do you think the teams will fly from Billund to Brussels?

As far as I am aware, Denmark and Belgium do not share a border, and so driving would require teams to go through Germany, and possibly also the Netherlands. I have no idea how long the drive would take - but TAR doesn't often have teams drive through a country without any tasks there (although there are exceptions).
I'm thinking there is a flight at some point... :duno:
-
Did I really just watch that? Possibly the most bizarre TAR preview clip ever!I'm confused about the Legoland task. There must be something more to it than 'Ride the teacups'.
Perhaps the biggest thing we can gauge from the teams being in Legoland is that they don't take a train to Brussels. Billund is a long way from the nearest railway station, but it does have its own airport. Sun Air flies from Billund Airport (near Legoland) to Brussels three times a day, but here's where it gets interesting.
We strongly suspect that 6th July was our filming date, and the three flights were as follows:
0725 > 0850 (Unlikely that they caught this one)
1225 > 1400 (Possibly intended, but this flight is listed as being cancelled on the 6th and 7th of July)
1750 > 1915 (Likely)
The only sighting we have in Brussels is a Facebook post timestamped at 10.06pm after teams had checked in. Though I'm not sure if this is local time or Peach's Facebook time..
-
Detour in Brussels, Belgium (Bodybuilding OR ??? )
what about:
1. Energy building (eating a Brussels Sprouts): http://www.livestrong.com/brussels-sprouts/
- or -
2. Body language (reading a body language from a Belgian body language expert): http://www.centerforbodylanguage.com/about-us/
p.s.
Since they're racing to Belgium on the 2 episodes of TAR 19, do you think that the 3d animated film, The Adventures of Tintin will boost the box office earnings worldwide after showing those 2 episodes? :duno:
-
They are assembling/doing something in the teacups, look at the table. Perhaps Lego?
-
I was shocked when I saw the preview, teams are going to be in speedos flexing?
kind of too much, don't you think?'
at first, I thought they were muscle suits, but looking closely, no they seem to be the real deal.
This is either a sign of desperation for ratings or extreme creativity.
I'm stunned that all teams don't seem uncomfortable with the idea.
-
I'm more stunned that Bill is in good shape at this age.
-
Oh, and also... next leg's task master <3
-
still, it seems that the amazing race team are putting more and more "contestant taking off clothes" task in the race.
I wonder if there's a reason?
I'd laugh though if this is the first amazing race episode that excites people in a different way

Actually no. I would have hope for Nat and Kat or Brooke and Claire to strip anyday.
Every season there's more or less a task contestant has to strip, be it swimming, running naked in winter times or whatsoever. If their main ideal is to let people strip, they would have called everyone to strip for the water roadblock in Phuket leg 2, the water detour in Phuket leg 1, the malawi detour last leg... so many instances and chances for them to "strip".

Who can find the theatre??

Copenhagen --> Billund --> Brussels

Legoland is in Denmark as well. That seems like a RI to me because the RB is also in Denmark. It can't be one side of the Detour if the Detour is in Brussels.
It seems like teams could fly because Legoland is right beside the airport.
Is this the leg with the pitstop at the Atomium or is that the next one?
-
Who can find the theatre??
I would guess that it is in Odense. HCA was born there and it is on the way to Billund.
It doesn't look like a really proper theatre though. Maybe a smaller place?
-
Who can find the theatre??
Got it :yess:: it's The Theatre Museum in the Court Theatre in the Christianborg Palace in Copenhagen - http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=www.teatermuseet.dk&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBoQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.teatermuseet.dk%2F&ei=KybBTojEEerz0gHJpITdBA&usg=AFQjCNG93l4T96NCNeD7cZm4B5qoMGCakw
Check out the facebook link at this page - lots of great pics!
-
They could take a train to Billund. I once did this route myself & it's not too far & the trains were very convenient.
-
Great find caper!
I just spent an hour NOT finding a match. I had figured it was part of an old private residence, but didn't think about the royal residences! :groan:

Now can you find where they do the Muscles from Brussels?

It's a person guys. The Muscles from Belguim is Jean Claude van Damme
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Claude_Van_Damme
A guess would be somewhere in the town of Berchem-Sainte Agathe, which is his hometown
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berchem-Sainte-Agathe
-
They are assembling/doing something in the teacups, look at the table. Perhaps Lego?
Agree! It seems like they have to assemble something with Lego before the teacups stop / stay in the teacups until finish~
-
Legos.
-
I think I noticed something about the muscle competition.
All the men look hairless. I wounder if they have to shave or wax their bodies?
-
I think it was the Legos here that made me look at Legoland vs all the other amusement parks in GE
-
The muscle location looks more like a palace/castle/theatre type place. It doesn't look like your typical gym or pose down location. There is a beautiful tapestry and big ornate white pillars.
Could this be 1/2 of the detour and then the Legoland puzzle is the other one and Jeremy and Sandy had to give up on the Legos?
-
So you guys are saying, their going from the pitstop to Billund, where they do that teacup challenge, then go somewhere else in Denmark and do the roadblock, and then go to Belgium to do the Detour?
-

From the pitstop they are going to the theater for the RB. The theater is in Copenhagen, look at Caper's post, it's in Christianborg Palace. Then they go to Legoland which is near Billund (identified by Chateau) and then they go to Belgium for the muscle show (presumably the detour).
-
The Amazing Race
Release The Brake! (Brussels, Belgium) Ep 10!

Great find! Sounds like we've found our Mustangs..

I don't think the Legos can be part of the Detour because then they will have nothing in Belgium except the Pitstop. Why fly somewhere for that? Doing an ARI at Legoland makes sense because the airport is literally in their backyard.

I know everyone is seen doing the posing and the Legoland task should be after the roadblock. So it can't be a FF but it sure looks like a green envelope
The ride they are on is the Pirate Carousel at Legoland. It is in the middle of the park so they have to walk a little ways. I can't believe there were no tweets from there.

In pic 19, is that a plane ticket?
It must be a train because I don't think there is any flying on this episode. Cindy said they had a four hour lead but lost their ticket. I guess they end up bunched with everyone else.

it's only for 19 Euros, so must be train ticket. :snicker:

Hmmm, so are we going to GHENT too??
-
I'm glad to see them use the trains. They are frequent enough that a bunching shouldn't be needed. (But I haven't researched that.)
-
 yep, it's a European Railway ticket (issued by DB) ;)
(typical ticket shown below)

I say it's a FF on the Legoland task and 3 teams namely Ernie & Cindy, Marcus & Amani and Jeremy & Sandy will race for FF prize but none of them will complete it because probably all of them got puked on riding a barrel-like shaped carousel just like Sandy did on what we'd saw on a preview of that next episode, and they'd wasted it. Damn! :(

just a couple of things...
1. everyone does the legoland task.
2. everyone picked the "muscle competition" detour choice, which is why we do not see a 2nd task.
-
ha, in cap 13 that blue box must be this lego box, the lego pieces are inside and they must get the box somewhere before getting in the tea cups
I also got it last time when I visited Legoland
-
Do we know if there are any tasks taking place in Germany, or are we simply riding through?
-
What's this I see?

It looks like a folded map to me. May be a Legoland map which is included in the clue envelope?
Edit: I think I'm right. Look at this Legoland interactive map and PDF: http://www.legoland.dk/da/Oplev-LEGOLAND/ It's green :)
-
I think you're right Tarfan2! We've also heard some hints that there would be no FFs this season..

And the more likely ride where the task is performed seems to be "#38: Pirate Carrousel" (look at the interactive map: http://www.legoland.dk/en/Explore/)

While everyone has probably made this deduction, yes, that is the DB reservation office in the Hamburg Hautbahnhof. I was just in there booking a train trip a month ago. It is just inside the entrance seen in the other photo, to the right when you walk in. Very cool to see a place I've been so recently featured, even if it is just en route.
19 Euros is too cheap for a ticket to Belgium. It either says a higher amount, or it could just be a reservation, as some trains require seat reservations, while others do not.
-
:welcome: to RFF FishyFred! :waves: Thanks for the info!!

Great job everyone!!
But do look through all the posts...we have some great finds here, straring with Chateau's find of LegoLand AND the ride!! :hearts:
The next episode goes to Legoland (http://www.legoland.dk/?lc=en) in Billund Denmark  :hoot:

On second glance it may actually be 29 Euros, but screencap is low res. :lol3:
-
This is the best I could do with it. I wouldn't put too much effort into it, though; it might be planted, just like the passport (there's a transition, a distinct break, between E/C exiting and the camera zooming in on the ticket).
-
Okay, bear with me all : With the first set of screen caps I was leaning towards an art museum as the location for the muscle task. Now I am thinking it is at a hotel ballroom. I think it may be at The Conrad in brussels. I haven't found a direct pic of the stage but I've come across some other pics of the conrad ballroom and there are other paintings on walls that look similar to the one on the stage, and the style of the walls looks the same. Trying to set up link but having problems .... Will keep trying!
-
Could the muscle thing be an Active Route Info instead of a Detour?

-

I don't think there's a Detour

I don't think there's a Detour
I'm starting to think that too. Or maybe there's an unaired side of the Detour.
IF there is no Detour, and the Roadblock is in Denmark, we'd have.
PS->RB->RI->Trains->RI->Task->PS.
Being the trains a bunching point, I have to think this leg is either a NEL or a TBC. IF not, producers are SO EVIL!

“It’s Speedo Time” (Brussels, Belgium) – After a potentially game-changing error, one team hopes for a lucky break, and donning only a Speedo for their Detour task, Racers get in touch with their inner exhibitionists, on THE AMAZING RACE Sunday, Nov. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Emmy Award nominee Phil Keoghan is the host.
We know the speedos are definitely part of the detour.

I am thinking this DETOUR could well be in Ghent. The castle itself doesn't seem to have a room like this that I can find though...

 it's not a painting, but rather a Flemish Tapestry (a piece of thick textile fabric with pictures or designs formed by weaving colored weft threads or by embroidering on canvas) which are plentiful in Belgium. Could be anywhere. :(

AOL just posted a new article with some new press pics. I think these might help us find the location? Ghent IS known for its Flemish tapestries!

No Doubt!! Slowhatch gets it!! Awesome!
AND it is in Brussels...
So...let's take bets. Do we see anything in Ghent? A RI at the Castle? Or do they just wave from the train?
-
My guess is that Ghent is in Leg Ten
-
Episode 9 has the following:
at least one task in Copenhagen
travel Copenhagen to Billund
at least one task in Billund
transportation from Billund to Hamburg and Hamburg to Ghent
I don't see how there will be room for anything else in episode 9. I strongly agree with Dom El. Major Ghent tasks will be in episode 10.

apskip,
Slowhatch proved that the Detour is in Brussels.

Wow, Great job Slowhatch!!! I was way off :-[

nice pic and Phil have muscles! :yess: And that'll make Jean Claude Van Damme and AHrnold put to shame, not even to that macho king guy from the anime series Fate/Zero in which I'm watching it right now.

I know I've said this before, but doesn't anyone else agree that this speedo exhibitionist task a bit... much?
Again, either a sign of desperation for ratings or creating thinking (who am I kidding, it's just not right)
anyway I've read in the previous article that it's a detour, so teams have a choice between it or something else, they pick speedos. I guess the other one must have been hugely time absorbing
P.S I know I've been obsessing over this whole exhibitionist thing, I guess it's because I know families with kids that watch TAR and when I think about them watching this episode... .... ... yeah, you get what I mean

It does surprise me to see how TINY those bikini bottoms are, but I'm not offended by it. The racers seem pretty relaxed and even enjoying themselves! I do wonder how much will have to be blurred for the censors....
I don't have a problem letting my 7-year-old daughter watch it. I did spend a lot of time in Europe as a child, so I am probably less inclined to think of skin as scandalous.

Could they have really been 4 hours ahead of Bill and Cathy at the Pit Stop last leg? It didn't seem like it. Or does she mean something else?

This confessional clip confirms that there is a resting point (may not be a Pit Stop) at the Atomium! On the other hand, the clip could be from the end of the leg that airs on November 27th.
Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmzluCNyq00)
-
So, it's not just a walk up a finish easily task. I wonder how many points they need, maybe at least 15?
I wonder if Andy and Tommy were about to get a high score and that is why the clip cut off, so we would not know they are in first.
It looks like that despite the first two tasks, everyone will be bunched on mid-leg transport and this silly judged task will determine the order. :groan: Poor leg design.
-
I believe Cindy says in the video that they need 12 points from the judges to pass.
-
Ernie and Cindy have the "We're Eliminated Face"
-
^^ Promo 2 is now up!
Somehow I don't think this one needs caps!
-
This clip of Ernie & Cindy at the Atomium occurred close to 4:00 am on July 7th when we found the tweet about Race activities there.
I'm going to say that was the Pit Stop of the second part of racing in Belgium. So we will see this Pit Stop on November 27th.
It's easier to fit the Panama leg and the Finish into July 7th to July 10th. I can't fit in an additional Belgium leg into that!
-
That's why I think this leg could be a TBC. They wouldn't have time for a confessional at the end of this leg in that case. I'm not sure why else they would save up the questions.
With the odd structure of this leg it would also make sense.
-
Good bye Bill/Cathi :'(
-
Phil told us at the beginning there were 12 legs this time, if TPTB are compressing the rest period, they might bring back the no rest period pit stop which gives us two legs and doesn't make Phil a liar.
-
haha i agree with u joab
-
Phil told us at the beginning there were 12 legs this time, if TPTB are compressing the rest period, they might bring back the no rest period pit stop which gives us two legs and doesn't make Phil a liar.

If the bodybuilding challenge is the only challenge before the Pit Stop, then I certainly hope that this is a TBC - otherwise someone is going to possibly be eliminated because they can't pose! :res:

Maybe Ernie & Cindy arrived just on time to board the first train to Germany, while the rest stayed in Denmark for the following one. After the ticket loss, they can't go in the first train to Belgium, thus waiting for the rest of teams?
-
I think they drive to Hamburg and get on the overnight train there.
So the train is from Hamburg to Brussels.
-
:yess:
I am not too worried the order of the next two eliminations but as long as it is Ernie&Cindy and
Bill&Cathi - the latter for U-turning Laurence and Zac.
-
So with teams being spotted at the Atomium on the 6th July and then Atlanta on the 10th July, it seems very unlikely that we have time for a second Belgium leg and a Panama leg in between.
I think its pretty clear what we have instead. Teams will make their way to Parc Elisabeth (guess) on the afternoon of the 6th only to be told to keep racing. This will send them out to Ghent and potentially Lommel for Leg 10 before coming back to the Atomium for the true Pit Stop. They started counting TBC legs separately as of last season, so I'm betting that's what we have here in Belgium.
-
Ernie and Cindy have the "We're Eliminated Face"

Already covered the second Belgium leg question yesterday!
I know the promo said the "Amazing Race Express" goes from Denmark to Germany to Belgium but I think they self drive into Hamburg Germany from Legoland.
It's not a train from Denmark. :knuckles:
-
Go see the Updated Summary in post 4 guys, all is well!

Where does parc Elisabeth fit in? ??? Could that be our mat location?

And good time shot for the Detour! :snicker:
-
IF the Detour is performed by Amani & Marcus at 10.10 PM, I don't think it's a TBC if Ernie & Cindy have a confessional at night in the Atomium.
I mean, if they were told to keep racing, go to Ghent, complete tasks and get back to Brussells' Atomium for a Pitstop next leg, definitely it wouldn't be at night.
-
And good time shot for the Detour! :snicker:
Oh that's what that shot is supposed to be for? :lol3:

IF the Detour is performed by Amani & Marcus at 10.10 PM, I don't think it's a TBC if Ernie & Cindy have a confessional at night in the Atomium.
I mean, if they were told to keep racing, go to Ghent, complete tasks and get back to Brussells' Atomium for a Pitstop next leg, definitely it wouldn't be at night.
Isn't it possible it is 10:10 AM ? They have alot to do between the pitstart and the muscle in Brussells.
-
The pitstop at the Atomium is for NEXT episode, remember?
-
10:10 am makes sense when you remember that they have arrived on an over-night train.
-
Did anyone else besides me notice in the Promo 2 video that Bill and Cathi aren't shown in any frames with the other racers when they are all 'tanning'? You can see the pillar with the candelabra on it in the scene of Bill and Cathi getting tanned that appears to be the same one behind the crowd of other racers but they're not there.
-
So with teams being spotted at the Atomium on the 6th July and then Atlanta on the 10th July, it seems very unlikely that we have time for a second Belgium leg and a Panama leg in between.
Already covered the second Belgium leg question yesterday!
I know the promo said the "Amazing Race Express" goes from Denmark to Germany to Belgium but I think they self drive into Hamburg Germany from Legoland.
It's not a train from Denmark. :knuckles:
Can I ask why you think they are self driving to Hamburg? I've been looking back at tweets and such, and saw no info. Is this a hunch, or based on spottings, or possibly based on train schedules? Thanks in advance :)
-
I think I have your answer. The rail/bus connections from Billund to Hamburg require these connections:
Vejle
Fredericia
Kolding
Those take a along time. It is not that far from Billund to Hamburg by car, only 154 miles, so that could explain why teams are self-driving: it makes good sense.
-
And we had promo shots of Hamburg's Train Station. That would not make air if it was just a stop. The place where Ernie & Cindy dropped their ticket was Hamburg's station.
Somebody already got it, the overnight ride they take is:

I can't wait to see the rating numbers for this episode, who knows how many people turn up to see the racers in bikinis and speedos :lol3:
If those numbers are really high, I wonder how CBS is going to react? maybe ordering a fully nude challenge in the next season :groan:
nah, I'm kidding B:)
-
The problem this week was that many people take the whole week off for Thanksgiving in the U.S. and travel this weekend to avoid the outbound rush, and then return Friday or Saturday to beat the inbound rush.
Gas at over $3 a gallon? Higher airfares than a year ago? Won't stop most of them.
So it is hard to say what the numbers will look like on the overnights.

Did anyone mention this? The Hans Christian Andersen quote was on an "amazing" plaque...

Did anyone else notice the cluebox in Hamburg? First cluebox of the race?

Who said the title? I didn't catch it.

Who said the title? I didn't catch it.
It was unseen...but either Andy or Tommy as they went into the dressing room, sounded more like Andy but :duno:

Can't someone in this group do voice analysis to determine the correct answer? ;)

Pretty sure it was Tommy.

btw the speedo posing this past leg was indeed a detour even though cbs didnt portray it that way.
Yep.

I think CBS made a mistake in not specifying this task as a Detour on-air. Some of the racers were clearly not comfortable with the skimpy outfits, and if the viewers were under the impression that the contestants basically had no choice but to go through with the task, it could put the show in a bad light. But if everyone knew that teams had been offered another option, it would seem less like they were 'forced' into it.
In fact, I'm surprised that everyone chose this side of the Detour. Do we have any idea what the other was?

Brussel sprouts?
Bristles from Brussels?
Missles in Brussels?
Bustles in Brussels?
Tussles in Brussels?
Minuses and Pluses in Brussels?
Crushes in Brussels?
Busses in Brussels?
Fusses in Brussels?
Dr. Suess's in Brussels?
Your guessels about Brussels are as good as mine. :duno:

Wonder what the other option for the Detour was? Must have been bad if everyone chose to do the Speedo option.

I really like either Brussels sprouts or Mussels in Brussels as the DETOUR. However, the most famous food in all of Belgium and particularly Brussels is in fact pommes frites (AKA French fries or Freedom fries) with the most delicious mayonnaise on top you could ever imagine. So those 3 are all too positive to have been chosen. However, a treasured but not as favorite food in Brussels is eels in green sauce. It's unbelievably delicious, but teams might have had some qualms about an eating challenge because World Race Productions has been known to pile the quantities on to ridiculous levels in food challenges.
Maybe after at least one of the current top 5 teams is eliminated we will get the answer to this mystery question!

I thought French Fries are from France?

They are, but the best pommes frites come from Belgium. Just ask anyone in Europe who travels around the European Union. Or better yet, go to Brussels and taste them for yourself.

poor kid here, I'll take your word...

Here's the special thanks. I didn't see any mention in the credit roll for Bjarne (http://www.nkbooking.dk/?IId=1522&EId=3), who's made a good living portraying Andersen.

I've been in Brussells, and what you have to ask for lunch/dinner to try once is "des Mulles et Frites".
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moules-frites
About if it's or not a Detour, here's a clear shot if it was.

I have wonders if teams asked there cab driver if they knew how to get to the other Detour and the cabbie said no, or was unsure. Making them all choose the Speedos.
I remember in TAR 9 leg 3, when teams had to either search though Russian nesting dolls or clean a trolley. The cabs knew where the dolls were, but all the cabs had a hard time finding the trolley place. Many took the trolley Detour, but had one hell of a time finding it.
"The Detour for this half of the leg was Scour or Scrub. In Scour, teams had travel to Dubrovka Theatre to search among 1,500 pieces of Russian nesting dolls to find one of 10 microscopic clues hidden inside on this doll. In Scrub, teams had travel to a trolly bus depot at 8 Trolley Park to thoroughly wash a Russian public trolley bus, respectively. When the bus is cleaned, a bus driver would get their next clue."
Wiki.

My guess it was either impossible to find or it was an eating task. We can be pretty sure from the show that no one even tried to drive over to that one so they all had to have decided when opening the clue to do the speedos. I wonder if the close proximity of teams after that mid leg transport caused them to believe that following the others was the best choice. But that doesn't seem to explain why no one seemed to consider changing.
The other idea I've had is that something went wrong with the other task from a production standpoint and they were forced to do that one. In this case they would not have had time to change out the envelopes. I am still kind of surprised that their editors were not good enough to delete those frames showing the yellow envelopes.

MIGHT IT WAS mussels OR Musscles
