If the finale is Nov 29th ( it actually doesn't tell us Finale ?) then this would be stinky if it were 1hour ..but this is as far as the press release goes so?? but the surprise ending has me wondering ... }}

-
It will end in Nov because of Nov. Sweeps for the networks. If they push the finale into December, it means the network doesn't have a lot of confidence in the show, and that isn't good.
Rob
-
You guys are probably right but a 1 hour finale sucks ..Raises my eyebrows too , love surprises ! Probably another team waiting to promote the DVD release or GSN hype {l{ ..I hope its Romber just to piss you off Rob ]][
-
I'll go against the current and stick with my original guess: a 20 Dec finale to coincide with the release of the TAR7 DVD (and the Canadian ice-cream vendors will be a TAR7 team).

I'm in favor of a November 29 grand finale. And the shows could line up like this:
Nov. 1 - EP 6 - Panama/Costa Rica - ELIMINATION - 5 Teams left.
Nov. 8 - EP 7 - Arizona - NON ELIMINATION - 5 Teams left. (First Hour)
Nov. 8 - EP 8 - Utah - ELIMINATION - 4 Teams Left (Second Hour)
Nov. 15 - NO TAR
Nov. 22 - EP 9 - Wyomng/Montana - NON ELIMINATION - 4 Teams Left
Nov. 29 - EP 10 - Toronto/Montreal - ELIMINATION - 3 Teams Left
Nov. 29 - EP 11 - Niagara Falls -FINAL RACE TO THE MAT (This could be a second hour tonight)
-
I was just trying to put this sequnce in the timeline.
But I have it ... not quite the same.
I'm just guessing. We can try to sort things out as days go by.

Hey Chateau, I've been there, but I took the cruise at night. Is your avatar a screen capture from TAR1?
I bought the DVD and have only two more episodes to go.
P.S. Don't give away too many of your detective methods. It's kind of like a magician telling how a trick worked.
-
My visit was not a cruise. :t-up:

Phil says "you're still racing" ala Season 7, Ep 7 in India. He's probably been waiting to do his eyebrow thingy again! |#'

My visit was not a cruise.
Even though it is a very touristy thing to do, I first saw your avatar taking a night time cruise on the river. Many of the great buildings in the city were lit up. It sure was something to see.
I hope you have a good story once Puddin replies. >*&
As for me, I hope to pedal up the Monster of the Provence someday.

Boo!!
Good job Puddin (and Pedaler) you got it.
Puddin, I'm sorry to hijack the thread with this travel goobble-d-gook but ...
There were seven of us and we stayed here (http://www.chezvous.com/paris/apartments/290.html). One of us, upon arrival by her separate taxi asked the driver "Is this a safe area?" She was after all standing in front of an old building that goes back to the 1700's. The driver said words to the effect: "Lady, this neighborhood is one the most expensive in Paris."
I loved every minute we were there. You could not decide whether to stand on the little balcony staring at any of a dozen captivating scenes or events or activities...OR go out of the apartment to do something Parisian. As soon as kid's tuitions are paid I'm going back.
Pedaler, are you going to do a bike ride up the Rhone? I did this trip (http://www.backroads.com/trips/BDDQ.html) once but it was a camping version.
Before you get too far try to find this:

I have to admit something about that Pantheon picture. When I took it (summer of 2003) I had forgotten all about the cat. I just took it to get the pendulum. Then, when the GSN showings started I thought: Oh, was the cat there? {l{

BACK TO THE SCHEDULE:
Ep 7 - First Hour could the "you look rediculous" be a comment by Phil as the last team comes in and has learned from the Godlewski Sisters to pile all your clothing on if you think you are running last which could mean that Ep 7 (First Hour) would be a NONELIMINATION LEG. Pit stop in either Cosa Rica or Arizona to be determined.
Ep. 8 - Second Hour is set in Arizona and would be an ELIMINATION LEG with a pit stop at the La Puesta del Sol.(Sixth of Seven elimination legs)
Ep. 9 - (Nov. 22) The teams "are taken to new heights" could refer to hot-air balloon ride in Park City, Utah. With only four teams, this is a NON ELIMINATION LEG
Ep. 10 - First Hour, Nov. 29 Wyoming/Montana ELIMINATION LEG (Seventh of Seven elimination legs - as announced by Phil at start of the series.)
Ep. 11 - Second Hour, Nov. 29 Toronto/Montreal/Niagra Falls - Final finish line.

The most boring season of “The Amazing Race” wraps up Nov. 29,
-
I did my utmost and got CBS to switch the finale of TAR8 to the end of the November Sweeps (Nov. 29); on Dec. 13 I plan to be halfway across the Atlantic toward Paris to begin our Christms/New Year holiday in Germany and Austria (with a side trip to Budapest to check up on TAR6 locations) but having the finale of TAR8 in the midst of pre-Christmas re-runs did not make any kind of sense at all. Hopefully, we will see the finale stretched out to two hours, otherwise it is going to be awfully cramped to get everything in from Whyoming, Montana, Montreal, Toronto, and Niagara Falls.
-
Gman {l{ !!
anyway I don't know that Amy Amatangelo of the Boston Herald has done her homework ..we've seen this before i.e. the Missouri River article that stated TAR was filming in September ;) .
-
(with a side trip to Budapest to check up on TAR6 locations)
Have a great time in Hungary but:
1) Don't rent a Trabant
2) Don't sleep on a bench outside a railway station
3) Don't drink any blood
4) Don't rent a boat and try to row across the Danube
5) Watch out for the gate at the Railway Museum
6) And, most of all, take it easy if you order that spicy stew
Despite all that, Hungary seems like a great place to visit >*&
-
I guess it is alright to visit the Internet Cafe.
Actually, we probably will dine at the Gundel Ertterem which is one of the really great restaurants in the world, but I will stay away from ordering Halaszle (that's the spicy carp soup poor Victoria couldn't handle) Marhaporkolt Tarhonyaval is more my style (spicy goulash)
-
Can we come :yaya: ??
Oh poo Gman .. I'd trade places with you in a N.Y. minute , miss you already , takes lots of pictures and please share ]**]
-
Make sure you ride one of the taxis with the Marilyn Club advertisement. And find that cabbie who dumped Jonathan. He gets big thanks!
-
And if you visit Gundel, bring back some of these (http://www.gundel.hu/etterem/index.php?lang=en&mid=3) for us. >*&
-
Good choice, Slowhatch, but the Gundel Palacsinta do not travel well because the flambeed pancakes and especially the chocolate sauce mess up the suitcase something awful!
-
i keep reading about the surprise at the mat. i'm beginning to think it's going to be like survivor in that they arrive but phil doesn't tell them their place. just that the race is over and they'll do it live at the finale. that would be surprising. what i would wonder is if the other teams are waiting there for them or not? would be tough to keep it quiet if they were.
-
What if the last clue doesn't say race to the finish line. It just says go to the pitstop and they don't know it's the finish line until they arrive. Now that would be a surprise!!
Past races knew when they got back in the states it was the finish but that's not the case in family edition.
-
Maybe Jeff Probst is standing in for Phil? >*&
no really I think its like TAR7 ( my fav) when Rob & Amber arrived at the pitstop & Phil handed them the clue to continue...
-
Maybe Jeff Probst is standing in for Phil? >*&
no really I think its like TAR7 ( my fav) when Rob & Amber arrived at the pitstop & Phil handed them the clue to continue...
That's what I had at first but didn't someone confirm this the finale?

CBS has not released the press release for the Finale yet ..I think it should be soon cause they just released Survivor11's on DEC 11th :t-up:

The people at TWOP are investing in 13 Dec as a finale date: they've already booked Planet Hollywood in Times Square.
-
On the contest rules for the CBS Amazing Race Fantasy Challenge it states the finale as December 13th. It also doesn't sound like a double episode.
Game begins at the start of Episode 4 of Amazing Race 8 currently scheduled for 9:00 PM ET on 10/18/05 and ends at approximately 10:00 PM ET on 12/13/05 or with the conclusion of the East Coast broadcast of the final episode of Amazing Race 8 whichever occurs first.

Good catch Sups {| . Are you playing the fantasy? We gave up when we realized we have no BP's or Arcos in the Northeast, well our area anyway .
I'm not playing, I was just snooping around the site looking for any info or clues. I don't have any BP's in my area either. Ya think it will be just 1 hour and they'll have the 4th team elimination at the end of the Dec. 6 show?
-
that would be my educated guess Sups , final leg 3 teams ..one or 2 hours ? not sure untill CBS releases the facts (::) " should " be any day now .
-
Has anyone determined if the Dec 13 finale is 2-hours? If so, that makes it more likely that tomorrow (11/29) will be a "to be continued" surprise on the mat, with the next and last elimination on Dec. 6 before the final 3 teams race to the finish. There may still be a non-elimination at the end of the next-to-last leg, as Uchenna and Joyce can attest.
-
rmax , CBS has not released the finale details yet ....waiting and waiting :ballX:
Id say were 99.9% sure tomorrow is a to be cont ..with that we may only need to find out who comes in first for the MW game ..like TAR 7 all we saw were Rob & Amber at the mat then the Phil famous eyebrow .
-
I really wish there were more non elims/TBS when there were 7 or 6 teams left its been what after tomorrow 3 weeks since a team has been eliminated thats almost a month! wait waiting to next week will make it 4 weeks that is a month! I really dont think this race was planned out to well.
