• Nov 22? 23? Air China flight from Beijiing to Tokyo: *we found ourselves watching the double mint twins in matching sweatshirts, bleached teeth and badly dyed red hair preen the entire time for the cameras
--Remember Michael's just a rumor post (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,17747.msg356578.html#msg356578)? About the father/son team from the LA area? I can now confirm that this is no longer a rumor, :lol: :yes: --And in the biggest surprise of the season, we are going to have a totally deaf female racer, who must rely on signing, and who will require subtitling during the episodes.

I overheard a father/son talking about their upcoming participation in The Amazing Race season 14. I don’t think they are supposed to talk about their participation, so I won’t get into a more specific descriptions.

Funny how so much of the entertertainment world is centered in just one area. After transplanting myself from the midwest I was excited to see the celebrities in Los Angeles. I had no idea how prolific “the industry” is around here.

There was also the perhaps late 30's or 40-something lady my friend was sitting next to on the Munich-Bucharest plane ("a Kelly Ripa lookalike", she said), and her teammate Chrissy (also est in her late 30's or 40's), supposedly both Southwest Airlines flight attendants!

I know who I'm going to be rooting for! If there's any team that can overcome my desire to see an all-female team win, it's an Asian couple. So I'm rooting for the Asian couple.

Kiwi, I already made a list, but I think this is more correct:
-An asian couple -2 girls in their 20s -two older black girls -Another F/F team (one named Chrissy) late 30s - 40 something lady; both are supposed to be Southwest Airlines flight attendants. -two short men -Tall Man and Short Woman - and a possible father/son team (who could be the short men lol)
The chances are Chrissy and her friend or the girls in their 20s are the "dustin and kandice" team that were helped, because I doubt they would cast any more F/F teams.
I did add the tall man short woman to the list thoug.

Around 7, I was again heading up towards the plaza AGAIN when we were passed by a team heading down the street, towards the vicinity of the Piazza Grande or the castle, we thought. This team was two younger people (early to mid 20s). I think the woman I saw was blond, but not sure. She was definitely pretty and tall - guessing 5'9 or more. The "producer" (ie 4th person in group, not carrying a backpack or camera) stopped her to adjust her shirt or necklace as they walked down the street.

From Michaels blog find in Austria we have: 1) A young man was driving, what I guess was his wife or girlfriend was behind him. He and the woman were frazzled, amazingly desperate! And they were covered in what looked like an amazing amount blood, guts, and pumpkin rot. But it all looked fake. Plus they had tons of make-up on.
2)Just then, another white car pulled into the parking lot. A different set of people but with camera and boom men. They held each other's hands and headed right past us through a different door than the main entrance. I wanted to tell them that the path they were taking was a Detour, but I figured it wasn't my place. In fact, a staff member came up to us a short time later and asked us in German if we'd said anything to the couple.

In the photo of the blonde lady and blue shirted man, they seem to me to be in the 'middle aged' and category based on their clothes the way they are wearing them. The lady's trousers seem quite high waisted, with a belt and top tucked in, and the guy also has shirt tucked in, and *may* have a slight loss of hair.
The only thing that I can see that may be able to be identified from the 2nd photo and compared to other future photos is the back pack. :duno:

And after TARA 2 we all know that being deaf is not necessarily a handicap on the race--there can be some times where signing could be an advantage!!
But I think the team dynamics of this will be SO interesting to watch! Can't hear directions from your partner if you are driving, and can't give directions if you are navigating...This will add a whole new layer to our race!

Just a reminder, many deaf people have cochlear inplants and can hear fine. Also the term "tall" is pretty subjective. To Charla, everyone is tall. I have been looking at those pics of the blonde girl by the van. She seems to be pretty "tall" to me. Maybe around 5'8" or 5'9". To me, that would be in the tall range for a female.

She spoke with the deaf woman for a long time in the airport, and she whispered 'we're in a race' to her. The deaf woman also said to trip the dwarfs, they aren't nice people.
There were camera men with every team who were being very careful about people taking photos. In spite of this, she said she managed to get several good photos of the teams she saw.
I will send the photos when I can get my hands on them.
If this were true that would mean the F4 is: two short men, father/son, orange auburn couple, and a f/f team ....
I'm not buying it, but i wanted to post it anyways just in case lol.
I think we can all agree that there are two short men on the race, based on several sightings. However, I am NOT being told that there are two "male little people" on the race, and I truly do think that that would have been mentioned by one of our other sources by now were that the case.
So in the absence of further proof (photos, etc) , I am going to ask that we do NOT assume that the the two short men seen are "little people"--as of this writing I do NOT believe that they are. Just want to be clear here because I keep reading elsewhere that RFF says there are "dwarves" on the race, and RFF is saying no such thing. :groan:
I would of course be delighted to see photo evidence confirming this, it would be wonderful casting!

I heard the deaf person was a male but peach's source says female and so now I don't know so unless you can provide more details dane I guess we wait and see .........probably less than a month before the cast is released :yess:

And, if its true, CBS can be proud that they managed to keep it under wraps for that long.
If one deaf person came along, you wouldn't think about it.
But if two deaf people come along in the same group, you would think twice about it.

So we have a deaf contestant. Another person for me to root for. No, I'm not deaf but I went to a Special Needs Christian camp when I was younger and I knew someone who was deaf and I learned a very small amount of sign language there. Also, I rooted for Heather Whitestone, a former Miss America -- and I even met her once and got her autograph when my parents & I were at the Miss America Boardwalk Parade when the pageant was being held in Atlantic City. So I'm definitely rooting for this contestant -- as well as for the Asian couple and the all-female teams (the nice ones).

I think we are getting confused here
Jodi is 40ish (Blond) and the other set of girls are in their in their 20's (brown hair, the other had lighter hair, but not blond) Maybe just maybe this Amanda is partnered with an unknown male?

And as I may have already mentioned, she was wearing a t-shirt with a picture of her daughter that said "I love you wherever I go".

Don't really know how to use this yet. I am new to this site. I actually just learned about all of you and was excited to meet others as obsessed with TAR as I have been for a while now.
No one else has mentioned it yet so I thought I would help you out a bit. A TAR 14 commercial just showed during half-time of football game. Cast isn't posted yet and it was a quick view, but one team stood out to me! Could be additional info for the 20s something all-female team?... They showed two of the hottest women I have ever seen - both look like Victoria's Secret models - with red hair in green shirts. No bad dye job, whoever wrote that. I don't think there was a hair dying contest after seeing that.

They look like sister and they both have bad red dye jobs and green shirts so they fit the description. they are also freacklishly tall - matches to other sightings. I think they are the team from the pics in Austria and Thailand.
sadly there are only two male/male teams in the promo (unless I'm mistaken) and they both rather short, who do u think are the "dwarfs" from Thailand?

There are vidcaps in the other thread to see, and RFF has said for weeks that there were no "little people" on the race.

Maybe this is what TPTB have done to neutralize "alpha male" teams in this race. Get short ones. Last race we had Dandrew....the bumbling alpha male team.

Well, by the looks of it and her friends on Facebook, I think there's a good chance that the blonde is Amanda. So before the cast is even released (I'm assuming Wednesday; CBS isn't gona overshadow Obama), I've narrowed it down to rooting for either Preston / Jennifer or Amanda / her boyfriend.
I'm gona do some last minute Facebook searching but I doubt we'll find anything we haven't all ready!

I like the Asian couple and the redheads. I always liked red hair on women, and I have my own hair colored red (it's actually brown). I also like the team with the deaf person on it. Man, this is a huge problem -- I have too many teams I like!

I think the person pulling in the rickshaw ibelongs to the redhead team. She's taller (look at her bending down) than the Asian girl. And I think the guy is not the type to wear short with those shoes, imo.

Hey all, huge TAR fan here. I've been lurking these boards since around TAR9, but have been to scared to post anything. Anyway...
I was bored and decided to look up the spoiled contestants on IMDB.com to see if any of them are mactors, and lo and behold, I think I found the "short men," Michael and Mark Munoz. Sorry, I don't know how to post pictures, but Mark's profile picture has a VERY strong resemblance to one of the men in the shot of them with their heads sticking out of the train window. While the other man's face is harder to see, he also has a resemblance to Michael Munoz's IMDB profile picture. Maybe someone else can post the pics or confirm this?
Sorry if it's not them, but I'm positive it is! Anyway, Michael's bio also states how he likes to surf in the morning with his brothers, Mario and MARK. They also both work as stuntmen, with Michael being Danny DeVito's stunt double. And the most interesting tidbit I found is that they both stand at 4'9" tall (does that qualify as "little people?)" Again, sorry if I'm wrong...

I have looked at over 10 definitions of "dwarf" and they all basically come down to "abnormally small in stature". The fact that some people refer to a 4'9" person as a dwarf does not make it so. I found no specific delineation of the maxmum height for a dwarf, so I think we should go with Peach's identification of 4'10" as the meximum height for "little people", which should be the only reference of this type for them on RFF for the next 4 weeks and entirety of AR14.

That was what I was trying to say.
We went through this with Charla, and I was educated myself on this. "Dwarfism" is the medical condition. The terms "midgets" and to a lesser extent "dwarves" are considered derogatory when applied to "Little People".
I too did not realize that the cut off is considered to be 4' 10", but what counts is how Michael and Mark refer to themselves. Since they use the term "Little People", so will we.
So please, as Apskip has said, let's all use the preferred terminology here from now on, okay? Short men and Little People are both acceptable, "Dwarves" and "Midgets" are NOT.

So team 10 are Michael/Mark and are brothers. Cool!. We havent had brothers since season 10. Do we have ages. I would say Michael being Married in 1983 could put him between 45-55 and I am leaning towards more closer to 50 and Mark is in or around 40's?!

The problem is that since the rest of the info provided was partially inaccurate and never explained, it forces us to question this part as well, as much as it would be helpful to believe it.
I very well understand that sources are not always completely correct, and expect that this may very well be just a miscommunication somehow. But we really need some more objective evidence here.
So unless you can re-clarify directly with her what she saw or heard, or better yet, provide those discussed photos, we sadly have to continue to treat this as speculation.

We are finally able to "meet" Jennifer, who is racing with Preston McCamy.
She is Jennifer Hopka, from Columbia, SC. She was apparently a contestant in the 2003 competition for the 50th Anniversary Playmate, and was in the documentary, The 50th Anniversary Ultimate Playmate Search (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399808/).

We are finally able to "meet" Jennifer, who is racing with Preston McCamy.
She is Jennifer Hopka, from Columbia, SC. She was apparently a contestant in the 2003 competition for the 50th Anniversary Playmate, and was in the documentary, The 50th Anniversary Ultimate Playmate Search (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399808/).

Puddin and I have been working on this tonight, and are pleased to say that we believe that the female half of our Asian dating couple is Tamara Jih (Tammy).
She is a resident of San Francisco, graduated from Los Gatos High School in 1999, Stanford in 2003 with a B.A. in International Relations, and from Harvard with a JD in 2006.
She is an Associate Attorney in a firm dealing primarilary with business litigation (trial lawyers).

And thanks to some extra Detective help from Slowhatch this morning, it now seems that Tammy's race partner may be her older brother Victor.
He too has an impressive educational background: Harvard Law School, J.D., 1996: magna cum laude; Board of Student Advisors Stanford University, B.A., 1993: with distinction and honors in Political Science and Ethics in Society; Phi Beta Kappa

We did have Jodi's partner narrowed down (behind the scenes) to either her sister or that Christi, but didn't want to perhaps misidentify an innocent, so thanks so much for helping on that one too! And great to have a name for Amanda's partner as well, I love it when we finally "meet" our racers, one of my favorite days!

She's 26, and works as a project developer/project manager for a non-profit organization in Miami. She's also a law student. She lives in Boca Raton, and previously went to UCLA.
She was a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader for about 3 years (2005-2007, I think, but it might have been earlier)...
Good work on finding Cara and for getting the correct spelling of ChristiE. Thought for sure it was Christi, but glad it's cleared up now.

I was just watching the Documentary Channel and saw a promo for a doco called for the Bible tells me so about gays and homosexuals and I was watching it because it brought up gay reverends or pastors and I immediatly thought of Mel White and guess what around 20 seconds later there he was. I expected him to...how can I put it...sound different but it was quite sad and it is apparently very new done in 2007 so it was good to see him!

Well if peach has one in mind, I'm ready to hear it. I have one as well, but it could be off. I was looking at news on the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders site, and they have this artical on a former Miami cheerleader that was Ms. Pennsylvania last year. Beauty Queens seem to always grace the race, and this one does look like the other girl. Her name is Lauren Merola. Of course, no way of even knowing if she cheered when Cara was on the squad.

But I am going to preface this by saying that, unlike our other cast posts that we were able to reliably confirm before sharing, this one is PURE SPECULATION and unfortunately could not be confirmed. So I have chosen to refer to this person by her first name only and have removed some other identifying material in case this is a non TAR person, and I will ask you all to do the same, okay? If we are wrong, then apologies to both this person and to our racer.
North, Lauren Merola looks very close to our racer, and did indeed cheer near the same time as Cara. Go team Southwest! Has to be the best airline in the world, not to mention it is highly competitive just to get a job there. SW flight attendants are not you stereotypical crew. Do some research on the company. These girls are gonna be smart and wise about getting around whether it be plane, train, ship or snowmobile :jam:.

I just posted the Margaret analysis in the other thread. oops! I agree based upon her facial features and her little pony tail (look at the cab pic, she has her hair up in a little pony tail). Her chin has a point to it and the profile of the woman in Phuket has the same shape, IMO.

I am curious about Luke. One of the things I (or I should say we) love about the show is getting to know new people just a little.
And while we get to know his facial and body reactions to both events and people (not to mention his mother), I wonder if they are going to provide translations of his signing for the viewers.
I mean hell they often provide subtitles for teams that speak english, any thoughts?

I wasn't thinking of Asia (and I forgot, i mean washed the race out of my brain with bleach), But Sarah was kicked to the curb (sorry) 7th place. Charla made it to 6th place I believe in season 5.
Now of course she was third in All Stars, but that's her encore (and I think most of those racers with the real exception of Danielle should have a much greater grasp of what a team needs to do to stay around longer).

Ain't that the truth, mswood? I think Mirna's "Oh, this is too heavy, you carry it, Char-la" or "Run, Char-la!" was more of the handicap of that team than Charla's height. To be honest, I would take Charla on my team anyday. Mirna? Not so much.

I am curious about Luke. One of the things I (or I should say we) love about the show is getting to know new people just a little.
And while we get to know his facial and body reactions to both events and people (not to mention his mother), I wonder if they are going to provide translations of his signing for the viewers.
I mean hell they often provide subtitles for teams that speak english, any thoughts?

Is it safe to say that the woman in Bangkok lifting the chariot is Margie? Because it doesn't look like Cara or Jamie, so I'm assuming Luke & Margie make it to Thailand

So if we are thinking that the Segway is a detour? and the cakes are also a detour then they should be very nearby? We have the cheerleaders covered in "gore" which might be the cake throwing meaning they have switched detours or cakes or the segways could be a task to get a clue?
