Title: Languages of TAR: Translators needed :)
Post by: georgiapeach on October 28, 2010, 09:44:55 PM
We will soon be starting another TAR season, and TAR Aus will be running soon as well, meaning many more fun locations to come!

With the increasing worldwide use of Twitter/blogs/FB posts in various languages, Slowhatch brought up the question of do we have a list of who here speaks what languages?

So if any of you talented posters would be willing to share your language skills and help with translating, would you add what languages you can manage here?

Google translations only take a girl so far, I had some pretty hysterical Chinese ones recently.

Thanks everyone!

I also understand a little of Spanish because it's similar to Portuguese.
I had French classes for 3 years so I know a little bit, but it's only a few words :P

English and Spanish.  In fact, I majored in English and minored in Spanish in college.

ETA:  I also know some words in French and a few in German, Russian and Japanese -- but not near enough to carry on a real conversation.

Hello!

I'm from the Philippines, so I can translate from Tagalog, Bisaya. I am also fluent in French so I can help.

I know a bit of Japanese but not enough to understand what is going on, I do have a tool to help me so I might be able to translate it.

Well, the "i" should be capitalized and the "e" in "English" as well,  and the spelling of "mistakes" is wrong, but otherwise ... not bad.

I can read, write & speak Japanese. I'll be glad to help if you need to.

Hey, cool!  I'm always fascinated with the reasons start learning Japanese.  I know the #1 reason (heh heh), but just curious - what's yours? (unless you are a native speaker)

I can speak English, Australian Slang, Greek Accent and Greek.

Greek Accent is different to English because Greeks who do not know how to speak English to a point where they can have a conversation can (mysteriously) understand it! I speak from experience.

(Ignore above post)

With the addition of my transcripts to the RFF wiki, I have created a new Category called Transcripts requiring translations (http://realityfanwiki.com/index.php?title=Category:Transcripts_requiring_translations). Anything in here requires help from someone who knows the foreign language.

Currently, someone who speaks Arabic is required.

If you think you can help, send me a PM.

Mother language: polish; other - quite well in English

I'm from the north of Poland and people often speak there Kashubian (which seems like polish with a little bit of German) - I can understand most of that however TAR would probably never get there)

Omg. Me too! Since I lived in Bangkok. It's a bit funny to hear what the native speak to them.

It's glad to hear someone is actually learning Thai. <3 Since as I'm native, I think this language is a bit complicate and really difficult to interpret.

Hey! Do you speak Portuguese, Hebrew, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Norwegian, Vietnamese, French, Tagalog or Ukrainian?

Then head on over here:
http://realityfanwiki.com/index.php?title=Roadblock (http://realityfanwiki.com/index.php?title=Roadblock)

I finally added in what I have been putting off for far too long; a full listing of all Roadblock prompts. If you would like to help, please just take a look at the prompts in your relative language and let me know if any of the translations are off. Most of these go purely off of Google Translate. For Hebrew, also consider checking the mouseover text to see if the transliterations are correct.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Oh, and I haven't put up any in-progress seasons yet. Those'll come when the season ends.

(PS: If I'm missing a Roadblock prompt somewhere, let me know. I'm going to reformat the page to be more readable at a later date)

Please give GB a hand?? This WIKI is AMAZING!!
