropriately titled "Big Brother: 'Til Death You Do Part." The competitors had no idea that they were being paired up until they arrived to play the game.

"For the first time, they will be playing as a pair," explains series host JULIE CHEN, who takes ET on a tour of the new facilities. "We have coupled them up because we believe they could be potential soul mates from a questionnaire they filled out -- someone who could be the love of their life."

The eight couples will be required to sleep together, compete together and, possibly, get evicted together.

This season, the chalet-style, A-Frame has been designed to resemble a lake house. Since this is the first time that "Big Brother" has ever aired in winter, the swimming pool and whole sections of the yard are heated. In addition, there is a cozy outdoor fire pit, which is perfect for backyard gatherings. And the exercise equipment has been moved outdoors to allow for an indoor spa to be built.

In keeping with the lake house theme, the main bathroom floor has been covered in a blanket of autumn leaves. The custom made tiles were actually printed using real photos of fallen leaves, and the murals on the walls of the shower add to the outdoorsy feel.

The only private bathroom is in the head of household suite, but it, like the rest of the house, is under scrutiny of "Big Brother" cameras.

"Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part" premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Cheryl Blogs About the 'Big Brother' House!

http://www.theinsideronline.com/news/2008/02/15900/index.html (http://www.theinsideronline.com/news/2008/02/15900/index.html)

I've always wanted a big brother but I never dreamed I would one day become a housemate in the CBS hit reality series "Big Brother." It's a matter of "Be careful what you wish for." And, "Be specific when you do it."

My fabulous producer at "The Insider," MYLIN WATKINS, informed me of the assignment and I was absolutely thrilled. Mylin set up everything beautifully and informed me of the day -- not revealing too much as we were all going in to the house with a fresh mind and not knowing all the details of the day. The first thing that came to mind was, "How am I going to be in one place for 12 hours without my computer, BlackBerry, cell phone, television and basically no contact with my family?" Well, I survived -- but what I found out I missed the most were my children and my books! No TOLSTOY or D.H. LAWRENCE! I was, however, armed with DEEPAK CHOPRA's wisdom as he sent me a prayer of silence to read before I entered the house. I had just spent the weekend with him at his Chopra Center in San Diego, doing yoga, meditation and massages. Therefore, I felt as if I was mentally, spiritually and physically prepared for the assignment.

Let me explain. In celebration of the launch of the ninth installment of "Big Brother" (on February 12), producers opened up the "Big Brother" house front door for eight media personalities (MARK LONG, Reality Remix; JOSH RUBENSTEIN, KCAL; ERIK OGINSKI, KCBS.com; AMBER VALDEZ, CBS Mobile; JOE STRAZZULLO, "The Late Late Show"; MARK YAWITZ, Realitywanted.com; and KIMBERLY CALDWELL, TV Guide) to experience first-hand the trials and tribulations of being stuck in a home (full of cameras) with total strangers for hours on end.

To be totally honest, after being asked to join the media house, the first thing that appealed to me was getting to see where JULIE CHEN works. She truly does such a terrific job on the show and is one of my favorite journalistic idols. Julie is so beautiful, talented and smart-as-a-whip, As an anchor of the "CBS Early Show," Julie does double duty as host of "Big Brother."

I arrived to the set very early in the morning with my camera crews to do my stand-ups before the day started. There I was -- standing on the stage where Julie Chen works! After that thrill was realized, the "reality" started to set in. My camera crew left and I gave them all a big hug and really wished that they could have stayed. I pleaded with them to stay and they said "Cheryl, you are on your own-but you are going to be great." My camera man made me feel strong as I was suddenly quite nervous.

After meeting and greeting with the wonderful producers of "Big Brother 9" I met my housemates and quickly tried to assess who would be my competition for Head Of Household. I knew within 5 minutes that the strongest competitors would be Mark Long and Kimberly Caldwell -- one of my favorite "American Idol" contestants. Within the first 15 minutes I found myself confessing to the group that I was missing my Blackberry. Who knew I had such a Crackberry habit? Cut off from the outside world (What is Hollywood doing now?!), I had to face the task ahead of me -- which was to interact with other people in the most basic way. It was really a study in human nature -- think "Lord of the Flies" meets "Romper Room." Here were seemingly intelligent and accomplished individuals reduced to the most basic game of survival of the fittest. Despite all efforts, I found my own competitive juices starting to flow only minutes after entering the house.

Instead of being in the house for weeks, producers condensed our experience into hours -- 12 to be exact. Task after task revealed the most athletic and most cunning. There was plenty of drama along the way: alliances made and broken (you know who you are you double dealers!), a wedding ring literally lost in a haystack, someone dropping their mic pack in the toilet, dancing on the tables and prayer time before each meal -- along with yoga and meditation (that was my idea). And then it was over.

I realized so much about myself within that time of 12 hours. I really do have a competitive nature and want to win -- regardless if it means building an egg in the hay while donning overalls before the other castmates. I also realized how important it is to love and be loved -- and another epiphany ... BOOKS!!!!! I found out how important books are in my existence. I mean, one can go without communication with the outside world, however, what does one do with their mind for 12 hours, in-between the socialization, games, meals and downtime? As I mentioned before -- I did have everyone doing yoga and meditation! What a relief! There were also quotes from OSCAR WILDE and WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE on the walls that we all spent time pondering. The quotes were basically about love, relationships and trust -- which is what this game and the game of life is all about.

The house, by the way, was fabulous and the decor was truly fresh and innovative. I marveled at the talent of the producers for creating such a brilliant set, concept and show, no wonder so many people around the world love the show so much -- and there are 42 different versions of "Big Brother" around the world. That is actually the question I missed to lose out on winning the Head of Household. As I predicted, it came down to myself, Mark Long and Kimberly Caldwell! Mark won! It was a good thing I had made an alliance with him within the first hour of the house! Oh, wait a minute! I am still questioning if Mark did, in fact, break our alliance, but at least he did not put me on the slop, and if he did I certainly would have had to go on a cleansing fast for the day as that was something truly dreadful! It basically smelled like burnt oatmeal and I adore oatmeal! But that is another story.

As suddenly as it began, the day was over and we found ourselves stumbling from the intense microcosm of the "Big Brother" house into the cool night air and the sobering "reality" of our true selves. We all really did bond with one another, which is what we as human beings are innately programmed to do. As we walked out of the house, there were photographers everywhere! I have never been so happy to see photographers and light bulbs flashing! I spotted one of my favorite photographers, CLIFF LIPSON in the line up and I literally ran up to him and hugged him with tears in my eyes and just told him how great it was to see him!

After the photography session, somewhat sheepishly, we housemates righted ourselves, said goodbye to one another, then climbed into our cars and drove to our own homes flung far and wide under the starry California sky. I was exalted to be free once again. What an incredible experience that was, my friends! I pondered so much about life and human relationships during that time. I just can't wait until the new season of "Big Brother" begins. It is going to be amazing, so get ready!!!!!!!!!!!! We can all learn something about life and relationships by watching this show. There are all kinds of beautiful people out there.

Best, CHERYL WOODCOCK

P.S. -- Good luck to all the housemates -- and never forget when you make an alliance with someone, look into their eyes deeply because the eyes are the windows to the soul. ... Namaste

I don't agree with Grodner on this, nothing makes the HG's sleep more than that darn slop~

Is it time to change the food penalty?
Slop is pretty bad. But we should find out if there's some suggestions out there. I'd be open to them. Maybe a fresh new food for the summer — awesome! But here's the thing: Just by naming something slop, you've already got something that's negative, and people dread it. It certainly creates drama, whereas peanut butter and jelly did not. Also, peanut butter and jelly creates a situation where people get lethargic, whereas at least slop is protein-fortified and nutritionally balanced
