Title: TAR 23 East Coast EP 4 SHOW updates and commentary **Please read the rules**

IMPORTANT! Even though we are a spoiler board, we do NOT want to have the episode spoiled while it is airing.

This will be more important than ever this season since Canada will be airing ahead of us any week we have Sports delays.

SO!! If you are watching anything but an EST US feed, it is your responsibility to be sure you are not ahead of us if you want to post/update in this thread. Other feeds may be way ahead of us.

SO PLEASE ** NO OUTCOMES ** to be posted before the show is done airing East Coast time!

Anyone breaking the rule is at risk of being banned. :browsie:

And NO future spoilers either! And NO spoilers ever in the Contestant threads either.

Otherwise, come watch with us for the best weekly viewing party in town!! :party:

That is NOT on time, 60 min is a7PM start and TAR is an 8PM start normally. Looks like we are looking at a 42 minute delay.

Maybe your local market had the third game that must have ended later, and only those markets may be the ones having a later start.

Jason & Amy depart at 11:14 PM. Amy says that Nicole & Travis are like mini mentors.

Nicole & Travis arrive at a flight agent. 8:55 AM is the first flight. Jason & Amy arrive to the flight agent too. 8:55 AM is the only flight so everyone is going to be on it...

Everyone is going to be on the same flight for the first time this race!

In Bodo, Norway, all teams will be on the same ferry. Ally & Ashley: "My face is frozen." "My knees are cold." Ally or Ashley have a funny confessional.

Brandon & Adam like doing outdoorsy things. And they like their beards.

Marie doesn't plan on giving away the EP until the end of the 5th leg. Afghanimals won't get it. Ice girls won't get it. Marie thought about giving it to Travis & Nicole...

Teams are on the ferry blowing in the wind! Yay.

The ferry docks past 11 PM!

Detour: Hang Your Heads or Hammer of the Cods
Hang Your Heads: String together 10 bundles of 6 fish heads each. Transport the bundles with wheelbarrows, then hang the bundles on drying racks.
Hammer of the Cods: Collect 15 pairs of cod from the 30 foot high drying racks. Then hammer them to make 1 kilo of fish turkey without the bones.

Tim & Marie arrive at the fish factory first. It's really gross... Just a bunch of cod heads...

Jason & Amy get a cab. Afghanimals and ice girls are walking. Amy calls the Afghanimals "ass-animals." :lol:

Marie miscounted the fish heads... They used 8 heads. Apparently Amy helped Marie... Amy tells Nicole & Travis it's 6 strings of 10 heads.

Leo & Jamal: "The closest thing I get to water is a shower." :lol:

Ally & Ashley are not liking it too much.

Tim & Danny and Nicky & Kim are doing hammer.

Travis can't run with his shoes. Afghanimals have a flat wheelbarrow wheel. Ally & Ashley finish bundling the fish.

Afghanimals are having a lot of trouble because of their flat wheelbarrow wheel...

Jason & Amy arrive at the drying racks. HAHAHAHA TIM & MARIE GET REJECTED. STOP AMY STOP HELPING THEM.

Brandon & Adam see the flag marked pole and they start loading.

HAHAHAHA JASON & AMY ARE OUT OF THE DETOUR IN 1ST. Proceed to Henningsvaer. Brandon & Adam finish the detour in 2nd. Marie is getting pretty crazy... :lol: Brandon & Adam leave them. "I don't need your damn Express Pass!"

MARIE IS SO MAD. I LOVE THIS. Brandon & Adam start mocking them. :lol:

Brandon & Adam get off the boat first. Roadblock: Who's the biggest swinger?
Roadblock: Bungee jump off a bridge. Once they're ready, unclip and plunge into the Arctic ocean. Then swim to their next clue.

Tim & Marie and Nicole & Travis and Ally & Ashley all get their roadblock clues. Afghanimals get it too.

Brandon is doing the roadblock. Brandon & Adam used to jump off bridges and hang off of them when they were kids... Okay. He jumps off and unclips. He starts swimming. "He can swim like a seal! Like a shark! LIKE A SEAL SHARK!"

Brandon & Adam are out of the roadblock in 1st. Proceed back to shore where they will go into a Ford Ranger. Then they will hook up their truck with a sled loaded up with a boulder. They have to pull it far enough to reveal their next clue and some coins, which they will need for later in the race.

Jason jumps off the bridge... and he's just swiming back and forth. The ball he needs to pull to unclip himself is too high...

Don't really care about her screwups it will make her even more hilarious/OTTNNNNNgoddess and frankly she made this season. <3

Also better for Timmarie to stuff up now than later in the race where it will be more costly.

Nicky & Kim are still dragging their cod... Nicky is a cod queen according to Kim. They're finally at the fish factory... omg LOL. KIM'S HAIR IS CAUGHT BY THE FISH. HAHAHAHA. :funny: They are too funny. They proceed to the hammering station. Tim & Danny are still there. Kim's so angry at the cod that she begins to take out her aggression on them.

Tim & Danny finish the detour in 7th.

Brandon & Adam have both been in construction so this task was easy for them...

Ally: "It's a weird feeling knowing your friend's jumping off a bridge..." LOL. Ally & Ashley are done the roadblock in 5th.

Tim & Danny arrive at the roadblock. Nicky & Kim are still doing the detour. Kim: "Does it look like I got stronger?" :lol:

Leo & Jamal are out of the detour in 6th.

Jason & Amy arrive at the Fords. Tim & Marie arrive. Jason's good with the chains because of his business. Marie says that neither her or Tim realize what they're doing... Jason & Amy move their rock sled far enough. Marie asks a question and Tim says yes a couple of times... Marie: STOP SAYING YES. :funny:

Jason & Amy are done the task. TIM & MARIE DIDN'T PICK UP THEIR CLUE.

Nicky & Kim arrive at the roadblock.

Nicole & Travis finish the rock task. Ally & Ashley and Afghanimals arrive. The trucks are stickshift and Ally & Ashley are about to back up into a ditch...

I like the Detour; it shows what the local working class is doing... although I feel that not pounding the fishes would make both Detour tasks more equal. The boat ride was splendid and the jump from the bridge was never meant to be exciting, but more of like ZOMG the teams are doing such fun and crazy stuff in Norway!

And then we have a product placement, which actually is decent and reveals a bag of coins (may be meant for Leg 5) as well as a map to the pit-stop! Awesome or what!

Loved that this whole episode teams were changing positions throughout as well. Tim and Marie were first, then fourth, then third, then fall behind again. Brandon and Adam were so consistent throughout! Jason and Amy are such a sweet team and helping out everyone (except Tim and Marie and Afghanimals/Ice Crew), NOBODY HELPING MARIE <3, Tim and Danny being positive, helping the Ice Crew girls! Leo and Jamal struggling... :funny: Ashley and Ally enjoying the leg and coping fairly well, Nicole I WANT THE EXPRESS PASS moment and finally, Nicky and Kim completely failing throughout the leg. :funny:

SO. MUCH. DRAMA. <333

Double U-TURN next week, more epic tasks and OMG producers are so evil! Making this a TBC will kill some of the weaker teams. :oh :stare They are literally racing from night till morning?? :iok

My first guess is that one of the female-female team or ass-animals used it to smoke out an Express Pass of a team, which is stupid, cause it's still leg 5 and it's safe to have a u-turn card in your back pocket, just in case another one pops out. An express is only valid until leg #8. Double u-turn popped out once in leg #10. Do the math!
Or, the trailing teams on the back of the pack used them on each other to avoid elimination.

Can't wait for Poland! When was the last time TAR went to Poland? or is it the 1st time?

The Detour was amazing, I like how both tasks were related to each other in the way though I kinda though the tasks were uneven seeing the difficulty Tim & Danny and Nicky & Kim experienced, but nonetheless, it was fantastic and exceeded my expectations!

The Roadblock was good as well and it was an activity I would like to try as well. :)

Last but not the least, the Ford Challenge task. I liked the way on how they incorporated the "advertisement" of the car with the actual task, and somehow it caused some placement changes within the teams.

The location of the Pit Stop was also great! :hrt:

As of now, I'm looking forward to watching the Poland leg and I hope it will reach my expectations especially since it was last visited 12 seasons ago! :o

I loved it too! I was saying to myself during the fish head task that I would have been singing the Fish Heads song while I worked, so it was nice to see it at the end. Surprising, since it's a rather obscure song.

Great episode. Interesting tasks and an interesting location. A fair amount of drama, but it was drama is a good way - an annoying team messing up and getting panicky beyond what the situation calls for. I can't imagine Tim and Marie hanging on to their express pass for more than the next couple of episodes. Any time a task stumps them for 5 minutes, they are ready to pull out the express pass.

My one quibble is that the fish heads vs. the Hammer of the Cods (cute name) tasks were really imbalanced (or appeared to be). The fish heads looked much faster and I'm surprised they didn't all do that one. However, the editing may have made the other task look longer than it really was. Or it may have been the two weaker teams attempting it.

One other thing I observed: the midnight sun made it almost impossible to tell how far ahead the first teams were from the later teams based on the quality of the daylight. That might have been the most interesting thing about the leg. I'm sure that holding the leg in the middle of the night cut down on observations from the local people. I do recall we had a few sightings though. I'll bet TPTB were happy when the ferry arrival time set that up.

-A "not-so-strong" team dominating the leg.
-The local time was shown after every commercial. :) It was great because we can see how long the teams were completing their tasks and how long the leg was, aside from showing us that it wasn't dark in the middle of the night. :)
-And most of all, the EP drama!!! :funny: It was so epic that I wish I have a short clip of that scene. :lol: At first I even thought that the 2nd express pass twist was lame, but after this episode, I wish the winner of the EP is a selfish team. :funny: The way Nicole explained it at the post-leg interview was amazingly perfect! :lol:

Tim & Marie. To me, it doesn't matter if it were another team, imo, it's sometimes fun seeing some teams fall from first to last in terms of careless mistakes. Also, it's not yet official that they're last, but assuming they need to go back and get the clue, they will fall behind (also assuming that the bunnies catch up). ;)

The NFL players probably landed in Lisbon at 23:15 which is after the first two teams started leg #4.

And since Phil did meet them at the airport it probably means that Phil had to be on the same flight as the teams to Oslo and Bodø. But then he probably cheated and flew into Solvaer on WF814 so he should have arrived at 18:01 which gives him about 5 hours lead on the teams to do his standups.
