I was just thinking that the winter edition of BB will not be quite warm enough to use the swimming pool but they still can use the hot tub. The houseguests probably will be inside the house more especially during the evenings. I can see them hanging out at the round table or the living room.

I don't see how they will make summer BB10 work -- with only two months to redecorate the house and cast -- or maybe they will start the process while filming BB9 (the casting I mean)
Good question Michael! I'm guessing since BB9 is most likely to air it's first episode on Thursday, February 7th and the finale will be on Tuesday, April 18th and then they probably will do casting calls right away in preparation for BB10 set to start airing on Thursday, July 3rd and the finale being on Tuesday, September 16th.

isn't it still hot in California during Feb/March/April
I live in So Cal and the weather is so unpredictable it could be in the 90's that time of year during the day but usually the nites are always cold at least by our standards the low 50's. Last year we had one of our coldest winters and the nites went down to the 30's all of our palm trees died... it was so weird to drive around and see dead leaves on everyones palm trees. But our days are around the 70's so if anyone sits out at nite they will be wearing jackets. So they will probably do as you said Will be inside like a lockdown situation and find things to do inside. Might get boring if they don't have things for them to do inside. But if you think about if someone comes from lets say Minnesota they might be in shorts and a tank top at nite. Our weather will be wonderful for some that come from Snowy, below 0 temperatures. And since were in a drought we can only pray for rain...

CBS has made it official. There will be a 9th edition of Big Brother. Well duh! The announcement is kind of late in coming since they announced the casting schedule last week. I guess they deserve a little slack because the writer's strike has all the nets scrambling for content.
Big Brother casting director Robyn Kass made it official in her blog last week when she told us Big Brother would be "coming back a little earlier this year."
Although no official date has been announced. I'm thinking late January or early February. It will be interesting to see how they schedule it. If it remains the traditional Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday schedule that would put it in conflict with American Idol on Tuesday nights.
And if Survivor comes back early we would have Survivor and Big Brother on Thursday nights. And if The Amazing Race comes back early we would have The Amazing Race and Big Brother on Sunday nights. That would make winter a lot more fun!
CBS also confirmed that Julie Chen will reprise her role as the Chenbot and Alison Grodner will Executive Produce.
Grodner told the NY Daily News "We have been told by CBS to get ready for anything, so there's nothing that is certain at this point. It is a wait-and-see. We are preparing for anything. We really want it to stand out. We want it to be special, because we've never done something like this before. I promise you it will be different from any other 'Big Brother' you've ever seen."
On the subject of "America's Player" don't expect to see it again. Grodner told the Daily News "That's really hard to do twice. Anyone coming to be a part of 'Big Brother' this year would know about it and we'd hate to have people act differently because they think that the viewers are in control. That doesn't mean that it couldn't return in some other way, but doing exactly what we did again, no."

I told my family I was going to try out and they all said at once "you couldn't be gone for 3 months, what would we do" I felt I had a shoe in telling BB9 I needed to go to their house for 3 months so I could have a vacation :lol3:

WGA Calls "New" Deal a "Bad Deal," Rejects Offer
Well, that didn't take long. The WGA has swiftly dismissed the "New Economic Partnership" put forth by the AMPTP on Thursday, saying in a statement that "for the first three days of this week, the companies presented in essence their November 4 [pre-strike] package with not an iota of movement on any of the issues that matter to writers. Thursday morning, the first new proposal was finally presented to us. It dealt only with streaming and made-for-Internet jurisdiction, and it amounts to a massive rollback."
The WGA reports that with regards to Internet streaming, they were offered "a single fixed payment of less than $250 for a year's reuse of an hour-long program (compared to over $20,000 payable for a network rerun)." For made-for-Internet material, the AMPTP "continued to refuse to grant jurisdiction," "they made absolutely no move on the download formula" and "continue to assert that they can deem any reuse 'promotional' and pay no residual (even if they replay the entire film or TV episode, and even if they make money)."
Talks are scheduled to resume on Tuesday. Says the WGA, "We must fight on, returning to the lines... in force to make it clear that we will not back down, that we will not accept a bad deal, and that we are all in this together."

It's usually a summer show. Now it looks like we'll be doing a winter edition."
Indeed. Thousands of hopefuls have already shown up for calls in Los Angeles, New York and South Carolina. Ahead are calls in Chicago, Kansas City, Atlanta, Oregon, Tampa, Columbus, another New York date and more, all through Saturday (Dec. 1), for a cast of "12 to 14 in the 'Big Brother' house," as Grodner says.
As the Writers Guild strike goes on, such fare is an obvious option for networks. Typically, the parts of reality shows that are scripted are written by non-union writers, so they remain unaffected by the guild's actions. Grodner is well aware many consider the writers' loss to be reality's gain, but she says, "My feeling is that a work stoppage is not good for anyone." She also says, "I have a business where I continue to develop shows, and certainly I talked to CBS about doing other shows before the strike. Reality and alternative shows are already such a big part of the television landscape that it's not so much a matter of there being new productions as of these shows being used to fill multiple time slots."
The winter edition, "Big Brother 9," will likely have some season-specific twists. "I think it would be in the show's best interests to make sure a midseason event is different from a summer event," Grodner says. "But the things people like will continue to be a part of it -- the social and psychological dynamic, the soap opera feel of it all."

Big Brother 9 After Dark is getting axed in favor of a having Sequester house filmed. The sequester house will be filmed by a regular TV crew it will not be a 24Hour live feed. The show will air on ShowTime from midnight to 3 AM on a daily basis.
In a recent interview with Alison Grodner it was confirmed that there will be no America’s player. “That’s really hard to do twice,” Grodner said. “Anyone coming to be a part of ‘Big Brother’ this year would know about it and we’d hate to have people act differently because they think that the viewers are in control. … That doesn’t mean that it couldn’t return in some other way, but doing exactly what we did again, no.”

Due to last seasons prolific rule breaking Big Brother 9 may institute a 3 Strikes rule, and any contestant who knowingly or unknowingly breaks 3 of the golden rules, is called to the DR and summarily dumped without a word to the other HGs, then replaced by an alternate HG. Strict lights out policy and wake up times. Serious regimentation. Chores. Etc…. Almost to the point where the season would be referred to as Big Brother Boot Camp.
Go back to the nominees picking someone they want to play them in the POV, as opposed the picking a “blessed by god ping pong ball”. If that person the nominee selected wins the Power of Veto they have to take you off the block.

Network plans ninth edition of 'Big Brother'

With hopes for a quick settlement of the WGA strike dimming, CBS is getting ready to unveil a revamped winter sked -- and that includes moving forward with plans for an in-season edition of reality hit "Big Brother."
Ninth installment of the summer staple will make its bow Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m., Eye insiders confirmed Monday. Julie Chen-hosted reality skein will also air Wednesday and Sunday nights at 8 p.m.
On Tuesday nights, “Brother” will act as a lead-in for “Jericho,” which will return for its second season Feb. 12 at 10 p.m. CBS revealed that news to fans of the show Monday afternoon via its website.
CBS will announce other January and February sked changes later Monday.

The Loft, A nightclub in Denver was host to a Big Brother 9 casting call on Thursday Dec 6th. The casting calls is reported to have attracted more than usual attractive women,
Chladek Zimmerman attended the casting call and had this to say “it was horde upon horde of Hoochie Mommas”.
