Well its about time you came out to play :woohoo:
You MADE my day Wally :jumpy: :hearts: , now please please don't run away ...
Darn now I'm starstruck and forgot what I wanted to ask you :-[
"are you a whitesox fan or a cub fan? and if you are a whitesox fan do you have ESPN2 on right now?"
I am watching the game & a huge White Sox fan - my sons went to the game but left after the rain delay.
I enjoy chatting. Normally don't have much to add to the postings I read so I don't post much. If anyone has questions, etc. I'm glad to respond. You really are a great guy Wally :jumpy: , thanks you !!
Wally I don't know that we've asked you yet about the " mystery " Fast Forward at Volcan Poas , we all saw some of the teams with the Green Ticket in hand and we had a wild theory that the weather was too foggy for any of the teams to use it so it was never mentioned on the show , also we had a wild theory that your daughter Elizabeth had hurt her hand while doing the Fast Forward ( sorry about that ) . So what was the real deal ?
Hey, Wally....so good to have you with us! :hearts:
I am embarrassed to say that I've not listened to any of the podcasts yet... :-[
but I am curious about your family of 5. How old are the younger 2, and are they boys or girls? How did they feel about not being able to be on TAR8 with the rest of you?
Wow! Having Puddin as a guest interviewer? I'd be on that show in a minute.
1) What was the only leg where Lindsay was shown driving?
2) During which leg did Beth begin driving to the pit stop but you were the driver when your team arrived at the pit stop?
Do you have any stories behind the answers?
a bad Chris Farley impression
Rob and Trevor asked us RFF members for questions when they interviewed you back in December. One of mine that didn't get asked was about your daughters begging for money at the Casino in Arizona.
As you know, Bertram Van Muster was one of the producers for the Cops TV show. You lurking in the shadows while your girls were asking for money was classic Cops. How did you and your family react when you viewed that for the first time? I'm not saying you looked skeezy, but it was kind of funny. :lol3:
Ok, Ok. Another question, in honor of Danielle & Dani this season and of Rebecca Weaver during your season. Have your daughters ever come home with skunk hair?
All right, how about this? We are both too young to remember this first hand, but who were the Shortstop and Second Baseman double play combination of the 1959 GoGo White Sox?

Let's see. My girls are very particular about their hair so never anything crazy there.
The night with the begging for money was an exciting one for everyone watching, as it was two episodes - one with us coming in last and not being eliminated and the 2nd beating out the Paolo's at the Dam near the Grand Canyon. We all got a big kick out of the "Pimp Wally" edit to the show - Lindsay took one of the photoshop pictures of me and her with pimp & ho clothes on and uses it as her computer wallpaper.
Everyone knows that Luis Aparicio & Nellie Fox were the all-star short-2nd combination for the 59 Go-Go Sox.
I'm trying to work out the dates Wally ??? Leg 7 starts on Day 10 ( Nov 16th?) and were down to 6 teams , scheduling has TAR9 for 28 days ( in race days ) .
According to the futoncritic , that means 7 more episodes with 6 teams remaining ( 2 hour finale 3 or 4 teams ? its starting to look like TAR7& 8 with 3 teams for the finale )
So in the next 6 legs 3 teams should be eliminated to get to the 7th final leg of 3 teams ,Dec 3rd ibeing the finale in TAR days .
It isn't adding up  maybe we have another TBC/Superleg ? or I cant count .
Just basing it on TAR8, we had 10 teams one continuation and 3NEL. TAR9 started with the typical 11 teams so they could get by with just two NEL's with their one continuation and still make it work the same way.
I have no idea who the people on the boat were - they were on the boat when we got there. Don't know if they had a connection to the race or were just lucky tourists.
Of course i'm GREEN with envy !! We were speculating that the people on the whirlpool boats were brought in as decoys in and around Canada as well as the Falls .

I can't remember any specifics - the time from the finish of the race to when we left was a blur.
Most everyone ends up signing.
jeffreysg - the girls don't spend a lot of time online - I think they have a little bit more of a life than their dad.
Cinni - Beleive it or not, we did watch the mooning episode (Lauren's request)

Wally, what's your favorite episode of your season?
Sorry to jinx your Sox. I'm up here in the great Northwest this week and went to last night's Mariners/Sox game. I don't know why your team couldn't beat up on old Jamie Moyer. It's kind of like Fran and Barry actually winning a leg of the Race. :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3:
loved "every day" eddie's reaction after giving up the game tying hr to brian anderson in the top of the 9th with a 1-2 count
wally safco field is evil
FREE GAS FOR LIFE Wally  !? You could drive ? just joking .. maybe someday we could go together ? :-*
I'm sorry for flirting Wally , its just all that grey hair drives me crazy ..forgive me ..please

Wally, Puddin : Over at TarFlies, this was posted by Andrew of TAR?QuoteDid you know Elisabeths roommate is Sally on Survivor right now. Small world?
I don't watch Survivor, so, what's the scoop?
I guess it is a small world.
Sally's such a good girl and could hold her head up , she was an awesome player as well as loyal .
Sally's a very nice girl.
the one in the yellow dress
It's your thread so feel free to direct the topic in any way you see fit
I would love to go to the Survivor finale!! Hope she has fun :)
Where do you even get tickets for that???? Do you need to know someone that used to be on a reality tv show, that makes regular appearances on a reality tv podcast?? LOL
Rob
If I had anything on TAR9. you know I'd fill you in - unfortunately all I've heard is a bunch of 2nd hand stuff. Beth is going to NY for the Survivor finale this weekend so maybe she'll come back with a few tidbits.
Wally, In reviewing this season's race, I like to review a color coded race matrix that some fan draws up. It's really interesting and provides additonal insight into the race.
Have you ever seen your season's matrix?
The matrix can show where one decision can make a huge difference. For example, your decision in Charleston to go shrimping allowed you to go from next to last at the Gazebo to getting on the first bus to Huntsville. Which then led you to win the free gas and staying in the upper echelon of teams for the next few legs (until your debacle in Phoenix :groan:)

Where gator ? I'm looking but dont see it ?
the winning team was orange (Linz) and the second place team was grey (Branson). For the TAR9 chart, BJ/Tyler are team orange and Eric/Jeremy are team grey.
As we come down to the final leg, can you recall how you felt during the pitstop in Montana before your final leg?
The prohibition against begging in US airports is one that I remember as it was spoken about several times to us, so I would be surprised if they hadn't gone over it with them. I don't think there would be any problem with begging on the plane - it's really a good environment for it.
RJ is that the chair that you sitting on the edge of?
:lol3:
girls went out on a begging excursion with the Godlewski sisters - raised some money to use to buy sandwiches & ice cream. I, of course, kept my distance with the camera crew and let them go about their work.
She had a great time - got to meet most all of the cast and spent some time with Terry and Shane. She got Shane to call Lauren at about 2:30 am to say hi. Overall enjoyed the people and had a good experience.
You are going to scare this poor guy away.
Did she talk to Cirie?
QuoteYou are going to scare this poor guy away. How could little Pudin scare anyone? I'm just waiting to listed to her on the show with Rob and Trevor.
The teams have kept in touch, much more so when the race was being shown than after - mostly by e-mail but also in person when people are traveling. There were no Linz-Bransen romances - no matter what you may have heard about me and Megan.

Kogs - I was at the 20 run game - never saw anything like it - good fun.
Yes Puddin, the Paolos are good people.

Pedaler, I don't know if people have changed allegiances as much as the Sox fans are getting out and supporting the team - plus there isn't much interesting to write about for the Cubs.
I had given up on last nights game after watching it on and off, until my son called me up after the 9th inning grand slam. Unfortunately, I stayed up and watched the rest of it to its unsatisfying conclusion.

the busy time of year will soon be starting for you.
Quotethe busy time of year will soon be starting for you.
Uhh, I don't think so Wally. You wouldn't believe the amount of time and effort she's spent on BB.
I just hope the sweet Puddin returns to us and not her sourpuss twin ;)
:D <I'm smiling see ? :lol:Quotethe busy time of year will soon be starting for you.

Puddin has an evil twin? Interesting! Don't listen to them Wally  ! Survivor ? I think I'm liking the Asian team :jumpy:
What race is everyone going to be rooting for on Survivor?
Puddin has an evil twin? Interesting!
Well I'm going to put my money on the underdog - team Latino ... although half of them don't even look Hispanic. No , no they don't especially that Billy dude !!
Maybe Wally wants a RFF Amazing Race blog
Good to hear from you guys - just have been a little busy lately. And i've been thinking that if I disappear for a while I can start some all-star speculation for myself.drat! and double drat! so much for that great rumor.
be scared ..be very scared Wally !! :o

Careful. I'm getting into those dangerous heart attack years. your so funny..
I think I'll be there tomorrow night Kogs. We need to start hitting.
Did you watch All Stars Wally? if so what did you think? I was disappointed in the challenges ..they were more brains then brawn. Uchenna & Joyce thought this was done mainly for Charla because of her ummm short comings.

Yes, I watched the entire season and enjoyed it. I don't think the tasks were super hard but I think they compare pretty favorably with several of the other seasons. I think they inserted some mind challenges that were legitimately tough. I'm sure part of the reason to even out the tasks is the dominance of young, male teams in the race - there are enough other advantages for the most physically fit teams that maybe the thinking is to put a higher importance on the mental aspects. All of the long running between tasks, to detours, etc. (much of which you don't get a sense for by watching) is where the physically dominant teams get much of their advantage.
I wasn't very impressed with the end of the race - very contrived to assure a close finish, which I think isn't necessary. Overall, even though I would love to be on an all-star race, I don't think all-stars add much to the show. If the idea is to generate ratings I don't think it does much to accomplish that as the only people who are interested in prior teams would probably be watching anyway. As I've heard talk of getting teams with "known" team members, I think this could maybe get some ratings boost - not that it would be better racing.
I checked my tickets yesterday afternoon and realized that I had tickets for tonight and not last night (the mind is slipping as well as the body) - which worked out well allowing me to miss the rain delay cancellation and watch the Bulls.
the bulls where amazing last night!!!!!
