*Have they actually started racing? I know someone who supposedly was contacted to 'help with the production team', that they will be in Malaysia this weekend. Should I start camping out at the airport?
*I'm still a little iffy about this info though.. Does anyone know when/if the race has actually started? it wouldn't make sense for them to start flying into Malaysia if it's still early in the show, would it?
*More info from my intel.. they will be in Malaysia from the 9th to 12th December . I'm trying to find out where exactly the roadblocks/detours will be so I can have more than one chance of getting their pictures.

* 5 teams passed through Malaysia..... 4 were seen and documented
izad adds:
*Those are the orders that they came in. Charla and Mirna got a huge lead. :) The other three teams came in close within each other.
*There five teams in this leg because I'm a good listener.
*again, since I did not personally see the fifth team, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt..
*from what I 'heard' - an African American couple who got delayed on their flight. with the fifth team, it's not an eye-witness account like the other four, so I can't confirm if what I heard was true.. so y'all can still speculate.

Though Charla/Mirna has a huge 2 hour lead, don't go nuts yet and discount the possibility of them having an equalizer after this route marke **In order of arrival at the route marker:
Charla/Mirna

The Chas
(10 minutes gap)

Well, I guess they arrive in Malaysia and must immediately go to the caves, which is a route marker, and then *Izad THINKS* there is HOH that cause C/M to lose their two hour lead!
I've been looking forward to this episode since December, ever since I saw D/K still in the race...haha, at that time I was devastated that Rob and Amber weren't there!
-
Since we started a thread for this episode I will post my airline spec for C/M flying into KL, that is if they are leaving from Warsaw.
LOT Polish Airlines Flt 223
Warsaw to Vienna 7:40am - 9:05am
Austrian Airlines Flt 1
Vienna to Kuala Lumpur 10:50am - 4:45am
Add in time to de-board the airplane, make their way through the airport and possibly take public transport or drive to the Batu Caves, that puts them at the Batu Caves by roughly 8:00 am when Izad snapped his pictures of C/M and cheered them on......"Hey Charla and Mirna. Good luck guys, you're doing great. I"m your biggest fan!" :lol3: (I'm only guessing he said that)
Also Izad, posted a "random pic" of a nail in a tire over at Sucks. Perhaps it is a clue to more info that he might have on this leg.

same here Michael. I've been looking forward to this episode ever since I heard Izad might see the racers in Malaysia. I can't wait! :jumpy:

:)
I love how they are smiling and appreciating the view!!!
GO BQs! *prays for HOH*
-
Also, should add this that Izad posted after I asked him about their backpacks. In the pic at the clue box, they don't have their backpacks but standing out front in that open area they did so I was curious as to where the backpacks were and what they were doing standing there.
The picture was taken after they got their clue. As for the backpacks.. I honestly can't remember, but I'm pretty sure they carried their backpacks along with them up the stairs. They could've just put their backpacks down momentarily while reading the clue at the cluebox... and in that pic, they were actually waiting for their cameraman/soundman. (Man, those guys can run I tell ya).
-
The Muragan statue is so huge and shinyyy, my preciousss. ;D
Apologies if this has already been pointed out. It looks like the cluebox is not inside the caves, just on the steps. So they didn't climb 'till the top. Too crowded and busy, I guess. :(
Oh, and will the pitstop be in Putrajaya, or they would just do tasks there and have the pitstop somewhere?

COLBY, your analysis makes sense generally. However, if all teams land at 0445, why would there be such a apread in getting to Batu Caves via public transportation? It seems like there must be something in between which spreads out teams a bit.
-
I dont understant how team could be so spread out at Batu Caves if it is at the beginning of the leg.. apparently C/M come in at the back of the pack in Poland.. so how could they get such a lead so quickly.. those girls are amazing :luvya: :hearts: :wohoo:
I really hope there is no HOH.. I just think it takes the excitement out of it.. Ive been looking foreward to this episode ever since i saw Izad's photos of C/M coming in first :yess: :jumpy:

The 4:45 AM flight would the flight that Charla and Mirna are on. According to Izad, Charla and Mirna were at the Batu Caves at 8:00 AM. Also Izad said in his spoiler that he believe the Batu Caves was the first stop for the teams after arriving in Kuala Lumpur. Danny & Oswald, the BQs and Eric and Danielle were not seen by Izad until after 10:00 AM. Therefore it appears the rest of the teams flew in on a later flight. Otherwise, I would expect that izad would have seen the teams arived around the same time.

That has bothered me as well but we have seen Mirna and Charla work their magic at the airport before. We just saw that in the previous leg where they took a risk and got on an earlier flight with a risky connection and pulled it off. Therefore, if Charla and Mirna did come in 3rd or 4th in Poland, the still can manag to pull off finding an eariler flight from Poland to Malaysia just like they did in South Africa. I know they are capable but what makes me scratch my head ??? is if the BQ's and Danny and Oswald and Eric and Danielle are first at the airport why did they let Charla and Mirna pull this off again!! Were they too scared to take a risk? Were Charla and Mirna just smarter and found something that nobody else did?
I just hope they can maintain their lead. All it would take is for them to choose a wrong Detour or get lost and the other teams could catch up.

I think Izad implied that C/M get hit with Hours of Operation after this

I was looking at Futon Critic but it's going terribly slow!

....Or maybe the FIRST FLIGHT (with D/K, Cha & E/D) was delayed at some point en route. :plane:
-
....Or maybe the FIRST FLIGHT (with D/K, Cha & E/D) was delayed at some point en route.
True! It's been awhile since I did the research on the flights. I actually did the research back in December when Izad first came out with his spoilers but waited to post it. If I recall and my memory isn't good right now, the flights I came up with were the earliest flights I could find into KL and that fit with C/M arrving in time to fit Izad's timeline. Then again, I tried to look up flights that fit the others arriving 2 hours late but was unable to find anything that fit. there is a flight from Singapore to KL that fit but I couldn't find a Warsaw to Signapore flight that fit. But I agree, your scenario is possible.
-
Also, I was working under the assumption that Izad knew the night before what time the first racer(s) would be reaching the Batu Caves and that is why he was able to be set up at the Caves to catch them when they arrived. Maybe he can clarify?
-
Well the flight issue, could be due to several different factors.
A full flight, that has a standby list and they get chosen (Season 5 they were 3rd on a waiting list of teams and got chosen, due to needing a "doctoro".
The might have stopped at a travel agency and been given different info then what is given at the airport (we have seen them do this as well this season the episode Rob & Amber got toasted).
Tehy could be at an airport where teams have all been given different info and they get helped by someone who gives more accurate flight info.
Early teams could be told the plane is full and get the other flight, a later team comes in and room as cleared up (this has happened as well on the show, though so far not this season).
The first fight could be a layover flight that is delayed due to weather, the other could be a direct flight.
Take last season Two flight left at roughlyt eh same time and were supposed to arrrive at the same time, but one flight ended up being nearly an hour and a half late.
There are a host of possabilities that have nothing to do with ability.
For example, according to interviews with Teri & Ian, everyone tried for the early flight to Jburg. But the only team they managed to get on was Charla & Mirna. Allt he talk about risk and gamble were probably to either reassure the teams that something could happen to them and kil their lead, or discussion before they chose to try for it.
After all, they all tried to get to JBurg without reservations to get them to Dar Es Salaam.
-
I breifly remember reading a post by someone.. im pretty sure it was izad.. ages ago when he first told us all about malaysia.. he, or someone els, said something about spotting them at another location.. i think in malaysia.. and they had to go somewhere and c/m were in first again.. i think it had something to do with tarmac :umn: ??? ok that doesnt really make sens.. but i rermember reading something like that :groan:

I think you are thinking of Guam, if that is the case then apparently at the Road block in Guam they have a lead again!

CBS should call this Title : Dedicated to Izad or Thanks A LOT for spoiling our show Izad (:;)
thanks for the pictures izad....

CBS should call this Title : Dedicated to Izad or Thanks A LOT for spoiling our show Izad
:lol3:
Maybe we should just come up with our own title......
1. "Are we being followed?"
2. "Who keeps taking our picture?"
3. "Malaysia has such helpful people."
-
Damn you episode title, COME OUT!
:lol3: I keep checking for it too.
Did anyone watch TAR:Asia? They started in Malaysia. I wonder if they might use some of the same tasks? Off the top of my head, they repelled down the middle of a high-rise shopping mall and there was a detour where one of the tasks was painting these patterns on a cloth...bahtik I think it was called. I don't recall what the other detour task was though. I'll have to relook at episode 1 again.
-
Regarding the repelling, part of me always wonders if this season is so unphysical because they now that Charla would not be able to participate in a lot of the challenges. Can little people repel, I'm not even sure, so my thoughts might be based on something completely retarded.
-
I'm sure she would be able to repel. I don't see why not.
I just looked at episode 1 of TAR:Asia and the detour was "Paint or Pot".
Paint.....trace, wax and paint a patter on silk...known as bahtik. They had to use the same colors as the example they were given. (in the Asian version, a couple of teams used the wrong colors and they had to redo theirs)
Pot.....using a pottery wheel one member had to mold the clay into a pot while the other person controled the wheel speed.
The other task on the episode was driving go-carts before heading to the pit stop.
-
Izad has something new posted at sucks......it's a picture of a recycling symbol.
now we have a flat tire and a recycling symbol....hmmmmmm.
-
something is telling me that these pictures aren't so....random. But I usually look to much into things, so whatever.
-
I don't think they are random either Michael. There is something to them, I'm sure.
-
Just throwing this random shot of Erics shirt out there:
LOL, I think we're just looking to much into this!
-
:lol3: I forgot Eric had that shirt.
Well I will say this if I had the chance to see racers reach a cluebox, I'd be hard pressed to follow them so I could see what they are up to.
-
haha, maybe he's posting clues to the order the teams check in at the pitstop...
WHO EVER GETS A FLAT TIRE COMES FIRST! CALL IT FROM NOW! ...or maybe not :meow:
-
NEXT TIME ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:
Phil: Charla/Mirna infuriate Eric/Danielle.
Internet cafe, Charla: We just got on.
Eric, later, mocks Charla's voice in a cab.
Phil: Oswald/Danny hit their boiling point.
Danny: I listen to you every single time.
Oswald: You're being stubborn!

Ok so i know we originally thought that U/J go out this leg and that they were so far behind from a previous leg. It is clear from tonights episode we can scrap that. What are the chances/probability that maybe they are in fact the team that is so far ahead?
-
They could always take a risky flight and fall behind!
-
yah but that is really unlike them
-
First clue from the screen caps--
Like that is going to help! :lol3:

Based on the vidcaps, I can safely 100% confirm that those shots of Danny and Oswald are in Kuala Lumpur. ;D

haha, you think Izad :rotf:

Thank you so much! Where and Why, now--please??

If Ucheena & Joyce don't go out then how do you explain their flight with the Cha's & Guidos on the 15th of December 2 days before the finale on the 17th as well as the fact that the Chas, Eric/Dee, Charla/Mirna & The Barbies were witnessed in Guam performing tasks ?
:bar:

Yes, Danny and Oswald are on the street and in the background is the sign TANPA FAEDAH. Translation means "Interest Free Banking" which is a new banking scheme of the BNM Islammic Bank of Malaysia.
-
Whatever time it is in this photo, D/O are doing the detour, so based on their time at the caves, maybe we can tell if the detour came right after the caves!

Maybe its a recycled challenge?
TAR Asia
The Detour for this leg was Paint or Pot, which describes two craft techniques. In Paint, members of each team would work together to make a batik painting based on the design shown to them. In Pot, one team member would make a pot from clay using a pottery wheel while the other member controlled the wheel's spin. In both cases, teams would receive the next clue if the person in charge of the Detour option selected was satisfied with the result.
@ At Berjaya Times Square, teams had to rappel down from the 8-story level of the shopping mall. It was mentioned that it was optional but teams would face a time penalty.
@ Team members must each complete four consecutive laps around the circuit in go-karts before receiving their next clue
-
That sounds good to me puddin, now we just need to figure out what the tire thing is, i guess a team gets a flat tire!

You don't think CBS actually works on the weekends do you?
-
Probably not LOL
God, tomorrow in school I'm going to be looking forward to coming home and seeing the web promo, and then afterwards watching Finish Line!!
I'll sneak online during business class like I always do of course ;) I'm addicted to RFF!
-
Maybe you can do something TAR related for business class? like how they could have marketed All Stars better?
We want you to get all A's!
-
* A pair of teammates with a close bond suddenly finds themselves at odds with each other. Will this be the beginning of the end of their relationship?
* One team is surprised and confused to discover thenselves target of another team.
* Some locals in Malaysia can't help but encourage certain racers in surprising ways, one racer offers undoubtedly appreciated advice for the Malaysian youth.

Hey! I already suggested that yesterday! steeling my idea huh? :lol3:

Danny and Oswald as was shown in the preview.
One team is surpised and confused to discover themselves the targe of another team.
Hmmmmmm....U/J??? Maybe that is why they end up behind?
Some locals in Malaysia can't help but encourage certain racers in surprising ways, and one racer offers undoubtedly appreciated words of advice for the Malaysian youth.
This is sounds like something Mirna would say/do. Perhaps they get help from the locals. :wohoo:

Could there be a yield on this leg? That would explain the middle clue.

Thats an idea! or its Charla /Mirna not letting EDEE use the internet?
-
Could there be a yield on this leg? That would explain the middle clue.
hmmmm....could be. I completely forgot about the Yield.
going back to that recycle symbol Izad posted.....maybe there is a task to separate recycables? deliver recycables?
-

Are you stealing Michaels idea  ? ( just joking :kuss: )
-
:rotf:
I hit the post button to quickly and had to go back and modify. I've fixed it now.
-
Yield! It is time for the yield! Maybe that's what happens to U/J? They should have a nice start for the next leg if the bunching isn't too bad again.

400 pics so far and no match for the mosque...I'll try again tomorrow.

Yay Malaysia! :bunny
When I saw the recycled picture, I was thinking Petronas towers. Didn't TAR 3 visit this place? And it was in the Intro video, so...
I hope this leg is a TBC.

400 pics so far and no match for the mosque...I'll try again tomorrow.
Was just wondering where you were!
But wait--do you mean this mosque?
Because i thought we knew this:
Boingo and Neobie: Putrajaya Mosque, just outside of Kuala Lumpur. I have no idea what they could do in Putrajaya though (it's an artificial capital city). The main mosque at the heart of the Malaysian capital of Putrajaya

-
Nice catch, guys.. ;) but the mosque in the preview screenshot (with Danny & Oswald) is not the same as the one in Putrajaya (which is the one in the opening credits). I honestly don't know if they're actually going to the Putrajaya mosque, or just passing thru, or just the editors trying to mess with us and it has absolutely nothing to do with the leg. Has that ever happened before - the editors putting in 'fake' shots in the opening credits?
-
It's a different mosque, peach. Slowhatch is referring to the mosque that's within KL. Finding that mosque could help us better understand why Danny/Oswald where shot strolling close to it.
There's a lovely pic of the Putrajaya mosque here (http://travel.u.nu/pic/my/5346.jpg).
Has that ever happened before - the editors putting in 'fake' shots in the opening credits?
I dunno. But some intro pics from this season weren't shown in any of the episodes. There's those children shots, and the fish in the market shot (but it could still come up later).
-
Crazy idea why Oswald/Danny are in front of this building with the number 88. The Petronas towers has 88 floors. :lol3:
If this was a detour task, then it could be answering riddles by going to various places in the city that would provide them answers (reminiscent of the TAR 3 Swiss bank task) that describe their next destination, the Petronas towers. Then once there, a Roadblock would have someone rapelling down one of the towers. Hehe, wishful thinking. B:)
But what is that building with the number 88? A mini hotel? Apartment? Condominium? Mini mall? Parking lot? Restaurant? The possibilities are endless in bustling KL.

Sicne this thread is where the action is, I want to get maximum audience for the following:
HAPPY 1000th POST, PEACH!
While we were all busy with predicting episodes 7/8, sometime on Friday or Saturday (judging by her current count of 1057) Peach reached the magnificent milestone of 1000. We should all congratulate her on this achievement. I hope that I am the first.

First clue from the screen caps--
Like that is going to help! :lol3:
Not much of a clue; ;the sign over the store window says "CORNINGWARE" which is made in upstate New York and sold worldwide.

Ha, looks like someone caught the unseen cameraman and soundman :yess:

hehe, and look at the time, that is just after they were at the Batu caves, and Mirna is still holding the Route Marker, so I assume this is still the beginning of the leg!

Too fuzzy for me; can't read the street signs or the English at the bottom of the mosque plaque. :reading:

NICE! Thanks Michael!
I'm sure Chateau can tell us the time! :lol3:

Good job Romeo!
I just checked out the new preview. It looks like whatever the bike task is, they are carrying something. recycables maybe? fits with Izad's pic of the recycle symbol. It looked like something was falling out of the back of the bike which had a huge basket. Also, the bike tires look similiar to the picture that Izad posted. Maybe there is a connection there.
Also in that preview, Dani isn't having very easy time with that bike.
It also looks like U/J decide on a risky flight.
Could the area where Danny and Oswald be, a car park? It seems like they are arguing about going back for something. One of them left something behind perhaps.

Is this bike task a Roadblock? Only one of the BQ's is shown performing i and It looks like only Dani is participating though it does look like someone is pushing from behind. There is a white sleeve in the above pic but it doesn't match with the blue t-shirt that Eric is wearing. a local perhaps?
Also, in this pic of C/M, could this be the same area as the bike task? the concrete fence in the back looks similar to the one in the BQ's picture.

Also, I just noticed.....in the picture above where Dani hits the curb on her bike, there is no red basket like what is shown in the later shot. Perhaps they have to bike somewhere and pick that basket up and tansport it somewhere.

In the pic of U/J at a ticket counter, it appears they are at the Lufthansa ticket counter. On the departure schedule, thiers is a 0700 AM flight on LH 3337 to MUC, which I think is Munich?
Also, the pic of the BQ's and Danny and Oswald at the airport appears to be in the LOT Polish Airlines office.
It also looks like there is a 0600 AM flight to Warsaw. I don't know how big the Krakow airport is, but maybe Warsaw has more flights out and some teams fly that way instead of directly out of Krakow.

Hey guys. I've been lurking on this site for quite some time and decided to start posting. I must say that I'm really impressed at what you guys came up with. Anyways, the sign board pointing right should say 'Kg Baru' which is short for Kampung Baru. Can't make out the left one though. And the words underneath Arabic writings looks like 'Masjid Jamek Kg Baru Kuala Lumpur'. Hope this helps

Why does the sky look darker when C/M are running after that bus?
-
I found there is a flight from Krakow to Vienna leaving at 0600 AM and arriving at 0915 AM which still fits in my previously posted intinerary with the Austiran Airlines Flt 1 from Vienna to Kuala Lumpur 1050am - 0445am.
However I don't see that Krakow to Vienna flight listed on the Departure Schedule.
Also, I just noticed the clock on the Departure Schedules says 3:20. PM perhaps since the teams arrived late at night at the pit stop?
-
Also, I just noticed the clock on the Departure Schedules says 3:20. PM perhaps since the teams arrived late at night at the pit stop?
I just thought of something. If it was 3:20 PM in the afternoon, then flight times would not say 0600 but would say 1800. but it does appear to say 6:00 and not 0600 so maybe they do list the times as 6:00. so the times shown in that picture would be departures in the evening.
sorry for the rambling.....thinking outloud. lol

I think the bike thing would be the roadblock, since we only see Kandice doing it from the BQs, and Danielle doing it from E/D.
I knew U/J got screwed by a flight delay! Sucks for them, haha. I think C/M lose their lead.
Izad, based on the fact that your random images aren't so random, I'm impressed with the fact that you were able to sit on all of this information for almost four months! Good Job! *ends suck up in hopes of new information* .... HAHA, just kidding...or am I? :lol3:

I found a map where I think Charla & Mirna are standing on the street corner. Thanks to dtyz87 keen eyes. ;D They appear to be standing near the building (green square on map) with similar writing as to what dtyz87 said ('Masjid Jamek Kg Baru ).

I have been doing my usual with the airline flights. I start with my assumptions about the earliest teams can reach Krakow airport. They are:
Uchenna/Joyce and Oswald/Danny - around 7am
Dustin/Kandice, Charla/Mirna and Eric/Danielle - after 1pm
So, that means that the obvious 6am flight to Vienna with the wonderful connection to Kuala Lumpur is out(and no doubt Amazing Race producers knew that when they scheduled the activites after Auschwitz/Birkenau to assure that the pitstop time plus 12 hours would be later than 5am).
The best flight if they hustle and can figure out the routing immediately on reaching the airport is:
OS8508 departing KRK 0735 arriving VIE 0845
OS8803 departing VIE 1000 arriving ZRH 1125, with a very close connection on
MH(Malaysian) 009 departing ZRH 1210 arriving KUL 0605 Dec. 9
The next best is:
LO343 departing KRK arriving CDG 1010
MH002 departing CDG arriving KUL 0635 Dec. 9
My guess is that Oswald/Danny and Uchenna/Joyce each make a different choice. I bet O/D go through CDG with better luck than U/J.
The other 3 teams' best option appears to be:
OK(CSA) 773 departing KRK 1440 arriving PRG 1555
OK618 departing PRG 1705 arriving AMS 1840
KL809 departing AMS 2100 arriving KUL 1440 Dec. 9
This puts all these teams at least 8 hours behind the 2 teams if they arrived on schedule between 0605 and 0635. It makes it difficult to explain how Charla/Mirna all of a sudden become the leaders at Batu Caves. If someone can figure that out, please let me know. The only way I can explain it is that weather trouble or delays in Zurich and Paris do not affect Amsterdam and allow the 3 trailing teams to get back into the lead.
-
Perhaps another equalizer?
-
apskip--would one more day make a difference in the flights?
I ask because on the Pitstop Cam they show our Final Five having a lovely lunch together down in the salt mine near Krakow
But I can't figure out how they do that without a longer than usual Pitstop--maybe 24 hours? It just seems like the teams are too spread out for everybody to have a leisurely lunch together inside of 12 hours...what do you think?
-
NICE job Boingo and dtyz87! :bunny

Ok so i know we originally thought that U/J go out this leg and that they were so far behind from a previous leg. It is clear from tonights episode we can scrap that. What are the chances/probability that maybe they are in fact the team that is so far ahead?
i'd like to see some pictures

PEACH, I haven't seen the Pitstop Cam yet. For the 3 bottom teams who would not be released until about 1pm there would be no problem with an early leisurely lunch. However, if Uchenna/Joyce or Oswald/Danny are shown then it has to be another extended pitstop. Those teams should be on their way by 7am. And yes, the day of the week can matter on flights. At least one of the flights listed above is a Friday or Friday/Wednesday or some other odd combination that would not apply if it were Saturday.

Maybe Cha's && U/J got onto a flight w/ a connection, && U/J miss the connection. I'm guessing TBC.
-
I don't think it can be a TBC leg because that wouldn't fit with the 1 hour finale that CBS said is going to air on May 6th, so my guess is there is no TBC this season?
-
lol idk its possible.

Uh-oh.
They are all five there.
-
Not that I know one way or another but just curious why some of you think TBC? Why should U/J be saved just because their flight is delayed or whatever? Same could have been said for Teri/Ian & the Guidos.
-
The only leg that i think a TBC can possibly fit now is leg 10, and unless CBS messed up in their press release (which I doubt) then there wouldn't be enough weeks to air all episodes.
-
PEACH:
The answer to your earlier question, now that I have had time to research it, is that the Zurich-based connection is destroyed. Also, the Amsterdam connection is totally changed to other flights that arrive 2 3/4 hours later at 1725(instead of 1440. They are LO3312 to WAW, LO267 to AMS, BD112 to LHR and MH001 to KUL. The only connection that stays OK is the one through CDG. All of this assumes Saturday Dec. 10 and a 36 hour extended pitstop in Krakow. If the extended pitstop is only 24 hours, the n all bets are off and the analysis has to be totally redone.

The answer to your earlier question, now that I have had time to research it, is that the Zurich-based connection is destroyed. Also, the Amsterdam connection is totally changed to other flights that arriv 3 1/4 hours later. they are LO3312 to WAW. LO267 to AMS, BD112 to LHR and MH001 to LHR. The only connection that stays OK is the one through CDG.

Did you see this? I think it is in Krakow (??) and Dustin/Kandice say "I think they are not going to be able to make their flight" about U/J and then the editors flash to this--does it mean anything to you??

I was so sure that this thread would be rapidly increasing today, especially since we've known about this episode since November!

Not much more to know? We know where they go and who's ahead and the Roadblock looks lamo and we're all 99.9% sure that its either a NEL or TBC and Ucheena & Joyce arrive last or theres still that slight chance that U/J are eliminated. I guess all thats left is what the Detours are and where the pitstop is but have a feeling izad will fill in those blanks.
roughly..and these dates are solid
EP9 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ( 12/10 ) izad has reason to believe theres one leg in Malaysia [ 5 teams left, U/J eliminated or TBC or NEL U/J marked w/30 minute penalty]
EP10 Siu Sai Wa, Hong Kong (12/12) [4 teams or 5 teams left, U/J eliminated ]
EP11 Macau (12/14) [ 4 teams left, TBC or NEL Cha's marked w/ 30 minute penalty ]
EP12 Yigo, Guam/Honolulu, HI (12/16) [final 4 Chas eliminated in Guam ]
EP13 Honolulu, HI to San Francisco, CA (12/16to 12/17) [ final 3 race to the finish ]
eta: as of 7:45 ET CBS has yet to release a title for this leg
-
Do we know if C/M keep their lead?
-
Do we know if C/M keep their lead?
I can't tell by the limited vidcaps? We don't even have a darn press release yet! But I bet our friend knows the answers, lol :snicker: ?
-
Dates make sense to me!
I think that the Episode 7 part 2 title should have been--"Ladies and Gentlemen! Miss California!" as poor Dustin barfed. As an almost but not quite vegetarian--I could definitely empathize with her there! But Eric was funny!
Michael, if you were old enough, I'd take you to TARcon as my guest to meet those girls! They are lucky to have such a devoted fan!

Maybe this helps to set the time that is shown on the Krakow fight board. It shows that the Krakow to London flight is in the AM.

And this one to Barcelona sets the day of week as Tuesday or Friday. Since December 8th is a Friday, I think we are on regular 12 pit stop schedule here.

Actually this one is a little better since it matches the flight number. BGY is Milan.
It says that the day is not a Tues, Thurs, or Sun

Aw Peach, I wish I could meet them!
You have to like...get their autograph for me and send it to me!!!

;) finally!!
04/08 Amazing Race 11, The - "The Way You Look, Yeah."
-
hahaha! finally!
hmm...it doesn't give to much away, I wonder who says it!
-
Chateau--are you talking a 12 HOUR pitstop? Because I just don't see how they can all get from the castle to the mines for a LUNCH within the 12 hour time constraint when the teams start out so separated (I think)? But that airport board is confusing me!
When (what day?) do we all think they were in Poland for the last elim?
And puddins dates seem to have us in KL on the 10th...
I think they were there at the Pitstop for more than 12 hours....
-
Probably Charla & Mirna asking Izad for help and Izad says "The Way You Look? Yeah!!" :D
-
hahaha, maybe :lol3:
I'm so jealous of him! He actually got to see the racers!
-
Probably Charla & Mirna asking Izad for help and Izad says "The Way You Look? Yeah!!" :D
:rotf: I wish. Only thing I said to them at Batu Caves was "I'm a fan!!!!!" *glee* but that was definitely off camera. No idea where that quote could've come from though
-
haha!
Did they see you? I wonder if they'd be allowed to talk to you if they did.

The Way You Look Tonight is an old Frank Sinatra song:
Artist: Frank Sinatra
Album: Academy Award Winners
Title: Way You Look Tonight, The
Some day, when i'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.
Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.
With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.
Lovely ... never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'cause i love you ... just the way you look tonight.
Mm, mm, mm, mm,
Just the way you look to-night.
Might have NOTHING to do with this of course--but it could?

Hi mswood! :waves:
I'm not Chateau but that looks like Airwise (http://travel.airwise.com/schedules/index.html) to me...
That site is neat cause you can do already passed dates...
-
posted this at sucks too :
Okay.. this post might upset some people and will most definitely suck the fun out of speculation, so if you don't want to be (possibly) totally spoiled, don't read this post.
disclaimer : this play by play for the Malaysian leg is drafted based on my fellows scouts and my personal xperience/knowledge (none of us work for, or personally know any of the production crew members). This is not 100% confirmed as we don't know what the final edit of the episode is going to be but we suspect a good deal of the episode will be focusing quite a bit on the teams getting out of Poland.
ARRIVAL
- Teams fly in from Poland
- Charla and Mirna were the first to arrive at KL International Airport around 4:30 am
- Chas/Beauty Queens/EricDanielle arrived at the KL International Airport around 7 am
FIRST CLUEBOX - Batu Caves
- Teams had to travel using public transport (ie. train, bus) to Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur
- Charla/Mirna was the first team to arrive at Batu Caves around 8 am to retrieve their first clue
SECOND CLUEBOX - Kg Baru mosque
- Their next clue is situated on a pedestrian bridge near the Kg Baru mosque
DETOUR
- The clue is a detour between eating festive cookies and drawing a batik cloth
- Charla/Mirna chose the cookies challenge
- Chas/BeautyQueens arrive at Batu Caves around 10am within minutes of each other.
- Eric & Danielle came around 10 minutes late (they might've taken the wrong bus)
- Chas possibly opted for the cookies challenge but couldn't find the location, so they chose batik.
- Beauty Queens and Eric & Danielle also chose the batik challenge
- Charla/Mirna didn't complete the cookies challenge despite locals cheering them on :(
- Charla/Mirna changed the detour and headed for the batik challenge where to their surprise the other teams had already reached this task. :( :( :(
- Beauty Queens were the first to finish the batik detour
- Charla/Mirna finished the batik detour next
THIRD CLUE - ROADBLOCK
- Next clue was to head towards a housing area in Hartamas for a roadblock
- The roadblock was to get old newspapers from houses for recycling. And they had to collect the newspaper using rickety trishaws.
- Some crew member possibly got hurt at the roadblock. (saw an ambulance in the area)
- Beauty Queens finished the newspaper roadblock. Their next clue was to head to the pitstop
- Charla/Mirna arrived and started on the newspaper roadblock
- Eric&Danielle and the Chas finished their batik detour and arrived at the newspaper roadblock within a minute of each other.
- Mirna/Danielle/Danny performed the roadblock.
- Danielle's trishaw had a flat tyre and had to be replaced
- Mirna was helped by a small boy, his sister, a lady wearing a red top and a guy with shades
- Danielle was helped by another small kid
- Mirna & Charla finished the roadblock but have problems getting a taxi, but the locals helped them.
- the Chas might've finished next, followed by Eric & Danielle
PITSTOP (possibly Carcosa Sri Negara in Kuala Lumpur)
- possible order of arrival at the pitstop :
(1) Beauty Queens,
(2) Charla & Mirna,
(3) Chas,
(4) Eric & Danielle
- Ucheynna & Joyce arrive at KL International Airport a few hours after the above teams checked into the pitstop.
- This may or may not be a non-elimination leg. We cannot confirm this, although I'm sure we're all gonna think.. what's the point of having a NEL anyway, right?"
(major credit also goes to Romeo and my other spoiler team members <3 <3 <3 )
ps. I MISS MIRNA and CHARLA *CRIES*
-
OMFG YES!
Izad, you've made my night :bunny at least now I can be happy that the BQs kick ass.
-
:wohoo: Izad! You and your friends ROCK! :yourock:
( now I'm off to hold Michael down :D )
-
And to think, way back in December when I read this I was all sad that the BQs were in third in this leg. Hahahahahaha! No need to hold me down puddin - as long as I know they are in first I wont go all crazy!
-
( now I'm off to hold Michael down :D )
You and I BOTH! :rotf: but I think that's 99.99% correct... unless they had some misfortune on the way to the pitstop from the roadblock.. which is pretty unlikely.
-
hehehe...god, do I know how to pick awesome teams or what?
No no no, I'm joking, based on the description it's basically C/M detour selection that screwed them up, otherwise they would have had come in first! At least this week we can have a break from the frantic crazy posting...
That makes
Leg 7 - 1st
Leg 8 - 3rd (but first among teams who do all tasks)
Leg 9 - 1st :)
...
Leg 13 - 1st .. yeah right :'(
-
:wohoo: :wohoo: Izad! great spoiling!! The best so far!
so michael......there still is that slim chance that the BQ's got lost on the way to the pit stop. ;)

Whats so bad about eating the cookies Izad? Do they taste bad? ( Yay more hurling!)

Yeah, I was wondering that too Puddin. Maybe it's just a lot of cookies?

Not exactly sure why they gave up on the cookies cause I wasn't 'statitoned' there. ;) I personally don't like those cookies cause they make your mouth go dry pretty quickly.. but I'm guessing there's just to many cookies for them to eat? I don't know. but it would be kinda awesome to see more hurling

Thank you Izad! :wohoo:
Carcosa Boutique Hotel (http://www.journeymalaysia.com/cityklcarcosa.htm)
Home page (http://www.carcosa.com.my/location/map.htm)
• Carcosa Sri Negara, Malaysia. Hidden away in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, this hotel is one of Asia's best kept secrets. Set amid a 16-hectare forest, the 13-suite boutique hotel has played host to Queen Elizabeth as well as a long list of ambassadors, lesser royalty and celebrities. Divided between two colonial mansions—the Carcosa and the Negara—the place sports an air of genuine gentility, especially since each suite comes with a butler. The hotel exudes British country charm, right down to the floral prints and slightly shabby furnishings. The only real weakness is the kitchen, which has yet to meet modern British culinary standards. At $298 a night, you might just choose to visit for high tea on the veranda, which is a reasonable $12. Thanks mswood.
Being huge TAR fans, it totally killed us not to share these with other fans. The only reason why I didn't want to post this much much earlier was that I would love to give some room and not totally suck all the fun out of speculating.. cause I think half the fun of spoiling is the speculation itself. But you guys can still continue to speculate their remaining leg in Poland though.. and if what I posted will be what we'll see on Sunday. ;D

NOt to worry I can certainly understand how too much might bother some people. But here. If we ahd posted a 24 account of everything that went on, we probably would still want more.

I still can't figure out what went on flight wise that put Ch/Mirna in first and U/J SO far behind! First to last in one shot....
Maybe with this new info our flight team can recheck for us??
And I want a cookie...
-
mmm...cookie....i have chocolate chips downstairs.
-
I posted this info this morning.
I found there is a flight from Krakow to Vienna leaving at 0600 AM and arriving at 0915 AM which still fits in my previously posted intinerary with the Austrian Airlines Flt 1 from Vienna to Kuala Lumpur 1050am - 0445am. That still fits in with Izad's spoiler info.
I didn't take down the flight info....It's on LOT airlines. I'll look it up again in a few minutes.

Sure, after careful study it does. There are two destinations that have possibilities for connections that make sense for getting to KUL. One is through Prague. Flight OK771 is shown on that board for 0650 departure. However, my information shows that the schedule is for it to depart KRK at 0530 except on Sundays and arrive PRG 0640. That is just in time to connect with OK758 departing PRG 0715 arriving CDG 0905. Out of CDG MH21 departs 1200 arriving KUL 0635. The late departure of OK771 would mess that all up. However, I am having a hard time understanding how either O/D or U/J could have made it onto a 0530 scheduled flight unless their bus trip to Auschwitz/Birkenau was much shorter than 4 hours (which is certainly could have been based on the real distance).
Now, the other scenario is through Warsaw with LO3910 departing KRK at 0600 arriving WAW 0640. The coonnection is on LO265 departing WAW 0740 arriving AMS 0945. Then, MH17 departing AMS 1200 arriving KUL 0605.
In both cases, any delays of the first flights would screw up the tight first connections. There is ample time in either CDG or AMS for the second connection onto thte long-haul Malaysian Airlines flights nonstop to Kuala Lumpur.

Izad told us this
ARRIVAL
- Teams fly in from Poland
- Charla and Mirna were the first to arrive at KL International Airport around 4:30 am
- Chas/Beauty Queens/EricDanielle arrived at the KL International Airport around 7 am
and that U/J don't even arrive till the teams are on the way to the Pitstop.
I think based on that Mine lunch that the teams were already just 9 miles or so from Krakow if they stayed somewhere nearby there--it would really be backtracking for them to go back to the castle but possible--it looks a long way on the map but in is really under 20 miles all together. And the castle is on the airport side of town...
1) salt mines
2) Birkenau
3) Pieskowa
Airport on the NW side of Krakow

There is a major problem with the hypothesis from Colby that says that teams could take OS8508(or its LOT code-share) at 0735 from KRK to VIE to connect with OS1 the nonstop arriving KUL 0445 Dec. 10. OS8508 does not operate on Saturdays and neither does OS1, including specifically Dec. 9.
The question of "How do Charla/Mirna get to KUL first?" is extremely perplexing since they should be at least 5 hours behind Oswald/Danny and Uchenna/Joyce at the start. The only way I can think is if it is a 24 hour extended pitstop (not the typical 36 hours) and that turns all the flight schedules into a shambles. I am going to look into this in the morning.

Thanks!

Thanks for your team's proposed timeline of events, Izad. And good job to you guys!
Just wondering on those cookies. What's it called? The local name's okay.
-
I'm still waiting for a D/K and E/D feud to come up, because I remember way back on episode two Eric had his myspace name set to "I hope Charla bites those bitches knees" or something like that, but we've yet to see any indication of these two teams not liking each other.

I know! Wouldn't THAT have been an awesome rappel!
Izad--if there was a Yield--do you think you and your guys would have been able to see it?
That CBS clue "One team is surprised and confused to discover themselves the target of another team" is screaming Yield to me...

Oh God, mylastduchess, NOTHING would make me more happy then to see the BQs win, but I don't think it's going to happen..If, by some miraculous twist of faith from god it does, I will be jumping up and down with joy for weeks! :bunny

Flo & Zach only won one leg but that was with the help of the fast forward and then went on to win the $$$$$$$$$
^^ same goes for Reichen & Chip.

Izad - how far ahead was the BQ, when C/M finished the task, and how did C/M finish ahead of the rest of the teams when they switched tasks?

Malaysia festive cookies? (http://202.186.86.35/kuali/recipes/cookies.html)
the making batik one looks pretty hard.
You can see Danielle running up the stairs to the bridge Izad was referring to!
-
So they did steal the batik thing from TARAsia?
-
Thanks, those maps are better than the Asiamaya maps I was using . I've attached pushpins for the mosque, the Hartamas district and Negara (Batu caves is still under cloud cover); most of the tasks are close to each other.

I'm pretty shattered that C/M lost their lead.. i was r eally really REALLY hoping for another C/M win this week.. :groan:
Oh well, as long as they win another leg before (or in cluding? :bunny) the finale, i will be happy.. how many more legs before the finale, not including next episode? Michael, your BQ's may win this time.. but C/M will be back! :meow:
They are TOO HOT TO HANDLE :luvya: (BQ's must be wearing gloves? :umn:)
-
Newspaper collection? This? (http://infopedia.nlb.gov.sg/articles/SIP_486_2005-01-03.html)
Sometimes they had a horn with them which they honked from time to time to announce their presence.
Oh, and public transport from KLIA to the city is tough enough (if you want to save money and skip the express rail service). From the city to Batu Caves using public transport? Close to impossible..! (Being the cheapskate backpacker I was, I tried searching and failed miserably...)
-
So they did steal the batik thing from TARAsia?
yes it appears the batik task is the same from TARAsia.
the making batik one looks pretty hard.
It wasn't all that hard really from what I recall. Each racer was given a pattern of flowers that they had to trace out on a piece of cloth (silk I believe). Once the pattern was traced they had to use paints to color in the pattern. The colors had to match the example perfectly before they were given a clue. It took time and patience but it didn't appear that difficult. There were a couple of teams who didn't follow directions and did random colors and they had to redo their the task.
I tried finding the clip on youtube but I couldn't find it. I have the episode here on dvd.
-
festive cookies... could be for a malay, chinese or indian festival. generally these cookies are not that exotic where teams would not be able to indulge in it. my best guess would be Durian flavoured dodol. Not exactly a festive cookie but it is a local delicacy. I brought this to some international conference and most of the delegates there could not take this.. haha just my guess anyways
-
haha, again, THANKS ROMEO:
OK, so maybe it's not EATING the cookies, they just have to search through a lot of them!
-
OK, my supplementary flight analyses are complete. First comes the background. The Salt Mine Lunch can only be explained by an Extended Pitstop in the Krakow area. The question is for how long? My answer to that question is that it must be only a 24 hour extended pitstop, not the 36 hour variety and I offer as a rationale the need for Phil and the crew to get some rest after the breakneck speed and extended hours of episodes 7 and 8. Phil, the crew for the Guidos and the crew for Eric/Danielle had just over 1 hour between the pitstop ending 7 and the beginning of 8. They needed more than the usual 12 hours.
I have examined all routes from Krakow to all cities having long-haul nonstop flights to Kuala Lumpur. This includes Vienna (OS1), Zurich (MH9), London (MH3), Paris CDG (MH21), Amsterdam (MH17), and Frankfurt (MH 5). On Saturdays, Vienna and Zurich don't have those flights and they can only redirect traffic to the other gateways so they are out. The action starts around 7pm Saturday night which is the earliest that Uchenna/Joyce or Oswald/Danny could be on a flight. If they can get it, this is a fabulous combination:
OK537/OK770 departing KRK 1905 through PRG arriving FRA 2255
QF6 departing FRA 2355 to Singapore arriving Dec. 9 1800
SQ616 departing SIN 1915 arriving KUL 2015
Either something must happen en route or no team is able to make these flights, as a team that did would invalidate Izad's observations.
The morning of Dec. 9 all teams that haven't left will be at KRK airport ready to get on the earliest flights. Their choices revolve around OK771 deaprting at 0530 from KRK arriving Prague 0640, which connects with these flights:
BA853 arriving LHR 0910 connecting MH3 departing 1200 arriving KUL 0725
OK758 arriving CDG 0905 connecting MH21 departing 1200 arriving KUL 0635
OK534 arriving FRA 0835 connecting MH5 departing 1230 arriving KUL 0625
For AMS, LO3910 departed KRK 0600 through WAW connecting with SP2365 (code-share with LOT) arriving AMS 0945.
MH17 then departs AMS 1200 arriving KUL 0605. This is the earliest possible arrival on Dec. 10 from Europe. Unless the teams were released prior to 1230am from the Castle pitstop, there is no way I can see for the 3 trailing teams to get to KUL any earlier. If it were a Friday, it would be different.

MORE FLIGHT INFO
In order to assure that the info in my aboev post is correct, I decided to run through all the major connecting points in ASIA to make sure none could land a flight into KUL earlier than 0605 on Sunday Dec. 10. Here is what I found out:
Singapore - much later
Bangkok - much later
Istanbul - much later
Bangalore - no flight arriving early on Sunday
Delhi - MH191 departing 2300 lands KUL 0655, but can't connect from KRK in time due to multiple connections needed
Mumbai - MH195 departing 2215 lands KUL 0545, but can't connect from KRK due to multiple connections needed
Chennai - MH 181 departing 2215 lands KUL 0440, but can't connect from KRK due to multiple connections needed; misses via Frankfurt by less than 1 hour

hakushu - Just wondering on those cookies. What's it called? The local name's okay.
From Romeo's picture, it seems like they're similar to the ones that's found in puddin's link (the Chinese or Malay varieties - the Malay ones are referred to as Kuih Raya).
georgiapeach -if there was a Yield--do you think you and your guys would have been able to see it? So they did steal the batik thing from TARAsia?
I think we would've seen it. I don't think any of us saw it (but we could always be wrong). The batik thing from TARAsia was of the decorative kind (where you draw the designs).. the batik thing from puddin's link are of the sarong kind (where the patterns are printed). Not exactly sure which one they did for TARAS, maybe Romeo knows.
duchess - how far ahead was the BQ, when C/M finished the task, and how did C/M finish ahead of the rest of the teams when they switched tasks?
Between the time the BQs finished the roadblock and the time C/M finished theirs.. I believe the time was over an hour. I can't tell what happened after the roadblock (possible taxi problems, traffic etc)
neobie - Newspaper collection? Oh, and public transport from KLIA to the city is tough enough (if you want to save money and skip the express rail service). From the city to Batu Caves using public transport? Close to impossible..! (Being the cheapskate backpacker I was, I tried searching and failed miserably...)
Wow.. good job on the newspaper collection thingy. And nice catch, by the way, Colby! It will be something similar to that. And OMG you are so right about using the public transport to Batu Caves.. I'm a local and I wouldn't do it if you paid me a million dollars. (okay I might - but it really is a pain in the ass).
puddin - good find on the batik and festive cookies! btw, the Pudding Johor in your avatar? Yum. Basically that's just pudding with good old English custard and fruit cocktails.
slowhatch - very nice work on the Google Earth points! And yes, Batu Caves IS under the clouds LOL
I hope I didn't miss anyone! I'm so impressed by all your spoilings! :jam:
-
So many wasted cookies... er, maybe not a lot since only Charla/Mirna seemed to have done this one. Thanks for that picture, Romeo.
Mirna does the Roadblock for this one, as well as that unaired Roadblock on Episode 7. Which means Mirna = 5, Charla = 3. Charla would have to do three of the last four Roadblocks, because of the 6 Roadblock per team member rule. I'm thinking if the Roadblocks aren't that physical, there is always a possibility that Charla would do well on those Roadblocks, and possibly help them to always place first (or second). However if the Roadblocks require lots of physical capability, this would be a good reason why they ultimately place 3rd in the final leg, especially if Charla performs the final, physically demanding Roadblock. :groan:
So now I wonder, was there a bike in the Roadblock that would've allowed Charla to do it? If not, then this would be like that Detour option in Mto Wa Mbu from TAR 5, wherein they had to go to a honey harvesting farm by bikes, and unfortunately (I think), Charla couldn't ride the bikes provided.
-

I just hope this wasn't a TBC leg, because that wouldn't really count as a first place!
-

Phils wearing that ugly shirt again :groan:
Not gonna tell who is the winner & the loser....

haha, yeah, so far i've seen Phil in the brown shirt that he does the "phil's preview" in, and that one!
I wonder if she knows that Izad ( :jam: ) already told the entire internet who is the winner & the loser!
-
Waiting to see if Slowhatch gets the picture properties

I had trouble loading the large pictures when I clicked on them. But I did find a cookie stall at the Chow Kit market (source page (http://kiwish.seesaa.net/archives/200510.html)).
I found these cookies at chow kit in Kuala Lumpur. It has a daily market at chow kit and you can see colorful cloths, passion fruits. I bought these cookies because 3boxes are just 10RM(=about 300yen)! It's reasonable.

Yep. It's at an airport:

Looking at the windows, KL International?

I mean, duh, stating the obvious.
But we can probably tell the time from our pictures, right? :kuss:
-
In the 2 pictures with Kamarul there are charts hanging in back of him and stuff to their left (your right) on a table. Can anyone make out any of the writing or stuff on the table to determine if TAR stuff?
-
That looks like a nice airport.
I can't wait to see D/K come first this Sunday. I wonder when the first yeild is going to show up.
-
Peter and Ryan are probably sound guys. Veronica Mikaelian (http://tv.yahoo.com/veronica-mikaelian/contributor/2272458) is a field producer.
Veronica is not a Field Producer. She is a Field Production Manager. There is a big difference. A producer is more concerned with program content, how things are coordinated, how the race is run. A production manager is more concerned with technical details, assignment of crews, money matters, etc. I know, I was a Field Production Manager with CBS-TV for two years.

Your the best Slowhatch
Phils wearing that ugly shirt again :groan:
I know, I was a Field Production Manager with CBS-TV for two years.
Your full of surprises Gman!! So given the dates we can conclude this episode is not a TBC since Izad has given us the pitstop and nischan has confirmed with her ...
Not gonna tell who is the winner & the loser.... and we lose Dec 11th in the timeline, extended pitstop, Malaysia Dec 10th & Hong Kong Dec 12th yadda yadda.
-
So would it be something like..
Malaysia > extended pitstop > Hong kong > TBC > macau?
-
Yeah something like that Michael :D
Leg9 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ( 12/10 ) [ 5 teams left, U/J eliminated or NEL U/J marked w/30 minute penalty]
Leg10 Hong Kong (12/12) [4 teams or 5 teams left, U/J eliminated ]
Leg11 Macau (12/14) [ 4 teams left, TBC ]
Leg12 Yigo, Guam/Honolulu, HI (12/16) [final 4 Chas eliminated in Guam ]
Finale Honolulu, HI to San Francisco, CA (12/16 to 12/17) [ final 3 race to the finish ]
-
I like all the remaining locations!
-
Some sort of chart 10 dec ..you can make out some of it
I believe that's Phil's name at the top of the middle poster.
-
The pic at the airport, looks like they are at a check-in line. Taken on the day they left Malaysia? Looks like Malaysian airlines?
In the conference room pics.....the two large sheets on the wall look like some sort of schedule. The paper on the left, looks like it has "Sat, 9 Dec" and it breaks stuff down into different items. the sheet on the right looks like it says 10-dec. Perhaps this was staging place for the Malaysian production team in getting ready for the racers to come to the area. This may be where they were meeting to make sure all tasks were ready to go and boxes set up and who was doing who.
The sheet on the right I find interesting. the writing directly under the "10 dec", almost looks like it could be airline info perhaps.
-
further.....I think the smaller paper to the far right says "Weather Forcast" at the top.
-
Maybe we'll get Phil's preview tonight. I remember it came out once while I was watching ANTM, but if not we'll get it tomorrow! :yess:
-
Just a thought. Isn't leg 9 episode 8? Episode 7 was legs 7 and 8. ;)
-
Yeah something like that Michael :D
Leg9 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ( 12/10 ) [ 5 teams left, U/J eliminated or NEL U/J marked w/30 minute penalty]
Leg10 Hong Kong (12/12) [4 teams or 5 teams left, U/J eliminated ]
Leg11 Macau (12/14) [ 4 teams left, TBC ]
Leg12 Yigo, Guam/Honolulu, HI (12/16) [final 4 Chas eliminated in Guam ]
Finale Honolulu, HI to San Francisco, CA (12/16 to 12/17) [ final 3 race to the finish ]
PUDDIN, one correction - the Macau pitstop is the evening of Dec. 13. The teams were spotted the morning of Dec. 14 leaving Macau to return via hydrofoil to reach Hong Kong and transfer to Kong Kong International Airport for their flight to Guam.

God bless easter! No school for five days! :yess:

LOL, yeah she is. I don't know why I've gone this long without cutting it. The picture on my myspace was taken on the day I got my last hair cut in august, and now it's way longer then that...but tomorrow i'll either be bald, or have really short hair.
-
The chow kit area may be batik or cookies, I just can't say right now. This cap of D/O might put them near the Brisdale (compare the 88 to the sign here (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2670694120064519599pxWfFJ)--click on full size; another photo in the album mentions that it's near to the Chow kit market). It probably doesn't matter much because:
- They act like they're lost
- It's been mentioned before that there's probably a lot of "88" names in KL
I've attached a couple of kmz: one of the chow kit area (approx.), and another of the bus station they would likely go to for transport to Batu Caves.

Thanks Slowhatch--and a big thanks for the blog pictures too--that was a fabulous find!
Did you have any luck mapping this all out? (Sorry if I missed something--my computer's insides got fried and the Dell man and I have had a just lovely day together! But I'm mostly back on track although need more work next week...)
I'd love to see where everything is and how it relates to each other and haven't had time to look yet.
Wasn't there another location mentioned in the blog too? Hatamus? and where is Kg Baru--is that recycling?
-
This picture has most of the stops (except Batu, which is on the north edge of town). As they learned in TAR3, the best way to get to town from the airport is the train (http://www.kliaekspres.com/index_train_schedules.html).

Chow =/- batik or cookies...
Pitstop at Carcosa...
Kampung Bara THE fire in Kampung Baru (in 2004?), Kuala Lumpur shed some light on the redevelopment of the oldest Malay settlement in the capital. A multi-million tourist attraction with shops, restaurants, and an art, craft and cultural centre will be built on the site of the well-known Pasar Minggu.
The Malaysia International Food and Cultural Centre is apparently part of the first phase of a development plan for the area — which includes the relocation of roadside stalls to sophisticated hawker centres — and is envisaged as the catalyst to transform Kampung Baru.
And found this:
In line with the Government’s Policy to alleviate road congestion and enhance the existing public transportation system, it has become indispensable to extend the existing Klang Valley Commuter Network to Batu Caves. Upon completion, residence in the Selayang/Gombak municipality would benefit from a high capacity railway service that would also serve as an alternative means for road transportation. The existing single track route will be upgraded to a double track and equipped with new infrastructure, i.e., new bridges, underpasses, drainage systems, new Sentul and Batu Caves Stations, new halts at Taman Wahyu, Kampung Batu and Batu Kentonmen, overhead electrification system 25kV AC (single phase) including modern signalling and communication system. The project is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2004 and expected to complete within a period of 30 months.
And this for directions to Batu Caves:
Directions: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur How to get there: Take Intrakota bus No 11D from the Central Market or the Cityliner bus No 69 at Jalan Pudu to get to Batu Caves. Taxis are also available anywhere around city. Taxi cost from RM12.00 to RM20.00

I made myself bald :'(

Nice find on the BLOG!!! (and just for the record, I don't know that girl.. but some of the faces there look familiar - besides Phil obviously).
The cookies detour was done in the Chow Kit area.. the batik detour was done in Kg (or Kampung) Baru.
I made myself bald :'(
There, there. At least you can be thankful that you're not balding like me
-
Hi :waves: Izad!
Did that new train station get opened? Would that be a reasonable way for our guys to get there? I know you said public transport would be a nightmare--and I think we see the BQ's at the bus station? How do you think they got to the Caves from the airport?
Thanks for being the go-to guy!
-
I think I just wont leave my house for a couple of days...yes...that's the plan :jam:
-
Hi peach!
At Batu Caves, we were actually waiting for them to arrive in a taxi, but was surprised to see them get off at Batu Caves on a public bus! So we think they possibly might've taken the KLIA Express train from the airport into the city, and from there take another (or a few more) buses before they can reach Batu Caves.
From Batu Caves to the next route marker in Kampung Baru, they got on taxis. Don't think they did any driving in this leg.
-
Peach, the closest rail station I could find is Sentul, 7 km away from Batu. An extension to the caves should be completed in 2009 (near the bottom of the article here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KTM_Komuter)). Even if the racers weren't specifically told to take buses, the safe play would probably be to find a Batu bus leaving from the city center rather than risk not finding public transit for the 7 km gap.

If the conference room was in the hotel listed - in the right side of the picture - or if the crew or racers stayed there, it was certainly NICE digs.

I get the feeling that it's Charla and Mirna who get encouragements from the locals, and then offer them some kind of advise. I also think the threat clue will involve the BQs and another team for some reason?

philly, where is my preview? (:;)

Danielle encourages the children after they help her with the trishaw :pedaler: ?
That would be my guess as well. When I was there only 1 little kid helped her (the one shown in the preview). And I don't know if they're gonna show this on tv, but the kid not only help push the trishaw.. but also helped her carry the newspapers when her trishaw got a flat.
-
Thanks for the info Izad!!
and as far as the Phil's preview I can't find a damn thing Michael ..its just not there yet :(
-
ooh, thanks Izad!
aw, oh well, the episode's on in 3 days anyways. I miss my hair :'(

Who needs a preview?
Izad's got us covered! All we need is the soundtrack!

ha ha, PEACH, do you think you could just get them to sign like...a random piece of paper or a card or anything you have lying around your house, because my dad is being dumb and he wont let me send anything! (that is to say, if they even go to tarcon!)

MONDAY MORNING ON THE EARLY SHOW
Waiting in line can test anyone’s patience. How would you react if someone cut in front of you? Our hidden cameras found the shocking results… Plus, actor Richard Gere will join us to talk about his new drama The Hoax. And, the latest team castoff from the Amazing Race: All Stars! These stories and more, Monday morning, on The Early Show.

hmm...a team gets eliminated?
That's odd. That means it will be the F4 for a while now.
-
Michael theres only one site that I trust and it doesn't update untill 4ish ET whether or not the latest "castoffs " are on the Early Show or not ..

Yeah, I want Phil's video too!
I'm also kind of looking forward to the next episode so we can all start speculating again! But this is a nice break from our usual deciding one thing, and then around Friday deciding to change everything we think and go with a new order.
-
hmm...a team gets eliminated?
That's odd. That means it will be the F4 for a while now.
I hope the tease is accurate (& U/J are bounced). This couple has disappointed me ever since they won the million bucks.
Too much pontificating B:) ....& not enough action.
Multiple episodes with a final 4 of D/K, Schmirna, E/D & Cha would be HIGHLY entertaining (imo).
-
We haven't done much speculation nor detecting this episode and that has taken a lot of the fizz our of anticipating what is going to happen on Sunday in Ep 9. Not like the detective work we all did on Eps 7 and 8 in which we had it pretty well figured out and had a pretty accurate scenario for the two eps except we had them in the reverse order. So be it, but with little to go on except the few pix in various promos and insiders we did a commendable job.
Most of that fizz has been lost for Ep 9; most of the scenario has been laid out for us by Izad and his "team". In post no. 145 some days ago, he claims that "none of us work for or know any of the production crew members." However, I really have some serious doubts about all that. They claim to have spotted Charla and Mirna arriving at KL airport at 4:30AM on Dec. 9. Do they usually hang out at the airport for days on end? How did they know that TAR was even coming to KL? How did they know what day they were arriving? How did they know at what time the first teams would arrive? At the time the teams were arriving in KL there had been no publicity on where in the world they were going after Latin America.
Later, Izad states that the teams took public transport to the Batu Caves. And that "We were already waiting for them to arrive in taxies but saw them get off a public bus." Now how in the world did Izad and his team know that the teams would be travelling to the Batu Caves after they arrived, when they would arrive, and how did they get there ahead of them. All this without prior knowledge?? KL covers a large area with many places teams could have gone, but Izad "just happened to be waiting for them" at the Batu Caves?
And in the case of the Detour Choice with the cookies, he says "I wasn't stationed there" but someone must have been and how did they know that this one particular place would be the site for the task?
I wonder if TPTB were aware that someone on the production team was talking out of turn, or someone let Izad and his "team" access to the production room in the Regent Hotel where all the times, places, and events were laid out for anyone to read on the wall?
Spoiling, speculation, detective work and just plain luck has been the underlying energy that has kept this board thriving, attracting more and more newbies. But this week having too much info has taken a lot of the fun out of it.
OK, call me a wet blanket or an old fuddy duddy, but a lot of the fun of watching TAR has been lost on me. Or, and this is a great big OR, is someone connected with TPTB pulling our collective legs?
-
Or, and this is a great big OR, is someone connected with TPTB pulling our collective legs?
LIKE SENDIND OUT 23000 WRONG BOOT LISTS FROM RELIABLE SOURCES AND THE REAL WINNERS ARE DUSTIN AND KANDICE?! .... I doubt it :( :'( I can see Green Raven from sucks acting all "this is fo shizzle" without actually good proof, but I can't see puddin doing that.

8:31 SEGMENT TEN - AMAZING RACE ALL STARS CASTOFFS: Down to only 5 teams, the
competition is getting intense as the race heats up. Monday morning, we will
talk to the latest Amazing Race team to be voted off the All Stars season.
We'll have a recap of Sunday's episode and talk to the castoffs about what
really went wrong.
-
that is so strange...have we ever had 3 episodes with the same teams?
At least this will be the first time I get to watch the finish line live, while a team is actually on it!
-
Can anyone recall where the interview is with BVM? when asked about the NEL legs he said something like " you'll just have to wait and see.." ???
-
that is so strange...have we ever had 3 episodes with the same teams?
Yeah,
TAR3: Legs 8 - 10
TAR5: Legs 8 - 10
-
I remember reading that too puddin! The only thing I could think of would be that they try some kind of F2 thing this year, but that wouldn't work because of the plane sighting.
-
^^^ As well as the cbs press release that the final 3 race to the finish.
-
Oh yeah :groan:
well that's odd then, I guess leg 10 NEL, leg 11 TBC, leg 12 chas gone oops, I mean leg 10 TBC, leg 11 NEL, leg 12 chas gone.

I share the same feelings that GMAN has expressed. I do not like the "week off". Having all the answers, except the very important ones of how the teams get to Kuala Lumpur International when they get there, handed to us by IZAD was indeed a mixed blessing.
-
I'm happy that Izad spoiled it for us. I like pretending that I don't know the outcome of the leg, but telling all my friends things like "I have a good feeling about D/K this week!" or "If D/K come in first you owe me five dollars!" They're all to dumb to notice I look at spoilers :rotf:
-
I'm happy that Izad shared with us and if your going to blame anyone blame me because I asked him to please post his play by play here knowing he was going to do so at sucks. Someone was bound to mirror the spoiler anyway so I thank Izad for bringing the spoiler to us directly. Also there was a warning not to read Izads post :D so neener neener.
heres the BVM interview ..
RNO: I noticed on the first episode that Phil said that a team “will” be eliminated. On the most reason seasons, he's been saying “may” be eliminated at Pit Stops. He also mentioned eight eliminations, but he didn't say anything about the number of non-elimination legs. Is there a reason for this change?
Van Munster: No... The reason – you'll find out when you watch all 13 episodes. Very good of you [to notice that]!
RNO (http://www.realitynewsonline.com/cgi-bin/ae.pl?mode=4&article=article6831.art&page=1)

hmm..now I'm curious...I wonder what that means ???

My real concern is: WHO IS IZAD and how did he know that the teams were going to the Batu Caves first so that he and his "team" could get there before they actually arrived?
Does he possess some kind of psychic powers or does he have an in with the production crew?

 I don't care how Izad came upon the racer info and don't see why knowing is so important anyway :badhorse:? Also Izad isn't some newbie, hes had credible spoilers (http://truedorktimes.com/survivor_palau/spoilers/ep2.htm) in the past and with any luck you will know who he is on Sunday night ;).

Finally, Phil's preview!! Looks like they are concetrating on U/J's plane flights, Danny/Oswald bickering and Dani's breakdown. No mention of the BQ's or Charla and Mirna.
My real concern is: WHO IS IZAD and how did he know that the teams were going to the Batu Caves first so that he and his "team" could get there before they actually arrived?
Does he possess some kind of psychic powers or does he have an in with the production crew?
How Izad came across the information is no one's business but Izad's. Does knowing how he came across the info change anything? I've been friends with Izad for 4 years or more and he is a regular poster at many different sites. He isn't someone who just appeared out of no where to post this information. I am thrilled for him that he got the opportunity to watch the race in person b/c he has always been a HUGE fan.
-
Yeah that colby! It's no ones business and it's not nice to call someone out on who they are or how they knew etc...
Izad and friends sightings, spoilers rule!!
-
Oh yeah :groan:
well that's odd then, I guess leg 10 NEL, leg 11 TBC, leg 12 chas gone oops, I mean leg 10 TBC, leg 11 NEL, leg 12 chas gone.
Don't forget about TAR 8 and how they had a NEL, a TBC and an elimination three (well, four because of that off week) weeks in a row. I think that's the most probable scenario if Uchenna/Joyce are indeed philiminated this Sunday. I wouldn't want to go through a TBC next week only to find out that no one gets eliminated after that.
I think it would make sense if the Macau leg is the TBC. If Danny/Oswald were the last to see Phil in the TBC pit stop, then it would make sense for them to be seen with Phil in a hydrofoil back to Hong Kong and then to Guam. If it would have been a NEL pit stop, after the last team check in, couldn't Phil and his crew ride any hydrofoil between the 12 hour resting period and go to Guam?
-
What is this I hear? TAR Detectives complaining about too much of a good thing?? That must mean the world is ending! :o :faint: :o
First of all, I think we all owe Izad and his team a huge vote of thanks! He (however he found out) did an absolutely perfect job of stalking our racers to bring us the best ever spoilers. He got excellent picture-perfect proof at every step along the way, and I can only commend him for an awesome job! And I think to criticize him for too much info is nuts--where would we be without his spoilers? I have said several times this season that I believe TPTB are being much more careful about what is revealed to us. The previews are much more tightly edited to reveal as little as possible--until Phil "gives" us what he wants us to know. Most weeks we would have had NO indication of who might be out either, if it wasn't for puddin's bootlist too.
Without Izad's spoilers where would we be? We would have nothing about the Batu Caves except our screencaps placing us there--no photo proof of which teams were there and leading--no info on "one couple way behind"----and until today, nothing about tasks. At least we have had the fun all season of anticipating this leg, wondering about it, and speculating on the tasks, and the flights.
I would dearly love to hear the "real story" behind this set of spoilers--because I think it would be fascinating to hear how all of this was masterminded. And Izad held back for MONTHS on telling all he knew so as not to dull our anticipation. I think if we really want spoilers--then we owe him our utmost appreciation for a job very well done!
Now having said that--has it been quiet? Do I miss our usual frenzy? Of course! But from the little we've been given to go on this week--I'm not sure we could have come up with much more. Any doubts? Take a look at Hong Kong and Macau and see how little we have there and how very much we don't know--then say thank you IZAD! And let's get cracking on doing our best spoiling ever on the last few legs! (You still can't tell me that no one in all of San Francisco saw anything...)
-
The dreaded TAR8 NEL/TBC, we were like will this race ever end?! :groan:
What you wrote makes sense hakushu :waves:
eta: peach was typing when I posted this and wanted to say ...WELL SAID PEACH :jam:!!

...The Hoax. And, the latest team castoff from the Amazing
Race: All Stars! Tomorrow (Coming up) on THE EARLY SHOW...
Maybe I'm reading too much into that bit from the Early Show... :lol3:
So from Phil's preview (thanks puddin! :waves:) we also see Oswald/Danny attempt the cookies challenge, and they switch? So that's two... *makes a note for lmolm's game*
I agree with peach. It's not really an off week, as Izad has given all the spoilers in a silver platter. I am very thankful and happy for their awesome investigation. If only I had a reliable source who could have told me that the teams went through here in Guam, I would have also tried to do what Izad and his team did. But I think then would be the time when you guys could doubt who the heck I am and why the heck did I share all this info.

omg! lol  Really I don't care if U/J stay or go but would rather if they stayed because watching 4 teams race for 3 legs is going to be zzzzzzzzzz
-
wow I missed a lot! YAY, PHIL'S PREVIEW FINALLY!
more credit to Izad's spoiler: we see Charla while Eric is telling Danielle that she has to go back.
-

Who the HECK are you! And why are you sharing? :rotf:  But a big Amen to the trying! I still can't believe that if I had gone to SF for Christmas just a couple of days sooner--who knows? I could have run into the teams in the airport! And then it would have been--bye Mom--I have to go "Follow that Taxi!"
And I'll take my info from the devil in disguise :sera: or from an angel  I'm not proud!
So Phil is now a Spoiler himself! Why would he totally give away poor U/J's flight woes? He all but said Sayonara--Goodbye Charlie--and come watch them get eliminated!
-
I know! WTF is with Phil giving that way. So they took that stupid risk just to get an hour lead. Stupid U/J!

My real concern is: WHO IS IZAD and how did he know that the teams were going to the Batu Caves first so that he and his "team" could get there before they actually arrived?
Does he possess some kind of psychic powers or does he have an in with the production crew?
Hi. My name is Izad. I'm 30 years old. I've lived in Malaysia all my life (except for the 3 years of college in England). I work in a computing firm in Kuala Lumpur, and I do freelance writing for several publications. I'm a reality tv show junkie, I love cats and despite what puddin says, I really AM Balding. ;D
Anyway, back in early December, one of my readers told me that the Amazing Race All Stars was possibly coming to Kuala Lumpur. I had a lot of doubts at first, but after a few days of beggings, pleadings and returning sexual favours (kidding!), I found out that he might actually be teling the truth. I finally got a tip off that they could possibly be in the Gombak area on December 10th. I quickly grouped a couple of friends who were as enthusiastic about TAR as I was.
We suspected it would be at Batu Caves cause basically that's one of the major tourist attractions in that area. We had no idea what time they were coming in.. so the 5 of us actually went there before 6 am (the sun still wasn't up). We saw a couple of vans with cameras and stuff.. and thought we had hit the jackpot. but it was hard for us to, you know, 'hide' from them cause there were nobody else there at the time. We finally saw them erected the TAR cluebox, and that's when we knew... THIS WAS IT! Luckily enough, we only needed to wait for two hours to see the first team arrive.
We realized we had to split up if we want to continue on spying on their entire route, so that's what we did (if you're wondering what I meant by 'stationed'.. we had to delegate the trailing tasks between the five of us). And the rest, is history.
None of us had any direct contact with the production team. Well, I personally tried to be the 'innocent' passerby and asked two dfferemt crew members at different times at the Batu Caves, but neither said anything.. well they actually said "we can't say anything". So we just stayed. And watched. And listened. They couldn't ask us to bugger off because Batu Caves was a public touristy area. In fact, they were other people taking pictures at Batu Caves as well. The general public there might be confused because at that time "The Amazing Race Asia" was airing, so I think people there were a bit confused (you'd be surprised to know how many people think that all these shows.. Amazing Race, Survivor etc are all done in 'real time'. LOL). At Hartamas, I was actually shushed away by one of the crew members (that bitch!) when I slowly inched towards and started a conversation with Charla. So yeah, we didn't get any inside info directly from them. All we had was the Gombak tip off.
I'm pretty sure many of you, being HUGE TAR fans, wouldn't do anything differently than what we did. 'Chancing' on seeing these racers in action, is like a dream come true for any TAR fans. I sincerely do hope, some of you will get a similar chance like this in the future, cause personally for me, it's the closest thing I'll ever get to being on the show itself! ;D
As for spoiling this entire leg.. I don't know.. there were only 5 of us. And we had to split up a lot of times, so other than our observations, a LOT of it also includes our assumptions as well. They might be several things that we missed (like for example, we didn't know the Chas actually performed the cookies detour, and we honestly don't know what the website clue meant by the locals helping the racers "in surprising ways"), so a lot of things are still up in the air. And we don't even know how the editors will edit the episode even with all this information going around.
I had my reservations about sharing this spoiler at first because Chill One's All Star Survivor bootlist spoiler totally ruined the entire season for me. Seriously. Because it's a bootlist. The end. There's no room left for assumption or speculations and I hated that. Which was why I only decided to release our 'suspected play by play' this week instead of way back in December. I really wanted to.. I mean, as a TAR fan, it really was something that only TAR fans could possibly appreciate. There were some people who keep saying that I was posting it for the 5 minutes worth of fame, and I'm playing the 'I know something that you dont' game with them. But I just wanted to give some leeway for them to continue all the speculations and things. Hell, I could've already said on December 12th that Romber was 100% out of the game, but I didn't cause I wanted to give Romber fans some kind of hope and not give up on the show. This spoiler thingy.. tricky business aint it? It's hard to please everyone. LOL
Anyway, no worries.. no more spoilers from me. I think I already told what we know about the leg. We could be wrong with some of the info, but based on our discuassions, assumptions, eye witness accounts, that's how we think the leg will play out.
AND I am continually amazed by all your spoiling efforts here at RFF. You guys are amazing! And I really mean that! :hearts: Keep up the excellent, EXCELLENT work!
-
Why I think O/D are arguing.
It looks like each team would get their own canopy covered stacks of cookies. Maybe O/D showed up and C/M were still going through packs of cookies. Danny then realized C/M had to have been doing it a while to still be there. So Danny wants to switch and Oswald thinks they should stick it out and is trying to reason with Danny to get him to support his wanting to stick with the cookies. They may be real close to cookies where they could actually go back to them.
It's either C/M decide to switch so Danny wants to. Or D/O switch so C/M switches.
IMO: Why for both teams are they starting in the same corner and in the front corner at that. I would think that they would put the clue in the middle or towards the end. Although production may think I'd think that way so they may try to outsmart me and put the clue in the front which could be considered the beginning of the boxes. Who knows?????????????? :dknow

IZAD! :luvya:
Thank you so much for sharing the background on your incredible spoiling adventure. I can only imagine your excitement about the opportunity to see the production and teams in action and only wish I could have been part of your team! That would be a dream come true.
As Ian would say, you played with honor.
Thank you for the Poland hint, thank you for the beautiful Batu Cave pictures, and thank you for using your discretion about when and how much information to release--I've loved every bit of the journey.
I sincerely do hope, some of you will get a similar chance like this in the future, cause personally for me, it's the closest thing I'll ever get to being on the show itself!
I hear that TAR Asia's application deadline for season 2 was extended till April 13--it isn't too late to apply!
Meanwhile, I will watch on Sunday hoping to catch a glimpse of you and your team, and with great anticipation about seeing more of your beautiful city!
-
Izad, thanks so much for sharing. What fun. If my wife and son would let me leave them behind for a day, I would jump at the chance to attempt the same thing, and I would have been far less able to keep most of the info until the week it aired. I think you've done an excellent and admirable job. I also think you will find a huge majority of support here, but don't worry about 100%, that is just a sign of critical thought, which is necessary for good sleuthing.
Back to my role as lurker....
-
:welcome2: jaywhacker!
No more lurking--stay and play! Sounds like you have good thoughts to contribute--we'd be glad to have you!

Nicely stated Izad!

Your an excellent writer Izad and I second what jaywhacker wrote "I think you've done an excellent and admirable job."
Now can tell me how you keep that nice suntan :D?

If only we had someone as great as Izad stationed in San Fransisco on the day the finale was aired!

posted this at sucks too :
Okay.. this post might upset some people and will most definitely suck the fun out of speculation, so if you don't want to be (possibly) totally spoiled, don't read this post.
disclaimer : this play by play for the Malaysian leg is drafted based on my fellows scouts and my personal xperience/knowledge (none of us work for, or personally know any of the production crew members).

At this point, would someone instruct Ucheynna & Joyce to go straight to the pit stop? Especially if it is an elimination leg? It seems like this happened to a team once before over the seasons...I can't remember which team or season.
... ??? Or are they still going to have to complete all tasks making Phil wait while Ucheynna and Joyce complete all their tasks?

I know someone who supposedly was contacted to 'help with the production team', that they will be in Malaysia this weekend. Should I start camping out at the airport?

'supposedly' was the right choice of word, i'm afraid. ;) Happy Easter, folks!

Hi IZAD!
Happy Easter to you too! And I've said it upstream but truly, thank you so much for including us all in your incredible spoiling adventure. You and your team did a perfect job, and I admire how you handled the whole she-bang. And I don't care a fig how you found out--I'm just glad you did or this week would have been cold potatoes for us. So: :gj:
Please join us in the live chat tonight--I'm already excited! Is there a chance we might see you or your team? Any of you a new Fern??

Ahh! Just wanted to get in one last quick thanks to you Izad! It's sad that the episode is going to air, I've been looking forward to it since December! I hope you know we all appreciate the work you and your team did!
I'm also looking forward to the usual speculating for leg10! BRING IT ON!

From wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Amazing_Race_statistics_and_trivia):
Eight teams have proceeded directly to the pit stop without completing the rest of the tasks after hearing they were already in last place and were eliminated.
* Paul & Amie, Leg 5, Season 1 (in Sfax, Tunisia)
* Peggy & Claire, Leg 3, Season 2 (in Cape Town, South Africa)
* Shola & Doyin, Leg 4, Season 2 (in Namibia)
* Mary & Peach, Leg 7, Season 2 (in Hong Kong)
* Michael & Kathy, Leg 5, Season 3 (in Fez, Morocco)
* Andre & Damon, Leg 7, Season 3 (in Füssen, Germany)
* Peter & Sarah, Leg 6, Season 10 (in Kuwait)
Although I'm hoping they at least go to Batu Caves and be told to see Phil at Carcosa. But we never know... :snicker:
Happy Easter Monday, everyone! :hoppy

... ??? Or are they still going to have to complete all tasks making Phil wait while Ucheynna and Joyce complete all their tasks?
:hoppy
:waves: Thanks Hakushu for the reply to my question...I didn't realize there were that many in that situation over the seasons.
Happy Easter to all (what's left of the day)! :bunny

Hi. My name is Izad. I'm 30 years old. I've lived in Malaysia all my life (except for the 3 years of college in England). I work in a computing firm in Kuala Lumpur, and I do freelance writing for several publications. I'm a reality tv show junkie, I love cats and despite what puddin says, I really AM Balding. ;D
BTW I love cats too Izad! I treat them like they are my babies and they treat me like I'm their mommy :hearts: I bet your a Capricorn?
Also last night we were watching the Malaysian Grand Prix and felt your pain for the heat and humidity :grins:. My bf was stationed in the Philippines and knows oh so well how awful it was.
-
I think I haven't said this yet...
Asian legs are love. :hearts:
-
:bunny
Happy Easter everyone!
Enjoy the show!
I've been looking forward to this episode since Izad spoiled the final 5. I can't wait. congrats Izad! Maybe we will see you in the background! :js:

Izad! Maybe we will see you in the background!
So Izad!? Did we see you?? :waves:

Izad?? :waves:

I bet you Izad yelled "GO CHARLA!"
-
OMFG. My bit fat ass didn't actually fill up the entire tv screen? Miracles DO happen. LOL. Thanks for the caps puddin :hearts:
And can I tell you how GLAD I am that we missed the Yield and the Chas and Eric/Danielle doing the cookies challenge? At least there were still some surprised in the eppie :)
-
WAS THAT YOU?? Helping Charla?? Oh my....
-
:yess:
Izad, AWESOME JOB!
I'm glad you didn't know about the yield!
-
Pitstop confessional--this one at least is at the Carcosa!

I am green with envy Izad :jumpy: I just knew that was you :luvu: ..you rock!!!
-
Puddin - I am too!
I would give anything to be able to help teams in a task! ...ok not anything, because that's kind of strange...but you get what I'm trying to say! I'd even help E/D if I ran into them in the streets....I'd help any team!!!
-
peach we'll wait and see what the insider clips give us :yess:

-
Another night confessional from E/D, or is that from a past episode ???
-
I'm not recalling it but it could be old ??? ..usually I remember this stuff ( too much candy I guess?)
-
Danielle's hair looks different to me....I think it might be new.
I wonder if this was one of those "night" legs or if E/D are in the back again? I was happy that they actually ran a good leg this time, because at least if they are going to win I want them to be a strong team.
-
I think it is new too--looks like they could be in the atrium of a large hotel lobby or on a balcony overlooking another building...

-
Danielle looks pretty pissed....I wonder if she just finished ripping off the blondies heads?
-
Danielle looks pretty pissed....I wonder if she just finished ripping off the blondies heads?
I think that was actually right after she mentioned the blondies....so I'd say that's why.
-
LOL, i was just making a joke :rotf:
-
And i was agreeing with ya! ;D
-
I think Danielle actually looks better with her hair pulled back then her normal style (though her blond streaks always look awful in my opinion). Go natural, brunettes can be sexy too.
-
Danielle would look very, VERY hot with brown hair! :jam:
-
Danielle would look very, VERY hot with brown hair! :jam:
Seriously I think the "blonde" look actually makes an attractive girl less attractive and more generic.
-
I can't imagine a brown headed Dustin and Kandice
I think they are mighty hot as blondes...just like that local Malaysian racer... "The way you look, yeah"
-
Yay Izad!! Congrats on being on TAR!!! I was so glad to see you helping Mirna and Charla.
-
Since we started a thread for this episode I will post my airline spec for C/M flying into KL, that is if they are leaving from Warsaw.
I"m your biggest fan!" (I'm only guessing he said that)
Go me! for figuring out the Flight that Charla and Mirna were on! :wohoo:
-
As requested:
- First the boy and girl (brother/sister?) give her newspapers and then follow her around
- Then red shirt lady shows up
- Then Izad shows up to help push. The boy is carrying newspapers (is that allowed?)
- One more push shot. Red shirt lady takes a break.
- Goodbye, future Mirnas

-
I'll never get over the "Stay out of drugs..." line LOL
I have to say, I really liked the music they played when team #1 (dustin and kandice :yess: ) ran to the pit stop ... it was different then usual.
-
Slowhatch :thankyou: :jumpy:
-
I still can't believe Izad HELPED C/M, and was able to hold this back for this long! I would be blabbing all over the internet the day after!
-
A few other things to note:
- Did they happen to hit the neighborhood on recycle day? The racers easily found houses with large stacks, some right next to the door
- The recycle collection guy had his own set of instructions
- Not one good shot of an instruction card (not even half of a card)

-
Someone brought up a good point the other day, this could be C/M's down fall in the final leg that puts them in last place.
Roadblocks
Charla 3, Mirna 5 ( 5 with the rowboat RB not shown at Lazienki Lake, Mirna did the task )
-
That sucks! And I bet you they saved a lot of physical RB for the end!
-
I still can't believe Izad HELPED C/M, and was able to hold this back for this long! I would be blabbing all over the internet the day after!
I probably wouldn't have helped other than selling them my papers, for some reason i dislike C/M....Last time i disliked Mirna, this time for some reason Charla is more annoying but Mirna isn't exactly on my good side either...

It depends for me, some episodes I feel like I'm watching two different teams...they can be extremely entertaining and hilarious, but they could also be extremely rude and annoying.

Having flown throuhg Frankfurt a few times, Uchenna and Joyce's took a HUGE risk with that hour connection. The Frankfurt airport is huge and often times for international flights the terminal you arrive and leave in are on opposite sides of the airport. Plus you have to go through security lines a couple of times which also includes the passport authorities.
If they had not been in economy and maybe in business class or first class it may not have been a problem though. My last flight through Frankfurt was on my way back from Berlin last May and my flight was late. Fortunately for me, I was on a business trip and flying in business class so when I stepped out of the gate in Frankfurt, there was an employee of Lufthansa waiting for me to escort me to through the aiport. She actually put me on a shuttle on the tarmac, drove me across the airport and walked me passed the line at the passport control gate and through to the next security line to have my carry on x-rayed and then I was on to my gate to board the plane. That was my saving grace on that trip.

Plus they have security check points even after getting off the plane and their security check points are worse than others because they use wands on everyone therefor it gets backed up easily. Also they test every electronic devise and i'm sure the cameras were checked individually as well as cam crew phones, etc.
Worst airport i've been to that i would NEVER connect through is DC, frankfurt is close behind.
Also i checked the Hawaii info....it seems that Honolulu works perfect for a finish line but Maui would work better for a race checkpoint. possibly before Honolulu

I like repeating the name of the detour choices over and over again in my head...they had a nice ring to them!
-
slowhatch or puddin. can you grab screencaps of the crowd watching Charla and Mirna at the Detour? I just watched the episode again and I think I saw Romeo. When Charla and Mirna are doing the cookie detour, Mirna tells the people watching to cheer them on. That is when the camera pans to the crowd and Romeo yells out, "Go Charla!" If I'm looking correctly, the person that yelled that out was wearing like a tannish shirt and black pants. That I believe is Romeo.
-
Izad, would these two men next to D/K be one of your team?

Here's a cap, Colby. Do you recognize anybody? To tell you the truth, the girl in the green shirt and the guy in the black shirt/cap look sort of like the production assistants from the blog.

I've seen Izad's picture and trust me he is far from balding :kuss:

Just like TAR 7 (Brothers Brian & Greg).... "Stay in school.....Don't do drugs" !! :funny:
:ya3: Called it!!
But Myrna...you aren't as funny as Brian & Greg, and you're schtick is getting old. :groan:
Please go back with your physical descriptions of Miss Alli (& you and Charla just stick with your "Lucy & Ethyl" hijinks). :pfight:
-
Izad, would these two men next to D/K be one of your team?
Nope. I don't think they're part of the camera crew either.
and I think this might be romeo, but I can't tell for sure (and yes, the guy wearing black and sunglasses does look like the same guy from the blog photo

Thanks Hound!!
I think the person yelling Go Charla came from the the area where the red arrow is. I think it was the guy in the tan shirt and black pants but I'm not entirely sure.

From what I overheard, at first Malaysia supposed to be NEL. So think about Uchenna and Joyce helped by NEL for the second time. But I guess, because they were so lagging behind they decided to eliminate them. So next episode would be NEL, I would expect that.

I guess sometimes they have to change it. Like another case of "12 hours mandatory rest period". They reached the pitstop in KL on Sunday. But they left to another destination (HK or Macau Im not sure) only on Tuesday. So its not 12 hours anymore. Im sure after editing they will tell that it is 12 hours.

They arrived late at night and left in the dark as well, so that made me think it was a 24-hour pitstop. It struck me 'cause it was different than what I'm used to seeing.

More Izad and his crew love! :luvya:

Worst airport I've ever been to? This Hua Airport in GuangZhou.
They cancelled our prebooked AND preconfirmed tickets which involved us (sister and mum) running around for about 3 hours (TAR STYLE BABY!) to try and make the flight by doing nearly everything to get back to Australia.
It was terrible but a good experience when you look back ;D
Also, I think Izad wrote on his blog (which I have been following religiously for nearly 2 years) that the girl in the red was his friend (Kim?).
Anyway, when my mum and I were watching this episode on my comp, I said OMG THAT'S IZAD! and she looked at me like I had a case of the rabies.
I really hope hope hope he makes it to TAR:ASIA2!
GO IZAD!

Could we have a blog link please?
Did you guys in Asia see this today??
Sounds like fun--IZAD??
Amazing Race-style competition using digital devices kicks off in S'pore
By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 13 April 2007 1741 hrs
SINGAPORE: If you are fit and love gadgets, a brand new race in Singapore might just be something up your alley.
The competition format is based on the popular reality TV series, Amazing Race.
Besides a good knowledge of the country, contestants also need to be tech-savy.
Each team will have to use a cellphone and multimedia computer by Nokia, which is organising the race.
Participants need to solve clues across the island before they can get to the finish line.
In the process, participants must intelligently use Wi-Fi hotspots and the 3G network all over Singapore.
About 30 teams are expected to compete in the day-long race which will be held on 26 May.
This will be followed by similar races in six other Asian countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, India and the Philippines.
Those who are interested to register can do so on this website, http://www.wirelessadventure.com.sg.

Izad's blog (http://www.izadsyah.com/cp/), which is a very nice read, and helped us figure out that Pieskowa Skala was a race location.
-
Thanks hakushu !!!
-
Greetings all. Has anyone been able to determine definitively -- from a racer at TARCon or similar source -- whether Eric/Danielle and Charla/Mirna got a penalty for taking taxis during the Detour on this leg? Or has Chateau solved this mystery through sun angle analysis of the arrival times? [/pet peeve]
-
:welcome2: strategery!
How great to FINALLY see you over here! :yess:
I don't think we have heard a final answer about this though--driving you nuts is it?
We can ask BigPapi to ask Eric for us though!
-
How great to FINALLY see you over here!
Happy to be here and am always very impressed by the sleuthing at RFF -- but for better or worse I try to stay unspoiled until the eps air so by the time I'm starting to research things y'all have figured it all out already. Besides, somebody has to keep the timeline torch from burning out at TWoP.
On the penalty point, maybe that charlaandmirna site is another option for getting an answer -- although I'm not sure Mirna would answer a question that reflected negatively on her. Or maybe she'll come up with some rationale about how editors MADE HER take a taxi by, um . . . withholding cookies?
-
strategery, if the timeline torch burns out at TwoP's or even if it doesn't...you all are more than welcomed here and there is another Forum that was created for non-spoilers below The Amazing Race All Stars General Chit Chat (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/board,72.0.html) that can be used for the future if you don't want to venture into the spoiler forum :yaya:.
-
but for better or worse I try to stay unspoiled until the eps air
I so USED to be there!
But that's no fun--come on over to the dark side! :spoiler:
We would seriously love to have your skills join us over here!
I'll add the question in the ask Mirna thread if you want...
But I think we may have better luck asking Eric! I'm just not entirely sure how much the racers are contractually able to say yet...
-
Thanks for making me feel so welcome, georgiapeach and puddin. And whoever it was that got me into the TAR Detectives group, I feel very honored.
But that's no fun--come on over to the dark side!
I thought I had detected a disturbance in the force. :)
I'll add the question in the ask Mirna thread if you want...
Maybe I should take you up on that. 99% chance she doesn't know me from Adam, but if she has been checking TWoP, well . . . I haven't been kind. Thanks again, georgiapeach. And it looks like we have a pretty good chance of getting an answer from Mirna (maybe not a straight answer but probably an entertaining one).
-
Your reputation precedes you!
Okay, I just added the question over there--hopefully I asked it right? It was between the detour and the roadblock, right?
-
Question answered--wow she's quick! link (http://z4.invisionfree.com/charlaandmirna/index.php?s=07f55de1e7a931217844fd4d1aa72704&showtopic=14&st=0&#last)
As for a penalty in Malaysia. I also thought it was odd the way the edit showed Phil read the clue. (But, I wouldn't put to much weight on the way things we chopped together this season.) I recall the clue saying walk to the Batik challenge, as that was less than 1/4 mile away from the last clue. The cookie challenge was approximately 10 minutes away by car, so I really don't think production would have waited around for everyone to walk for over 1 hour to get there.
As for me and Charla, we took a taxi to the Cookie challenge, when that failed (2 1/2 hrs later ), I read the clue to do the Batik, and we took the taxi right back to the location where we got our last clue, from there we walked the aprox. 1/4 mile to do the Batik challenge. In that event, a penalty could not be assess b/c we completed the Detour from the beginning point. (By the way, if you change Detours, you do not have to go back to the beginning pt per the rules, we just did that to be sure we completed the walk and avoid any penalty). I know this was ok, b/c one of the main prodcuers asked us what we decided to do as we left the Cookies and I explained my reasoning and he nodded ok.
As for E & D I don't know what they did. But I'm pretty sure you did not have to walk to the location if you choose the cookie detour. I know they did not have any penalty assessed.
Finally, in the end who cares, Uchenna and Joyce were about 7 to 8 hours behind all of us, so it didn't really matter.
-
Excellent! Thank you so much, georgiapeach -- you rock. And with all the scoop she's providing, I might even have to rethink my attitude toward Mirna. . . . OK, maybe not.
As for her answer, that's certainly different from what we heard on the show and on the (not-so-reliable) CBS web site (here (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race11/shows/ep08/index2.shtml)). That says it was less than a mile from the clue box (near Kampung Baru Mosque) to each Detour location -- "one third of a mile on foot to Dewan Lama" for Artistic Expression, "on foot half a mile to Chow Kit Bomba" for Cookie Confection.
Not sure about Dewan Lama yet (though Mirna says that one was close; I think Lama just means Road). But this map (http://malaysia.sawadee.com/kualalumpur/map_big.htm) of KL shows a Kg Baru subway stop in cell C5, and Chow Kit is not far away -- about 1/2 KM west. So maybe that's not really where the cookie stand was??
-
Without rereading the whole thread I thought that thanks to Izad and Chateau we knew where those tasks were but I'll have to look again unless one of them remembers...
See what you've been missing? We'll "spoil" you yet!
-
I thought that thanks to Izad and Chateau we knew where those tasks were
Like I said before, you folks have this all figured out before I even get started. But maybe Izad or Romeo can pin-point exactly where the Detour tasks were staged and help us figure out whether Cookie Confection was father away than it was described (10 minute cab ride vice 10 minute walk).
