So I think given the right cancellations....that TAR 31 could stand a very good chance of airing THIS Fall!
So...
based on the CBS fall schedule, who do you think would be dumped...and would that particular airing time work for TAR?

This is NOT a WISHLIST Thread...
You should have some factual or good speculative media evidence to back up any possible show cancellations.
Time of airing is fair.
I have been saying for years that TAR should be Wed at 8 with Survivor at 9. That would give CBS a lockdown for that night. I know the counter arguments...but still.
Our old friend Sunday night would remain a possibility. A HUGE disadvantage are the constant Football overruns, that really hurts LIVE viewing.
Friday night at 10 is NOT for us. This remains a Family Show, and parents who want to watch with their kids and teach "life lessons" along the way are NOT watching LIVE TV on Fridays at 10.
Nor are young viewers...hopefully they are out at Football Games or on dates.....

I personally think Magnum PI will not do well. Whether it gets moved around or outright canceled I am not sure. My dad is a huge Magnum PI fan from the old days and he absolutely no desire to watch it. That being said I don't want Amazing Race to be moved to Monday because it'll be battling Monday Night Football. They could potentially move Seal Team to Monday (don't know how well that is doing), and do your idea of Survivor and Amazing Race combo.
Also is CBS not doing Thursday Night Football this year?

Also Also, I just read i needed evidence or info and sorry I don't have that other than the fact Monday Night Football normally does really well, and my dad doesn't want to watch the new Magnum PI. I'll delete this if necessary.
FOX has Thursday night football starting this year.

So if TAR31 would air this fall, TAR32 would take it place and air in january/february 2019?
I really want some of the new CBS shows to flop just to watch TAR31 ealrlier. :funny:

Well it isn't filmed yet...but I would hope that would be the plan if filming goes well and continues on schedule.. Maybe more like April...but spring 2019 def seems possible.
Hopefully we'll never see speed TAR January again.... :groan:

I have to offer one correction: I know the football delays are very annoying to deal with, but they actually HELP ratings. Football is still the most popular program on television, and when CBS gets the late game, all the evening shows get a boost, with the exception of the 10 PM show which is often bumped out of primetime. It's not a huge boost, mind you, but as someone who has followed the ratings industry for years, it was always noticeable the bumps that either CBS or Fox would get whenever they have the late game.
I think the best cancellation possibility is a show God Friended Me, Sundays at 8. Their other new shows are a reboot of Magnum PI, and a procedural FBI, both of which are right in CBS's yawn-inducing crime wheelhouse.
Personally, I dont see it airing in the fall. Networks are generally a bit more reluctant to pull new shows so quickly these days. I really think TAR31 will fill the same slot as TAR30. Especially when you consider the season has the reality show theme, airing in Survivor's slot makes too much sense, especially given last years favorable results.
If it's true that season 32 is filming this fall, I think we'll see season 31 in January/Feb, and then season 32 will air next summer, likely paired up with BB on the schedule. That would be a fun schedule for the next couple years, and I'd welcome it.
-
Basically everything TheRabbi says above^
The broadcast networks are not as trigger happy today as they once were. This isn't 2007 when CBS quickly yanked Viva Laughlin from the air and plugged in TAR12. CBS even stuck with "Wisdom of the Crowd" for its full 13 episode order this past season despite having horrible ratings (WITH an NFL boost) and the allegations against star Jeremy Piven.
CBS isn't going to suddenly pull any of its returning series early, so all those slots can be ruled out. As for the new shows:
MAGNUM P.I. - Mondays at 9pm
It's a big-name franchise. A remake of a legacy show for CBS.
CBS Mondays have collapsed overall and they are completely rebuilding the night with 2 new comedies at 8pm, Magnum P.I and the returning Bull at 10pm. They are definitely not going to cancel both comedies at the same time, especially with big names like Cedric the Entertainer and Damon Wayans Jr as the stars of both. And they're going to stick with Magnum P.I. for at the very least, the initial 13 episode order. Otherwise it would be a huge embarrassment to yank such a high profile series from the air early.
FBI - Tuesdays at 9pm
It has the cushiest and most comfortable timeslot between the NCISeses. So it likely has the best chance to succeed. Also being Dick Wolf's first non-NBC series in years, CBS is going to want to keep him happy. Most unlikely slot.
GOD FRIENDED ME - Sundays at 8pm
Again, if Wisdom of the Crowd surviving until December is the benchmark, God Friended Me should at least see it to that same point. It will get the NFL boost. Even if it gets sub-1.0s, NCIS:LA and Madam Secretary both hover around and below the same mark.
Bottomline, networks are not quick to pull shows off the air these days. These new series would have to absolutely crash and burn (unlikely) to get yanked early.
-
I’m confused why both of you are saying the NFL will boost CBS viewership. Sunday night football and Monday night football are on NBC and ESPN respectively. I don’t get how that would boost CBS
-
Sunday afternoon football is on Fox and CBS. And CBS gets the late afternoon game, at the very least, every other week. Sometimes in consecutive weeks. Thus, the NFL overruns which wreak havoc (but give a ratings boost) to CBS' primetime Sunday schedule. Many weeks, the afternoon games actually have more viewers than NBC's primetime game.
-
Oh when you say late game you don’t actually mean the latest game that day. I thought y’all meant the night game. I get it now.
-
What is delaying cancellation of failing new shows is the ability to see live plus seven and live plus 30 on all platforms as well as international sales with each broadcast network mostly owning their own shows on the schedule, i.e., less profit that is shared, more that is kept.
A show has to be really bad in live plus three and plus seven in the demos to face a quick cancellation. Now something could happen that causes a November premiere for a cancelled show (Viva Laughlin, anybody?) but that could mean other shows get shifted in the process.
We'll just have to see how this plays out given CBS' historic insistence on stunt casting to an extreme.
We can't be sure yet how Survivor's week-by-week schedule is being set up for either of its scycles this coming television year. It's quite possible, as I have suggested in the past that CBS understands how well TAR functioned in that Wednesday at 8 timeslot and will work to get two cycles of both Survivor and TAR in this time around. Otherwise, their wasting the opportunity TAR earned with season 30 in that time slot.
I just don't see CBS returning TAR to Sundays. There were constant criticism of that time slot the entire time TAR had it because of the constant TAR time shifting and making it more difficult for families to watch consistently on what was a school night.
-
Friday nights suck!
Teenagers do not watch TV on Friday nights! As Peach said, they are out on dates or out with their mates. (Personal experience. :))
If TAR does air on Sundays, it will have to be on a 8pm timeslot. You do not have family shows on, at 9pm on school nights :res:
What's on before FBI on Tuesday nights? Is that an option?
Would we get better ratings in the autumn then in spring, as it's too cold to be outside and then you have more people watching TV?
-
NCIS is on Tuesdays at 8pm before FBI. And no, that's definitely not an option.
-
I think it will stay in the Winter on Wednesdays. I only see it replacing God Friended Me on Sundays because I don't think that show will do well at all. The CBS Entertainment President isn't scared to move things around so I wouldn't be surprised to see TAR air this fall, but I would expect another Winter start between Survivor.
-
I think you all may be forgetting that we should have a second season in the can before end December.
That opens the possibilities for something THIS year and NEXT.
-
Could we have back-to-back airings like TAR6 and TAR7?
-
Of the broadcast networks, except for The CW, CBS has been least likely to shuffle their primetime schedule. And with CBS' primetime suffering big declines the last few years, ratings that were cancel-worthy even just two years ago (relative to other CBS programs) are now good enough to get renewed for next season. (Along with other factors such as international distribution - Hello Elementary!)
And what does having one fully produced and one fully-filmed season by December have anything to do with whether or not TAR31 premieres before the end of the year? They could have three seasons in the can, but if there's no available slot on the schedule, then there's no available slot on the schedule. Simple as that.
If you want to force TAR31 onto the air before the end of 2018, just hope and pray for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of CBS' primetime schedule to completely and utterly collapse. (Which is again, unlikely.) Because you can immediately rule out Wednesday-Saturday.
-
I thought TAR was close to being on the fall schedule this year. Wonder why it didn’t make it.
-
We're the "pinch hitter" lol. Put us in and watch us shine!
-
With the shakeup at CBS, could WRP consider shopping the show elsewhere, or are they tied to CBS?

After TAR31, anything can happen.
-
With the shakeup at CBS, could WRP consider shopping the show elsewhere, or are they tied to CBS?
Wouldn't TAR have a contract with CBS, stating that the show has to run on CBS? ???
-
If CBS cancels the show after TAR31, then WRP can take the show anywhere they want.
-
It could be wait till before December to announce TAR 31's season premiere date that could be expected in first week of January 2019. TAR remains strong to improvise the ratings.
-
If CBS cancels the show after TAR31, then WRP can take the show anywhere they want.
Why are you talking cancellation? From what I hear, we are in the best place we have been in for some time.
TAR 32 is actively casting, plans are in place for that filming.
The only thing unclear is our airing date, and a lot of that is because we have proven we can be useful in many slots.
And don't forget that there is some connection to ABC...IF (big if) we were to be cancelled I am under the impression that ABC would be eager to have us.

So, it could air like TAR 30, but hopefully without all of the double episodes?
-
Early 2019 would be more likely to have the double episodes since we'd still have CBB 2 airing.
-
That, and the fact that the show has now lost its fourth Emmy in a row for a total of six losses.
-
After winning ten times in a row.
The show isn't going to get cancelled because of prestige award losses against cultural phenomena like Rupaul's Drag Race.
-
Exactly. CBS is happy with us.

Talk about a non-sequitur: I said nothing about cancellation.

ABC would be happier.
-
If you look at how ABC casts the Bachelor/ette franchise, you’d think twice about that.
-
There's little to no difference these days if any.

God Friended Me got terrible focus group reviews. CBS have started live streaming it everywhere BEFORE the premiere...not looking good. In fairness I watched it and didn't hate it...but I think the concept is risky.

Is God friended me Sunday nights?

Sunday at 8 PM starting next week.

I'm a bit out of the loop, as I just caught this thread, but is the show at any risk of cancellation, and could TAR take over that timeslot?
Because I believe that if Phil Keoghan tweeted something like that, then it might as well be considered fact.

Not likely right now. TAR will be still in January 2019 schedule for the Wednesday timeslot within 8-9 weeks of airtime.
Stroke for opinion facts, crystalballing

Well, "God Friended Me" premieres next week and will get an NFL boost then and every other week. But even without it, it's safe until December. CBS stuck with "Wisdom of the Crowd" in that timeslot with sub-1.0 numbers for its full 13 episode order until January.

This would be lovely of course. But at this time there is ZERO factual evidence supporting this.

Per this: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/neighborhood-manifest-tv-ratings-monday-oct-1-2018-1148544
Happy Together only got a 1.0 rating for its premiere and lost a lot of its lead in as well.
The only way I see TAR airing on a Monday is if Magnum P.I. is yanked and needs a replacement immediately. P.I. went fractional last night so let's see if it drops at all before sweeps in November
-
Keep in mind CBS looks at live plus 30 and streaming info from its app before a decision would be made.
-
Presuming TAR31 airs in a similar way to TAR30 on Wednesdays at 8pm, the show could be getting much more difficult competition.
NBC has announced Dwayne Johnson's 10-episode "Titan Games" reality-competition program will premiere Wednesday, January 2 at 8pm with a 2-hour premiere and air at 8pm for one hour the weeks after.
-
CBS picked up God Friended Me, Magnum P.I. and The Neighborhood for full seasons.
-

Doesn't that mean, we now have to wait till 2019 to see TAR31 :( :'(
-
That means there are three slots unavailable. :)
-
That means there are three slots unavailable. :)
Seems like most of the new shows have actually succeeded in a full-season order. SEAL Team (after Survivor) is confirmed for a second season run which "seals" that reality comp spot away for an audience capture. Sigh...
Best to accept for either Happy Together (a weird Monday slot) or SWAT (a 1-hour Thursday slot) getting reffed out for TAR to jump in before the start of the Christmas season. I would like to expect they would fall into risky fractional ratings in a couple of weeks.
Otherwise, I think it's OK to think that we are headed for another usual post-New Year's premiere since that's what happened with last season.

Criminal Minds (Weds at 10) only has 15 eps this season so maybe after that ends in January, they push Seal Team back to 10 and have TAR at 9?
-
The Wednesday 8pm timeslot continues to get a little more competitive as Fox has slotted the new series The Masked Singer for that timeslot starting January 2nd as well. It's a hugely popular show in its home country of South Korea and a growing international franchise.

Oh! The Fox tweet earlier said 8pm. :duno:
Could still clash at 9pm of course if they follow TAR30's airing pattern.
-
NBC has moved Titan Games to Thursday so TAR won't have as big of a competition (if TAR still airs on Weds)

The multiple Emmy Award-winning for its 31st season with Emmy Award-nominated host Phil Keoghan, following the wrap of Survivor Season 38.
-
WTF, no january? Half year of waiting, jesus.
When TAR32 is supposed to air then? May 2020? :funny:
-
May 22nd is so late! I'm glad it probably won't be doubling up episodes like last season, but it's too long to wait!
-
Ah just saw it was because theres going to be another season of survivor before. still glad it finally has a date though.
-
I don't care about double episodes.
What I care about is that by March it'll be over a year without TAR, when we used to get 2 seasons a year, and that's sad. :/
-
Apparently it is going to fill that period between Survivor and Big Brother. But this brings up another thought... Will there be double episodes during that time if Big Brother starts the end of June or beginning of July? BB always has Wednesday episodes.
I was another that hoped for a January start. I actually didn't mind the double episodes since IMO there wasn't a whole lot else to watch on TV during that time.
-
The important news is that we’re keeping the Wednesday at 8pm ET/PT time slot.
-
WTF, no january? Half year of waiting, jesus.
29 finished filming in July 2016 and airing in June 2017.
31 finished filming in July 2018 and will finish airing in Summer 2019.

-
Taking the schedule information further, it does seem CBS couldn’t find a way this time to air TAR straight through on Wednesdays at 8 pm between seasons of Survivor. They can do so in the time slot in May, and Big Brother has been able to have their live eviction episodes at 9pm during its summer time slots.
Could mean TAR runs into early August with 12 straight one hour episodes.
At some point, CBS is going to have to figure out how to alternate TAR and Survivor year round in the same time slot. They’re not there yet.
-
I am desperate right now to wait for TAR in May. Further more, I will still have The Bachelor this January during the off-season.

World's Got Talent and The Challenge: Champs versus Champs, eh?

So this also means TAR won't be eligible for the Emmys. They need to air at least half of the season before end of eligibility. (May 31)
-

:faint:
-
Well this stinks. I really thought that with season 32 already filming that the January slot was a foregone conclusion. Between Celebrity BB, and the 2 new reality shows, there was plenty of slots it could have aired. But CBS has been desperately trying to find another reality hit for a while now. Didn't work with Hunted, and also that show with the young kids making some kind of community a few years back - the name escapes me.
These poor contestants are going to be waiting forever. 31 filmed in June/July and have to wait nearly a year for air, and who knows when 32 will air!
-
As if there weren't a precedent: Strangers' Edition contestants had to wait nearly as long.
-
Can we still pray for another show to get canned/moved and somehow TAR gets an earlier slot? :d025:
-
15 months without TAR. :'( TAR31 better be good!
-
Can we still pray for another show to get canned/moved and somehow TAR gets an earlier slot? :d025:
You can! Season 29 was originally slated for Fridays at 8 but moved up a month to Thursday at 10 after a show tanked there. Personally, I think we should just stick to our schedule. Wednesday at 8 is a great slot, it just sucks we have to wait.
-

Hopefully it does well because Survivor will be over and their audience may be looking for something to watch the next week and it's 1 month away from BB.
-
Honestly, it could be a good thing. Good time slot, will be one of the major reality shows over the Summer, and it gives them time to promo it a lot more.
And it could be *hopefully* setting up for S32 on the Fall schedule of next year.
-
I'm just very happy that we have an airdate! :conf: :cheer: :woohoo:
-
Why are we filming two seasons this year if we have to wait until summer next year to see 31? :jam:
They can easily film 32 in the summer season if they want a fall air schedule for 32.
I don't get it.
-
Fun fact: Reality Clash will be the first double-digit season to finish airing during the summer.

That's great to hear! Even though it's close to summer, at least we know it's airing. And on a "Survivor timeslot"? Possibly even better to rake in those handful more viewers.
-
I cant find the BMS thread for this season so i put it here:
WHY on earth do they film 2 seasons this year if we have to wait half a year to watch last season wrapped????
I'll bet S32 is earmarked for CBS AllAccess like other original programming like Star Trek : Discovery

The fact that CBS is burying S31 in the 'scrap heap' TV season desert of May-July leads me to worry that they feel S31 is not very good TAR season.
-
Agreed, being able to binge the season all at once is the least that the channel can do.
-
Seconded, the channel would've reserved it for January 2019 otherwise.

That would be incredibly devious!! But I would certainly subscribe, if only for a month.
It's certainly a fascinating possibility. They did put a season of big brother on the service near when it launched if I remember right. But TAR also has to be MUCH more expensive to produce than BB, so it depends on how much financial resources CBS wants to pour into the service. I'd be curious to see their subscriber numbers.
-
More like a sensible choice when the alternative is an indefinite wait.
-
From what I understand, I think CBS is happy with TAR and its #'s esp on DVR+7.
I doubt seriously that they would go just All Access. JMO
I think we MAY be in line again for a 2 season year.
And as always, we can be moved up if they need us.
-
Are there any new shows that can flop and be replaced by TAR this spring?
How high is chance that we will get TAR31 earlier like it happened with TAR29?
-
If one of the new shows flops TAR would be a prime choice for a replacement.
But it would likely be 32 that was moved up in that case.
From what I hear 31 is better suited to a summer slot.
-
Thank you for your answer GP.
So there is possibility of "TAR32" being aired before "TAR31" if one of new shows flop? I am shocked...
Praying for low ratings for some new show even more now!!! :funny:
Wouldn't it be amazing to have 2 seasons aired before fall 2019? :D (I am still thinking we will need to wait till may, but let's keep hope alive, lol.)
-
There will be two new reality shows on CBS later this year that will be called The World's Best and Million Dollar Mile, to be aired in February and March, respectively.
If either of those described shows will be flopped, TAR 31 may have a chance to air earlier than scheduled May 22 premiere. I could say The World's Best or Million Dollar Mile to Saturdays.
-
Actually, could be ANY of the shows...not just those.
-
The World's Best is getting the Super bowl lead-in treatment. CBS is going to give it every chance to succeed. Would be absolutely stunned if that got yanked or banished to Saturday. Plus, CBS hasn't exactly had a bunch of new hits this year, but they are sticking with shows at least through their initial episode orders.
-
The World's best will flop, mark my words. Maybe CBS'll start appreciate TAR more then...
Is there some list of new TV shows premiering in spring at CBS? I couldn't find any...
-
Try this one?

World's Best unsurprisingly had a strong start after the super bowl, but it went right to the gutter in it's time slot debut last night, drawing just a 1.0 rating. That's less than what TAR30 was doing in the time period last year (before the Olympics). And CBS was airing reruns in that slot this January as they waited for this to premiere. What a waste. CBS continues to have a nightmare of a time launching new reality shows outside their core 3 (4 I guess if you include Undercover Boss). I don't expect anything to happen to it on the schedule; just sharing the ratings data.

This is not what CBS expected, lol. I hope it will drop under 1 next week. Could CBS replace it with TAR then? What is your opinion?
The ratings are "not that bad" for cancellation imo, but this is big dissapointment for CBS for sure.
-
I'd be really surprised if they moved 31 up, or started 32. Seems like they have their entire schedule planned until at least the end of summer. Celebrity Big Brother-> Survivor->Tar 31-> Big brother
I feel like throwing in a season of Amazing Race right now would throw off their flow. I'd love to be surprised and have it happen though!
-
World's best drew 0.7 last night, its completely flopping. I wonder when CBS will pull the plug in favour of TAR?
-
It went from 1.0 to 0.9 to 0.7, definitely not looking at a renewal here.

World's best drew 0.7 last night, its completely flopping. I wonder when CBS will pull the plug in favour of TAR?
It still took Training Day six consecutive <1.0 episodes and Bill Paxton dying (shortly after the fourth one) to get 29's premiere date moved up.

It’s already a limited run. I doubt they would pull it before they have a winner.
-
They will just have to swallow the loss. They can't just yank it off the air. They could maybe tweak the format a little to speed things up and chop off an episode or two. But it would also be very embarrassing for CBS to even do that, let alone take their post-Super Bowl show off their air so suddenly. Even moving it to Saturday would be very embarrassing and something they would likely not do for such a high profile show.
-
My understanding is that the World’s Best was completely in the can some time ago, so the midwinter timing is more of a burn off than anything. I’ve said in the past CBS wants Wednesday at 8 for TAR.
I noticed with interest yesterday that Jeff Probst was asking on Twitter yesterday about whether fans would go for some 2-hour episodes, exactly what Survivor would need to do so TAR can share that time slot possibly returning both shows twice a year. This would be the time to address that question for pre-production of both shows for the 2019-2020 season.

It got a super bowl lead-in and then a prime post-Survivor slot. That is not even close to burnoff. CBS wants desperately to find another reality show to have some legs besides it's reality staples. This just wasn't the one.
-
It went from 1.0 to 0.9 to 0.7, definitely not looking at a renewal here.
0.5 last night.
Can they just cancel it and replace it by TAR?

The final rating for last week's episode actually went down from 0.7 to 0.6, and this week has been adjusted down to 0.4.
Also, viewership has gone from pretty strong 5.56 and 5.85 to 3.65 and just 2.64 million yesterday..
-
The odds of TAR coming back before 5/22 are really low. Even with how bad Worlds Best is doing, it only has 3 weeks left before being replaced by Million dollar mile. And CBS will want to advertise the heck out of that during March Madness since it has a Lebron connection. We should have more patience; it's getting closer.
-
.4
Let’s see how much lower this show can go.
Also depends on what happens with Million Dollar Mile

Just added on the TAR FB page:

Also, I suggest not reading the comments section on the TAR Facebook page. But then again, that's good advice all year round. lol
-
If Million Dollar Mile will get struggled into ratings like The World's Best, that will face cancellation and possibly move to Saturdays as a burn-off program. TAR could premiere early by April.
-
It is possible in theory Claude.
But as I said before, I don't think that will happen.
I think we are locked for May. With the possibility of 32 in the fall.
And another season to film in October (tbd)....
The new show (Reboot your Life) that is being casted now would not be aired for at least a year.
Overall we are looking good! As far as I can tell right now this show has no bearing on us at all.
-
And another season to film in October (tbd)....
Isn't another season supposed to film in summer according TAR casting site? Did something change?
-
The World's Best probably won't be pulled since it only has 2 more episodes left. The only way I see TAR airing before May is if Million Dollar Mile does around 0.5-0.7 and gets pulled.
-
The website says:
When do they film this upcoming season?
We are currently casting for the season that will film in the Summer of 2019. Filming is approximately 25-30 days
https://www.theamazingracecasting.com/faq
-
This means another 2 seasons will be filmed this year.
Woot

Woot
It’s possible, but the planning time for a filming in October on top of summer would be extraordinarily short by TAR standards. Even when we had three seasons air in a 12 month period one time in the early seasons, the filming was more spread out given preproduction and postproduction needs.
I’m not sure where the October mention came from. source?
In any event, a summer filming will mean two seasons in the can by summer’s end after 31 finishes airing. That would cover 2019-2020. Hopefully we’ll have a better understanding before then of how 32 and 33 will be aired.
-
I think it is possible the casting site info may change..... totally unofficially.
-
Where did the October date come from? I assumed they would do summer and then December, like they did last year (assuming they are planning 2 seasons this year)/

I just saw this too lol. Million Dollar Mile got moved to Saturdays. That was a flop.

It did a 0.9 and then a 0.8. The World's Best did around a 0.6 and that didn't get pulled. Weird. lol

Does this mean it qualifies for the 2019 emmys now?

World's Best had Super Bowl promotion. Million Dollar Mile lost over half of Survivor's viewers both weeks.
TAR is back early. :conf: :cheer:

Nice! So BOTH of CBS's new reality attempts flopped.
I think this opens the door to have 32 air in the summer as well. Now 31 can be over by the end of June and they can keep right on with 32 before the fall shows return.
-
Not only was Million Dollar Mile moved to Saturday's, it's not even being resumed until May 4th. RIP. LeBron and Tim Tebow tried.

The positive about having to wait 10 months between filming and airing is that I forgot half the boot list lol. I remember the first few of boots and the final 4, but between that, bloop.

A BIG FAT RESOUNDING YES!!!

Yeah. It was more of a save face kind of move by CBS. Pulling a show that premiered after the Super Bowl would be a huge embarrassment. Also a little bit of a disappointment for James Corden who CBS definitely eyes as a major face for the network moving forward.

Except for the fact that airing a regular-length episode every week still means that the finale would be on Independence Eve.

Technically, three if you include Hunted which CBS obviously wanted to have replace TAR as well.
If anything, TAR31 doing well may open the door for TAR32 to air in the Fall. Having back-to-back seasons like that would be too much and CBS, obviously wanting to maximize any profit, would save TAR for the more lucrative Fall slot than in the summer.
-
Precisely, why rush to air 32 in August when it can wait until September?

Yeah, because CBS has never aired 2 hour episodes or finales before. It would be extremely easy to accomplish and I was simply pointing out the possibility. Would rather it air in the fall though.
-
Then it should've been mentioned from the get-go rather than wording it oddly.
-
Waking up to this news is AMAZING! :conf: :cheer: :woohoo:
Bring on April 17!
-
For what it's worth, Chicago Fire and Modern Family/Single Parents will be repeats on NBC and ABC on April 17. New eps on FOX and the CW.
-
The predictions on the two latter shows are right. I am relieved right now. Very very happy day for me. :bump: :bump: :bump: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I assume TAR takes a week off for the Survivor finale in May?
-
I assume TAR takes a week off for the Survivor finale in May?
Yes. That I see on Futon Critic that TAR will have a break for May 15 to make room for Survivor finale.
-

I would also assume (dangerous, I know) that TAR would move to the 8pm hour as well on the 22nd.
-
With the week off for Survivor, TAR will have exactly six episodes aired before May 31, just making it eligible for the Emmys. That is assuming all one-hour/one episode a week.
Only those six episodes will be eligible for consideration. The (6?) episodes that will air after May 31 won't be eligible.
-
I assume TAR takes a week off for the Survivor finale in May?
Yep. I wouldn't be surprised if CBS moves TAR to 8pm after Survivor ends and expands to 2 hours. CBS makes $117K for a 30-Second Ad so they probably want the $$ instead of airing repeats during the summer.
-
Seems akin to a fixture from the Sunday era, i.e. the mid-season two-week break for the Country Music Awards.
-
Not directly related to the airing of 31, as we'll be midway through the season, but about the airing of 32, and possibly filming of cycle 33.
The CBS Upfronts for ad buyers is slated for 05/15 afternoon:

In a sense the imminent premiere is an improvement re:the upfront. Under the earlier premiere date, season 31 would have still been a week in the future.
