Cossack (or Hopak) dancing originated in southern Russian and Ukranian military communities. The general plan was to have a battle, win, then return and have a big dance off with all your comrades. The party was male-only, of course, but by the time the women enter the forces they also learn to do this dance and often involved pantomime style re-enactments of battlefield moments, with sabres et al.
this expression, with its attempt to render nonstandard speech, has been attributed to fight manager Joe Jacobs (1896-1940), who uttered it on June 21, 1932, after his client, Max Schmeling, had clearly out-boxed Jack Sharkey, only to have the heavy-weight title awarded to Sharkey. It is still used, most often in a sports context.

It would have been better if Leg 7 and Leg 8 were shown back-to-back, like Poland in TAR11.
I think James/Abba fail to get their passports and are eliminated. Josh/Brent may take a penalty (is it 4 or 6 hours for a detour now?), and Abbie/Ryan gets 4th place by default (and hence keeping their top 4 streak) for Leg 7. Twinnies use the EP and get 1st or 2nd. Trey/Lexi and Jaymes/James get top 3 again by default.

i feel like they are going to show it like poland.. because theres going to be an Hours of Operation. I feel they did something like they did on s6.. with the orginal TBC legs.... since the 8th leg was orginally a Non-Elim in Russia. They figured they have 2 legs to get the passports back.. also we spent 2 Legs in Indonesia 2legs in RUssia and 2 are going to be in Amsterdamn.. i think thats a little fishy...

This is a "to be continued" story not a "to be continued" double-length leg. There's some surface comparison to TARAS in Poland, but the time spacing between teams is a lot less than it might have been.
(And IIRC, there were filming spoilers that counted five teams in the leg in Amsterdam, so the only real question is whether the first or second Moscow leg is NEL.)
i agree with this therory especailly since leg 8 is also in Russia.... they could have had james and abba continue to race.. but then it wouldnt be fair to the team that gets eliminated this leg... also any1 think of the globe trotters when ryan was having a had time with next week's roadblockThis is a "to be continued" story not a "to be continued" double-length leg. Since its a common trend for TAR to have NEL's on first leg in a country where there are 2 legs, my guess is that Leg 7 is a planned NEL leg. If James and Abba dont find their passports, it will have to be elimination, which will make leg 8 NEL instead.

It's preview!! Russian School!
The preview showed all teams except the rockers on the next leg. It also looks like a double roadblock leg, with one being a quiz of Russian geography, and the other being cray cray Russian dancing.
Speed Bump? ??? :duno: :duno: :duno:
Good work Zouly!! :hearts:
Do we know where this is??
The location of the Speed Bump sign tucked in the side wall of the lecture hall like that is very interesting. (No photo of a team on the sign, either.) Could it be that the Speed Bump couldn't be used because James and Abba would have been last, but didn't find their passports?
Might be another first for this season.

The zones shown are:

This roadblock task could be the task where we match the Russian time zones with their respective states / provinces,
and bear in mind that the judge called: "Round 1".... and "Next Round..!"
that means not only the time zones, but other geography stuff alongside Russian country... :groan:
and you can see the answer paper here (it's like mix and match) :

So, may I presume (or at least speculate) that the Twinnies will ExpressPass that roadblock.

Almost definitely!
They have to use it in this leg, and I don't see why you'd use it on a Detour.
My theory is that James and Abba get Speed-Bumped, but they're too far behind for it to matter. They had to make the last episode a TBC because some teams will be departing before or during the arrival of the last teams, like in TAR 11.
I see no reason why World Race Productions cannot manage the length of the pit stop to avoid some teams departing before the last 2 arrive.

I disagree with Prophet on both parts of his thesis. James and Abba have a 10 hour cushion to locate Abba's passport and if they do so the speed bump for an NEL would be between Ryan/Abbie and Brent/Josh.
Because that time differential is only 10 hours, I see no reason why World Race Productions cannot manage the length of the pit stop to avoid some teams departing before the last 2 arrive.
I just watched an episode 8 promo while Survivor. It showed teams "getting schooled" on Russian language? It sounds like another Burkina Faso to me.
And it also shows Abbie "ripping her pants" on the Russian military cheerleading squad. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Ok guys, I don't know if it helps but I re-watched the preview and kept pausing it. I took this picture with my phone..sorry it looks bad but it might be a closer look of the Speed Bump board. All of you can check it yourself too. In the preview, keep pausing at between 0:06 and 0:07. Again..sorry for the bad quality

Definitely looks like the rockers on the board. Good work guys!It is definitely the rockers. I just paused EP 3 at the U-Turn board, the picture of Josh/Brent have them wearing red shirts and the picture of Ryan/Abby looks like it was taken at a beach and Ryan is wearing a light blue shirt.
OMG LR that's amazing!
There's another new video uploaded. I think it's about the Russian Soldier's Dance. Can't see it from here :(

Perm is +6....is 9:45The teams are given Moscow time as a base, but the map lists the differences from UTC. Tricky. *-:)
I would never doubt the authenticity of the show, but I am a little suspicious of why they did not not show us the start times for each team :(

Well, this episode was filmed June 9, 2012. This is the time of year for Russian white nights. There are not that many hours of darkness @ those latitudes that close to the summer solstice. Sunup came pretty early, relatively speaking.

I think it may have been because there was such a large time difference between departure times of the last 3 teams, that it would have been obvious early on in the episode who the first 5 teams would have been and who would have been eliminated.
Usually when they show the last two teams racing to the end, they edit it so it seems that the teams are closer than they actually are for the drama factor.
Found an interesting article where James and Abba explain what the Speed Bump involved and they also mention that they were in Russia for six days before the passport situation was resolved. The article/blog post can be found here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/amazing-race-james-abba-elimination-392013 (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/amazing-race-james-abba-elimination-392013)
This episode just aired in Australia last night, nice job channel 7 ><
anyway, could this leg be the leg with the most amount of teams yet the fewest inter-team interactions? the only teams that saw each other were the chippendales working with trey and lexi for the whole leg, and trey and lexi briefly seeing the twins get out of their taxi
Also is it just me or is Sokolniki park (or wherever the pitstop was) featured also in season 13?
