I think TARA 4 timeline will probably the same as TARA 2... auditions in Feb, race in July, but most probably 11 legs again too.
And oh please I hope they don't give a lame "shoutout" slogan like "toughest race ever" because... it's just insulting the efforts of the other races. They have their tough portions too.

I'm quite sure there will be another TARA, IMO the tasks are a lot harder than the more recent TAR seasons, the only think that I would criticize is that there are a lot of mactors and celebrities, although it really doesn't matter since they race just to race instead than just the money, and most have coped well with the stress, but I just hated the miss universes (the one that made the comment of being treated lower than humans). But still, I like the fact that they don0t forget about the third place team in the final leg :cmaslol

TARA 3 is really the toughest race ever IMO.
I mean, a normal race consist of just a Detour, Roadblock and probably one or two Route Infos which requires only teams to get from one place to another.
But for TARA3, remember their Route Info involved washing a whole bus? Fixing a jeepy car? Buying items for the poor and many many other hard tasks? There were so many tasks for one episode that they had to make one episode 90 minutes long too!
And how many race do we actually see SO MANY TEAMS QUITTING THE ROADBLOCK or the race? Haha.

Although India legs have been overdone recently, if you examine Amazing Races 1 to 12 you should conclude that the India legs were among the best of any seasons where they happened. India was visited in these Amazing Races

Those include the bull-surfing, the suspense of the end of AR4 ep.7 when Chip/Reichen were battling Tian/Jaree, the failure of Brandon/Nicole to get their heads shaved for a Fast Forward, the "We've got a broken elephant" line from Gretchen, Joyce choosing to get her head shaved in a Fast Forward, and the Holi celebration. The fact that India is proven fertile ground for first-class episodes has to be why World Race Productions keeps going back.

Not that I know of, I think they are still to come! This news from BVM is the first confirmation that there will be a TARA 4 that we have had.
If they follow previous schedules though, applications and Interviews could start soon, and the race could perhaps be run in mid summer again.... (my guess only...)

Let's not get lulled into complacency. To show ARA4 starting January it could be run in September, leaving only 3 months for post-race editing etc. This may have been a nice cover story by Allan Wu to keep us off the scent of the ARA4 trail by misdirection.

I think what Allan stated "next year" means the casting will start on next Feb~the whole timeline will just like the previous season. I dont think TARA 4 will be casted on step 2009 and aired on Jan 2010~

If it's going to be ready to air before next September (ie, when TARA5 was supposed to air), they'll have to be starting filming within the next two weeks -- ActiveTV, the production company making the show, has a MAJOR live broadcast on Australian television on the 19th of December this year, and I can't see Michael McKay trying to run both things at the same time. On the other hand, if they start after Carols In The Domain (the event in question), then they won't have enough time to edit the episodes to air roughly in time with TAR16.

SPECULATION:
I assume TARA 4 will follow the current edition's rules. This means 12 legs, and with 10 teams, expect the first leg to be an NEL. I also believe that the race adapt a similar course to TARA 2.
My personal guess for the start/end country: Cambodia. TARA 3 had teams fly directly to their final destination in the starting country, but in a different city. Phnom Penh/Siem Reap would fit this pattern.
Since TARA likes to spend two legs in one country, here are what I believe to be the other countries that the producers will consider:
Philippines (Cebu) Malaysia (Borneo) Bandar Seri Begawan Indonesia Australia Qatar/Kuwait/Bahrain

woah~ that's a thought! but he has TONNES of catching up to do since Phil has 16 seasons until his belt already, and poor allan only has 3....
I know. Allan will probably have 5 by the end of this year. We don't even know if China will have it's 2nd season. While TAR 17 is already confirmed.

I assume TARA 4 will follow the current edition's rules. This means 12 legs, and with 10 teams, expect the first leg to be an NEL. I also believe that the race adapt a similar course to TARA 2.
My personal guess for the start/end country: Cambodia. TARA 3 had teams fly directly to their final destination in the starting country, but in a different city. Phnom Penh/Siem Reap would fit this pattern.

No, I don't think they're talking about any filming. The first twitter was asking whether the other wants to "do" the Race & the 2nd twitter responded by suggesting to do the Race next week & something else instead that day. So most likely they were planning to rewatch past seasons.

Here's the speculation thread, so here's my two cents:
It's highly likely that unlike past editions, the TARA finale will not be in the starting country (we've got 2 legs there already, right?)
I also have doubts over the two countries that contribute to the craziness of the route: Sri Lanka and Japan (trace the map and you'll see what I mean). Of course, I've lost track of the numerous sightings, so feel free to prove me wrong.
Finally, I conclude that 12 legs is probable.

No way! The filming of the race is just the beginning of the adventure, not the end...Just because the racers stop racing, doesn't mean the detecting finishes. People are still blogging and posting holiday photos when they get home from their trip. Teams to identify, known locations to research further, flight options to narrow down. Still plenty to do on both TAR and TARA for any one who wants to join in the fun. *hint* hint*

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay - With the majestic Mount Mayon greeting the racers upon touch down, "The Amazing Race Asia" travels to the Philippines with a pit stop here in magnificent island resort of Misibis Bay. Touted as the series' most expensive production yet, Legazpi City and Misibis Bay Resorts host the Asian version of this popular reality TV race in an effort to show the world how beautiful the Bicolandia region is.
A handful of media people were flown in to Legazpi with the two-man Philippine team of Richard Herrera and Richard Hardin (also called 'The Riches') to recreate the tasks on the race-or perhaps to torture them.
"It was one of the most physical legs [in the race]," admits Herrera. But he did say that when they found out they were going to the Philippines next, "We were very, very excited..."
"We were hoping that some part of it would be in Manila," Hardin states. The other teams, they've had home court advantage... the Malaysian teams, they both [finished first], right? We were hoping we could move around Manila. 'Cause we were pretty good in Manila, Alabang... Me and Rich (Herrera), north, south... we've been there... Makati." But the boys didn't have such luck.
Hardin, who came to the Philippines roughly six years ago to play basketball for the MBA, has traveled to several provinces before. "I've been to Mindanao, Cebu, Osamis... But Legazpi, not once..."
The Riches, as with the rest of the racers (including the other all-girl Philippine team composed of Jess James and Lani Pillinger), were faced with a Detour once they got to Misibis Bay. With two tasks to choose from, the hardy boys boldly went for the one where they could literally get down and dirty. Between the "Jig" (wherein they had to learn some dance steps to the severely LSS-inducing "Ibalong" song that told of Bicol's early epic tale of heroes) and the "Pig" (a more physically demanding task at that!), the look on the boys' faces as they relate their experience told us we're in for hours of TV fun... at their expense!
Of their choice to mud wrestle with wily pigs, Hardin kids, much to everyone's amusement, "I saw some of the ['Ibalong'] moves...It's not my style!" He adds, "I'm more of a hip-hop guy," demonstrating he's got some swag right there on his chair.
Posing a challenge to the members of the media, the Riches helped recreate their soon-to-be proudest TV moment-it certainly would go well when they watch the episode with their friends, which they often do-with a couple of press people. Indeed, the task seemed daunting, and the pigs (much smaller this time than the ones in the actual race) obviously weren't too happy.
"We kind of squeal like that on the show sometimes, too," Herrera drawls. But the real danger is in what the eyes can't see. "He was cut up from head to toe. He got pounded. He was rolling around in the mud," Herrera says of Hardin, half in jest and half with pride.
"Oh, I would say there's more than [just] mud. There's just things in the bottom of the pen... it cuts you up," Herrara adds, shaking his head. "I actually went in with shoes, but I take them off because they would get stuck." Needless to say, the clothes they were wearing then were ruined for good.
Hardin reveals that for the task, somebody rubbed what he says was vegetable oil "on our arm and our chest."
"The guy was having too much fun putting it on, too," Herrera jokes.
"The crowd was going insane," Herrera says, recalling the task. Indeed, there were about 200 people who cheered the boys on, shared Misibis Bay resort manager Ian Varona. And Herrera exclaims, "I think it was the most Tagalog that I spoke in the entire leg!" interject
At the pit stop, over by the amphitheater overlooking the sea, a short distance above the Misibis Bay resort, the racers were greeted by the ebullient Tessa Prieto-Valdez in a colorful gown of roses and a matching headdress designed by Pepsi Herrera, styled by Eldzs Mejia. A source reveals that the ever-quirky Prieto-Valdez has, in fact, become one of the production team's favorite greeters in the entire race.
While there is still a long way to go to determine the winners of "The Amazing Race Asia," the Riches could at least reveal one thing-a valuable lesson. "Keep your mouths closed," Herrera dryly says. "First hand experience... it does not taste well."
Indeed, pushing themselves to their limits, the Riches might have still made it past the Philippine leg-they wouldn't reveal anything, no matter how hard we try (bribes and plying them with alcohol do not work). Retracing the racers' path, the media also visited the Ligñon Hill Nature Park, where tourists could also go on several zip lines with a view of Mayon; as well as the Cagsawa Ruins, where tourists could visit what remains of the bell tower when Mayon erupted in 1814, burying the main church and the reported 1,200 people that sought refuge there. Cagsawa Ruins could be reached via an hour-or-so ride on All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), which the racers did-as did the media, led this time by the unstoppable Riches.
"We ran as hard as we could all the time," Herrera reveals as much of their racing strategy. "But it doesn't necessarily mean it was in the right direction... So we try not to run too far in the wrong direction."

hmm, base on spoilers and my observation of episode 1
i think the full leaderboard will be
1st: Ethan & Khairie 2nd:Richard & Richard 3rd: Jess & Lani 4th: Claire & Michelle 5th: Ivan & Hilda 6th: Dimple & Sunaina 7th: Hussein & Natasha 8th: Sahil & Manas 9th: Alan & Wendy 10th: Yani & Nadine
I'm glad that with Ivan and Hilda's elimination, this is wrong! But the first 3 eliminations have been accurate so far... So I actually feel that this list is generally correct, perhaps a few switches here and there. I still see Ethan and Khairie winning it all, and the Richards coming in second place. Hmm...

I saw the commercial too. But the product they are endorsing isn't a TARA sponsor. I think it's a local commercial in Indonesia (based on what I remember, the commercial is about a telecom product like Smart or Globe). It's just maybe a local sponsor in Indonesia like what we have here in the Philippines. Just my thoughts.

it's sony ericsson in partnership with Axiata i think which are sponsors of TARA. i dont think they win... i think they are finalist. the winner gets the commercial for the major sponsor. probably the Sony LED Bravia TV or even a Sony 3d TV.

I'm speculating that the race visit South Korea , I just open the official TARA 4 website and seeing AXN Travelpicks , it's displaying New Zealand , Indonesia , and South Korea , as we know they visit Indonesia & New Zealand , means maybe that visit South Korea . As we know leg 8 was in Indonesia , and leg 9 was speculated for Japan , maybe leg 10 was in South Korea ?

Well, I think it is quite apparent that it is not accurate, nor is it believable, as teams from the US version were seen running in LAX (hence their finale is in Mainland US).

It is wrong. Based from the preview of ep 10, teams went to South Korea, not Japan (I know how to differentiate Japanese and Korean). Or maybe I was wrong, and they went to North Korea. Hail Kim Il-Sung!

My speculation is that they'll end in a different country (after spending 2 full episodes in Malaysia, and about a third of the third episode in KL). Although I could be wrong as they may still follow tradition.
I was wondering though, about the preview, as some described it, there was a task shown with M/C shooting an arrow at a photo of J/L. I wonder what this is for?

My dad is currently working in The Philippines and i visit the country almost every year and I LOVE the country. Why would i want to speak against them. Filipinos are one of the friendliest bunch of people i've ever met.
But i'm stating my opinion, or rather, i made my opinion based on truths which i've seen. If you're a fan of The Amazing Race Asia facebook page, this is what you'll normally see -
I am definitely happy that TARA is reaching out to SO MANY filipino friends. But because of the vast outreach, most of the comments are also from them. And hence when you read a distasteful comment about any other team except their own home country team, most of the time it will come from a filipino. Hence that was why i made that comment.
However, i rest my case here. I apologize if it offended anyone.

I don't like to watch the Asian version. The shows seems have its own orientation of choosing rich&famous contestant, the tasks is so lame, almost every season the same task with same gadgets (nokia or watever), and unfriendly host unlike Phil. And the misunderstanding concept about "race around the world", in fact they only race at least 2 continents, except the second season which travel 4 continents, but if you look at the route map, it is not race around the world literally, it just only a half way, without passing the american continent. and they claim to have the first all-female team to win the race history. come on, Amazing Race Asia vs The original Amazing Race ?? zzz

I disagree with the unfriendly host partt.
In fact I see Wu as a very friendly host who seemed to be almost smiling. And I don't like the way he introduced the show every episode with "...in a race around the world". :lol3:
Nobody can beat Phil with TAR being host but Wu's hosting is mediocre at best (my opinion only. Wu fans don't hate me lol)
Again, Rovilson Fernandez from TARA2 will beat Wu any day of the week when it comes to hosting

They need to cast people who are genuinely fans of the show. I don't mind mactors as long as they are fans of the show and apply the same way as others. However, some of these racers are being approached by casting producers. We need more ordinary people with interesting personalities! I'm unhappy with how the racers are famous or semi-famous. Some of them do not even want to be there! Im not even interested to watch it anymore if it continues to be The Amazing Celebrity Race Asia(generally). Even if I tried to apply(in 4 years' time :lol:), I have to accept the fact that my chances are slimmer compared to a model or actor.
Im not trying to start a flame war but this is my opinion :( Sorry if this post annoys anyone.

No matter what kind of abs Allan Wu have, he is not a really good host. I got weird goosebumps when he says " In the race around the world" with that strange gesture as if they really going to be race around the world. He has no common sense of humor if two teams collide at the pit stop. usually he get serious in his face when this happened. he don't deliver an elimination confirmation speech to the unfortunate team in a good way.
Although Phil Keoghan don't have good abs (i think), HE IS THE TRUE SYMBOL of THE RACE AROUND THE WORLD. He can communicate to the teams really good. and yes, they are racing around the world, and he says it in a very cool way without strange hand gesture.

Here in the Philippines, people are used to seeing abs like that on our celebrities so that's quite common here. I'm not undermining his abs and his efforts at getting it like that but still, TAR and TARA hosting doesn't require the showing of abs so that's quite useless on the topic at hand. :groan:
But being male, if TAR hosts are females, I'd love them to be sexy also :lol3: so there, that proves I'd understand the female viewers love for Mr. Wu. :lol:

Its on Singapore and I do believe the finish line will be on Marina Bay Sands and I do believe that the Singaporean girls will win $150,000 prize there because I saw them that they're smiling towards to the pit stop on that commercial. How coincidental if Singapore will be the finish line and those rebel girls on that country will win the grand prize. :lol:

I'd just saw a TV commercial on AXN for the final episode of TARA 4 and I know which final city will be and Wikipedia got it right, this time. Its on Singapore and I do believe the finish line will be on Marina Bay Sands and I do believe that the Singaporean girls will win $150,000 prize there because I saw them that they're smiling towards to the pit stop on that commercial. The Philippine Team really did not have an advantage because the Philippine leg was in Albay. Believe me, not many Filipinos have been to Albay, so the Riches were as clueless as the other teams in terms of directions there. Language/dialect wise, the Riches don't speak Bicolano which is the dialect in that part of the country so no advantage there also.

Sa Marina Bay Sands ang Finale....kasama ko sa bahay dun xa nagwowork...nakita nya cla Richard naunang dumating sa baba ng building tapos kasunod cla Hussein...nakakaiyak kasi di pinansin ng friend ko...di kasi xa nanunuod ng TARA...sabi nya daw...parang yan ung pinapanood nila ate Margie...ayun tiningnan nya lang...nagtanong lang ako sa housemate ko kasi may nabasa ako ditong sa Marina Bay ang last stop....waaaa sayang...ang lapit ko na...kung alam ko lang...nag leave ako sa work...so far good news...meaning malaki ang chance na baka The Riches ang nanalo...kasi sila Claire nabigyan pa ng 30 minutes penalty...last week pa daw natapos yng race... Go go go...

Im really dissapointed in the route for this season. Anyways I want the Richards to win!
TARA 2 has the best route up till now i believe.. but one team spoilt the entire season for me.. for this season.. they seemed to be visiting places visited before already! :cmas15

If you've watched TARA, especially this season - they have given small penalties here and there.
For the first episode, at the football challenge - for every ball you fail to block from the goal, you get a 2 minutes penalty.
For the Australia episode, if you fail to win against few pros at a game of rugby within a time frame, you get a 10 minutes penalty.

It looks like SBS, an Australian channel that specialises in foreign language shows and less-mainstream sporting events (and South Park, oddly enough) is looking to buy the rights to TAR Asia. Will that make Australia the first place to get three versions airing at the same time if they get it on quickly, or is there some overlap between where TAR Asia and China Rush aired?

Yeah, they all aired at the same time, but I think this is the first time we'll have three versions airing at the same time in the same market. Unless TAR17, TARA4, and TARCR all aired in Hong Kong.
