CBS has just announced the fall season and TAR 19 will premiere on Sunday Sept 25 at 8PM!!
Sunday, Sept. 25
7:00-8:00 PM 60 MINUTES (44th season premiere)
8:00-9:00 PM THE AMAZING RACE (19th edition premiere)
9:00-10:00 PM THE GOOD WIFE (3rd season premiere)
10:00-11:00 PM CSI: MIAMI (10th season premiere)
Thanks mswood for the head's up!
-
That's what I expected.
Let's see if my guess of December 4th for the finale proves right or not.
-
There were a lot of complaints about the Survivor finale being so close to the holidays last year. Since they will be 2 eps ahead of us, wonder if the plan is to have the Survivor finale first this year? Leaving us stuck with 12/11 lol.
-
Doesn't look like we have to worry about the Country Music Award's! Survivor does though!
The 45th ANNUAL CMA AWARDS will take place on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, live on ABC-TELEVISION at 8p (ET), from the BRIDGESTONE ARENA in NASHVILLE.
-
My thinking is that Survivor would have its finale on the 11th, as the 18th is too close to Christmas the following weekend, and CBS usually airs a holiday themed movie the Sunday before Christmas.
If were not losing a week for the CMAs then we'd have 11 weeks straight, with the slight possibility of a two-hour finale on December 4th. (I strongly suspect The Good Wife will be taking a break until mid-late January by then, and that would make it convenient for those sort of programming; just as much for CSI:Miami.
-
Goodness, I've got a flight leaving the US the night of Dec 10, it better be Dec 4 so I can finally get to some sort of party! (Last chance!)

I would strongly suggest CHANGING that flight!! Go via JFK instead! Your presence is required!!
-
ABC announced today they're taking over the broadcast rights for the Hallmark Hall of Fame, so there's a chance that CBS may yet use December 18th for Survivor, and give TAR 12 weeks straight from September 25th for a 12-episode season. With all the route uncertainty, there may or may not be 12 legs (or their equivalents); we'll have to wait and see when there's better information.
-
Thanks Theschnauzers :jam: That really does help the timeline considerations. I was having fits fitting things into December 4th  Much more comfortable now!
-
Thinking of when and where AR19 will touch down in the U.S., I will be at JFK on Tuesday afternoon. However, the chances of viewing Amazing Race F3 landing are poor because it always happens in the morning so the rest of the day can be for tasks and transportation.

Go early! Take a camera!

Expect TAR to be delayed more often and for a longer period of time by NFL football this fall. Apparently NFL rules have have changed to require video reviews of more plays than in the past. Each time this happens, the game will stop for a few minutes while the officials huddle around monitors and confirm or overturn rulings made on the field. This will lead to longer games and more frequent and longer delays to the start of TAR 19, at least in the Eastern half of the US. :(

My flight's timing was pushed ahead by twenty minutes, and I used the excuse to cancel the flight... New York, here I come!

I've checked the 506 blog website, and FOX has the NFL doubleheader this coming weekend. Looking at the national schedule for NFL telecasts, it appears that most of the season will have CBS and FOX having doubleheaders on Sunday with alternating pairs of weekends most of the season, rather than every weekend.
But we may still have some CBS markets on the east coast feeds getting the late (4:15 ET) game, so I will update the information once it is available later this week.
-
There are areas getting the CBS east coast feed who are getting a single late game on Sunday, and may have to contend with a delayed start to the CBS prime time schedule on Sunday for the TAR 19 season premiere.
http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk3.html (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk3.html)
The involved games include New Tork at Oakland, Baltimore at St. Louis and Kansas City at San Diego; areas affected include much of the mid-Atlantic (parts of upstate New York, metro NYC. New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, some areas of Virginia, parts of Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa (part of the St. Louis market), most of Minnesota, North Dakota, and parts of Wisconsin, and much of eastern lower Michigan. (I'm not listing the areas of the west coast getting those games because the shouldn't be any time delay.)
-
CBS has sent out an Eye-lert confirming what I posted above. If you are in an area affected by a run-over, you should get an updated Eye-lert on Sunday.
-
Thanks for the updates!
-
It was delayed on the east coast 25 minutes and I just about died HOW DARE they delay TAR with something so unimportant as football!
-
Jareb, only some east coast markets were delayed, if you'll read my earlier post about the506 blogs' map for today's NFL games.
Next week is a CBS doubleheader, and all of us living on the east coast feed from CBS will have an overrun to deal with.
-
Football is important.
-
This just in -- this coming Sunday will be Andy Rooney's last appearance on 60 Minutes. At age 92, he is finally retiring. http://www.tvline.com/2011/09/60-minutes-andy-rooney-exit/#more-254766 (http://www.tvline.com/2011/09/60-minutes-andy-rooney-exit/#more-254766)

thank god one more g0min with him i was going break my tv

According to CBS it will be his 1097th "essay." And its already been recorded for broadcast.
Meanwhile back to the NFL and its doubleheader on CBS Sunday.
All markets getting the east coast feed on CBS are getting a late game (no blackouts, in other words), unless there is a switch for some other reason by Friday. http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk4.html (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk4.html). The games are Denver at Green Bay, New England at oakland, and Miami at San Diego. We should anticipate CBS holding all areas until the last of the three games are over so there will be only one overrun. THose who have subscribed to the CBS Eye-lerts should look for one on Sunday evening.
-
The Cincinnati TV area market will not have a late doubleheader game on Sunday, due to NFL home market blackout rules. (Apparently the Bengals game was not sold out.) I'd be surprised if they get TAR on time, since they are the only east coast feed market without a late game this week. A couple of other east coast feed markets have switched between late games, but they are still getting a late doubleheader game.
The Friday Eye-lert has come in:
An NFL runover on Sunday, 10/2 could delay start times for 60 Minutes (7pm ET), The Amazing Race (8pm ET), The Good Wife (9pm ET) and CSI: Miami (10pm ET).
If so, you will receive a message on Sunday with exact details of revised start times.
Thanks for registering for this CBS Eye-lert.
-
I'm not surprised the Bengals game isn't sold out.
-
Don't you guys have sports channels?
-
We have separate sports channels, but our normal news networks also play local\interesting NFL games in the afternoon, just before prime time, which can cause an overrun. :)
-
The NFL has four different packages for all of its games in the regular and championship seasons, and some pre-season games.
Two broadcast networks broadcast the games that are aired on Sunday afternoons, and can overrun into prime time. Those networks like it because it gives them a big boost in the audience ratings for their Sunday night prime time programming.
A third broadcast network gets to air a game on Sunday nights during prime time (usually kills all the other programs on broadcast or cable channels.
A fourth package is held by a cable sports channel that is affiliated with the fourth broadcast network.
I won't even attempt to explain the collage football set up for broadcasting, because all fourth networks have such arrangements on Thursdays to Saturdays, and their are some syndicated packages as well. It is so complicated it's impossible to explain. Needless to say, I can see how non-Americans can find the whole thing confusing.
-
The second half of the Patriots/Raiders game just started at 554pm. That means we can expect 60 Minutes to start around 715pm unless CBS elects to continue with finishes of other games.
-
At 630pm EDT the Patriots/Raiders game has 13:38 left. There is no change in my prediction.
-
Per CBS Eye-lert:
Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:22pm ET), The Amazing Race (8:22pm ET), The Good Wife (9:22pm ET) and CSI: Miami (10:22pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NFL.
-
As I've mentioned previously, both CBS and FOX are having two weeks in a row for NFL doubleheaders, in part due to other sports programming -- in this case, FOX is carrying the Major League baseball playoffs and World Series for the next three weeks.
CBS has only two late games, New York Jets at New England, and San Diego at Denver. Except for most of Missouri, and small areas of nearby states (Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas,) all of the areas getting the east coast feed are getting the Jets v. Patriots game. There are no areas subject to NFL blackout rules.
I'm sure CBS will be sending out Eye-lerts across the board this week for any overrun.
-
Jets/Patriots is 2 minutes left at 713pm. You can expect 60 Minutes to start around 730pm and the Amazing Race around 830pm.
-
Haven't figured out how to copy and paste on an Android Tablet, but the CBS Eye-lert gives a start time for TAR as 8:35 pm ET.
-
60 Minutes just started at 736pm.
-
Even though FOX has the doubleheader this week, quite a few markets that get the east coast feed will have a single late afternoon game, and a good chance of a NFL overrun. The games include Houston at Baltimore and Cleveland at Oakland. Areas gmenerally include much of Texas, the St. Louis area, all of Michigan, most of Wisconsin, most of Ohio, metro Atlanta, metro Charlotte, and the central mid-Atlantic (Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, and nearby areas of the Potomic River valley.) There could be changes before Sunday,
-
The only change for an east coast feed market is the Dayton OH market which has been switched toone of the late games.
-
I've got my keyboard repaired on my notebook so links and proofreading will be a lot easier than on a tablet. The two late games on CBS this Sunday are Pittsburgh at Arizona and Kansas City at Oakland; FOX has the doubleheader.
Affected east coast feed areas include: metro Chicago, eastern lower Michigan including Detroit, eastern Ohio, all of West Virginia, most or all of West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and D.C., but excluding the metro Philadelphia area, metro Charlotte, metro Tampa, metro Atlanta, and a large area in the Great Plains including most of Missouri excluding St. Louis, all of Kansas, most of Nebraska, and small areas of western Iowa and northern Arkansas.
Next week, CBS has a doubleheader (October 30th.)
-
Some other east coast feed markets have shifted their NFL games to the late afternoon. These markets are Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio, and Spartenburg, South Carolina.
-
7:20 start for TAR folks in Pittsburgh, maybe Kansas City. Regional late games suck. Well, so do the double-headers, but at least everyone starts late. With regional late games, I'm finding out who gets Philiminated before seeing it on television.
-
Or you can watch our live stream!!
-
This weekend's CBS late game map link: http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk8.html (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk8.html)
Most of the country that gets the east coast feed is getting the same pair of games for the doubleheader: Miami at New York Giants, and then New England at Pittsburgh. Northern Ohio as the home market, is getting the Cleveland at San Francisco late game, and much of the rest of Ohio and Kentucky is getting the Cincinnati at Seattle late game.
There are currently no blackout markets on the east coast feed, so it looks as if the entire east coast will get the same delay this week.
-
There have been no updates for the late games on the east coast feed, so we'll be waiting on the CBS Eye-lert for updates. If you watch CBS before TAR airs, CBS may have a on-screen Eye-lert with the revised schedule on Sunday night.
-
All of the country is seeing a CBS late game with the exception of the Denver viewing region because they will see the Denver game on FOX.
I wonder if that market will be delayed to sync with everyone else. Otherwise they will get a lead on the rest of us.
-
Not if they are already 2 hours behind.
-
You're right, I'm crazy :lol3:
-
The dividing line between the east coast feed and the west coast feed is generally the time zone line between the central U.S. time zone, and the mountain U.S. time zone (with minor exceptions where some markets have that dividing line running through their market area.)
Some markets do shift feed depending on whether daylight savings time is in effect; which is my way of reminding everybody that daylight savings time in the U.S. ends for the year on this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning at 3:00 a.m. DST (2:00 a.m. standard time.) This will affect international viewers who watch at the same time as the U.S. east coast feed. (In GMT/UTC, the east coast feed broadcast time changes from GMT-4 to GMT-5.)
-
Basically, everyone is "screwed" in terms of an early TAR start time. Steelers vs. Patriots = a fleet of penalties. So 100% delay (penalties make games longer than normal). However, probably not a 75 minute delay. Keep in mind that all the late CBS games have to end before they start 60 Minutes during a National/Network double-header.
So, according to CBS Sports (http://www.cbssports.com/cbssports/schedules/page/nfl), TAR will be delayed nationally about three more times (for football this season, hoops and golf not until TAR20). That does include the finale. Meant to post this earlier, but I am still in the battle against procrastination (and whatever else). Should be over in about a week or so lol!
In brief, nothing the next two weeks (save for regional late games for the fans' local teams, but then everyone's affected on 11/20, 11/27 and then 12/11.
-
CBS Eye-lert says:
Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:29pm ET), The Amazing Race (8:29pm ET), The Good Wife (9:29pm ET) and CSI: Miami (10:29pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NFL.
-
First, the U.S. returns to standard time on Saturday night-Sunday morning at 3:00 a.m. DST, 2:00 a.m. standard time in each local time zone. (So does Canada, btw.)
Second, that means for our international friends outside of North America, the show airs one hour later.
Finally, FOX has the doubleheader this week. CBS has two late games, Denver at Oakland and Cincinnati at Tennessee. Markets currently shown as getting the single CBS game in late afternoon, and possibly dealing with overruns, are: most of South Dakota and parts of Nebraska, metro Dallas market, metro New Orleans market, metro Tampa market, metro Atlanta and all of north Georgia, the metro D.C. and Baltimore markets, (which include parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and much of Maryland, and a large are covering most of Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk9.html (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk9.html)
-
Doesn't our usual feed originate out of Tampa? For some reason Tampa keeps seeing Denver games which are always in the later slot. I can't imagine why they keep showing those :lol3:
(Atlanta keeps getting that game too peach)
-
Both Tampa and Atlanta are home markets for NFL teams in the National Football Conference. Under the rules the NFL has in place with CBS and FOX, both the FOX and CBS station are limited to one game when there is no sellout at the stadium within 72 hours of the kickoff. And if the home team is away, then that game has to be aired; what usually happens is that the other channel carries a game that does not air against the home team's game.
When there is no sellout, then the local station of the network with the doubleheader can only air one game, and that's why the506 weekly maps may have some local areas in gray.
-
There have been a few CBS markets that switched games for Sunday, but the only ones of consequence are two stations in Nebraska that have switched from an early afternoon game to a late afternoon game. Some of this may be areas of Nebraska getting the east coast feed, but its hard to tell for sure.
-
Tell me again what happens for :meme ??
-
Tell me again what happens for :meme ??
You and I both get late games. :'(
-
Hmmm. Okay, I will need a bit more info before deciding whether or not to post an on time stream or a delayed stream. If the majority of the East Coast wil be on time...may go with that. Otherwise, we can do delayed?? Somebody keep me posted on Sunday please??
-
The only other areas that will be affected are most of Kentucky and Tennessee and parts of Louisiana and Indiana.
-
Prophet, read my earlier post, thanks.

Peach, Population-wise, most of the east coast markets won't be delayed, but to check the feeds you have available click on the link in my previous post; it goes to the506 map of the CBS games for this Sunday. Areas in blue and yellow are this week's late games. If you need help send me a PM, and I'll do what I can.
-
If you go to the scheduling thread and look for my post from Wednesday, you'll find a link to a map that shows the NFL games for CBS, and the areas in blue and yellow are the late games this week.
Each week's map is different (i.e., colors are chosen by the blogger) so don't rely on colors each week. I will note that FOX has the doubleheader next week again, so we'll be in a similar boat again next week (some areas on time and some having overruns.)
It actually looks like only Baltimore and Seattle could see a late CBS game next week. That is the only 4:05 game on the schedule.
:yess:
-
Other markets get games besides the local markets for the teams. We won't know until Tuesday which markets will be taking which games per the network, and local stations can seek approval to switch to a different game up until the Friday before the Sunday. The maps change every week.

The West Coast never gets delayed due to the 3 hour time difference (the game starts at 1:05 out here), so only Baltimore would be affected.
-
Plaidmoon and Prophet, the map for next week isn't even posted until tomorrow. Simply because only one east coast team may have a late game doesn't mean only that local market is the only one carrying a late game. Other NFL home markets, especially those where there's no sellout may also end up with a late game, and other local markets may choose for local reasons to air a late game (such as a popular player from an area may be in a game being played late).
Just wait until tomorrow afternoon for the map to come up and then we'll know the state of NFL overrun potential in the east coast markets.
-
With only one late game on the CBS schedule for Sunday, there are only seven markets on the east coast feed that currently plan to air the late game. southeast Florida (Miami) and the Florida Keys, metro Atlanta, metro New Orleans, metro St. Louis, metro Cleveland, and the central mid-Atlantic region (metro Washington, metro Baltimore, metro Philadelphia, which amounts to all of Delaware, Maryland, southeast Pennsylvania, the eastern panhandle of West Virgina, northern Virginia, and southern New Jersey.)
Most east coast markets will not air a late game, so for most of us, TAR will not be delayed this week.
A heads up that three of the next four weeks CBS will have the doubleheaders, so we can plan on episodes 9. 10 and 12 definitely having NFL coverage overruns.
-
Update: While there were some game switches in local markets, none of them changed the markets getting that one late game so the description in my last post is it for Sunday night.
-
Cleveland, Baltimore, and Atlanta are the only East Coast markets who should have an overrun. :yess:
http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk10.html
-
Swell. :res:
-
Well, the good news is that when you're delayed three times over the following four episodes (including the finale), you'll be delayed with the rest of America! No one would get a head-start!
-
Cleveland, Baltimore, and Atlanta are the only East Coast markets who should have an overrun. :yess:

Prophet, you got it wrong. Please look at the map more carefully. I stand by my summary above.

You're right  I missed Miami and included all those New England states in the Baltimore market :groan:
Next week probably all of the Eastern and Central zones will be delayed by the Titans/Falcons game. (Some markets will see the Bears)
CBS also has the doubleheader on the 27th so most of us can enjoy this one week of normal airing for a while.
-
Do you guys know what games would potentially still be playing at 8 pm on the West coast?
-
Probably just the NBC game of the week, so you'd be safe.
-
Yeah, every game except the NBC one is always off by 7:30-8:00 Eastern time.
-
FYI...
CTV is broadcasting Ep. 09 at 19:00 this Sunday.
The 2011 American Music Awards are on at 20:00.
-
okay thanks!!
-
Yay, early feed! It'll be over before ours 60 minutes goes off with football delays.
-
CBS has two late games on Sunday as part of the doubleheader -- Tennessee at Atlanta and San Diego at Chicago. One market is not airing a late game -- metro St. Louis and adjacent areas of Missouri and Illinois. I'll be on the lookout for the CBS Eye-lert on Sunday evening for the announced time delay once the late games are over.
-
#CBSAlert: Due to Live NFL football on Sunday, #AmazingRace COULD be delayed for East/Central Time Zone viewers, check here for updates
from Twitter
-
CBS Eye-lert:
Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:25pm ET), The Amazing Race (8:25pm ET), The Good Wife (9:25pm ET) and CSI: Miami (10:25pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NFL.
-
This coming Sunday is another doubleheader Sunday for CBS, with fewer available games (as three NFL games are being played on Thursday afternoon and evening). While there are two west coast markets not getting the late game for the doubleheader, all east coast feed markets are getting either New England at Philadelphia, or Denver at San Diego. The Tampa, Jacksonville, and Orlando markets in Florida, and much of the Great Plains are getting the Denver @ San Diego game; although it doesn't matter as CBS will send the audience for the first game to finish to the other game.
Not likely there will be any further changes with the long holiday weekend in the U.S.
-
It's going to be a late finish for Patriots at Eagles on CBS. The third quarter has just started at 600pm. Expect approximately a 720pm finish to the game.
-
Yes, a majority of the east coast is seeing that game, but I'm seeing Denver\San Diego, and that's where our feed sometimes comes from so who knows... :duno:
http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk12.html
-
It won't matter which game finishes first, as CBS will send that audience to the other game. We won't be having a spilt east coast feed this week.
-
That means a delay then for most of us?
-
For sure, Yes.
-
Okay thanks.
-
CBS has switched over to Denver/San Diego for the East Coast. There is less than 2 minutes left. However, it is now a 13-13 tie and is likely to go to overtime.
-
Denver and San Diego are now going into Overtime. It is unclear when this will finish.
-
San Diego just missed a 53 yard field goal. There is only 2:31 left in the game, so it will be over by no later than 750pm. With 5 minutes of commercials and CBS recaps 60 Minutes should start before 755pm.
-
Denver kicked a field goal to win it 16-13.
-
Finally  Really late start :groan:
-
Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:52pm ET), The Amazing Race (8:52pm ET), Person of Interest (9:52pm ET) and Person of Interest (10:52pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NFL.
-
60 Minutes started at 7:55 pm. I don't care what the CBSEye Alert says.
-
CBS has sent out a revised start time revision:
Revised start times for tonight's CBS programs: 60 Minutes (7:55pm ET), The Amazing Race (8:55pm ET), Person of Interest (9:55pm ET) and Person of Interest (10:55pm ET) due to CBS Sports live coverage of the NFL.

Thanks TS for the newest update!
-
OK, December 4th, CBS has only one game going to each market, and only one game that is in the late afternoon slot (Baltimore at Cleveland). However, a number of NFL home team markets are carrying the late game because of the NFL home market rules. So far, the home team markets with the CBS east coast feed that will carry the late game include: Houston, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland (and northern Ohio), Baltimore and Washington (including the Delmarva penisula but not Philadelphia), and Minneapolis (and central Minnesota). If any NFL teams do not get a sellout, there may be other markets added to this list by Friday.)
CBS games by market (map) December 4th (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk13.html)
-
theschnauzers,
How could this game possibly be a FOX Early Game:
Denver at Minnesota?
That's an AFC team playing at a NFC team, which is always a CBS game, not FOX.
Could the www.506.com mapmakers have made a mistake?
-
Edited for clarity:
Since much of the country is getting Denver at Minnesota as an early game on FOX, I'll have to guess that it has to do with the blackout/sellout rules. (When there is a sellout in a home market the local station of the network with the game gets to air that as their one game for the day. And as to the visiting team market, CBS is shown airing the single late game it has (Baltimore@Cleveland) in the Denver and surrounding team market.) So the maps are showing it properly with the NFL blackout/sellout rules.
If there are errors, that site is pretty good about updating game changes by Fridays, so I'll be checking then to see if there are any changes on their maps.
-
Update: Only two markets switched to the late afternoon CBS games. The Fargo, ND market (which is on central time, barely) and the Grand Junction, CO market (which is on Mountain Standard Time) switched, and only Fargo gets the east coast feed.
All the other changes for the CBS stations were between different early games, so we're set. Most of us will not have any delay this week.
-
okay thanks! As of this writing we will plan to use an ONTIME feed unless something changes.
-
The map for the late CBS game (http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/2011/wk14.html) on Sunday is pretty straightforward. Everyone on the east coast feed, except for the Buffalo market, is getting the same game: Oakland at Green Bay. The Buffalo market is getting the Buffalo at San Diego game. While two markets have no late game (Phoenix and Denver), those are markets not on the east coast feed, so they won't affect what the east coast feed watchers get.
-
CBS Alert: Due to Live NFL football on Sunday, The Amazing Race COULD be delayed for East/Central Time Zone viewers, check here for updates
-
My first projection of actual Amazing Race finale start time:
Packers/Raiders has gone to halftime at 557pm. That means 2nd half start 612pm. With a typical 80 minute second half, that puts us at 732pm before the 5 minutes of CBS b.s. that follow late games. That makes AR19 finale start time of 837pm. Yuck!

apskip, the Packers-Raiders game seems to be turning into a blowout, and if that trend continues, then the second half may end up being faster than normal.

the schnauzers,
It is a blowout, but the 3rd quarter took as long as either of the first 2 to play. There was 13:32 left in the 4th quarter at 702pm. It will finish later than 730pm. Green Bay has its 2nd string quarterback in and is doing a lot of running plays, which Oakland is expecting and stopping.
