I would really like to ask everyone to take this opportunity to go over the TAR 22 threads and especially get re-familiar with the guidelines on LIVE postings.
Basically LIVE means you are the one bringing us NEW info. If your post incudes the words "I think" or "I guess" or any :wohoo: ...then you should be in SPEC.
CONFIRMED locations go in the LOCATION thread.
Now would be a VERY good chance to practice your twitter search skills!! ;)

It's not about the amazing race. It's about a french tv reality actually broadcast called "Ile des vérités (truth Island) " season 2 ( that's mean the #IDV2 ). The 2nd season is at Tahiti.

Some teams got bunched at Wellington Airport, New Zealand in order to get to Christchurch,
so we know that Auckland and Wellington are the two airports that divided the teams into two groups...

So waiting anxiously at the International Arrivals in AKL Auckland Airport, we saw teams arrive and immediately scramble for 'DOMESTIC TRANSFERS?!! CHRISTCHURCH :lol:' They came out in a few groups.
1st - Winnie and Cam - ran wrong way, then back, then other way again to go to Domestic terminal on other side of Airport in a separate building at AKL.
2nd - Joey and Meghan - he is rather camp, came out excitedly, and ran to Domestic terminal transfer
3rd - Chuck and Wynona - our Alabama team, came running out, she jumped for joy as the crowd cheered (wonderful people) more on them later.
4th - Unidentified team at LAX - Few photos floating around, he's either John or Walter I believe (I peeked at their tickets on the self-issue machine :O) and she's Jennifer I believe.
5th - The purple team, quite fit, he's very tanned and quite nice. This team and the 4th place came out some 5-10 mins later.
6th - Elizabeth and Mona? - red-maroon team from LAX, booked flights with Walter and Jennifer (may be wrong names :P)
7th - Justin and ? - dudes-red team from LAX, fit and really fast, but got into some trouble when they reached the domestic terminal as well as the blondes
8th - Blondes - I said good luck to them and they said a quick thanks - in the domestic terminal they frantically asked where gate 11 was...I told them there was no gate 11 in the terminal :P haha.
9th - Big shock. Father / Son team (yellow bandanas) came out, father being wheelchaired by son, with a moon boot on, they ran straight to Domestic without stopping at the transfer but once at the terminal they were given seats up the front (guess there is some benefits :P)
Leaving our Doctor Twins and Firefighting Men as the first two out, and our parent child team going out the door it seems (may be three all male teams out straight away :O)
Anyway, once in to the domestic terminal we saw teams getting flights, Chuck and Wynona on a phone and later we chatted to a few people and learnt:
- 2 legs in Bora Bora / Tahiti
- Got a blessing in Tahiti for good luck
- Swam with sharks
- Father hurt himself racing to pitstop in a cart?! May have run over foot?? Needs surgery (on his way out)...
- Christchurch Rakaia Gorge Bridge (overnight stop?)
and learnt of Chuck and Wynona McCall, age 46 and 49 from Alabama Can't say more, but I may be on the telly box...nuff said ;)
Oooooh and I read the clue: 'fly to phil's hometown of Christchurch, New Zealand. Once there, drive yourselves to Rakaia Gorge Bridge to recieve your next clue.. and saw the immense additional info :O

American Amazing Race comes to town
The Amazing Race has hit Mid Canterbury.
Teams in the American version of television’s million dollar race around the world were spotted near Methven this morning taking part in a rural themed challenge at Mount Hutt Station before heading to Terrace Downs.
It’s understood the teams arrived last night and may have camped at the Rakaia Gorge overnight before jet boating on the Rakaia River early this morning.
Teams were last seen driving north through Windwhistle.
There's a picture with the story, but it doesn't show too much. It's a car with the cameraman in the front passenger seat, the sound guy in the back seat and a man driving. You can't see the other teammate.
This agrees well with what we know since I believe KiwiJay said they were headed for the Rakaia Gorge Bridge. Rapppel or bungy to the campsite?
Those locations are in a fairly small radius (5-10 miles?), so it seems reasonable. It looks like an area with scenic Alp like mountains and quite a bit of farming. There are several resorts in the area.

The Amazing Race (US) maybe on its way to Australia for a leg on the next season.
Diehard fans at realityfanforum are reporting contestants racing through New Zealand, with plenty of photographic evidence (warning: spoiler alert). GuardianOnline has also reported a visit to Christchurch, Phil Keoghan’s hometown, hit hard by earthquakes and a tourism downturn.
But there is also speculation racers are now Australia-bound, with talk of flights either Brisbane NZ805 (Arr: Bris: 4:30pm) or Melbourne NZ7911 (Arr: Melb: 5:50pm)
It wouldn’t be the first time TAR has raced through Australia, although so far Melbourne has missed out on a leg.
If you spy anything, just raise an eyebrow, Keoghan-like, and pass on any photos to you know where...
Little bit more confirmation of Australia? :duno:

Hello there, everyone!
I've been gone a while, but I come bearing gifts from Tullamarine! (Though sadly, not the rest of Melbourne (:;) )
We only ran into two teams at the airport, but we did what we could with what we had to work with, including some nice photos:
First, we have the father & son team of which one is currently wheelchair bound. We had a chat to these two, really nice guys. They're from Utah, and we had a nice talk about the Grand Canyon and Four Corners, because I saw both those things when I went to Arizona last year. They were going to Perth on a Qantas flight. When we asked them where they were headed, they said Bali, then asked us a few questions about it, mostly to do with if they'd accept US currency. I told them not to wave any amount of money around or they'd be swarmed by people trying to sell them stuff (Which my brother swears is true)
When we mentioned the two girls (Coming soon!) being on a flight that got delayed by a few hours, their faces lit up, until we told them the new departure time (9:25 PM). The way they acted after that, including muttering "They'll get on anyway" leads me to believe they were both catching the same flight in Perth to get to Bali.

Now, we move onto the girls!
The girls were a lot harder to talk to. They didn't give away much of anything, except that they were American and on a travel documentary. When it became obvious we weren't going to get much from them, we decided to go exploring the airport and wished them luck (They were under the impression that we were on their flight. I secretly hope they are wondering where me and Raff went, because we didn't get on the plane.)

For the record, the bag with Winnie on it belonged to the girl sitting on the right in most of the photos. Raff saw something written on the other girls bandanna, possibly EM, but I couldn't get an angle on it for a photo.

Bullet point notes for the day:
-The guys are from Utah, and are father and son (The father used the term "me and my son" while the son was away and we were chatting.)
-The father tore his achillies tendon and calf muscle in a footrace in Bora Bora (Paraphrasing 'We were in a footrace in sand with these other people, and we thought we could get them, but then my achillies popped and my calf popped')
-They were flying out to Perth on a Qantas flight, departing from Gate 11 from the Qantas/Jetstar terminal
-They mentioned they were heading to Bali
-The girls were exceptionally well prepared with ration packs, electrolyte replacement pills, vitamins and all sorts of other health and wellbeing related items. Their shoes were wet, though, which is why they were wearing thongs the entire time.
-The girls mentioned (overheard by us) that they were just ahead of the hockey players
-The girls were flying to Perth from gate 12 from Terminal 3. Their flight was delayed and pushed back to (we believe) 9:25 PM
-The guys were relieved when they learned the girls flight was delayed, but came back down when they realised the girls would still catch up in Perth
-While I'm not certain on flight times, going from Christchurch to Bali via Melbourne and Perth seems like it would intuitively be a worse flight than options from Melbourne direct, Sydney or Brisbane. Thus I believe these two teams are battling for last (Pending a potential HoO bunching.)
-Photobucket can go die for not displaying the pictures right. I rotated them and everything, so they show up on my PC fine.
-Thanks to my friend BP for alerting me to the TAR teams on her flight, and thanks to my friend Raff for coming along to help, and having the ability to strike up a conversation with anybody and as it turns out, including American teams of two who are backpacking around the world for a "travel documentary"

Arrived first on Qantas QF653 ~9:30pm
They were in no rush, very casual. They and crew had checked baggage so had to wait around. Even after collecting bags stood around for another 5 minutes. I guess their flight to Bali was still hours away. No filming was done.
Father? seemed to struggle on the crutches, was in the wheelchair most of the time.
They eventually left the terminal to get the shuttle bus to the International terminal

Were in a little bit more of a rush, sniffer dog was very interested in the camera man :)
A few scenes were filmed as they walked to the other end of the terminal, and the sound guy was asking about something at the lost baggage counter.

Oh.My.Gosh! What are the odds of being in Bora Bora and the tv show "The Amazing Race" coming through for a task and their overnight pit stop? They did something with jet ski's and snorkeling. Didn't see Phil. We sat next to 2 of the camera men at breakfast too and they were tight lipped, but it wasn't hard to figure out! Lots of excitement on this tiny island!

here comes the second team out of the door, the infamous not-asian F/F team, Winnie and Cam, they're out not long after the father/son, approx. 6.18PM, followed by their cameraman..
the two teams were headed Left onto the escalator, which will take them to the domestic terminal, but first, they gathered in some point (which where our other friend, loseaguy, took his role here.. listening to the conversation), but we'll get back to this shortly.. ;)
oh! I also got to tell you when these two teams passed by us... we were like... whaaattt?? heyy.... where's those panicking.. running.. rushing.. loud-shouting.. atmosphere that we're expecting to be happen as soon as they're out of the door... :o :gaah: :duno: :(

now.. move on to loaseaguy's story.. he told me to just go ahead tell the forum, as he's kinda a bit sad knowing the fact that teams are not racing in melbourne :(
here's where the two teams went after exiting the arrival door :

So as he standing at the opposite end of the door (there are two doors, me-coutzy-and raff were at the right end, and loseaguy on the left end),
he was trying to catch the conversation between these two teams, one thing that he's learned is that Winnie and Cam speak about getting on the second place at the last pit stop, and is this a sign that teams didn't really know their rival's position until they meet each other at the later times? :duno:
and also they were wondering around about the remaining teams, what flight they're on, where's the connection point, maybe they didn't notice the other teams because they were on the LEAD! :ascared
that's about all that loseaguy remember...

Utah father/son team separated with Winnie & Cam when they reached the second floor (Departure Terminal)
me and loseaguy were following father/son going to Qantas domestic, while coutzy and his friend followed winnie and cam, going to Virgin Airlines domestic.
on the above pictures, you can see father/son trying to get through the security checkpoint, and as he put all the bags and their belonging, and the son almost enter the body-censor thingy, one of the guard stopped them and escorted them to the special lane, i don't know if this has gotta do with the father's moon boot or what ??? :duno:

I was in uluwatu today checking out a surf spot and ran into the cast of the amazing race. They were filming the end to one of the segments. ( I don't watch the show) but these girls kept running up and down the stairs from the beach to the top of the cliff. with a surf board followed by a camera crew. Pretty cool.

Alright, so the above itinerary is just a temporary only, the task and description below is what the detective team saw and observed. Please bear in mind that our on the ground team is not in their best shape because some of them just barely finished their overnight work (haven't sleep at all) and some of them are catching up after school.
PART.I (Airport scene & Detour)
As we know from the previous live sightings and travel information that Coutzy, Peach, Leafsfan and Neobie provided, I directly contacted friends and relatives in Indonesia, specifically Bali to ask for some help, and very fortunate some of them are willing and eager to help as they are a die-hard fans of TAR.
08.37 AM
ND arrived at the airport and directly run towards the international arrival terminal. When he entered the terminal, he saw the announcement board that Indonesia-Air Asia Flight from Perth has landed.
In a very quick time, 5 minutes later, comes the most-awaited moment of truth, teams run out of the door and rushing to the taxi queue,
The first team out the door was Winnie and Cam (not-asian), and then behind them was Utah Father/Son, and there's the third team (which I really shocked how on earth they catch up the flight :ascared) was the M/F team (not-sure speculated florida team by Kandace (male green shoes)

ND straight away following the M/F team, but unfortunately the distance between his motorcycle park from the international terminal is too far away, so he lost them... :(
Feel frustrated because he lost the track, he try to go away from the airport and decided to drive around the famous tourist location, Kuta beach, but they're none... he's driving again, and this time try to pass the Bali Bombing Monument in Legian (hoping that teams are gonna give a sympathy of some sort for the victims), but they're none... so he's now decide to go back to the airport, with a hope that the second flight will arrive shortly.
9.30 AM
ND back to the airport, but this time he's got a good strategy, he's not parking his bike at the parking lot anymore, but instead he waited on his bike at the exit gate of the car park, so that he can directly follow the taxi from behind.
11.00AM
...and he still waiting... and seconds later, finally there's a taxi with one team but he's not able to see because the taxi's passanger window was pitch black. He drives for his life, but then again... he stuck at the redlight and lost thier track... damn... :groan:
ND's feeling is not friendly anymore :gaah:, he's on fire now, he waited at the traffic lights, the intersection where he lose the previous team, because he's certain that there's another team behind and might be went to the same direction..
Finally, one taxi passed by with a team and the crew inside, now he's back in it, back on track :yess: ,
ND is having a thought that they're going to Ubud, Gianyar regency, and bingo!, they're heading there..
The team that he followed was Joey and Meghan.
The fact is, their taxi lost direction several times, and finally J&M arrived in front of a gallery in Ubud (Kenanga Terracotta). Approx. 10 minutes later, they continue their journey to the Monkey Forest and Sanctuary for the Detour. Here, ND snapped several pictures..

Amazing race through Mid Canterbury
Mid Canterbury is set to feature on television screens around the world after award winning television series The Amazing Race stopped off in the district yesterday.
Details of what exactly the race contestants did while in Mid Canterbury were being kept firmly under wraps by those in the know yesterday, but the Guardian understands teams were seen camping in the Rakaia Gorge area on Sunday night.
They were then seen jet boating in the Rakaia River yesterday morning, before heading to Mount Hutt Station where they appeared to take part . . .

the adventure continues...
in about 15 minutes time, Joey and Meghan done their task, unfortunately he can't see what's inside because there's a prohibition signs... but don't worry, we have some pictures with Phil and the clue box inside the monkey forest when Ovalorange got the permission from the poster.
ND try to follow J&M's taxi, but after a few miles, he then again stucked by the traffic lights and lost them... :'(
ND sent me a text message and asking for information, and I gave him the tweet that Alenaveda posted about the possiblity of teams sighted at Uluwatu Beach.. Go to uluwatu champ!! :hoot:
The distacne between Monkey Forest to Uluwatu Beach is approx. 2 hours driving (by car), and just to make things more intense, with the temparature almost reached 43 degree Celcius, driving a motorcycle without roof, it was HOT and humid tropical sweating... Poor ND hasn't got a sleep, starving, and sweatening but I keep motivate him to not give up (even though sounds a bit evil-ish) come on! you can do it :hoot:
3.00 PM
He arrived at Uluwatu, and finally saw some teams doing their Roadblock task.
By the time he arrived there,
- Utah Father/Son
- Alabama Chuck & Wynona
- Light blue Blonde F/F team,
and several others... (he can't recognize them perfectly because they were seen individually doing the roadblock)
and he try to find out where's the other partner was waiting, but he can't, so he stayed there for the duration of the roadblock...
The roadblock task is something to do with the surf boards...
First, teams must find this surf shop :

when they did, they must search among the surfing boards for a specific type of board (or with a specific mark on it) and bring it down to the beach and do something with it (which ND can't really see... again, security issue.. (:;) )

Can I just throw it out there that those photos show both the Hockey guys (bottom right - you can see Bates / Jonathan) and the Florida M/F (team purple) still in the race, whereas the Indonesia analysis stated that a team was eliminated and it was between these two. In fact 5 teams are in that photo, and backpacks that I recognise from a sixth I believe.

Okay guys, let's use some sense! Teams are not going to be actively racing in Hanoi then suddenly turn up in So Africa a couple of hours later, think of the flight times. Remember that TAR Norway 2 is running also.

TAR Ukraine will be starting 11/25 in Sofia Square.
So take those into consideration for sightings!
Also: Hanoi MAY well have been two legs, They could be setting off again in a matter of hours, PLEASE watch media closely for the next 12 hours or so!

Flying from HKG to JNB at 550 MPH steady, turns out to be 11 hours and 57 minutes of strictly airborne flight time.

The person making the sighting doesn't mention where he saw them, but his other tweets do mention Maun, so the second person's assumption that the sighting was in Maun seems reasonable.
I was thinking they would have had charter flights to get to Maun, but a little research shows 2 flights daily from Johannesburg to Maun. One arrives at 1:20 PM and the other at 1:25 PM. That is about 2 hours ago, so it fits. The flight from Hong Kong to Johannesburg arrived about 4 hours before the 11:40 AM and 11:45 AM departures, so that fits as well.
I was leaning towards this being TAR Norway, but the flights fits so well, I'm now thinking it's 50-50 as to whether it's TAR 22 or TAR Norway.
A little research shows a number of safari outfits and game reserves in the Maun area, so I'm thinking that will be involved.

Kapana is grilled meat served with a tomato, onion, chili and spice sauce and fried bread called fat cakes. It is popular and sold by street vendors in Namibia.
It seems a bit early for TAR to have gone from Botswana to Namibia, but it is possible. It could also be that TAR Norway in one of the sightings from the last 2 days and TAR 22 is in the other one. At this point, there's no clues as to which is which. My attempts to contact people have been ignored so far.
Update: This sighting was of TAR Norway 2.

I'm pretty sure 4 teams of the Amazing Race were just on our same flight from Bali to Kuala Lumpur... I can't really translate this on Google, but it does appear to be mostly English, so I can figure most of it out. It appears that the person saw or was told about TAR in Maun, Botswana. Friend 1 asked where and the reply was MUB, the airport code for Maun, Botswana. Friend 2 seems to be asking what version and the answer was the version shown on SABC 3, which I believe is the South African TV network. SABC has been showing an earlier season of the American TAR lately from the tweets I've seen over the past couple of months. I doubt they have shown TAR Norway. Assuming that the person can tell the difference between Americans speaking English and Norwegians speaking English, I think this points towards TAR 22 being in Botswana and not TAR Norway. It's not anywhere close to conclusive proof, but it's a little more than we knew up until now.

...the short flight from Jo’burg to Botswana had contestants and camera crew for The Amazing Race season 22 in the front few rows. We all talked to the contestants and although they weren't supposed to say anything they gave us enough clues to work out what was going on. I gave the couple next to me some cash as they were pretty short, and XXXXX helped the girls sitting next to him with detailed instructions for where to go as soon as they got off the plane. We watched them all line up on the runway and then run off, but of course saw them again three minutes later at the queue for immigration....

OK, I did some more digging and found a few Facebook sightings from Maun, Botswana. I'm convinced now that some version of TAR was there for the last few days. I'm also thinking it's very likely that it's TAR 22 and not TAR Norway, but no one has quite spelled it out. I'm thinking that it would have been mentioned if they were speaking Norwegian and I'm guessing the Norwegian version doesn't have the budget for the Hummer mentioned below.

I'm guessing the Hummer was brought in to move equipment around the area, which is a swampy river delta region.
I checked out Mokoro Station and it seems to be the starting point for dugout canoe tours of the shallow waterways of the Okavango River Delta. Here's a couple of links to pictures of Mokoro canoes. The second was taken earlier today, but doesn't appear to be TAR related.

From reading a couple of blogs, they may see herds of elephants, hippoes, giraffe, zebras, kudus, antelopes, and buffaloes. Should be very scenic.
Also, in a moment of extreme synchronicity, Google maps announced a few hours ago that street level mapping of Botswana is now on line, including the Okavango River Delta where TAR 22 was seen.

I thought I saw an Amazing Race team on Monday in Edinburgh. I actually just joined this forum just to see if anyone else had seen teams there as well.
The details.
My wife, our two boys, and my in-laws were checking out of our hotel to catch the 17:00 train to London.
We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Cowgate. We were walking out of the door around 16:00.
As we were all getting outside we noticed a bright light 10 yards away. There was a 2-man camera crew filming two people walking into the hotel. They went inside to ask the person at the desk something. The film crew stayed outside. From what I remember one of the persons was a blonde woman. In her 20's I think with a fair bit of makeup. I think the other person was a blonde woman as well, but to be honest they walked by us before I noticed that they were the focus of the film crew so the other could have been a bald man from what I remember!
What made me think they were Racers?
It was two people and a film crew of two.
They exited a brand new silver Ford hatchback. (Ford is the usual make for the races, yes?)
The Ford had a small yellow-red-yellow flag stuck on the inside on the windshield. Just like a little Amazing Race symbol.
They went into a Holiday Inn Express to ask directions. (Americans looking for something familiar?)
I asked one of the film crew if they were filming for the Amazing Race.
One replied, in an American accent, that they "wished" they were filming the Race, but they were filming some other "copy-cat" show.
I left it at that, wished the crew luck, and we headed off to Waverly station to catch our train.
I thought maybe I should get a photo of the team/crew/car, but then I thought better of it and just let them run the race if that's what was going on.
Did we see the Amazing Race? I suppose we'll have to wait to see if we're all on camera next season!

It may have been doofus that sent me the tweets.
If they were driving, they may have been heading for the Royal Yacht Britannia, the zoo or the Forth Road Bridge (for views over to the Forth Rail Bridge).
If they were in the Cowgate, they could have been looking for Holyrood (Scottish Parliment), Our Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Palace (Queen's offical residence in Scotland), Grayfrier's Kirkyard (home of Greyfrier's Bobby), Scott's Monument (dedicated to Sir Walter Scott) or the Castle (although you really can't miss that).
I've attached a map highlighting the places above (this is where I concentrated looking last night seeing as I didn't have much to go on, but that they were probably in Edinburgh city centre) and the Royal Mile.

South Africa will be a busy jetsetting place in 2013 for one global reality show in particular.

Spotted the Amazing Race team filming in Edinburgh, Scotland yesterday. Asked them what was going on, they told me they were guarding a Christmas tree!
Here was a reply from a friend that asked what they saw:
Saw one contestant in a post office getting directions, definitely American, saw the 'clue tags' pinned to a post in the Royal Mile and spotted the camera crew chasing a contestant down the street near the National Museum. We don't have this show in the UK but I saw it won an Emmy and started to follow the current series online and now I'm hooked.

Hey all,
Long time lurker on the board but now I finally have something to post/add to the conversation. I'm a huge Amazing Race fan and, when hearing here that DC was the final destination city, I took an extra hour for lunch from work in DC and checked out the filming in and around town.
Amazing experience, and topped it off with being right next to clue box while teams ran into a challenge at Nationals Park and spotted Phil leaving for a standup/shoot.
Quick summary:
-Saw four teams, including hockey players (who seemed to be slowly going about things from the challenge to their cab, which makes me think they were decoys..more below), pink female/female (from my glimpse, Elizabeth and Mona, who were in a rush at the Roadblock and hailing a cab) and the male/female (the team discussed as maybe Jaclyn and Jarrod, hurting to hail a cab along the Tidal Basin) as well as a female pink team (I think from posts it would be Jennifer Wayne, who seemed to be taking her time talking to the camera crew during the Roadblock)
-Roadblock: Teams raced from previous location (unknown to me, but rumored to be downtown/Old Post Office Pavilion) to Tidal Basin for Switchback of the Family Edition DC Roadblock in that they had to find a spie amongst 100s around the Basin to whisper a phrase and exchange briefcases. Teams ran into the Jefferson Memorial and then team member ran to find their spy. I counted/encountered about 150 spies wandering the Basin, and saw the pink team rush out with camera in toe to find their spie. I have one picture of the lone pink team being filmed, but they again seemed to be taking their time with production and not racing. After circling around, Mona and Elizabeth were trying hard to hail a cab in the worst spot along the Basin to catch one (and didn't hear me offering to help from my car) and about 10 feet away Jaclyn/Jarod were trying hard as well. Seemed these two teams were in a dead heat and trying in the same spot for cabs and were holding clue envelopes. This location was not too tourist filled, but there was a large contingent of production cars, tents and crew along with circling helicopter. Additionally, passed a few towncars that had race flags on the front bumpers like flags that are usually utilized by cars carrying diplomats (think the motorcade and the little flags on the front ends of the hood). Not sure if this was the transportation from Dulles to Roadblock or from elsewhere.
-Nats Park (either a Detour or challenge task): I saw Phil here early on walking to production cars to head out. Setup, with crew members, were rigging leading from outfield plaza in left center to the top of the highest point of park across the outfield above first base. From my two vantage points (I have a few pictures), teams started in the plaza and had to work their way up (by winch, hand crank, I don't know) up to the top, get a clue and then exited front of park. After seeing the Roadblock, I came back to Nats Park and clue box was set up at main gate and the hockey team ran out slowly, carrying their briefcase and leaving their camer and sound guy far behind, to their cab and hopped in to head out. One of them commented "It was snug in that thing". Again, they were running slow but they were the only team there at that time, and I knew that the other two teams were still back at the Roadblock. Perhaps they knew they had a lead? Production car followed them out of the park and onto the next destination.
I didn't hear any clues as to finish line, but from the earlier tweet, and time of year, Mt. Vernon Estate (George Washington's home and estate) would fit perfectly, as it's secluded, down an access road and usually quiet this time of year.
I have multiple pictures on my phone (some good, some not great due to trying to shoot pictures and driving) that I can't upload until I get home (or Peach, can you pull from my Twitter or if I post to facebook?). Needless to say, it was awesome seeing this in action.

Nice job....man, I live so close to Nationals Park and had I known (and I admit, I hadn't checked this board in months), I would have took today off and played around in DC. I drove by Nationals Park late afternoon, there were a bunch of seats covered up but that is all I could see for certain. The way the stadium is designed, you can see some things but nothing on the field without being inside the stadium. There is a garage next to the stadium but that was gated off (that would have been the best vantage point because of how high it is). Funny how they used the Tidal Basin (it's about 50 degrees in DC today) for a task from the family edition too. The clue box would have been cool to see.

stroche -- I was on the ground in DC today too, but didn't get nearly as much (good) information as you got. I can fill in the blanks on the Old Post Office, though.
After scoping out Lincoln, Vietnam, World War I and other monuments on the west side of the Mall from about 11 am on looking for production or other clues (and finding naught), literally stumbled into a team over by the Martin Luther King Memorial at a little after noon. Two women, brunettes, wearing red fleece jackets, with film crew. They seemed to be working on some clue that had something to do with MLK. No production folks at the site, though. They talked to a memorial docent, who told them the only other MLK-related things he could think of were the MLK library (highly unlikely, it's an ugly 70's glass building in a high-traffic part of town) or an inscription on the stairs of the Lincoln Memorial where MLK gave his "I Had a Dream" speech. He was under the impression the girls would head to the Lincoln Memorial. I talked to their cab driver, who said the girls had told him not to wait as they didn't know how long they would be. That could have caused them a problem. FWIW, he really liked them, so they must not have been too assy.
A set of guys were there as well, but I only saw them from afar, as I was talking to their cab driver, who had been asked to wait. He described one of them as having longish blond hair, had no description of the other. Just then, the guys popped out at the end of the block and waved him down, so he sped away from me to get them. Saw another guy there with shortish brown hair, but didn't see them from the front. Tried to follow their cab, but they got away from me. :furious:
Went back to the Lincoln but found no teams and no production. The whole MLK thing must have been either a bad misreading of a clue or a decoy route.
Got a tip that there was a road closure over by the Smithsonian Museum of American History, so headed there. Turned out that the racers went to the nearby Old Post Office. I got there about 10 minutes after they left, no production in sight. There, they had to get their clue in a souvenir shop after having their picture taken with a cardboard Obama. The shop keeper told me that three teams came for clues, all within about 5-10 minutes of each other. All of them asked for directions to the Tidal Basin. I was told that blondes in pink were there. Unfortunately, I had to give up the chase at that point and return to life. :tantrum So
As an aside, the Old Post Office seemed an odd choice. Inside there's nothing but a food court and a few small, tacky shops. There's a gubbmint agency on the top floors, so you can't get in without a full security check (x ray machine for jackets and packages, metal detector to enter). Maybe CBS got that waived.
Got a couple of pics, but they're either too blurry or too far away to be of use. I'll post 'em anyway once I get them off my camera.
Sorry I couldn't get more, but it was fun to run along, and I don't expect TAR to come back to DC anytime soon. Thanks for launching me on this quest, Peach!

Going through customs and retrieving our luggage was easy; the wait for our next flight wasn't such a breeze. Apparently, they were taping the Amazing Race and the camera crew, sound guys and contestants were completely obnoxious. The flight to Vaitape was nice. Make sure you sit on the right side of the plane-you will have an amazing aerial view of Bora Bora. Before the plane even opened the cabin door, there were additional film crews waiting outside. We sat patiently and watched as the contestants pushed their way out of the cabin door and took off running to get their luggage

It looks like the Roller Derby Girls at a small booth decorated in Red, White and Blue bunting. It has among other things, a couple of monitors and a framed picture of President Obama. From other descriptions, I think this was taken at the Old Post Office building yesterday. I don't see any cameras, so that may mean the Roller Derby Girls were decoys.

To add detail and notes to my photos and adventure yesterday.
-this was the final destination city....awesome choice although it was 50 degrees chilly and grey out which is typical dc winter weather.
-per the info found here, appears teams arrived via international terminal at Dulles.
-I saw three teams. Earlier I stated four but upon review, and having a chance to calm down from the excitement, it was three. All three didn't appear to be decoys and are as follows:
1)male/female team earlier noted to be the team possibly Jaclyn/Jarod. The earlier shot posted here of this team helped me ID them as he was wearing very similar outfit to that shot/bright green running sneakers.
2)pink team I can verify was the grapplers Elizabeth and Mona.
3)male/male hockey players, who were in a lead based on my timing
Locations I saw were between 12 noon and 1:15 pm at Nationals Park (clue box and challenge rigging as noted earlier in my post and seen in my shots) and Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial (Part of the larger West and East Potomac Park off the National Mall). The sequence of my shots, since they were out of order, was Nationals Park (from 12-12:35ish with shots of rigging, gates and Phil & steady cam) then Tidal Basin (12:40-1ish with shots of Roadblock with spies, teams running around with briefcases and teams attempting to hail a cab after getting clue) and then back to Nats Park (1-1:15 for shots of clue box and hockey players jumping into cab following challenge).
Some notes about what I saw/clarify now that you see the shots:
-I noted the rigging for the challenge seemed to have teams manually ascend up the rigging from the outfield plaza to the top of the stadium. I didn't see it in action however the rigging and harnesses were set up in the plaza but it could have been for Phil's standup when i saw them there (notice in the shots through the gate you can see the truss and all on the outfield plaza but mats set up in front to perhaps stop a descent of a team member as if a zip line). I didn't see the hockey players complete this but did hear one say it was snug up in there as they ran out.
-hockey players were running casually which made me think they were decoys but based on the sequence and my timing, they were ahead by a lot (20-30 mins) then the teams I saw scrambling at the Roadblock at the Basin. With this lead and being only team at the challenge, I could understand a slower pace out to their cab, especially since a production car and camera crew followed along in other car and in cab (see the photo of the yellow cab...they ran out and hopped in and I didn't have my phone ready sadly)
-the shots of the pink team are the one in the dark vest sprinting around the basin doing the roadblock and her partner waiting with camera crew behind the car as seen in the shot. This is Elizabeth and Mona. They seemed to have upper hand/lead over female/male team by just a few minutes. The one behind the car was giving reaction/thoughts to camera man calmly, but had pack on ready to go. Production asked me to move along nicely but as I drove by I could see a team sprinting up steps of Jefferson across the Basin. I also passed the town car/limo with race flags on bumper like a motorcade but only saw one. Based on the parking lot, tents and crew, I'm now concluding that the clue was to find this car and driver for clue for roadblock and then do spy portion. I do not think it was their transportation as there was only one and that area seemed to be home base for crew and where the one team member waited.
-teams (as seen in the distant shots of what looks like sidewalks and streets you can see Mona/Elizabeth and camera man) ran out from the Mall side of the Basin to intersection of Independence Ave by the Basin and ramps to/off of southeast southwest freeway and 395 by Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Both pink and male/female were trying to hail cabs at same time within 15 feet of each other and frantically running up and down sidewalk trying to get one, clue envelopes in hand. This is not a strong spot for cabs, and sadly I couldn't flag them down to tell them.
-there is one shot of a man in a red jacket at Nats Park pointing as if giving to directions to another man. That's just the security guy at the gate giving directions to a tourist...errant shot!
-I don't know where they came from but from these other tweets Old Post Office sounds like their earlier stop. I've been to that gift store and its junky and tacky and they try to get every tourist to stop and take a picture with the Obama cut out. Not sure if that was a task, etc but the team seen in that shot is Mona and Elizabeth and were wearing the same clothes at Roadblock. Interesting note: old post office is one of the underused federally owned buildings that recently was sold and will be becoming a trump hotel. Historical landmark that makes for a great route marker, and he's promised to preserve it somehow.
-didn't overhear anything about Mount Vernon but makes great sense for finish line. Direct route from Nats Park on highways to GW Parkway which runs right up to the estate, secluded and not a heavy tourist destination this time of year mid day when they were racing (come spring and summer tons of school kids)

December 7, 2012 - Avid reality show fan here. Heard news that the Amazing Race 22 was filming around the DC Metro area yesterday. hop on to the Metro train station to Nationals Park in the afternoon. Saw notice signs on lightpoles everywhere saying that there was an event taken place at the ballpark. when i approach the center field gates ... saw a team (two males) with a camera guy filming them around the Amazing Race clue box possibly deciding to do the detour challenge or not . As you can see also, there was EMT ambulance on stand by too. Didn't see any other team(s) beside them during that time. Apparently they were well ahead at that point of the race.

Going through customs and retrieving our luggage was easy; the wait for our next flight wasn't such a breeze. Apparently, they were taping the Amazing Race and the camera crew, sound guys and contestants were completely obnoxious. The flight to Vaitape was nice. Make sure you sit on the right side of the plane-you will have an amazing aerial view of Bora Bora. Before the plane even opened the cabin door, there were additional film crews waiting outside. We sat patiently and watched as the contestants pushed their way out of the cabin door and took off running to get their luggage

Not only has TAR 22 already finished filming, I think applications have closed for TAR 23. You will probably have to apply for TAR 24 at this point. You can apply here:

We landed in Maun, Botswana, fighting off the film crew and contestants in the next season of “Amazing Race.” Our group leader, Andy, sat with two very beautiful young women from Austin, TX, who were contestants. Supposedly, it was a secret but they told us they were racing into the Kalahari Desert. Andy was lapping up all the attention he was getting as he flipped through his iPad showing the “racers” what he did. I believe I counted the use of the word, “awesome,” at least 50 times. At one point lights and cameras were rolling on us as the two women were admiring Andy’s work. There just might be a chance that I, yours truly, will be in a small segment of next season’s, “Amazing Race.”
After contacting her, Kandace was so nice to give me some great info on who and what she saw! :hearts: The black bolded content below is her account, the red is my notes included!
We flew to Botswana on Sunday, Nov. 25, approximately 4pm... We flew in from Jo'berg, South Africa to Maun, Botswana on Air Botswana. The Asian girls, the tall guy with really curly hair, and possibly the black couple were there but there were more than I didn't see. [I asked for more info on teams & showed her the cast photos, she confirms their names below]
We sat in Row 1 with the film crew manager, and my friend was behind us with the two blond chicks from Austin, TX [Caroline & Jen]. When the plane landed we let the two girls get out first to get a head start. There were also film crew on the tarmac as the contestants came off the plane. Well, it was quite something . . . the logistics to get the contestants and film crew off and running to the Kalahari Desert. I'm anxious to watch the show since we met the two chicks from Texas, and talked with them. Those girls are really friendly and really nice. But, boy could they say the word, "awesome" numerous times.
I know for sure there was the two Asian girls, Pamela and Winnie, the blondes from TX, Caroline and Jen, curly hair guy, Chuck and Wynona, and I think Mona & Beth, and Joey & Meghan.
The plane was completely full with our photo group of 14 people and the Amazing Race contestants and film crew, and probably some other people. Yes, there were probably more teams [elsewhere on another flight].
Just want to point out that with Max/Katie not being sighted and Kandace saying there were more teams she didn't see and some possibly elsewhere, it's possible that there's a few teams not in this group... Another flight? Or just not spotted? I'm not sure. But, we cannot conclusively say that THIS is the ONLY bunch of teams to make Botswana.
Once again thank you so much Kandace for your AMAZING insight into this, it's really appreciated by us all here and will help us immensely! :hrt: :kuss:

Both flights departed at least 4 1/4 hours earlier than this Kandace reported and even if it was the arrival time they were at least 2.5 hours earlier than Kandace reported. Maybe the flights were late, who knows but it sure looks highly suspicious to me.
