Yep it was a starting elimination (not immediately though)

Spoiler below
Show content
There were only tickets for 10 teams at the airport, so the 11th team arriving who didn't get tickets, would be eliminated at the airport.

1st leg - Dubai
There was a detour and a roadblock
It included the infamous leap of faith water slide as well

A fairly easy leg I would say, but the main thing that annoyed me was that the TV channel split the episode for a news/weather break for over 40-45 minutes. They completely destroyed the flow of the episode like that  (:;)

Episode was okay, not quite the standards of the US version. I need to see more episodes to make any conclusion. A fairly good start I would say.

So, I ofcourse watched the show! I think it was a good opening, although the roadblock and one side of the detour was lame...The routemarkers was great I think. Some teams weren't shown as much as others but that may be because they seem a bit boring...

Viewers: 388 000 - 465 000. TV2 is pleased, and few turned the show off, and almost everyone turned on their TV again after news, sports and weather which split the program in two. That's a good sign! It also have had lots of positive reviews in newspapers and internett forums and on facebook.

lol, I watched it in norwegian despite not knowing a single word. It's an interesting way to watch, but honestly I got nothing. I'm hoping for a link to an English subtitled version.

it really is a strange way to watch, I relied on watching what people were doing to figure out the task (that's pretty easy) and as for what teams were thinking, I looked at facial expression and tone of voice.

but seriously, we need a english subtitled version
Title: Re: TAR Norway SHOW DIscussion! Includes ALL episodes!
Post by: kevin2012 on April 12, 2012, 02:54:52 PM
There is the occasional english dialogue, but I rely monstly on body language and tone. I already like the twins Frank and Ivar.

On the foreign version itself, it's actually pretty intense at times, I'm genuinely impressed. The editing is sub-par but it's tenseful and I wonder what it would be like if I could understand.

I like a lot of the differences, for example the music, it's less traditional and more like movie music. It really makes some parts seem like a movie (like the first elimination)

I only watched the first few minutes basically out of sheer curiosity.   :-[
For the rest of it I will wait till the translation is done since I know this is in the works, and it really IS hard work indeed.
Lots of respect if this person gets it done, truly. It's a nearto herculean effort for sure.

I think I understood a few words basically because they sometimes resembled or were exactly identical even to Dutch and sometimes German.  :) But I still feel I really miss a lot especially when there is more talk going on, so I will wait before I watch the rest of it because I think it will be even more enjoyable to watch if I can really know all that is going on.  :)

It's definitely looking promising though from what I have seen sofar, so I'm really looking forward to watching the episode, whenever it may be done (no problem to wait a while, it's definitely worth the wait to me!)  :)

Ok, I don't understand Norwegian, but I'll do my best with a recap. (Slight edit: of course, immediately after writing this I find...something.)

It's the first snowy starting line of The Amazing Race! There's Freddy standing on the top of Holmenkollbakken, a ski jump in Oslo. He introduces the teams. They are:

Morten & Truls- Brothers. They're also good friends. They consider themselves lucky to work at a toy store. They see everything as positive.
Karim & Khabat- Friends/mates. They're waiters who don't like losing. The say they are they aren't the best losers in Oslo. In fact they are the worst losers. (I find this slightly funny)
Bjarne & Vilde- Friends. A male/female friend team! They're lounging around on a boat. "We throw ten balls up in the air and see how many we catch when they come down."
Pål Christian & Ivar- Third Cousins. There're work in a pub, and were friends before they found out they were related. People won't see them as a threat, they say. They're also single. Ladies?
Tor Einar & Cathrine- Father/Daughter. They want to get to know each other more. Dad is the boss.
Julie & Vichy- Girlfriends. They might not be the best, but they're good. They finish their intro with a toast and I instantly think of Joe & Bill. Also, Vichy has an entire copy of Moby Dick tattooed on her wrist.
Martha & Elise- Sisters. Ok, I'm glad I found this part translated. They're talking about how their parents are nudists and how other people might see this as weird.
Ivar & Frank- Twins. They say they blame each other for problems. They are shown picking out clothes at the Salvation Army, although the store they were at looked much fancier than my local Salvation Army. They're also wearing about 7 scarves.
Cathrine & Michelle- Best Friends. They say they do everything together. They're at a zoo with some kids and are holding a really big snake. Later they are seen eating dessert with the same kids. Why wasn't the snake invited?
Kari & Bjørn- Married. The oldest team this season, and the second team whose name is an inconvenience to my English keyboard. In their spare time they like to decapitate birds and stand in the middle of nowhere.
Kenneth & Hakan- Co-Workers. Hakan just got his drivers license. Kenneth is as bad a navagator as he is out of shape. They say they won't win. That's really encouraging.

Ok, now everyone is standing in a field of snow next to the ski jump. Typical host speech that we've all heard, but then everyone gasps, which I'm guessing that Freddy just told them that only 10 teams will leave the country. Ready, set, go! Everyone runs to the clues on their backpacks. And we've already got a task! On a nearby fence there are two boards for each team. One contains 20 country flags and the other has a phrases in three different languages. They must match the flag to the appropriate language (Russia, United Arab Emirates, and China) When they show the correct flags to Freddy they can get in their car and get a recorded message. Most teams get it quickly, but the Twins and Cathrine & Michelle struggle and work together. Kari & Bjørn take the longest but eventually get it. Kenneth & Hakan get lost despite leaving 6th, because this is one of their first times driving! Some of the teams are crazy drivers en route to the airport.

At the airport, teams must find their clue at 1 of 4 locations (Information desk, lost property, cafe, and assistance). There are only a few clues at each, so teams have to find the place that still has one. Not much of a problem, except for a few teams. Cathrine & Michelle and Martha & Elise are constantly in racing each other, but each place they find is already out of clues. Kari & Bjørn arrive at the airport later than all but one team but find a clue quickly. Kenneth & Hakan have finally found the airport, and they plan on heading straight to the information desk, which happens to be where the remaining clues are. Who gets there first? The girls do, and there is a lot of jumping and screaming. Freddy eliminates the Co-Workers and Hakan throws a fit, ripping off his mic and throwing down his pack, but I don't blame him. But hey, they were right. They didn't win.

Oh, but where do the clues take them? Dubai! Everyone is on the same flight. When they arrive, they must find a camel owner named Hassan (There is a Hassan for each team). Hassan will take them to his car and drive them outside the city to their next cluebox. The Twins and Sisters once again are having trouble, and once again work together to find their Hassans. At the next cluebox a team member must get on a camel while the other guides it around a course. Cathrine & Michelle arrive first, but after one of them slides forward and is in a position that would be extremely uncomfortable to one of the guys, camel handler has to readjust the blankets. The girls and Bjarne & Vilde finish the task at about the same time. The Cousins arrive toward the front but also have trouble with their camel. The sisters and twins arrive much later and one of the sisters is almost trampled by the camel. And this brings me to a question. Why do some teams from the foreign versions have trouble speaking English, but always know how to curse in it?

Teams must now travel to the Atlantis Resort on the Palm Jumierah, say goodbye to Hassan, and search for an aquarium. Roadblock! One of them has to dive down and grab a clue from a tank that has rays and sharks! Nobody has much trouble with it. Next clue, it's time for every Amazing Race fan's favorite waterslide- The Leap of Faith! Nobody freaks out. Teams have to go to the Gold Souk, but the monorail to it comes in an hour! Everyone catches up. So now teams have to ride a type of boat to the Gold Souk. Karim & Khabat arrive first and gets a large lead. Julie & Vichy get a private boat and shoo other teams away. Kari & Bjørn do something wrong, maybe they didn't take the boat? Ivar & Frank almost do something wrong here, but correct their mistake. Once teams get to the cluebox, they get have to do a detour. In one side, teams must load 10 large bags of tea(?) onto a boat. In the other detour, teams must first go to a specific jewelry store and get an address, at which they get another address, and here they get their clue. The strength one doesn't take long because the bags are right next to the boat, and the address detour has teams searching for one shop among the 3,000,000+ jewelry shops there. All but Martha & Elise do the strength side.

The next clue tells teams to go to the world's tallest building, also known as the Burj Khalifa or the Burj Dubai if you're like me and can't remember the correct name. On the way, Cathrine & Michelle freak out and tell the driver to turn around, but then change their mind. They were in the front of the pack and fell several places due to this, but what happened? If you don't speak Norwegian, will you ever understand what happened here? (Hint: keep reading.) Karim & Khabat and Julie & Vichy are the two teams in the lead. The waiters get to the cluebox on an observation deck first and it's the clue for the pitstop! Teams must now go to the nearby Burj Park! Go go go!!! Karim & Khabat are 1st, Julie & Vichy are 2nd, Bjarne & Vilde are 3rd. Kari & Bjørn arrive 4th but get a penalty for not taking the boats. Tor Einar & Cathrine, Morten & Truls, and Pål Christian & Ivar are 4th, 5th, and 6th. Cathrine & Michelle arrive and Freddy gives them their pack (the one with passports I think?). Apparently Bjarne & Vilde found it in a cab or somewhere and gave it to him. The girls are 7th. Ivar & Frank are 9th. It's down to the married couple waiting out their penalty and Martha & Elise. And..............................

Kari & Bjørn's penalty runs out and they can check in 9th. Martha & Elise are 10th but are not eliminated. Lucky them.

That's how I understood the episode at least.

That is so true  :lol3:. Reminds of the time I lived in the philippines end nearly everyone who asks me to teach them french wants to learn curse words first.

By the way, the teams do speak english frequently and I though they spoke it pretty well.

Anyway, good recap, I'd like to do one myself in the future

I enjoyed the premiere!  It's nice to add another version to The Amazing Race family, even with the language barrier!

I really hated that airport elimination  (:;) but I love the concept of finding the tickets in one of four locations.  The race to the different locations was pretty intense!  I would have preferred the last team receiving a Speedbump or some sort of penalty rather than elimination though.  It was nice to see a Roadblock, Detour, and some Route Infos on the first leg!  Oh, and no pitstop greeter.  :(

Overall, the cast seems pretty great so far.  I really like Martha & Elise but their performance on this leg was dismal.  They were at the bottom of the pack, if not in last, for the majority of the leg.  For a second, I though Martha (Martha & Elise) was going to have a Mika-moment at the Leap of Faith!  Hopefully they can recover on the next leg!

 :hello2:

As a long time follower of The Amazing Race US, being from Norway, I found it exciting but also odd to see a Norwegian version of the show.

I mean, who could have believed that little Norway would be able to find the resources and will for the (so far) first European version of the magnificent tv-series. Certainly not me, so all respect to the producers. Remember, they don't have the budget success that the US version has gained, so I guess that's why the first leg winners didn't get any prizes. TV2 says that if the first season is successful, they might produce a new one next year. It all depends on viewer interest and ratings.

Still, I found it very strange sometimes to watch this. I'm so used to Phil, and english speaking contestants, that I often times rolled my eyes in annoyance of small details happening during the episode. I'm not saying it was a bad show, it was certainly refreshing and different, but compared to the us version it was missing the special 'ooomph' I'm so accustomed to.

It was actually funny to see how Freddy dos Santos, the host, reacted to being a host for a tv show instead of a soccer player. He did remarkably well, though he didn't have the empaty on the pitstop mat as Phil often has. Freddy was more like 'yay-I'm-on-a-world-trip-with-my-new-found-buddies,-high-five' sort of thing
This was the impression I got, and it was pretty funny actually. This is not criticism, but personal observation.

I'm looking forward to Monday for a new episode, and I'm sure many of you are waiting in anticipation for a new fresh episode you won't understand a word of until subtitles are ready  :yess:  :hoot:

Ya'all need to go learn a new language just for this series

Have fun with the new member of The Amazing Race family. I know I will

Watched it (language differences aside), so far so good. The host was awesome.
The editing could use some improvement though.
I just have one complaint: Production people, cameramen, etc. are everywhere in the background. :umn:

Watched it without subtitles, know i'm gonna do it again because i did not understood a thing :D. But so far, so good. The episode had some good moments and bad. First of all that i swa was the fact that the episode was over 1 hour long. I thought, that was awesome, no 45 min episodes - but after watching the whole thing, i can easilly remove at least 30 minutes, because the editing was focused at teams, and in my opinion it should be focusing about the race. The beginning should be cut at least in half because talking, talking, talking was BORING. But then when the teams were in their destination, i thought that the race would be beginning - i was mistaken. I mean it could be the fact that i haven't understood a thing, but till the monorail the race was not abut racing eachother, just "enjoying the view". I mean seriously two last teams with the possibility of elmination, instead of searching for a driver they are talking politely with eachother. Are you serious? Another thing that i can blame the editors, was the lack of dynamics. In the first half of the episode i wasn't feeling the "Race" vibe.

Host is good, takes his job seriously. Was good to see Dubai, even if that was 3/4 of a copy of the American version of the leg. And i am waiting for more ;-).

Pretty ironic and sad that the guys who actually were from Oslo got lost in their own city on the way to the airport.  :o

Who lives in a city and drives through the city center to get to an airport anyway, and even more so: doesn't know how to get there?

Not sure whether to :( or to   but honestly I don't really think they would have had a shot anyway, considering they got lost in their own city more than people from other parts of Norway did. :P

Just finish watching this and I fell in love right away...!!  :hearts:

from the editing point of view, sound effect, and music insertion are wonderfully fantastic...  :colors

I am so amazed that it got stuck on my head for a day,

I don't know if anyone likes it, but the narration throughout the race is just something different than other version of TAR, and it does add to its uniqueness...  :hrt:

Can;t wait for the next episode, especially when they come to Melbourne  :hoot:

I really liked the starting line task, something so simple and yet it proved quite difficult for a lot of people. The editing, the jumping from one team to another, loosing the placings a little etc, reminded me a little of TAR 1. Other than that it was not bad, we show a leg packed with action, teams changing places all the time. It was interesting and I'm waiting for Ep 2, especially now that I got to know the teams a little, thanks to Polarbear's subs.

The Norwegian version is one of the best versions I've seen. And it's cool to watch friends of me on the Race.

Finally there's a Norwegian version too. Will definitely apply if there are more seasons to come.

Freddy is also doing a great job as the host, but I'm so used to Phil that it will take some time before I get used to Freddy as host of TAR. I still relate Freddy to football.

Can somebody do a recap of Leg 2? Was there a Speed Bump, Marked for elimination, robbery of euros krones for Martha & Elise?

Ooh, there's not even wikipedia information about Leg 2 yet, is there? I'll write something quick that will just be outlines, nothing exact. Important stuff is bolded

Okay, a quick recap of the last leg. Hakan & Kenneth eliminated and Martha & Elise saved in Dubai. Credits with Freddy talking over it. Is it a "The most daring competition ever attempted..."? That's actually a question for the Norwegians. Khabat & Karim leave at 9:52, so it might have been a 18 or 24 hour pitstop. Fly to New Delhi, India. The Twins think that New Delhi is in the airport(?), but all the teams all get on the same flight. Then they get on a bus to Agra. A few teams get on an express bus that leaves later, and for what might be the first time in TAR history, it also arrives later.

They go to the Red Fort and must find three guys with pieces to help them find their next clue. Four sides of the pieces have sentence fragments which should say "Shen Jehen's/ wife is next to/ the black throne". They have to not only find this lady, but also show her the correct sentence. Now teams ride on a horse carriage to some market to get their next clue. Detour! Teams have a choice between carrying a bunch of wool a few kilometers to a shop and hope that they have enough (there is no scale at the beginning), or design some tile art thing that honestly looks much faster. Only Bjarne & Vilde had to go back and gather more wool, which drops them from 1st to 7th.

Teams now go to someplace that is across the river from the Taj Mahal where they make dung cakes. I think they make 50, but they don't have to throw them on the wall. Next they take a basket of dried cakes and place them into a stylized pile that kind of reminds me of Carmen Miranda. Here is where Martha & Elise's Non-Elimination comes in. From what I understood, they were given a "Handicap". They (as Polar Bear describes below) had to make 50 dung cakes and stack the dried ones higher. After teams are done with the poo, they get the clue for the Roadblock. Do a jigsaw puzzle of the Taj Mahal. That's really it. When their done, teams run to the nearby pit stop (It's just north of the Taj Mahal across the river, if you want to see yourself.) And the great thing is how much Karim struggles with it. It was really bad. But the Cousins took too long to figure out the sentence from earlier. They get to the Roadblock and see 9 finished puzzles, so the one doing it quits the task right away, and they walk to the pitstop and are eliminated.

The "Handicap" was indeed a handicap. Martha and Elise had to make 75, not 50 dung cakes, and stack a higher stack of dung cakes in order to receive their next clue.

Oh, so they didn't skip making the dung cakes? It didn't show them making them. I better edit that part.

I personally think that season 20 i'ts been very crappy...  when a team is clearly superior to the others you have the same teams winning again and again at that makes the season really boring. Just remember that TAR lost the emmy because of the season where Megan & Cheyne won everyting. Also, my humble opinion is that the route and tasks haven't been good on TAR20 and I am getting tired of them going to India every time and always catching up teams in airports when they go to remote places like tanzania.

Now with Norway. Even though I don't speak Norwegian, this three episodes have been amazing. The episodes are really long and have so many tasks, no one has win a leg twice (yet), and there is so much mobility in the places, I just can't wait to see next episode. The couples are really interesting (I like the twins and the blond friends). The only things I don't like about this version is that there are no prizes for coming first and that the final prize is no much money (given that Norway is an incredibly rich and expensive country). Also Freddy's voiceovers every three seconds start to become annoying.

(My first post ever.. yey!!)

The Roadblock was that teams had to smash a block of ice until they could grab the clue. The blocks were rectangular and standing upright. The one doing the roadblock pushed over the block of ice. When she pushed it over, she was able to break the block by going through the much thinner side. No other team pushed the block over, so I think it's fair that they got a penalty, especially since they used their Express Pass and already had a huge lead.

Ah... I figured it might have been something like that. Still kind of a dumb thing to be penalized for. And I don't feel like it's a good thing they were penalized just because they used their express pass.
Title: Re: TAR Norway SHOW DIscussion! Includes ALL episodes!
Post by: Best Loser on April 24, 2012, 05:18:48 PM
Poor wording on my part. Let me rephrase that. I think that because they had such a large lead from using the Express Pass, they should have been more careful with reading their clues. Because they made silly mistakes even though they had no reason to rush, I feel that it was fair that they got a penalty for breaking the rules. If a bunch of teams made that mistake, I'd agree it was stupid.
Title: Re: TAR Norway SHOW DIscussion! Includes ALL episodes!
Post by: Maxine Rama on April 24, 2012, 07:07:21 PM
Ah, ok then. ^_^ I feel what made them burn their express pass was that crappy taxi driver they got from the fruit buying task to the puppet task. He obviously took them the long way around. I hate when taxi drivers do that to try and make extra money.

Can somebody please explain me what was the cheating part on the Roadblock??

...I just realized I'd been posting about the show in the speculation thread. I guess I'll explain it again here. The Roadblock was to retrieve a clue from inside an ice block using a hammer. The blocks were rectangular rather than cubes, and they were standing upright. Cathrine (or Michelle?) pushed the block over so that she was breaking through the thinner side.

So that this post isn't a repeat of the one in the other thread, I'll just state that this season is picking up. It has a completely different feeling than the US season, and it also feels different than Hamerotz LaMillion. I kind of like it. The only thing that will make it replace A Corrida Milionaria as my favorite foreign edition is if my favorite team gets eliminated, and it almost happened this leg.

Ok well just caught up from epi 2 to 5.  :o (Mainly because I was worried I would not be able to keep up otherwise!)
Man they definitely keep up the pace here!  :o

I was kind of waiting but I figured I will just watch them again with the subtitles if /when they are available, if I have the time to do so.
I realize it's an enormous amount of work for one person, even for one episode a week let alone two, though.  :o

Obviously I'm sure I missed out on quite a few things, but context and similarities between Dutch/German and Norwegian at least provided some clues.

I have to say I love the twins!!  :hrt:
They're so funny and awkward sometimes, they're too funny really.  :lol3:

The way they simultaneously interrogated one of the salespeople (woman I think) on the floating market in Bangkok whether they sold guava.. Wow that couldn't have been better coordinated if they had been synchronized swimmers..

Then their reaction to the chicken plucking and well the cobra restaurant (as much as I honestly also felt quite appalled by seeing that challenge tbh..). And seriously, 'creative twins' who are art teachers yet choose to smash a bamboo stick instead of making a flower braid?  :lol3:  :lol3: It cracked me up how many times it took them and how they went about it.. A little self-knowledge may not be a bad thing when you embark on a journey like this guys.

Thing is, even if they definitely don't always handle things properly (i.e. coming in in a good spot and then squandering it by not actually thinking before they act) they do seem to be lucky and doing ok, for now anyway.

Still liking the K-guys/chums and the brothers for potential winners. The Blondes do ok but make silly mistakes.
Making mistakes is one thing though but they don't correct them.. i.e. it was abundantly clear their Vietnamese taxi driver was completely clueless.. So why even stick around with that guy anymore and not switch taxi's?? They were lucky to hang on to the skin of their teeth because another team got a handicap.. Next time they may not be that lucky.

The ones that have been out so far were predictible, they simply weren't giving it enough. Feel bad for
Show content
Vilde
though I feel she did more than her share as opposed to her partner who didn't really seem to take much of an initiative in anything, even when she was near breaking at some point in Vietnam especially.  :( Kind of a deadweight to be pulling the way it seemed, but perhaps I missed a lot in translation, if so: sorry!

The pairs I like least of the remaining are
Show content
Vichy and whats-her-name
and
Show content
Bjorn and Kari
.
The first ones seem a bit bitchy at times, and not always very sociable. The latter well not sure really, they just seem a bit boring and not appealing to be rooting for. Again perhaps things get lost in translation though so I might feel differently if I understood everything that was said.. I just think the other couples are more interesting, even without translations.

Still I think you get a good general idea of what's going on, there's a bit of English spoken and the rest is more or less evident from the challenges too I think.

Oh and by the way, is it just me or is Freddie dos Santos (the host) always using the word 'dramatic' to describe any win, loss or almost loss (in NEL's case) for the previous episode?  :lol3:

All in all really enjoyable to watch sofar!  :)
Ps apparently Asia again in episode 6.. I really hope they move on to another continent after this.

Some sort of vegetable extract apparently but what did it taste like?

Also did Karim & Khabat try to mislead the brothers in Vietnam, by trying to make them think they had to go all the way to the top?
And what were Kari and Bjorn arguing about, it seems like they were arguing a lot?

Really liked leg 7 btw, really fun challenges.

Thanx so much for uploading leg 8!!  :hearts:

Honestly, not a lot of surprises to me at this stage.  :duno:
Sorry about the team that left though  :( - But they themselves seemed quite ok with it tbh.
I guess the next leg it might be the

the Blondes
though really it all depends on how they set up the traveltime/ teams catching up, and what kind of challenges they will get. These two are very persistent and strategic as well so if they don't mock up too much they may yet have a chance.  :)

There doesn't seem to be a u-turn (when I heard 'boomerang' I thought they might mean this  :lol3: ) - so it will all depend on little things mostly it would seem.
At the moment I am mostly rooting for
Show content
Karim and Khabat
and
Show content
the brothers
.
There's no team I would hate to see winning, but I just feel less attached to/ interested in
Show content
Kari & Bjorn - mostly since I don't feel they add much to the show although they are good runners all in all.
.
I think all the other teams that are left now, have shown a bit more spirit and eagerness to make it to the end. I know some things may have gotten lost in translation, but if I understood correctly the Norway version of TAR wants to set itself apart from all the bickering and that sort of reality tv thing (which I assume will suite the Norwegian public better?). I think that's a very good thing in fact because I feel couples can be entertaining or interesting enough without all that fluff and drama going on tbh, it basically distracts from what is essentially a very good concept with people using their skills, talents, ingenuity and EQ/ability to relate and learn from other cultures to learn and grow from the experience. I think all TAR series carry those aspects that bring out the better qualities in us all, and make us grow in the process. :)

Obviously under stress the darker side may be brought out too, but it's a matter of extent. And from what I have seen and understood sofar of the Norwegian version (though I confess not to understand every word I think I got the main things), they highlight the positive aspects far more than the bickering and rivalry (in fact I think I have seen teams help each other on several occasions on the TAR Norge version, without there being any 'alliance' talk as far as I could tell?).  :)

So, very good job on very good challenges, nice and endearing contestants (regardless of language-barriers) that are nonetheless competitive (without becoming insufferable as some have in TAR history imo), and making very entertaining and fun tv, without it being at the cost of someone.

I think a show like that would have a very good chance in the Netherlands too in fact.

All in all really enjoying the show but in the end still rooting for my two favorite teams, since I feel they would be slightly more deserving the way they handled things from day 1 basically.  :)

Enjoyable leg..  :)

Just a few remarks & questions I will put between spoilers for those who haven't been able to watch yet.

Show content
1. Didn't buy the whole police arrest for one second, it was clearly contrived and has been done on the Mole on several series.  :lol3:
Funny to see how some protested and bought into it though.. (the Blondes and the twins especially it seemed  :lol3: )

2. Felt the whole big 88 stories climb a bit of an anti-climax. I was expecting some kind of challenge on the top but all it was was a pitstop with a chasm beneath them (which alas we never really got to appreciate.  :'( They should have given a few shots of the deep so we could feel the same as viewers.  :ascared)

3. Another NEL.. I was figuring it would be since it was clear we are leaving Australia now and it seems to be a NEL almost every other episode. Quite a lot I think sofar. How many legs are there in total 13??

4. Did I understand correctly that Khabat and Karim took the penalty time in prison?

5. Kind of disappointed that it looks like we're back in Asia again. (China??).
Most of this whole series was spent there and by the looks of it, the remainder will too. I would have really liked them to go to Africa or S. America for a few legs too but perhaps this is a matter of budget..?  :duno:
I admit I always have a soft spot for Latin America so..  :hearts:
Still it was good to have 3 Aussie legs, did really enjoy those.  :)

1. I like how Karim & Khabat knew it was fake and played along.
3. I think there will be one more Non-Elimination. It is probably obvious when that one will be.
4. Only two teams figured out the riddle, I believe: Cathrine & Michelle and Frank & Ivar

Frank and Ivar were the only one to figure out. The couple were close but they went too far with the riddle. The riddle was  fairly simple: Guard says 12 prisoner replies 6. from these you had to figure out the riddle. The couple went too far and divided 3 to 1.5 and forgot to say 3.

They guessed the correct answer, but when the guard asked why that was the right answer they couldn't explain since they did not know why it was the correct answer. They did try to play the dumb-blonde card and pretended to be bad at explaining math in English. This got them nowhere.

Just caught up with episode 10.  :)

Fun leg, overall fun challenges I thought (diverse), and obviously the language barrier sometimes presenting an extra bit of a challenge in Hong Kong.

I wonder what was in those dim sum, they seemed to be quite chewy. :P

Why were the twins so emotional on that bus, was it because they thought they might be out of the race?
Also I was in stitches when one of them (can never tell which is which) was 'hiding' behind the Chinese man at the puzzle task, trying to see if the team behind them was coming.  :lol3:

Did Morten&Truls point Kari & Bjorn in the right direction (vaguely anyway..) when they asked for the clue on Times Square?
I think they said 'kino' (assuming this means cinema?), is that correct?

Also really loved the KungFu clue, very original.

Two things I didn't like so much:

Show content
1. Kinda disappointed that Michelle and Catherine didn't win the leg, they were doing so well. Also because K & K seemed to try to eavesdrop and spy on how the brothers made the puzzle. Kinda felt the blondes deserved the win more this leg.  :(

2. Yet another NEL... Bjorn and Kari getting in last for the second time in a row (not surprisingly as they had to do both detours).
I'm sorry but I think they deserved to be out now, it would feel a bit off if they survived next leg somehow, because getting two NEL's in a row is a bit much I think tbh.  :duno:
Just my two cents though.  :-[

PS:
A random question. Does anyone know why Morten and Truls always seem to wear these blue/white striped soccer shirts?  :lol3:
Are they a fan of Argentinian soccer maybe?  :duno:

That candle task when going pitstop was quite interesting aspect to this episode.
Also why does it feel like TAR Norway has bigger budget for their route than TAR USA.

asar, do you know which country will be visited on leg 12 (after Macau)? Was it shown in the preview of the next episode?

Is anyone able to provide the Norwegian Road Block hints (and for the first two episodes, their English equivalents)? Working on a guide to the show and I want to include them for the sake of completeness.

I think only two episodes are left, if the finale is on the 30th.

The English one for the first episode is "Who wants to take a swim?"
Sorry I can't help you with the other ones.

Ok so the first finalists were not really a surprise.  :lol3:

And I guess it's not really looking good for
Show content
the twins..  :(

Two questions:
1. What was the issue Karim & Khabat had with the chocolate?
Was it too much, didn't he like it or was it maybe a religious thing or something?
He seemed to be quite dramatic about it.

2. That national dish didn't look very appetizing tbh.  :duno:
What was it called, what kind of meat was that, it looked quite greasy? And I assume the milk was sour or something?

1. They just ate too much.

2. The milk was fermented horse milk or something. It was absolutely disgusting according to Freddy.

I love how Freddy seems so eager to try everything. Although he really needs to shut it with the constant narration next season.

Kazakhstan? Random. And awesome. Hee.

Yeah, the constant narration is so annoying  (:;)

Yeah I agree it's even annoying to me, who doesn't understand all he says.  :lol3:
It's just superfluous anyway because half the time it's completely obvious where all the teams are anyway.  :duno:

Really enjoyed the Finale - The episode of next Sunday is just for featuring the 'highlights' and unaired extra footage right??  :)

Too bad about the twins though I am in a way quite amazed they even made it this far!
To me they made a large part of the series for me, they were so funny and entertaining to watch, plus bumbling through so much it was easy to root for them as the underdogs. (Well them and the Blondes in a way).

The pointing out the weather in various European cities task was hilarious actually, I thought.  :lol3:
Really funny one team was bumbling so much if you take into account they just raced across half the world.

Quite a tough leg but I'm quite pleased with who won, a deserved win on the whole I think.  :)

A few questions though:  :)

1. Why did it take team that ended up
Show content
being nr 2
so long to find the right addresses, did they get lost some place?
Also: Am I correct in assuming they only found the place because they saw the car of another team being parked somewhere?  :lol3:

2. What was going on in the roadblock? They had to ski/langlauf for a round, then shoot 5x - and for each one they missed they had to take a penalty round? And if they then still didn't get it right they had to take more penalty rounds for how ever much they missed, so twice in a row basically?

3. What was going on with the Dubai/ Hong Kong issue at the end, all teams had trouble working out which picture it was?
If thought it was kind of a shame they didn't get separate rooms or some kind of separation between them in a way because they could have easily heard or seen something the other team was doing, it seemed to me?  :duno:

4. The teams talked about what they would do with the money if they should win I think?
Karim and Khabat wanted to take a roadtrip somewhere?? And the others?

5. What did the winners say about winning the race, at the end?

I really enjoyed the ending too, the way they came up to the mat.
And very good to see there was no animosity, everyone seemed genuinely pleased about who won and thought they were deserved winners.

Anyway, very enjoyable series, if I can find the time I will definitely watch TAR Norge 2, provided there will be one hopefully! (Were the ratings good? I think the airing times may not have helped much with the gaps in between maybe?).

Thanks again to everyone who made it available to us!!  :hearts:

1. Yes they got lost.

No, they didn't find that one place by seeing the other car. Karim just went too far and Khabat started yelling stop stop stop or something, then they turned and we saw the other car in the picture.

2. Ski 1 km-->shoot 5x -->150 m penalty round for each miss-->ski 1 km--> shoot 5x -->penalty round for each miss -->straight to the finish

3. The picture was kind of dark so it was difficult to place the picture, but when they looked really close they could see palm trees and a mosque, I guess that's how they got it in the end.

4. Karim & Khabat -->Take a road trip and visit every contestant in the amazing race
Cathrine & Michelle-->Buy apartmens next to eachother so they could be their own little "family".
Truls & Morten--> I just remember Morten wanted to buy a new apartment for him and his daughter.

5. They said the usual stuff..at least what I can remember. Amazing thing to be a part of, really learned how important family back home is, how much they missed them and so on :P

I think the ratings are good, but I'm not sure if they are good enough, we have to wait and see.

What I have heard from people is only positive, everyone likes the show. So I'm hopeful that they will give it another try.

I'll will have to wait until Vietnam & Aus 2 finish as Dustin & Grant are not that bad - at least Grant's better this time around...

Why's Dustin shaking the racers' hands at the pit stop instead of hi 5 or whatever the trend nowadays? Is shaking hands an Asian custom?   :)

Viewing figures: average 394 000 share: 25,9 %

Not great at all, they were hoping for 500 000. The finale had 550 000 at the end though and the viewing figures rose throughout the season.

TV2 is not fully satisfied, but the rising figures during the season gives me hope for a new season.

TV2 has not decided if they will order one more season yet, but it's definitely not hopeless. They beat the winter version of Survivor and 71 grader nord which is good.

Does anybody still have access to this who understands Norwegian? I was rewatching the season and realized there's something I don't understand.

In the Hue episode (episode 6), teams signed up for one of two charter buses from Hanoi to Hue. After the first bus left, two of the teams on the second bus (Both teams with a Cathrine) got into a taxi instead and didn't take the bus. Julie & Vichy stayed behind and took the bus like they were supposed(?) to.

Neither of the teams who took a taxi got any sort of penalty, so I really don't understand what happened. Did the bus get delayed/broken down and they were given the option of taking a taxi?

So, the teams took the bus to Hue, but on the way to Hue there was a mandatory rest stop, where they could buy some food and/or drinks before the bus continued to Hue. The second bus was quite slow and delayed the team by an hour or two. So I guess that the teams got the option to either continue to take the bus or go into a taxi and drive to Hue.
