CBS Locks in Date for Upfront Presentation
By Josef Adalian
CBS is pushing forward with its annual upfront presentation to advertisers.
The network has locked in Wednesday, May 20, for its dog-and-pony show, CBS sales chief Jo Ann Ross said. As per recent CBS tradition, the event will take place at Manhattan’s Carnegie Hall.
“We have a real great season-to-date story to tell and we expect that story to continue,” Ms. Ross told TelevisionWeek. “We are feeling very, very good about our performance thus far.”
CBS is far and away the most-watched network for the 2008-09 season, averaging 11.9 million viewers compared with second-place ABC’s 9.1 million. In adults 18-49, CBS and Fox are tied with a 3.2 rating.
Ms. Ross said it is unlikely CBS will make any radical changes to its upfront presentation.
“We will go with what’s worked,” she said. “We are the stable and consistent network. When we have basically a captive audience of our key clients and decision makers, we want to merchandise ourselves. I don’t think we are going to, quote-unquote, reinvent the wheel.”
That said, Ms. Ross held open the possibility of some surprises, noting that CBS likes to maintain as much suspense around its presentation as possible, including the details of its schedule.
“Even if I know more than I’m saying now, I wouldn’t say so,” she said.
Ms. Ross said CBS executives never gave any serious thought to dumping the network’s upfront presentation.
“We believe in the value of broadcast TV and of the upfront,” she said. “It was never a scratch-your-head thing.”
Last year, CBS decided against its usual post-upfront party at Tavern on the Green, opting instead for a series of private dinners with clients.
Will CBS go back to hosting a party this year?
“Right now we are focusing on Carnegie,” Ms. Ross said.
CBS insiders, however, suggested the network will hold a party of some sort this year, though details aren’t finalized. It’s unlikely any party would be held at Tavern on the Green.
As for the other broadcast nets, ABC plans to have its upfront in New York at Lincoln Center on Tuesday of upfront week; that’s its usual time and place.
ABC did not have its normal cocktail party following its presentation last year, and there’s no word yet on whether the bar will be open this year.
NBC has invited ad buyers and clients to its Universal Studios Orlando theme park as part of its Super Bowl entertaining. NBC will take the opportunity to hold what it’s calling a “super-front” to present some of its programming plans for the 2009-10 season.
Last year, NBC presented its schedule early to advertisers in what it called an in-front, held five weeks earlier than the traditional upfront week in May. The network said the early presentation helped build integrated marketing relationships between clients and its shows.
NBC plans to have another in-front this year. Its plans for upfront week have not been finalized.
As for Fox, the network is moving its upfront presentation from Thursday—the last affair of the week—to Monday. The CW will take over Thursdays, holding a morning event.

Wonder if swine flu :rfth: will effect the route that TAR 15 takes or could even delay production?I heard they've been discouraging travel to/from the U.S. as well, so probably we'll get a delay. Or maybe The Amazing Race: Pandemic Edition!
The WHO and others are issuing travel advisories - at least for Mexico. I wouldn't expect them to be lifted for at least a month or two.

SHUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!
They went back to China and we all know that SARS was rampant there a few years ago.
They went back to China and we all know that SARS was rampant there a few years ago.
I understand that they TAR didn't go to Communist China when SARS was rampant, I meant to write that that they returned there after the threat had passed. TAR is not going to harm the racers, unless CBS specifically asked for a human sacrifice, then that's different.
But again, I don't think TAR will go to Mexico and when the show starts taping, most likely in June or July, the Swine Flu situation should be in hand. The big thing at that time will probably be a Lindsay Lohan car chase or High School Musical scandal.
Or inflicting the TAR curse on them so they become trouble spots... :neener:
I'm thinking we might get a delay, but hopefully it all blows over soon!
Or maybe TARFE II.

how about TAR College Edition? Teams of 4 Grads and/or Undergrads, teams could be from the same major, club, frat/sorotity, sports team, etc.QuoteOr maybe TARFE II.
A TARFE II would be good. BUT, provided they really do a family race AROUND THE WORLD and not just in the USA. :groan:
I wonder if for a first, TAR 15 starts outside the continental US (like Hawaii or Guam) and the route is from east to west. That's possible, right? It has already gone east to west before
I wonder if for a first, TAR 15 starts outside the continental US (like Hawaii or Guam) and the route is from east to west. That's possible, right? It has already gone east to west before
Do you guys even think they'd start outside of Los Angeles anymore? :groan:
San Diego would be a nice place to start. Bakersfield would be a nice place to start. Big Sur would be a nice place to start. If they want to stay in CA for the start, there are plenty of other cities besides Los Angeles to start. It could always be San Fran...
This is the reverse of 24 when they kept using LA for crises until they finally went to DC this season. TAR used to use different cities until they started with LA for several cycles now.
The actual history of Amazing Race starts in California is:
AR4 - Los Angeles
AR5 - Santa Monica
AR7 - Long Beach
AR12, 13, and 14 - Los Angeles
I consider Long Beach and Santa Monica (completely surrounded except for the ocean by the city of Los Angeles) to be greater Los Angeles
So major california metropolitan areas never hosting thet start of an Amazing Race are:
San Francisco
Sacramento
San Jose
San Diego
Each one of those is important enough and has the air tranpsortation to get teams overseas without much difficulty. I think we will see one or mroe of those in AR15 through AR20
I hope they go to Czech Republic and the Balkan States already... Sweden, Norway, Finland
Possible locations:
Baltic States (Serbia?, Montenegro?, Bulgaria?)
I hope they go to Czech Republic and the Balkan States already... Sweden, Norway, Finland
Possible locations:
Baltic States (Serbia?, Montenegro?, Bulgaria?)
I think you guys got this reversed.
Baltic States are Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. In a stretch, I guess, you could include Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, and Russia, since they all have shorelines on the Baltic Sea.
The Balkan states would be Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovinia, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and parts of Slovenia, Romania, and Turkey.
Again, I'm going to try to predict when they might start filming TAR 15 by analyzing past dates. Sorry if this is a bit nerdy...
My guess makes a few assumptions:
TAR 15 premiers on September 20.
WRP needs an average of 112 days to edit. I fudge the edit days to 107 to fit a Friday start. (Note - the days to edit column is calculated from the start date to the air date. I should probably throw out the edit days for TAR 1 when calculating the average.)
Race will start on a Friday.
Racers have already been selected - the auditions they did in April and May were to promote TAR 14 (and Phil's MS Ride).
So my guess - Friday June 5.
Please feel free to discuss :word:

I'm guessing end June/early July again....If they begin on June I can try and spoil central europe
Unfortunately, even if I do find something, I will not be able to post you guys anything until I get back (July 24th)....
the emmy's are on sunday night september20th on cbsYou're right - I missed that. So I'm changing my premiere date to September 27 since I don't think they would premiere on the 13th then skip a week on the 20th.
June 5 - 6 or the next week of that seems ideal for filming... So we should all keep an eye out on all airports, blogs and photos of the Race... what makes it worse is that many other local 'ala' race shows from different worlds seem to be filming too XP...

Particularly TARA4, which is in the works and looks really similar to our TAR (I still remember the speculation about Prague being in TAR12/Croatia being in TARA2).
GO TO MALTA!
GO TO MALTA!
No Singapore unless they let me/Joab/someone who actually knows this place plan the leg!
It cannot afford any more humiliation! *car wash/running around fountains/manatees/phone product placement*
I wouldn't mind they go back to the Philippines as long as:
1. It's in a major city NOT Manila, i.e. Cebu or a major tourist spot, i.e. Baguio.
2. There are no islands (The producers managed to make the waters of Malaysia/Philippines/Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia look alike to me)
3. The tasks are not very generic.

I FULLY AGREE. OMG.
There's so many things about Singapore that can be done, like spotting a clue from the Singapore flyer (it's lame, but it's still better than washing a car), maybe some tasks which involve finishing up some local food.. (durain, spicy food) or even retrieving a clue in the Underwater World or what.. i still can't believe they just ran to the fountain to collect a clue. Anyway, Neobie.. do you agree that what's the point of going to the zoo in TAR 3.. without even visiting Ah Meng the Orang Utan? It's the pointless...
Phua Chu Kang (who I believe wasn't even the real one)
I would love to see Singapore again!QuotePhua Chu Kang (who I believe wasn't even the real one)
He's the real one.. just that why find a local celebrity to go on TAR when you have so many good things about Singapore? Why bother to promote the "Singlish" (look up wikipedia if you don't know what it means) culture when we're a country so rich in culture and diversity even as a young nation?
What about her history? They can even make them find the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles.. rather than collecting some clues at random places which people don't even know. And the pitstop at Mount Faber where at that location that they chose wasn't even sightseeing over the entire city?
The Singapore leg in TAR 3 was screwed and i seriously hope they come back again and let the world see clearly what Singapore has to offer. This is a callout to TAR producers!! :funny:
**I cannot speak more about Singapore, because I haven't been there and based on the pictures and TAR 3, I can see that it is a very developed and global city. It seems that TAR is picking places where teams will get culturally shocked and not see those stuff in their own backyard.

I don't agree. Because Beijing is developed as well and i don't see teams getting culturally shocked. Guilin seems too urban to be rural as well. If that's the part of China they wanted to show.

What I think about China having a sense of culture shock is the language barrier and the mix and fusion of the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, fused with the modern stadiums with the Niao Chao, water cube and all those... The 10th leg (Part A) was so not cultural for me - but restored in Part B... I had posts before regarding this (but were irked by other forumers :funny:)
What I do want to see is the reverse bungee being done as a roadblock in Singapore... isn't that structure near the Asian Civilizations Museum, where they will literally take a flying leap above the skies? :funny:
OMG... I feel such a traitor for saying these things, but it's my analysis why the Philippines (and Singapore) are not on the list of TAR's to go to country list. If there is something offensive here for my Singapore and Filipino readers and friends, I'm sorry!
(other than making them carry the local roast pig called lechon...)I love lechon, we always have one on Christmas

Yes, that could be done as well.. but it's common everywhere and can be done anywhere as well.. not a Singapore Trademark? I'll rather they go deep down into our dirty markets at Pasir Panjang to carry heavy smelly and dirty fishes where it will then be transported to supply for the entire nation. (gross enough?
And i'm sure they will have language barrier here as well. Large percentage of the population speak english, but the producers can deliberately send them to places where finding someone speaking english is as hard as finding a needle in the haystack. That would kill them as well and give the world a good idea that Singapore isn't as developed a country as they see.
CBS' upfront presentation will be on Tuesday.
Cold Case was just renewed an hour ago. TAR should be back on Sunday night at 8.
I have a bunch of info on network shows, but since we're all concerned about TAR, I'll hold back, but if you want to know, I can create a thread in the "Shows That Are Not Reality" section.
That's right, kogs. ESPN/ABC is on Tuesday.
As do I. But they have some sporting events I have to watch on that channel. Thank goodness TAR15 will not be there!
Even thought Bertram and Elise are against All Stars its not their call its CBS's. I believe that Bertram and crew pulled a list together for the past All Stars but again, CBS had the last say on who they wanted so who knows?.. although I know we all have our own ideas who of who we would love to have on. I beleive All Stars it was stated that they wanted teams whos story was not told ie. they did now want BJ & Tyler or the Chos, thats 2 teams off the top of my head.

Some dynamic teams which i think CBS or Bertram and Elise would include in another allstars would definitely be Margie and Luke, Mel and Mike, Ken and Tina, Terence and Sarah (???), Ronald and Christina, Kynt and Vyxsin (for sure) and maybe even Cara and Jaime.. these are the few teams that really made an impression for the past 3 seasons!
No more Dustin and Kandice. Ewww.Then we could finally compare both sets of girls to see who's better.

No more Dustin and Kandice. Ewww.Then we could finally compare both sets of girls to see who's better.
I'll rather have new all-female teams on TAR 15, than D/K who already had TWO shots in winning but didn't.
I feel that to have an all star season this early would not be that good... Fans vs Favs? Not either... It feels to early to have another all stars, and I'm still quite sick of All Stars 1 and the worst case scenario in AS1 Finale...
And with all that ranting.. Let's stop talking about Allstars because TAR 15 obviously won't be one.
The same sentiment goes for the return of "The Amazing Race" and "Cold Case" to their regular Sunday 8-10 p.m. slots. Eye execs are not known for shuffling shows just for the fun of it, though perhaps "Race" would take a break in the fall and "Undercover Boss" slips in to the slot.

If TAR 15 does not show in September, I might just hurt someone. Any spoiler info yet? They are scouting now, permits etc .. So what sort of spoilers would you expect if they are not racing yet?
If TAR had them, I think it would be interesting to see how the other teams reacted to their profession.

What we should remember is if they plan a show for only half of the season, during upfronts they then list both the fall and spring schedule. So in CBS mind they are giving them the go ahead for season 16. It might not be 100%, but it is the next best thing.
And in all honesty I think it was all due to the performance of the last 8 episodes of cycle 14.
Oh and to be the wet blanket, there is a leaked version of the schedule (and I have no idea if it is accurate in any way shape or form) that lists Undercover Boss as the spring replacement for TAR.
So perhaps we should wait for offical news.
TAR16 looks so weird lol....I can't believe we're already up to discussing seasons 15 and 16 when I started watching with season 5 :hearts:It's almost like watching your favorite movie from 1998 and realizing it's 11 years old

I meant the start of TAR would be last week of September or 1st week of October. Sometimes I type faster than I think. :lol:It won't be the 20th G-Man, thats the Emmy's!!I believe this is CBS' year to host the Primetime Emmys. It'll be either last week September or 1st week October.
I still think late June-early July, like last time....
We already have the 20th of Sept with CBS hosting confirmed, Ken....
...they can always make the teams go to a coffee shop/kopitiam and become the assistant who has to remember everyone's orders.... which may not be in English! that might be chaotic. You mean like at any North American Starbucks?
...
Starbuck's in Mexico are chaotic  the order synthax is the same as in English, but in Spanish grammar it makes no sense XD...they can always make the teams go to a coffee shop/kopitiam and become the assistant who has to remember everyone's orders.... which may not be in English! that might be chaotic. You mean like at any North American Starbucks?
...
Mocha grande latte pour favore...
I am also seeing quite a bit of "chatter" about TAR: Latin America popping up and I believe they also have an airing date in September, so I expect that we may well have some Team sightings of that as well. Kind of like we kept stumbling across the Israel race last summer?
I agree that parts of SA are unlikely to be visited by our race this season though, due to the HN1 flu.
I spoke to someone from CDC about this last week. So far the flu is not thought to be as virulent as first thought, so the risk may be actually dropping. That is not to say that there could not be an resurgence later this season.
The decision on whether to make and stockpile vaccine is still under discussion, so if it is not yet available to the general public, it will certainly not be any kind of a requirement for TAR. There is no vaccine as of yet.
I personally do NOT think that HN1 is going to affect our race much, if at all...other than the common sense precautions of avoiding areas with current outbreaks.
Peach, you're best with the medical stuff - would/should TAR avoid the US? I mean, it's the second worst-hit country in the entire world, no? :groan:
Translation: Even if the schedule is green-lighted, would the filming of TAR 15 be held back because of the flu? I mean, to avoid being caught on a plane with someone sick and ending up being quarantined somewhere...
(I remember how the US treated the rest of the world like **** during SARS.)
If the start date for TAR15 is to be September 27, then the location shoot should begin in June. Today is May 22, so June is just over a week away. And even if the race only lasts 30 days, that does not leave much time for editing and post-production work including voicing.
Any hints through job listings when producers, editors, etc. are being hired for TAR15?
We should be getting some kind of first look at the start if we are alert to the various airport starting gates.
And I doubt that the teams will be seen in any Starbucks in Mexico on this trip.
I'd agree that the problem is more political than medical...
Should CBS be afraid that some country may decide to quarantine all people who have visited [whatever country] in the past [whatever amount of time], throwing a wrench into all the plans?

No. Not now. Not if people don't panic, and there is NO cause for panic now.

I agree. Unless it was as bad as SARS..

I just want them to go to New Zealand or Australia.. higher chances of them having self-driving.
But self driving always spells that all-female teams might be eliminated early because of their way with roads... -____- (Marisa and Brooke, Shanna and Jennifer, Meredith and Maria, Danielle and Dani, Debbie and Bianca and even Dustin and Kandice also landed last on a NEL thanks to bad driving)
And look at the leg there was driving a driving task in TAR 14.. Christie and Jodi and Kisha and Jen fumbled badly too. Sigh..

Zachary, A better thread to put that in would be this one. (http:// forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,15213.0.html)
If I were ever selected for a TAR team (fat chance) the first things I would do would be:but then who will we laugh at if there aren't any screw-ups?
1. Learn how to drive a stick shift car.
2. Learn how to read a simple map.
3. Learn how to leave half the junk I want to take at home, and pack a very light pack.
Who says there can't be a good self-driving F/F team?

I'm not sure you have cause and effect quite right. Female drivers in Amazing Races are typically equal to male drivers, with one exception. Females have a much higher percentage of "no stick shift" driving abilities. That is what does those who have this affliction in.
I absolutely agree with you that, given the alternatives of continuing the high level of taxi rides in the Amazing Race or substituting more slelf-driving, it is much more fun to watch Amazing Racers screw up in self-driving than to have a bad taxi driver do them in.

Dustin and Kandice?Charla and Mirna? Jaime and Cara? ;D More on Dustin and Kandice though, but all female teams had more navigating problems than the other teams.
So how about a special All-Stars with only F/F teams and the catch: the only clues are route infos saying "fly to..." or "drive to..."Who says there can't be a good self-driving F/F team?

As i've already said, it has to be the one and only Lyn and Karlyn.

I'm pretty sure i knew what i was talking about. Female drivers in Amazing Races are definitely unequal to that of male drivers, based on the past races which clearly shows evidences that on self-driving legs, all-female teams tends to have a higher chance of getting lost. (Just look at how many of them got eliminated because of bad driving) And with that said, the only all-female team who has shown extremely extraordinary driving skills IMO is Lyn and Karlyn. No other all-female teams even come close to them.
So, Joab, tell me how the above is superior driving performance? All I can say it is that it was good enough to not get eliminated for navigation or driving even though their average performance was below average.
Joab, I don't believe that generalizations like "female drivers in ARs are definitely unequal to that of male drivers...;
Joab,
I don't think you get it at all. Lyn/Karlyn were below average for female/female teams in driving ability. Remember that 74% of female/female teams did not get eliminated due to driving or navigation problems. Most of those were better than Lyn/Karlyn in self-driving!
You can knock Dustin/Kandice all you want(talk is cheap), but please be aware that it brings down the wrath of Michael on your head. That's something to truly be concerned about. After all, I should know.
And I will always, always rather see a team lose (or succeed) based on their own ability then the ability of a cab driver. In fact I generally hate those episodes where a team loses do to a cab (even if its a team I don't like).
sudden idea...how about: instead of relying on the cab driver, why don't they just get a map and direct said cab driver to the destination like in S1 leg 1?. But in the Ch/Jo case, we know from the interview that the cab driver went on the wrong direction on purpose

Christie & Jodi. :groan:
Well, if a F/F team knows how to ask directions from the locals, and can ask/plead them to lead them to the place, they can have a chance. Except if the locals doesn't speak english, and not that very kind.
Joab,

cdfe88, I think you may be be unkind to that taxi driver in the Jaipur area. My understanding of the episode is that he thought they wanted to go to the Pushkar Camel Fair, which was active at the same time AR14 visited the Jaipur area. The driver did not intentionally take them to the wrong place. He just didn't ask questions and he made an incorrect assumption about where they wanted to go. What I do not know is the extent to which Christie/Jodi challenged that(we saw that they did on camera, but when and how often?). They would have no reason to if they knew the driver spoke good English, but I thought his English skills were marginal.
Anybody know who runs this blog?:
http:// realityracers.blogspot.com <--- don't click on this
It just seems to re-quote TAR stuff - like posts at RFF without much direction. Its really annoying when I'm sleuthing blogs for real TAR 15 info. :meow:
Even more annoying when it posts stuff I wrote without attribution! :gaah:
Are they just using the Amazing Race tag to attract visits and drive up the ad revenue?
"The Amazing Race" In Mexico
Published by: Tim Longpre
We all love reality TV? Who doesn't? Well guess what? One of the most challenging and adventurous reality TV shows is coming to Mexico! Yes, yes...it is The Amazing Race. For any of those who do not know about this game show, here is a little information. The Amazing Race is an American reality game show which has even won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. In this game a number of teams of either four or two members race around the world against the other teams. The team that finally wins the race receives $1,000,000 as a reward. This reality TV game show has been on air since the year 2001; and since then its format has not changed much.
The format of this game show starts in United States where all the teams gather up and then have to follow a set of clues and instructions that lead them around the world. All the teams are given a limited amount of money to cater to their needs and since they are always on the move they carry very few possessions with them. The money that each of these teams is allotted is also used for all the traveling purposes except for their air-line tickets which are bought by the credit cards issued by the production of the game show. Many different countries and cities have been filmed during the wild escapades of these different teams. And now rumor has it that this amazing game show is coming to Mexico as one of the stops.
With the rampant hue and cry about the "flu", Mexico could certainly make use of some very positive publicity. A game show of this stature would not even consider Mexico if it wasn't safe. Let's just hope that they come to Puerto Vallarta. Therefore, this is another way of showing all the prospective tourists that Mexico is safe for travel. But coming back to the game, the producers of this game show have started a poll online, and have left it to you, the general public to cast their votes and decide which country should be featured in their upcoming season. This program will bring abundant economical stability to Mexico which has been suffering because of all the negative publicity.
It won't be the 20th G-Man, thats the Emmy's!!Emmys are moved
I still think late June-early July, like last time....
THE "61ST PRIMETIME EMMY(R) AWARDS" TO BE BROADCAST LIVE ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 13 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
One Week Earlier Than Previously Announced
CBS’s broadcast of the 61ST PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS has been rescheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT), one week earlier than the previously announced date.
"The new date moves the Emmys away from a weekend where CBS has an NFL doubleheader, which can delay the start of prime time on Sunday." said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS. "This is better for the live event, the broadcast and our audience at home."
The original date for the broadcast was set prior to the NFL releasing their 2009 television schedule.

I don't care when we start as long as we do start, and football was great for our ratings last time, so maybe the 20th after all?? :hearts:
It does kind of surprise me they can just up and reschedule the Emmy's thugh, that is a pretty big deal.
Could it even premeire on the 13th? Season 10 premeired on the 17th.The 13th is now where the Emmy's moved Snooks.
Oh, than I am guessing that they would have it premiere on the 27th. More viewers...Could it even premeire on the 13th? Season 10 premeired on the 17th.The 13th is now where the Emmy's moved Snooks.

Panama Cinema Events: Casco Antiguo Shooting
Casco Antiguo, Panama
Panama, Casco Viejo
By Iranovy Grenald
(Article excerpt from la Prensa and Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia)
As many people know Casco Antiguo has been selected as scenario for several shootings before; like commercials, movies (James Bond), mini series (Prison Break), and among another thing. "The American Race" is the next reality show that will use around ten Panama scenarios including Casco Antiguo, Tocumen Airport, and Convention Center Parking Atapla, Stairs of the Canal Administration Building, Rail Container Terminal, Miraflores Locks and the Emberá Katuma Community in their production.
"The Amazing Race" is a big challenge to the producer Jerry Bruckheimer and the creators Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster due to its premise being a race around the world. During the Race, the camera crews need to keep up with the movement of the teams and the host. Phil Keoghan has been the host of the show since its inception and the Emmy-award-winning New Zealand television personality.
The recording team for this reality show will be a group of 80 persons and 40 of them will be Panamanian. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry estimated that they will invest around fifteen thousand dollars in our country for this production.
MUCH more likely to be TARLA....You're probably right. :-[
The entire Southern Hemisphere is currently dangerous, as far as Swine Flu goes, since it is currently our flu season.
I would be surprised if they spent a lot of time in the south, with the possible exception of Africa.
As for me, I'm just trying to avoid getting sick until after I go to the states.
Definition of Travel Health Warning:
4. Travel Health Warning: CDC recommends against nonessential travel to the area. A travel health warning is a notification by CDC that a widespread, serious outbreak of a disease of public health concern is expanding outside the area or populations that were initially affected. The purpose of a travel health warning is to provide accurate information to travelers and Americans living abroad about the status of the outbreak (e.g., its scope, magnitude, and rapidity of spread), how they can reduce their risk for infection, and what to do if they should become ill while in the area. The warning also serves to reduce the volume of traffic to the affected areas, which in turn can reduce the risk of spreading the disease to previously unaffected sites. CDC recommends against nonessential travel to the area because the risk for the traveler is considered to be high (i.e., the risk is increased because of evidence of transmission outside defined settings and/or inadequate containment). Additional preventive measures may be recommended, depending on the circumstances (e.g., travelers may be requested to monitor their health for a certain period after their return; arriving passengers may be screened at ports of entry).
The CDC currently has NO TRAVEL WARNINGS in effect. Travel warnings include recommendations to avoid non-essential travel.
I think the release about Victoria relates to an outbreak of whooping cough (pertussis) NOT flu.

I do NOT think TAR 15 will be impacted at this point by ANY of the worldwide outbreaks.
Like TAR wouldn't go into Iraq, Saudi Arabia, or Iran right now. It would be interesting if they did, but it won't happen.Saudi Arabia pretty much spells: NO F/F teams, no non-family non-married F/M teams and no gay M/M teams
