Ok, so first, I have to say, the AMAZING work that all the spoiler team has done in the first few hours, its nothing short of a miracle what they can do, and that's not the point of this thread, cuz if you complain about them, well, I'll ban you! haha
I'm here to bitch and moan about the cast! I mean, is this really an all star cast (and thats why its in the spoilers board) or is this just kinda a mediocre cast? I mean, some of these teams were so forgettable, and we wanted to forget some of them.
I know they don't want past winners on there, but I mean, wheres Nick & Star, Megan & Cheyne? Or Toni & Dallas, those teams are all stars....lets get some real all stars on this show for once!
So, to the spoiler team out there working, go blow up their spot and ruin the whole season!! LOL

Amanda/Kris is the worst casting choice of all time. OF ALL TIME. I also hate the three teams that you mentioned :lol:
If they wanted good teams they should have picked some of the snubbed teams from the first all stars. Ken/Gerard, Flo/Zach, Colin/Christie - Now they are all stars.

There is no evidence that this season will even be called an all-star season. There has been speculation that it is more of a second-chance race for teams who were eliminated in unfortunate ways.

One never knows why teams can and cannot return to the race. Often on All-Stars, teams with nothing better to do in life return.

I don't know.. but too many season 14 teams. 3 is okay, 4 is.. try to accept the fact.. BUT FIVE?? FIVE???? FIVE????? Ridiculous.
And where's KEN AND TINA and TERENCE AND SARAH of TAR 13? Or even Toni and Dallas if they don't want winners??
What about Brian and Ericka?? I thought they LOVEDDDD Maria and Tiffany?
Although Carol and Brandy are really... :meow: I'll rather see them on the race than Amanda and Kris or Zev and Justin, at least they're memorable and i'll love to have a team to hate rather than have a team.. to not know whether i hate or love them or not.
I don't remember the globetrotters being anymore interesting than the Ericka/Brian and Meghan/Cheyne.. how come they're here??

I'm just shocked that Ken and Tina, Brian and Ericka, Nat and Kat/Brooke and Claire didn't make it. If you ask me, i thought even Chad and Stephanie were more memorable than Amanda and Kris.. and Chad and Stephanie got eliminated because of a U-TURN too? :res:

I know I'm gonna hate this season. What a sucky cast roster we have here. At this point, the three teams I'll root for to be the final three are Margie/Luke, Zev/Justin and Gary/Mallory.
Hoping the first team out is Jet/Cord. I do like Cord, he's funny at times but always thought Jet was a cocky mofo.
Hoping the trotters are the 2nd one out. They don't need to be on TAR....they already are famous. Get out of here already!
Really, I don't care how this season turns out. So ready for TAR19! Need to skip this one , seriously!

I like the cast - a good mix of controversial and intelligent racers. And its achieved its first goal already - it got you talking about them.
I am concerned with this being a lame route and the lack of security around the start though.

I agree. Maybe they want people to know more about the return of the racers or something like that. This could by why they planned a TBC on the first "leg"

All- star this is going be good season

My 2 cents:
Kynt & Vyxsin - awsome team, nothing to say about them, just that I'm really excited to see them back
Ron & Christina - loved this team, may create drama (which is good)
Amanda & Kris - NOT THEM!! boring team that may win the race
Mel & Mike - Bof, would of liked Ken & Tina instead
Jamie & Cara, Margie & Luke, Kisha & Jen - loved this trio, happy to see them back
Flight Time & Big Easy, Jet & Cord - Lot of people like them, but I find them boring & and sometime stupid. They were popular in their season because there were nobody else interesting
Zev & Justin - Its OK. They were fan favourite during the first four episodes.
Gary & Mallory - YES YES YES So happy to see them back!!! They stay positive all the time.
Would of liked to see Brook & Claire or Nat & Kat again but I guess that it was impossible because Claire is pregnant and Nat & Kat are doctor (plus one them may have won the race)
Sad to see no teams from season 13 - loved Toni & Dallas and Ken & Tina
Would love that the elimination order be like this:
11th: Jet & Cord
10th: FT & BE
9th: Amanda & Kris
8th: Mel & Mike
7th: Zev & Justin
6th: Ron & Christina
5th: Kisha & Jen
4th: Jamie & Cara
3th: Kynt & Vyxsin

Note: The final 6 has been really hard for me to decide. I wouldn't mind in which order they get eliminated but I want Gary & Mallory to win!!! I want them to be the first parent/child team to win the race!!! :jumpy:

But I "hear" that production may have thought that season 13 was just too nice, and too close and too friendly with each other to provide good drama, not in any way that they were not good racers.
There were some other racers asked to be part of this as well, who for one reason or another could not or chose not to participate. :(

Obviously the producers liked the team dynamic of 14 or could not get anybody else 2 come on from other seasons.

Sooo, I know I'm going to love this season when I start watching (I also loved season 11, even though some of my favorite teams weren't there), but right know I only feel like complaining about the choice of teams lol
I hate that almost half of the cast is from season 14 and there's not a single team from season 13. I want Toni and Dallas!
I just don't complain all that much because one of my favorite teams ever is racing (Jet and Cord :hearts:). I hope they win!

I second that... if you add in Zev and Justin. I have nothing against them. But 9TH placers should not be asked back. In what way were they more competitive than Ken and Tina??

But I guess this is what makes every race interesting and exciting if I like every team I be probably bored... the fact that the teams you don't like make it far make your root and get excited even more for the teams you do like when they beat them or something like that...

If you havent noticed, all of your teams were eliminated too.
Theres no reason Kynt and Vyxsin should be ruled out just because they were eliminated.
And remember, Kynt and Vyxsin had a higher placing than both Amanda and Kris/ Gary and Mallory,

Oh yeah you are right, I checked it on wikipedia after I post it but still can't remember them...
I guess during the break between The finale of Season 17 and the beginning of season 18 I'll be rewatching TAR12 to TAR16 to be prepared haha (skiping TAR13)

I would agree that some of these teams arn't "all stars", but as pointed out, some of them were eliminated due to events beyond their control and are being given a second shot. Taking that into consideration, there is only one team that I don't understand the logic in casting: Gary & Mallory. I like them, don't get me wrong, but what did they do that was so memorable to cast them over a few other teams the current season or Toni & Dallas who can equaly be an "all star team" and a second chance team?

There are less memorable teams from Season 12-17, as there are from Seasons 1-6 or Seasons 4-10 or any 6 in between!

for Mel and Mike, they were prob just like, "why the eff not?" at that point
and that is why we have 5 teams season 14 teams

I would say that it was probably all the way around...
I meant... They cast Margie&Luke and Mel&Mike cause their memorability (is that a word?)
Kisha&Jen and Jamie&Cara are memorables teams, competitive, and most important they will be the F/F teams that this season needed... probbably Kisha&Jen due the way they were eliminated (pee break)
then they think "mmm we are lacking on dramma, u-turned teams anyone?" then they cast Amanda&Kriss

My worst B O R I N G scenario has come true. I realize that there are thousands of team fans out there who just love some of these teams on 18, but to me, not one team listed stands out in my mind as noteworthy. None of these TAR 18 teams showed that powerful drive to win in their previous season and I truly hope that the second time around hasn't left them as jaded as the teams from the first all star season. I'll give it a chance and watch the first few episodes, but I hope I am not disappointed like I was in the first go round of all stars. The show suffers when they show a half-butt season. That's my bitch and moan. Enough said.

One reason why I did not get involved in the speculation on casting was because I was sure Lynne Spillman and company would follow whatever it is they follow in casting. It often has not made sense to me, and it still doesn't.
At least to me none of these teams are objectionable, and I do like some of them enough that I'm glad to see them back. It is entirely possible that teams from some of these six seasons weren't available for a second run, and that could explain some of the heavy representation of TAR 14 in this cast. But not Toni and Dallas? Given the role production actually played in the events that led up to their elimination in Moscow, a second chance for them would not have been too much to ask.

I only don't like the Cowboys... and maybe Kisha & Jen, coz I'm big Margie & Luke fan, but the rest looks okay to me.

My take on the confirmed teams this season:
Kynt and Vyxsin
They were a breath of fresh air during their season, so I can understand why they brought them back.
I don't relate to goths, so..meh. Guess it's an okay decision.
Ron and Christina
Good dynamic team, some potential drama can happen.
Their development as a father/daughter were interesting on their original run.
Amanda and Kris
Umm...who? I honestly don't remember this couple very well, too anonymous. Perhaps they can improve this time around, we might be surprised.
Jaime and Cara
:yess: I wanted them to win S14, it's fitting that they get another chance.
Kisha and Jen
I had no problem with these women, they were extremely competitive.
The only reason some has a grudge issue is because of the shoving incident.
For me they were an exciting team
Margie and Luke
The whiny guy and his bionic mother :lol3:
Sorry, but I couldn't stand Luke's whining everytime something didn't go his way.
I would rather have Mark & Michael instead, I loved them.
Mel and Mike
Yeah okay, they were a surprisingly hard working team, so understandable again.
Flight Time & Big Easy
The bullies of Season 15 as I like to call them. True, they were funny, but they were also too strong and athletic
and for the most parts steamrolled through physical tasks.
Zev and Justin
Heartbreaking when they lost their passports, but... meh.. Not very memorable for me.
Jet and Cord

Gary and Mallory
If not Jet & Cord wins, I want G/M to win. Mallory is so sweet, so go Team Mallory.
Maybe the producers did a poor job of casting because they assumed we were too preoccupied with the
"filmed in High Definition" announcement. Maybe they thought we wouldn't care much, as long as it was in HD.
Friggin' HD, folks! It fixes everything. Now suck on that. :werock:
Well, I hope it will be an okay season, all this talk about S18 has me almost lost interest in the rest of S17 heh

the thing is with teams like Zev and Justin and Amanda and Kris is they were eliminated too early to really get a memorable edit.
the editors tend to lean towards more screentime for the teams that make it further (naturally...)
so, a team that got eliminated on leg 4, is obviously not going to get as dynamic an edit as a team that made it to leg 10.
so yeah, they were forgetable on their original seasons, but that's because we needed to, so we could focus on the teams still in it.
it's not fair to be upset at a team for the editors not using them as much
i feel, had they gone even a little bit farther, you all would be singing a different tune

Kynt and Vyxsin
Not a fan, not a supporter. But extremely glad they're back. They deserved to be back on. Very memorable and kinda popular amongst the fans. Definitely a worthy team.
Ronald and Christina
Guys, the reason why TAR 12 was even bearable throughout the entire season was because of this time. They started as the underdogs, fought with one another, then learnt from their mistakes and worked together to overcome the race together and beat competitive teams like Nate and Jen, Kynt and Vyxsin and Azaria and Hendekea!! How could anyone not say they're not allstars worthy? My favourite team of the lot and am damn glad they're back!!
Margie and Luke
They're like Ron and Chris V2.0!! TAR 14 wouldn't be half as exciting/interesting had it not been for this team. Although people might find them evil, extremely competitive.. but guys, aren't you glad that this team is not your regular parent and child team? They may not be my all-time favourite team, but i respect the way they raced with integrity and i'll definitely still root for them to win. Allstars won't be the same without them! (unless this time round they're eliminated early.. hopefully not)
Amanda and Kris
Amanda and Kris gotta let go of their grudge against Margie and Luke. Had it not been for Margie and Luke, you sure know that they won't even make it on this race. They were half as exciting as Kris and Jon and no doubt they're really a nice and competitive team.. you just gotta admit that they're really not in the league of all-stars. They coming back just seemed like teams like Michael and Kathy (TAR3), Dennis and Ericka (TAR5) and other random dating couples returning to have another go on the race. Nice team? Definitely. Allstars? No way. Maybe if they made it far enough this season, they will be considered Allstars... I have nothing against them, but i won't be rooting for them, for now too. But i'll let the race go and decide whether to root for them after watching the season.
Jaime and Cara
Memorable? Check. Competitive? Check. Controversial? Check. There you go, definitely qualified all-stars. I'm not a fan of them but you gotta admit they're really popular on TAR 14 and has a huge fan base. Besides, if Kisha and Jen are back, they gotta be back too!
Kisha and Jen
I'm surprised that these two are back. Because if teams like bowling moms are not even included in the first allstars, how come they got to get another go? Yes, they're competitive. But i remember them being totally clueless and muddleheaded at the same time. If all goes wrong, they might just waste an allstars team spot and make it seems like the producers are really retarded to choose them to be on the show. No doubt i kinda like this team, but the fact that they're missed out of allstars or not will not be a big concern to many..
Mel and Mike
I'm a fan of Mel and Mike and was heartbroken when they're eliminated. But this team has the same issue with Kisha and Jen. Nobody will have any issues with this team being missed out if they're not on allstars, but at the same time.. this team is not generating much buzz and commotion among the fans even if they're on allstars. I'm happy that they're on. But frankly speaking, i'll rather have teams i hate who're more memorable such as Carol and Brandy.. not because i'm weird.. but because at least Carol and Brandy can have people start talking about the race. People will bitch about the choice by producers and how they dislike them blah blah blah. Besides, Carol and Brandy are AT LEAST in the final 5 and VERY VERY memorable.
Zev and Justin
Not memorable and absolutely not worthy of allstars. Nice team? Maybe. Because i haven't seen enough of them to have an impression of the team. I spoke about the next season being allstars with my friend and told them Zev and Justin are on. They're all like.. Zev and WHAT? And then went on to ask me if teams like Carol and Brandy or Tammy and Victor are on or not. You see, if producers wants people to watch allstars, they gotta choose people who're memorable!! That's my problem with the cast for allstars. In what way is Zev and Justin more memorable than all the other teams to deserve a spot on allstars? No doubt people love them or what, but seriously.. this is the team i'm most shocked to see making it.
Flight Time and Big Easy
I remember them as an obnoxious team and they're not really a fan favourite. Maybe i'm wrong and i'm biased. I'm not a fan of them and are not happy they're back. But at least they're memorable you see. I have no qualms with them making it on the next season, because they're a much better selection than teams like Amanda and Kris and Zev and Justin. (I like the latter more, i emphasize. I just don't think they should make it on the show. It seems unfair to the teams in the first 10 seasons who have to fight among 100+ teams for 11 spots in the first allstars, as compared to this season)
Jet and Cord
Extremely nice, totally competitive. Very memorable. Funny at times. Raced with their own style. Another team whom i deemed fit to be on allstars. They may be an alpha all male team but don't forget, they've got their bad times as well. I can't wait to see how well they race this time round competing against SOME of the competitive teams we have on the race.
Gary and Mallory
The same problem with Kisha and Jen and Mel and Mike. Memorable? Mildly. Nice team? Definitely. I'm a fan of them and are extremely happy they're back. But if they're missed out i'll feel maybe abit sad or what, but not extremely devastated by the fact that they're ripped of their spot on allstars had they not make the selection cut. But i'll be rooting for them definitely. I think at least they fulfill the position of the underdogs! (David and Mary)

8. Jet and Cord (TAR 16)
9. Carol and Brandy (TAR 16) I know.. i know, but you need to have your regular villians!
10. Nat and Kat (TAR 17)
11. Brooke and Claire (TAR 17) Brooke is pregnant, to be replaced by..
11. Gary and Mallory (So that i'll have a balanced race with all teams equally represented from each season)
At least i believe they got 7/11 teams right.. FOR ME. And since i really didn't mind Mel and Mike, i like 8 of the teams on the race. And as for FT and BE, they're acceptable as an Allstars team i guess... so that makes 9 teams who're sort of acceptable..
Just still in shock that Zev and Justin and Amanda and Kris are on. Especially with 5 TAR 14 teams, Amanda and Kris should have been replaced by ANYONE on TAR 13 from the final 6. Yes, even Kelly and Kristy! As for Zev and Justin.. i thought asking back Brian and Ericka or Maria and Tiffany from their own season would have made more sense.
I think for an allstars, every season MUST have a representation. Sigh, looks like TAR 13 really has been left out.
But what the hell, it's an allstars and i like 8 of the teams. So i shall give this one a chance... there, i end my rant! :lol3:

I don' t really hate any of the teams, but for me Mike and Mel and Zev and Justin were not that memorable to want to see them again. On the other hand I'm looking forward to seeing if the rivalry between Marge/Luke and Kisha/Jen still exists and how it is going to affect their game.
On another note, I have as much fun watching all the spoilers, all the TAR detectives following the racers, as watching a real episode. Congratulations to everyone.

UsSoccer, regarding your casting theory, isn't it too much to cast around 1 person though? It's not the Luke Show, after all. Your viewership rating makes more sense, I think.

About the cast...
I, for one, think that the casting of 5 Season 14 teams is not at all a bad idea. It was a very entertaining season with many power teams and had the most physical tasks by far, compared to any other recent season. There is a reason why that was the last season to win an Emmy…The teams chosen, however, are a little surprising. Yes, Luke had a large following, but he also annoyed a lot of people. That's probably why they cast Kisha/Jen (shoving) and Mike/Mel, ("sinister deaf kid") and most importantly Kris/Amanda (blind u-turn) back...
And to offset the Anti-Luke league they cast the red heads back. At least they again have someone to hang on to and follow to the end, if Margie is still as competitive...
Mike and Mel had a large following and CBS lost over 1.39 million viewers (TAR 14 on Wikipedia) when they were eliminated. = logical choice...
The show also lost 450,000 viewers when Christie and Jodi were eliminated! Their last episode had the largest number of viewers, except for the Finale. Interesting that no one has mentioned them. They were a smart and very competitive team who won a leg because of a smart flight decision and then had the bad luck that all the teams had to wait for one train departure time and then had 2 consecutive days of bad directions by a local and a taxi driver who took them an hour out of the way. Christie has to be very disappointed to see the other S14 teams chosen back, but it doesn't help when you have a teammate who now works in casting and hangs out with all the CBS reality people every weekend... (see Facebook) They also seem to not be that good of friends, so a re-race might have had some entertaining moments…
Flight Time and Big Easy were entertaining and very competitive physically, as long as there aren't many "think" tasks... Same goes for Kisha and Jen. Kynt and Vyxen ARE the Amazing Race. They are at every function and fundraiser and live for that show, so a good choice as well.
Ron and Christina I am not crazy about. The dad came around during their season and I think they might ba a little boring this coming season. I would have preferred some other team instead.
Mallory is entertaining, so good choice, along with her smart dad. Funny, how the new race started a week after they got eliminated from TAR17.
The cowboys were definitely a fan favorite and deserve to be there. I don’t think they will have it as easy as in their (pretty lame) season.
Zev and Justin were too boring for my taste; I would have rather seen Steve and Linda...
Speaking of… As you can tell from their Facebook updates, or lack thereof, Steve and Linda, Mike and Mark, and Brad and Victoria were all cast as alternates… that leaves only Victor and Tammy as the winners, Preston and Jennifer, and the above mentioned Christie and Jodi out of the cast… I would have loved to see a TAR14 V2.0 to see how much luck and skill is really involved.
Marige and Luke are a highly emotional and volatile team but they definitely have a fan following. I can't believe the producers have renewed the Kisha and Jen\Margie and Luke rivalry.
It doesn't get much closer to a TAR14 v2.0 than this. :lol:

Kenny and I were heartbroken to not be chosen for TAR18 ;( But, we would have been happy if just 1 other TAR13 Team had been selected.
Such a shame as our season had wonderful ratings and was included in the 13/14 Emmy Win.

5. Margie and Luke (TAR 14)
6. Mel and Mike (TAR 14)
7. Brian and Ericka (TAR 15)
8. Jet and Cord (TAR 16)
9. Carol and Brandy (TAR 16)
10. Brook and Claire (TAR 17)
11. Gary and Mallory (TAR 17)
6 of these teams are on, so I sure ain't complaining about them. I think it's a huge waste that Brook is pregnant... These girls are totally worthy of being on All-Stars. I guess the time just isn't right. My opinion on the other 5 teams that I wasn't strongly expecting to be on.
Jaime and Cara - I don't know why I've never considered this team to be on All-Stars before. But I would say that they deserve to be on. They've fought a pretty strong race, and came in second place ultimately. What's more, there's always so much drama with these two girls. They'll definitely bring more colour to the race. And here's hoping they'll win a leg this time...
Kisha and Jen - I was surprised when I found out that they're on. Sure, they'll probably have some drama with Margie and Luke, looking at least season. But I don't think that should be a reason to place them on. Maybe they were competitive and strong. But a thousand other teams are. They should have replaced them with Ken and Tina! (At least it balances the number of teams from each season.)
Amanda and Kris - I'm actually glad to see them on! The reason I didn't consider them was because they finished in 8th place, and looking at the first All-Stars, the producers only cast teams that finished in 6th place or better. But when I found out that they're on, I was like, cool! Maybe many have question marks regarding this team. But I believe that they deserve it. They were a really strong team, they were nice to each other, and they got screwed by a U-Turn. I remember being extremely sad when they left in such a way. It'd be nice to see what they'd do with this second chance!
Flight Time and Big Easy - I didn't particularly like them on their season. But on a strictly impartial view, they do deserve to be on. They were strong, fast, competitive and won quite a number of legs. It'll be interesting to see how they'll fare this time against the other competitive teams. (Although I secretly hope another mental challenge will boot them out of the race lol.)
Zev and Justin - Another team I didn't expect to see. I'm fine with this choice. After all, they were a pretty consistent team on their season, until they lost their passport. They were a nice team as well. So I would say that I don't mind seeing them on another season. But if they'd replaced them with Toni and Dallas, it'd have been a little better. Lol.
I actually like the cast for this season. Other than the fact that there're 5 teams from TAR 14. That's a little too many don't you think. But I guess TAR 14 was just such a great season, they had to put these teams on. Hopefully it'll turn out for good. Another thing I like (which I think many people don't) is that they actually cast an 8th and 9th place team this time. I've always thought that not all teams who have a worse finish than 6th place are bad racers. Some of them are great racers who've gone out in unfortunate ways. So I'm glad that producers are giving these teams another chance.

Guys, don't forget that this isn't necessarily an "All-stars" season.
Frankly, I'm getting a "second chances" vibe moreso than a "All-stars" vibe.
most (if not all) these teams either got eliminated or lost out in the finals due to unfortunate circumstances
Kynt and Vyxsin- the unfortunate situation of the U-turn in India and the Roadblock that followed
Ron and Christina- losing their lead because of a really challenging final memory task
Amanda and Kris- falling victim to possibly the hardest U-turn (besides maybe that one in S16) to date
Mel and Mike- running a strong race until getting horrible directions in Phuket
Kisha and Jen- the infamous potty break
Jaime and Cara/Margie and Luke- another challenging final task (+ bad taxis didn't help J/C's cause)
Zev and Justin- the passport fiasco
Flight Time and Big Easy- the (not so) challenging Roadblock in Prague
Jet and Cord- that one move that Dan and Jordan used on the airplane during the finale really solidified their fate
Gary and Mallory- done in by a bad map

I just can't believe that there is another all stars. Season 11 (All-stars) was so poorly received in the Spring of 2007 that Season 12 was orginally delayed to the following Spring. But Viva Laughlin sucked so bad that Season 12 started during the fall sweeps of 2007. Do you remember those days of when it looked like 1 Race per year? Ugh!!
As for the race teams, they don't look so bad to me.
From Season 12, I beleive that Nate & Jen are no longer together so they should be out and Grandpa Donald is probably too old.
Toni & Dallas from season 13 are to me the biggest omission. I wonder if they turned down an invite. Sarah would have been a great choice but I think she is no longer with that guy so she's out.
From season 15, Maria & Tiffany would have been a good choice but I wouldn't be surprised if they turned it down.
From season 16, no one else other than the Cowboys were memorable. While I thought Jeff did an excellent job with Around the World for Free, he and Jordan were poor racers. The only interesting thing about seeing them again would have been to see if their team dynamic grew as much as Boston Rob and Amber's did between their two races. In Race 11, Amber had more of an equal voice with Boston Rob than she did during Race 7. I wonder if Jordan would have also grown as much.
As for Race 17, I really don't who could have said yes if asked. I know that my employer would not have given me the time off to race twice around the world in one calendar year.
A little off topic: I did get a kick out of how Peach's source(s) for the contestants got Ron and Christina confused for Kevin and his father.

Ken & Tina -- I remember that their hook was about whether Tina would reconcile with Ken over his infidelity. Once their run was over, production probably felt that their storyline had run its course. Uchenna & Joyce had a similar storyline as the couple whose infertility strained their marriage. The whole orphanage task was a major plot point in their story. I believe that they were asked back for TAR11 solely because of their rivalry with Rob & Amber. Did Ken & Tina have such an intense rivalry with another team?

The videographic evidence from the episode (different taxi interiors) that supported the explanation of what happened as explained by Dallas once the episode aired, essentially that the camera crew needed to recharge their packs, IIRC, and unloaded and then reloaded the backpacks and the fanny bag in a different way that Dallas had them in the taxi. (This is how the fanny pack with the passports were found later than day or that night, and were turned into the US Embassy in Moscow the next morning.) The other instances involving misplaced passports did not have this element of production actions involved, which is what made it different, IMHO.
Given what happened this season (TAR 17) in St. Petersberg with the piano detour, I don't think it inappropriate to suggest that Toni/Dallas should have at least been offered the opportunity to be considered for TAR 18. YMMV.

Definitely a " 2nd chance" theme because all stars was not recieved well the first time around. With that said , everyone chosen has a well deserved spot and people need to stop looking at the fact that it's not their perfect cast and look at the bigger picture !

Hmm, then this season will just be a season where TAR will just visit places which are beautiful so that the people can be "trained to use HD equipment"? No India, Africa or any other less developed countries? I know Japan is a good location.. but passing through another country which they only visited once is kind of saddening. And of course, Indonesia.. i wonder when they'll finally visit that country.

That happens to a lot of teams that end up getting eliminated. To be fair, not as drastic, but it happens. I can't blaim the producers for not inviting back Azaria & Hendekea. They were strong but not a team I think stands out from the other characters of that season. We all have our favorites though.

It is true that the extremely smart brother and sister did not have an appealing storyline. They were just a good team and were not painted as anything more b\c they did not last long enough to count. They definitely don't have enough of a following to return.

I also suspect that insurance costs to shoot in certain locales have gone up as the overall TAR Classic budget has been reduced. I'm still kind of impressed that they were able to film in Sri Lanka during something of a lull in Tamil Tiger activity. IMO, that's a more dangerous place than Indonesia or Colombia.
Back to the squees. I'm very glad to see Kynt and Vyxsin for a second time around. They're one of those teams that amused me with seemingly random skill sets like Vyxsin's cheerful "I used to macrame" or Kynt breaking out his old high school marching band moves on a Detour task.

This.The only negative thing about them was the fact that they gave up and encouraged Mica to give up. other than that they worked hard and got along well whilst remaining optimistic and entertaining. I like em, but then again I like the cowboys who alot of people seem to also hate.

Like I was saying, everyone has teams they like and don't like. We are not all the same and have different opinions, I think the Race does a pretty good job of creating casts that appeal to different groups of people. Because of this there will always be teams I don't like and teams I really want to win. These will be different from everyone else's choices. As far as TAR 18 I am pulling for Gary and Mallory and Jet and Cord. :hearts:

I have never understood why all you dont like FT and BE.......they are fun to watch and Flight Time has been a fan since about Season 1........They play the game fairly and work hard.
This.The only negative thing about them was the fact that they gave up and encouraged Mica to give up. other than that they worked hard and got along well whilst remaining optimistic and entertaining. I like em, but then again I like the cowboys who alot of people seem to also hate.

I guess if you have never been to a Globetrotter show.....then you could really think they were being mean to Myka............in real life they are like circus clowns......motivating people to achieve things they think they cant.......lots of CBS editing in that scene with Myka......

The thing with Romber is that they were either "the best thing that happened to TAR" or "famewhores taking advantage that they're celebrealities, ruining TAR for all the other teams". His quitting the RB was quite controversial because he was trying to manipulate other teams to quit as well, thus generating a lose-lose situation. It was smart in that aspect. But IMO, this kind of mental play seems weird in TAR (like Louie & Michael convincing Brent & Caite to U-Turn Carol & Brandy).
But back to the current cast, it feels kind of weird seeing all the comments of people being glad about the teams that are being eliminated. I feel like this season the fans will be more like "ooh, I hope this team loses" than "I wish this team wins".

Like I was saying, everyone has teams they like and don't like. We are not all the same and have different opinions, I think the Race does a pretty good job of creating casts that appeal to different groups of people. Because of this there will always be teams I don't like and teams I really want to win. These will be different from everyone else's choices. As far as TAR 18 I am pulling for Gary and Mallory and Jet and Cord. :hearts:

I like to see real people running the race with their emotions coming out unexpectedly, not some cookie-cutter semi-celebs who think they are on the race to further their career or because America loves them.

There is no evidence that this season will even be called an all-star season. There has been speculation that it is more of a second-chance race for teams who were eliminated in unfortunate ways.
Ok...that would maybe make some sense...but where is our beloved Toni & Dallas?? LOL

I miss season 13 too :'( :'( :'(......Toni/Dallas and Ken/Tina surely are great.....
I also think the inclusion of 3 alpha-male/dominating teams would make-up for the early elimination of male teams in season 17 and/or because all-female teams rules season 17.
Instead of Amanda/Kris, they could also put Lorena/Jason who had the unfortunate situation of getting U-turned at their season...
Anyway, adding to the discussion before, I will also wait the time when they visit Indonesia, my lovely, full of disastrous country with huge beautiful sightings on top of that....

By what stretch of the imagination are Maria and Tiffany or Mika and Canaan All Star teams? Maria and Tiffany were average at best, and I wouldn't include Mika unless I wanted to make a "Make everybody quit because they are too afraid to do everything" season.

It wasn't me!! There was a lot of info early on that this might NOT be called an AllStars season. What they end up calling it is in TPTB's hands...I can just say that ALLStars was not mentioned initially, but may have been heard later. So could go either way. They called TAR 11 AllStars, and there was a huge outcry then that it really wasn't, so who knows??

They, presumably means WRP or CBS, but I'm not a mind reader, either.
I'm pretty convinced from a interview Bert gave some time ago (that he wouldn't do another "All-Stars") that 17 will not be called "All Stars," and CBS isn't going to try to. Return of the Racers is what 11 should have been called, the way it was cast; and that wouldn't be out of line with this season either.
But we had some weird goings on with the Family Edition and the clue envelopes and editing, as if the decision to use "Family Edition" for that season wasn't made until filming was underway, and some of the footage that was aired for that season tended to support that deduction. So it's entirely possible they haven't yet decided what it is going to be called, and whatever it is going to be called will be added in post-production.

I suppose I was the one who invented the title, but it only makes sense, since they called TAR 11, TAR: All Stars.
I'm mainly just completly bored and frustrated.

I like the idea of "second chances," but I'm not thrilled with this cast.
Amanda/Kris: Boring couple, cast for eye candy and seemed nice enough, but not memorable per se. Don't really care how they do.
Mel/Mike: Loved these guys--funny, great attitude with locals, tasks, circumstances, used their heads well during tasks (just not on the gorilla thing)--wanted them to do well
Jaime/Cara: A bit condescending to locals, which is the first thing to set me against a team. Cast for eye candy, recast for eye candy and perhaps controversy. Not a memorable team the first time around.
Zev/Justin: Funny, brutally honest yet somehow still open-minded. Sad to see them go the first time, hope they do really well
Ron/Christina: The man who made the biggest changes over the course of the race and really understood the value of the relationship as a part of the race. Fun the first time around, curious about the second time around. I like them more than some, and I wouldn't mind having them in for awhile, though it remains to be seen if I'll root for them fully.
FT/BE: Funny, understood the race, have character, but when things got too tough they quit. That annoyed me. Other than that, though, they were fun, and I wish them well enough . . .
Kynt/Vyxsin: A cute couple, and I liked them the first time. I wouldn't mind seeing them do well . . .
Kisha/Jen: I mostly liked them, but they weren't hugely memorable to me, either . . .
Margie/Luke: I never understood the HUGE popularity this team had the first time around. Indifferent at best . . .
Gary/Mallory: Nice enough (though her voice sometimes gets to me, but that's not really her fault), but not terribly exciting . . .
Jet/Cord: They had their fun/funny moments, but they (well, Jet) occasionally showed hints of nastiness (not cut throat competitiveness, but nastiness)
I would have loved to see:
S12--Nate/Jen, maybe Azaria/Hendekea (I mostly liked this cast, so I wouldn't mind seeing most of them back)
S13--Toni/Dallas, Kelly/Christy (mostly for the nice blend of sass, stupid mistakes, and moments of brilliance), Mark/Bill (funny!), and, because I'm from Eugene, Anita and Arthur (loved this cast, too--they could take most of them and I'd be happy)
S14--They already cast them all, and of all the seasons this was one of my least favorite casts--I'd keep Mel/Mike
S15--They got the teams I liked, though I wouldn't have minded Gary and Matt again
S16--would've loved to see the detectives on again, and I guess the cowboys were okay, but otherwise I wasn't thrilled with this cast.
S17--Nat/Kat and Brooke/Claire are fun, and I wouldn't have minded seeing the Conner/Jonathan again
There are some teams where I never understood the hype (Jordan/Jeff, Margie/Luke, Jet/Cord)--I liked them all well enough, but I just didn't get why they were so incredibly popular.
Oh, and teams cast for eye candy simply annoy me.

Here's my problem. I would have loved this to be an "All-Star" season. By All-Star, I mean top 5-6 teams from previous seasons:
Ron/Christina
Kynt/Vyxsin
Cowboys
Jaime/Cara
Globetrotters
Margie/Luke
Gary/Mallory
Are all good with me. Kisha/Jen are good because they were top 4, but I can't get over the fact that a challenge such as swimming the length of a pool and back was such a struggle with them. They made top 4, but I think that might have been due to a weaker cast of characters.
With those 8 in place, put in Ken/Tina, Dallas/Toni, and Brandy/Carol and you have a race.
I know Brandy/Carol are no longer together, but I think that unless they just had a nuclear-powered breakup, they would be willing to put aside their differences to race again.

Ok, if this is supposed to be a "second chance" edition as some of you are speculating, then the cast still doesn't make sense. Half the teams weren't screwed over in any way. Teams like Jaime/Cara and Jet/Cord simply lost, fair and square. If they use the term "second chance" very loosely, simply meaning teams that didn't win, there are about 30 teams from the last 6 seasons alone who would be better than Amanda/Kris.
Personally, I think they really love TAR14 and think everyone else does, and wanted to do an all star edition with some random TAR14 teams thrown in. Hell, they even had two TAR14 teams as alternates. That's the only way this cast makes any sense.

I personally am also upset that there is a lack of Season 13. 13 was the first season I saw (thank you travel channel for marathoning it!) I absolutely got hooked on this show, and then proceeded to watch all the seasons online because of it. So I'm super bummed that they didn't get ANYONE. Heck, Mark/Bill could've used a second chance if it's based on that instead of being "All Stars". I'm fine with the surplus of season 14, I'm probably in the minority rooting for Jamie/Cara...though I really don't understand the Mel/Mike being there...I'm honestly scared for his health.
I also think it'd be really cool to see Nick/Starr, Megan/Cheynne, and Victor/Tammy duel it out since they pretty much completely dominated their seasons...wishful thinking I suppose.
I say bring it on Season 18. I'm pumped for it!

Another website is stating that Gary/Mallory and Ron/Chris have been spotted along with Kynt/Vyxsin, Globtrotters and Cowboys.
They are also saying that Kisha/Jen have been spotted on a train, not in a hurry and no camera crew around them.
They are coming to the conclusion that there have been 3 legs after Jaime/Cara's eliminated, and that Zev/Justin, Margie/Luke and now Kisha/Jen have been eliminated.
Making the final 5 Goths, Globtrotters, Cowboys, Ron/Chris and Gallory.
OHH EMM GEE <33333 This (minus the Globetrotters and Cowboys) is the best ever combination in the whole world to happen!!

If the F5 really was Jet/Cord, Globetrotters, Goths, Gallory, and Rontina, I would fully expect Gallor and Rontina to go 4th and 5th, Goths to be Bill/Joe'd, leaving us with the worst Top 2 teams ever. I don't have enough faith in the TAR Gods to give us a F3 of Kynt/Vxysin, Ron/Chris, and Gary/Mallory.

Uchenna and Joyce were my only winning team. Loved them, and had such admiration for her that she would shave her head for the one roadblock. That was something. :cmas16

make SURE you watch Season 12!! (Also watch seasons 5 and 6)
Those seasons, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 17 are the top 6 seasons in TAR IMO

I tend to be pretty content with the winners, as long as they ran a decent race without stirring up too much conflict with the other teams (unfortunately, this does not include TAR 11).
Really, I've learned not to base my judgment of a season of the cast results but rather applaud good route and task design by the producers (which was recently lacking until TAR 17).

You're more lucky. I don't think i've ever got a personal favourite i supported from the very beginning and went on to win. But that's because i generally pick all-female teams to root for. Imagine if Nat and Kat win this season, they will be the ONLY team i rooted for to win from the very beginning and like them best out of the entire season cast (although this season cast is hard not to like!). Tammy and Victor came very close too, but that's because season 14 had an awesome cast too! (that explains the overflowing of teams in allstars)
I'm just hoping that, FT and BE don't make the F3. Or best, miss out again at F4 like Oswald and Danny. BUT, i love Oswald and Danny and hated that they got eliminated fourth. But FT and BE's elimination news will make my day.

I'm just hoping that, FT and BE don't make the F3. Or best, miss out again at F4 like Oswald and Danny. BUT, i love Oswald and Danny and hated that they got eliminated fourth. But FT and BE's elimination news will make my day.
And if this happens, FT & BE will forever go down as being Cha Cha Cha'ed on the Amazing Race. Though for a good laugh (just from me), I'd label Ron/Chris and Kynt/Vyxsin as being Cha Cha Cha'ed if they finished 2nd and 5th, respectively. Basically it's a nice term for teams that twice finished in the Top 5, did not win, but placed in the exact same spot as they did in their original race.

Not more of anti-cowboys, but anti alpha-male teams. Cowboys are generally okay based on edit from what we've seen from TAR 16.. but i'm not that sure if that's the same in real life...

I hate the cowboys because they are homophobic. They made a derogatory comment towards Dan and Jordan for no reason at all. Many people I know hate the Cowturds because of this.

They have gotten the "good" edit when they really were bad people. The editors have shoved them in our faces in their season. Not to mention their annoying theme song that plays when they complete a task. Don't get me started on their lame catchphrases.

Kevin/Drew (subsequently did poorly on AR11 All-Stars)
Derek/Drew
Jon/Al (one of the worst eliminations ever, as this was one of my all-time favorite teams)

While I've read some reports about Jet's alleged comments (note that it seems to have only been Jet, not Cord) to or about Dan and Jordan, I've not read the context or circumstances concerning the allegations sufficiently to form an opinion.
Did Jet have too much to drink? Certainly a possibility since there did not seem to be any other incident of that nature before or after that one night.
I thought they were probably the best racing team of TAR 16, and while their skill set wasn't perfect, they certainly knew how to make up for their mistakes, and in other seasons such teams were often the winners.
It's pretty clear to me from looking at the newest version of the application, that casting is deliberately looking for teams with a flaw that may or may not impact their ability to win. With that said, I seriously doubt we will ever see a pure "alpha" male team on the Race again unless they are flawed in some significant way.

Season 14 was the most physical (overall) in a while, and one of the only ones (since) where no one quit! Maybe the producers just thought that the cast of S14 deserved it more than others...

Hopefully they'll do something for TAR20 (Big 20) and combine the best of the first 10 seasons with some of the most recent 7 (including TAR19).
Anyway, as mentioned, there will be a lot of disappointed people mid-January or so when the official 11 teams are released on the main site.

That's very sad to hear... but honestly, the baby is a much bigger joy than racing on TAR 18! Honestly, there's always a chance that the producers will call them back again for a REAL, MEGA, Allstars. It took Survivor 20 seasons to have an awesome Heroes VS Villians too, right? :kisses

I agree, I would much rather see B/C than Mel and Mike. I can see why they were asked and the producers are probably as dissapointed as the rest of us that they couldn't.
But let's face it, the whole Unfinished Business thing sounds nice but they are just trying to avoid calling it an All-Stars 2.

I am about to give you some advice that also applies to anyone else new to RFF. I know that you have recanted the statement above. However, it is incumbent on all newbies to READ THE THREADS in their entirety for any Amazing Race subject that you wish to comment on, preferably when you first join or even earlier than that. If you had done that on this same thread, you would have discovered back on November 22 that the entire cast of AR18 was known based on observations made in the Sydney area. My recommendation for all newbies is general, that you should all read every thread for AR18 now (and keep up with them over time).

From a personal standpoint, I enjoyed TAR 12 after Lorena and Jason were eliminated. 14 was fun, but I have no desire to see almost half of them again. 15 was great until Cambodia's elimination (friggin' passports) but I got over it in Estonia. 16 was meh to me, though I really liked Steve and Allie and the Cowboys. The only reason more 16 would need to happen is if Season 19 was The Amazing Race: "Killer" Rivalries (i.e. Brandy/Carol vs. Brent/Caite, neither of whom peaked my interest) 17 had a lackluster season overall, but made up for it with the first F/F win. Hopefully, 18 will be great

What you don't understand is that, Big Easy was working on that task for 3 hours. He had no clue at all. It was more strategic to take a penalty then rather than later. You can say that you don't like quitters, but mostly everyone would do the same thing, if they were in that situation.

If I were doing that roadblock, I would've finished the puzzle portion in 10 minutes tops
It's not that hard to figure out, and if you came at it with any form of a strategy at all (which all other teams did), you would've been able to do the same

I guess pure psychology frazzled his mind, esp. at such a late stage in the race. IIRC, he said he thought he had already answered FRANZ, but clearly he didn't.
I wonder how long he was actually at that ask.

I think that season 14 is one of (competitively) the weakest casts ever. I don't know how these girls committed to the race when one of them had such a terrible fear of swimming. She could have got in the pool and walked down and back or something. I think in any other season, they're a top 6-7 team, but nowhere near as close as they got to F3.
The Globetrotters...
Big Easy has to get that challenge. I know he said he thought he had guessed it before, but you have to try some again or something. Especially when he was told it started with F.
I give FT and BE the edge because he did think he had guessed it, but both of these have to be two of the biggest collapses in F4 history.

Apparently, he never took a statistics or literature class in high school. Using permutations to figure this puzzle out would be easy, and knowing who Franz Kafka is would really help. I would finish this task easily.
But using COMMON SENSE would work best, which is something he didn't have.

He was told that the word starts with an "F" there are four letters remaining right, another 4 possible combinations and there are like 16 words possible.
It would have taken 20 minutes to figure out.

Actually, more people would want to join the race just because they want to overcome their fear! And if you have the fear, why will it barricade you from joining? The race is not all swimming! It doesn't make sense.

I'm reasonably certain that they would not be able to stand up in an olympic pool.
At 6 foot 4 and (roughly) the same height as the two, I cannot stand up in a full size olympic pool.

"Olympic" sized swimming pools really only means that it is 50m long. Over the years the other dimenstions have changed. In times past, the outside lanes......1 and 8 had the side of the pool as a boundry. That has changed, due to the fact that the wave motion reflecting off the wall slows down the swimmers in those two lanes.....so they are wider now and have an extra lane outside Lane 1 and Lane 8. The depth has gotten deeper also for the same reason. The deeper the pool, the less the swimmers have to fight the reflected wave motion from the bottom of the pool.
In the 70's, my university built an "Olympic" sized pool for the use of the students. With the exception of the diving area, I can/could stand on the bottom anywhere in the pool. It was not made for inter-university competions.
Since it was fairly new, I dont doubt that the pool used in TAR 14 was over 7' deep. It was not the pool used for Olympic competion, but most assuredly was used for practice during the Olympics.

dont hate on TAR 14. at least it had a very diverse cast, and some character development of the teams made good tv. it might not be in top 5 seasons but is certainly the worst ): thats the reason that so many teams made it on unfinished business as well

FWIW, the best part about the Kafkablock was that the very first clue in that leg directed teams to a Kafka statue. Any team that took 30 seconds to stare at the weird statue would probably have blitzed through the task. :snicker:
I'm still a little miffed over there not being anyone from TAR 13. It had a fairly strong cast that gets sort of forgotten due to its winners (who weren't even that bad, I thought). Any of the top 6 teams (save Nick/Starr for various reasons) could legitimately have been cast on UB.

the only people from tar 13 that would deserve to be in unifnished business are Toni & Dallas and Ken & Tina who were the only 2 entertaining teams

That's like half the season and only 3 countries? And it doesn't help that India and China has been so overly, heavily used for the past 392428409848 seasons.
Not forgetting that the last episode is in the USA. And i remembered it used to be such a big thing for TAR to visit new locations and they'll keep the route a secret.. now they don't even care and seemed to be focusing more on team dynamics.

I think the emphasis this time around was having the sort of backdrops that would shine in HD. Second, for some of the countries used, there are so many distinct regions or areas than the fact the Race has been to some areas or regions of China, or India, doesn't mean there usn't a lot of new things to see. Compare the Races that have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Bangkok, Mumbai, Rio; and even Southern California (which is probably the only area that may have been mined to death).
There's also the consideration of safety in filming, some countries aren't as prudent to film in right now as they may have been a decade ago and that also influences destinations.

For not the first time I will express a starkly different attitude than you. Yes, AR18 is revisiting Australia, India and China. Here is the land area of those countries:
China 3.72 MM sq.miles
Australia 2.97 MM sq.miles
India 1.27 MM sq.miles
Russia is the world's largest country in area, Canada is a surprising (to me) second, China 3rd, US 4th, Brazil 5th, Australia 6th, India 7th. I personally have been on a huge arc through China by rail, most of India by rail and just a small 300 mile stretch of the northeastern Queensland Coast by bus. The list of interesting sights that have not yet been visited by any Amazing Race in those countries are astounding. Here are a few examples with the largest population:
China - Guangzhou, Shenzen, Tianjin, Chongqing, Dongguan, Nianjing, Wuhan (note all of these are larger than all U.S. metro areas except New York, Los Angeles and Chicago)
India - Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad
Australia - Hobart, Adelaide (airport transfer point in AR2 does not count), Alice Springs, Uluru, Melbourne, Canberra
Plus there are many smaller cities that provide reasons for amazing Races to visit. Having the Amazing Race visit those countries instead of a new country is perfectly OK with me. The fact that AR18 only adds Liechtenstein to the list of countries visited by amazing Races is not at all a disappointment to me as long as the places that are visited are interesting.
I expect AR18 visits to Broken Hill, Ljjiang, Varanasi, and Zermatt to be very interesting. Of that group, I have only been to Varanasi and Zermatt but can assure all AR18 viewers that both are fascinating places. So, I suggest that the country list may now be an obsolete yardstick by which to measure the variety of Amazing Race routes. You should look beyond the country list and examine the details ow where a race actually goes.

While it does seem like TAR visits India, China, and Australia a lot, there are diverse locations in these areas as apskip stated. TAR18 did choose some off-the-beaten-path locations in these countries. At least it seems that way to me.

I do know that China and India are one of the world's biggest countries in terms of land mass and that it is inevitable the race keeps visiting them because of the many unexplored locations by WRP.
I'm happy that they're no longer visiting the main capitals/cities of India/China.. but i do want to see more other countries being explored, like Cambodia/Taiwan (please don't start a discussion about whether Taiwan is considered a country or not) and The Philippines. They've only been there once!
New locations are good as long as they're not being re-used by the race over and over again. But i'm just saddened by the fact that it's always China (because of the language barrier = GOOD TV) and India (because of the people, the culture shock = GOOD TV). There are other countries and locations that will bring about language barrier and cultural shock as well.. if you know what i'm talking about.

I hate those teams in ep1 who helped each other. esp Kent & Vyxsin, Flight time and Big easy.
It's so not fair. the flags task. it is supposed to be a time consuming and 'use your brain' task. not 'use your mouth' !
It's ok to give each other a little bit help on the route or task info (that shows what friends do and genuine care) , but not telling the answer completely!
They are just using each other ! Don't fake to be friends when in the end you still need to race against each other.
I would like to see a clean and positive race! It's negative already ! I think its even ok sometimes to play dirty like Rob and Amber (although i find them disgusting!) . Work independently and get help from a third party using your personal charm and effort and even money!
I hope those teams in ep 1 will eventually hate and u-turn each other.
So far, my favorite season is 16. I guess lots of people hate that season because they think most of the teams are dumb.
it is the only season i see teams work independently (except the only time joe and heidi holding spots for the lesbians. )

help doesn't ask for return. when you are using each other, you think 'this guy owes me this time'.
that's what they all think about each other right now. eg, Zev and justin, Flight time and big easy.

no, it's not that
cowboys haven't won a stop so far in S18.
And they have been placed in the middle range....
Normally the strongest and the weakest get more airtime, that's understandable
but its just i see lots of pure repetition in S18. And no highlights so far.....
and you've reminded me that cowboys seem to get the least airtime, maybe its just their cameraman got lazy and didn't get enough stuff to show.

I suprised to read your comment, cause for me this season is fun and funny... Big Easy and Flight time, Ron, Mallory.. is really light up the show...
The last episode in china, really make me laugh when watched it.. when big easy and flight time yelled out all the zodiacs cause they don't know which one is theirs, Ron with his Hungry mode all the time..
Maybe just the way you looked at it make you not feel excited... but I think overall with all the constestants.. it's a fun season :)

maybe its because i'm Chinese, I hear people say, i'm dog, i'm snake all the time...... :lol:
the main reason i think its less funny and excited could be all teams are strong.... they almost did all the tasks at the same time...that would make editing more diffucult....not enough drama for each team on their way to the tasks compared to previous seasons. I did enjoy 'ron & his hungry mode'.
But,for example, for Kent and Vyxsin's poor navigation episode, i just saw lots of repetition, the scenes are poorly edited.

It certainly sounds like it because the consensus is that FT/BE were between half an hour and an hour ahead at the U-Turn point.

If they were as far behind as I've heard, they wouldn't have had a chance of beating that U-Turn.
I'm fine with it, though. They were the only team whose inclusion I was strongly against, so I'm glad they're finally out. They weren't really that strong of a team, anyway.

Why have so many finales been decided by the random antics of cabbies?! Gary and Mallory were taken out of contention from the beginning because their's could not find the way. Flight Time and Big Easy lost the lead they had been maintaining the whole time when their taxi just left them. They never regained that time margin they lost by searching for another cab.
Obviously the key ingredients for winning a TAR finale are racing hard and being lucky enough to get a competent cab driver. :lol:
Like I say every year, why won't WRP make finales self driving?!?! (:;)

To be fair, Gary and Mallory really should have gotten out of that cab when they knew something was up. One important thing on the race is learning damage control to minimize unlucky delays.
Still hate Sterling though.

It's hard to make the decision to get out and hope you can find another free cab going down the highway.
I just really think that in the finale they should eliminate those kinds of variables.

I can't agree with letting teams self-drive on the last leg. You'd likely have reckless driving caused by the sleep deprivation, lack of knowledge about the area, and huge incentive for being fast.
Hired drivers, however, I think so.

I will give you three good reasons. The use of taxi drivers, which appear to be much more variable in quality than you might expect, causes unpredictability in the final leg. Also, World Race Productions favors that over earned, predictable endings. Finally, teams are always coming into the U.S. on flights lasting 8 hours or more and would not be particularly safe self-drivers.

However, Peach did not get the time right. TAR Australia is at 830pm MONDAY night, so that does in fact mean 630am on Monday on the East Coast U.S. (I know it's 14 hours time difference most of the year due to my daughter living in Queensland).
