*We were at LAX this July going on our honeymoon, and we met a team from the upcoming season. The team consisted of a younger guy and his grandfather. They were headed to Ireland and were looking for guidebooks and people to exchange dollars for euros on a one to one ratio.

*i was IMing the other night with a friend who actually WORKS at LAX airport, she was there when the Amazing Race teams passed through and she got a clear look at all of the teams from very close proximity.
*she said that most of the teams were "standard" (yawn) Amazing Race teams - the dating couples, MACTORS, etc,but the team that struck her eye the most, by far, was a team consisting of two GOTH girls  (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/TAR12/misc/25Sep0010.jpg) . she got a great look at them and said they were absolutely beautiful, but not in the standard "mactor" kind of way!

Amsterdam, Netherlands  July 11th
Two blogs mention seeing Amazing Race teams.
First blog (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg233185.html#msg233185):
*We just got done with a walking tour of Amsterdam. Unfortunately it was not as good as the Berlin tour but it was still very interesting. We think we saw some participants from the Amazing Race running through town with a cameraman and sound guy following close behind.
Next Blog (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://p-a-r-entesis.blogspot.com/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DViaje...continuacion%2By%2Bfin%2B%252B%2BActualizacion%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4GGIH_enUS207US208):
*I saw to 3 pairs that were competing in my reality favorite show “the amazing race”

Burkina Faso, West Africa  July 13th - 16th?
plurie (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=2666383&view=findpost&p=8353800) @ Twop's post's on July 16th:
*A friend of a coworker was recently on a flight to Burkina Faso with contestants and camera crews who claimed to be filming TAR. (He'd never seen the show, so he didn't know to ask any other questions.)
*According to my coworker, the contestants and camera crews were initially coy about what program they were working on, but eventually some of the contestants said it was TAR.

This blog  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg233588.html#msg233588) entry confirms Paris to Burkina Faso on July 13th
*We are happy to report that we and the Johnsons made it to Burkina Faso at around 5pm local time on Friday (1PM on the east coast).
*We arrived safely in Burkina Faso on July 13th
*Our biggest news of interest is that it appears that the Amazing Race teams and crew were on our plane from Paris to Burkina.
*We have no clue what they could find interesting to do in Burkina but we noticed the flight was very full and it turns out that there were 40-50 people on the plane associated with the production.
*We were sitting in Paris waiting to board and we kept seeing guys with really big video cameras, running up and then turning around to get video of two people coming towards them.
*We talked with a couple of people who said that they couldn’t say who they were with but they didn’t deny it either.
There is a chance that we are in the background of several shots at the Paris airport or on the plane.
Also, the SIM missionary from Ouaga who met us at the airport was definitely on camera giving directions to a team (Tim? & Don) who we had met and helped on the plane.
*Anyway,  I think they are shooting for the fall or the spring and they said that they were in the middle of the race.
*There was at least one team that was “goth.” They had either dyed their hair pink or were wearing a wig.
*Several of the teams were not quite dressed appropriately to handle the heat or the cultural requirements, so it will be interesting to see what they do (there was a goth team (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/TAR12/misc/25Sep0010.jpg) and the guy was wearing white face paint!).
*there were the girls who were wearing tight warm-up pants…very shocking to the conservative Burkinabe culture where women wear skirts and dresses that go below the knee in public.
*One of the contestants and his father were from Chicago and they sat across the aisle from us, so we got to talk to them a little bit

Big shout out to Eilan (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12520.msg234474.html#msg234474) for all the Amazing info and photo's throughout this thread  :jam:

peach:
*I had previously received (from an extremely reliable source) that Croatia was a very probable TAR 12 location.
*But based on my information and this information, I believe that there is a very good chance that this IS TAR 12 and not TARA. The dates of this sighting also coincide with the dates I was told.
peach adds  : (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12520.msg232529.html#msg232529)
Okay, I have a bit more info on the teams.
*There were probably 6 to 7 teams seen.
*They came in a group of 3 or so, then one, then the rest.
*There were at least one F/F team. And at least one M/F team who were close in age so could have been boyfriend/girlfriend or brother/sister, etc. That team was in the middle of the pack.

"Vance" from Toronto--  LINK (http://tapeworthy.blogspot.com/2007/08/amazing-race-12-possible-spoiler.html)
*My friend may have just witnessed part of the race for the next season of The Amazing Race 12.
*My friend was in Duprovnik, Croatia on July 19th  and saw groups of two's running followed by a camera.
* then we saw a camera man appear and then the two pple ran back the way they came and cameraman followed..
*it they also saw pple zip cording
*The one couple racing, that my friend remembers, was a dirty blond guy and a girl with dark hair and both were wearing green headbands.

Eilan  @Twop's (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=2666383&view=findpost&p=8599469) :
*We were on holiday this summer and happened to see a leg being filmed. We spent the better part of the afternoon chatting with various crew members, and met and had a brief chat with one of the teams.
*I promised the crew/producers I wouldn't say anything, but I think I can confirm the spoiler from RFF that auntieB linked to above without quite breaking that promise. And the team we met were definitely Americans.

Slowhatch  July 18th
Just one photo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bleary/1513065156/) in the album; a different part of Dubrovnik, but also a different date.
*The Amazing Race was filming while we were there in Dubrovnik!! We saw some camera men, but no teams.
*We were really excited anyway. We also talked to some people from England who didn't know what the show was, but told us they had seen two couples in row boats being videotaped.
*They weren't sure, but thought one couple (team) seemed to be doing well and the other (who they thought was male-female) was having a lot of difficulty.

Thanks to peach & Eilan, more picture/team evidence here (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12520.msg234077.html#msg234077).

Thank you to Newbie huholah   (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12520.msg235640.html#msg235640)

*HEY I KNEW THEY WERE COMING TO TAIPEI:
*My friend told me that he thinks he saw teams on the amazing race approaching Taipei 101.
*So here it goes: around 26,27 of July as I remember- sorry I couldn’t remember the EXACT dates, he was shopping with his girlfriend in xin guang shan uiah beside Taipei 101.
*When he was planning to shop in 101 at noon, he saw this man and women (couples) ran out of the taxi and looked up at Taipei 101.
*He also saw 2 camera men running with them.
*However, he found it weird that the couples did not enter the Taipei 101 and were actually waiting for someone.
*He describes the couple as a brunette woman and a man.  He said that the man seemed very athletic and fit
*Since he saw that there were camera men around, he notices that this might be on TV.
*He continued to stay for 10 minutes and another group came which he describes as another couple which consists of a blond girl
*He THINKS that there was an Asian team far behind or eliminated already because he was a good listener.
*When he was walking into Taipei 101, he was literally 2 feet away from the blond racer and he heard the girl say something like “I wonder what the Asians would say if they came to this place”.
*At first, I thought this was amazing race asia because I didn’t expect amazing race 12 to contain another asian team ever since the cho’s.  Now after the official list of teams came out, I strongly believe my friend’s sightings because there were asian teams.
*He only saw 2 teams each holding a blue form on their hands.

*he thinks that Lorena and Jason were in but is not sure because he could only recognize the long hair
*He says that he is not at all confident with what he saw with the second team.
*He jst notices a blond woman with a man(he didnt really see the man's face).
*He was pretty sure it was friday that he saw them because he was only advailables on fridays to go out.

*He said that he saw the first group heading the direction of getting to the top of 101-elevator.  And the second group, he didnt see because when he walked into the building the second group was still outside(possibliy asking how to get up to the tower).  I would assume there is a clue box up at the tower because I asked my frend if he saw anything else on the racer's hands, but he only saw a blue piece of paper..

*I'll ask my friend tomorrow......All I can say is..I think Taipei locatin was either 26th of July or 27th.....And since he only saw 2 teams on a spand of 10 minutes, it has to be a leg with very few teams because if it was one of the beginning legs, more than 2 teams would appear in a span of around 10 minutes.....
*my friend was not sure who he actually saw because it was 3 months ago.....he only THINKS its jenn/nathan because of the blunette hair of the woman --    huholah  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=5024)

Girdwood, Alaska on July 29th in this thread  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg217015.html#msg217015), first brought to us by anon1akacolby and PDF documents  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg225211.html#msg225211) posted by peach and the Amazing Race detectives.

 anon1akacolby :
*I just received an IM from a co-worker asking me when the next TAR is going to be on.
*"yup, at least part of it was in alaska.  2 of the people who did tours my parents went on this past week particpated in part of it up there.
one was a guide up a glacier or something like that and one drove a boat up a river that was use."
*"girdwood was the city.  she couldn't remember the name of the glacier."
*At first I took that to mean that alaska was on their way to the final destination.  But I asked her if she meant that Alaska is
Possibly the final destination.  **She said:
"i think so, she said she only remembers him mentioning 3 boats (not sure if it was 3 boats besides his or including his)."

peach:
*We know that the leg was filmed on July 29, 2007. (And since we also know that the race was completed no later than August 3 and probably a day or so earlier, that makes this one of the last possible legs.)
*The leg was filmed in the Chugach National Forest (http://www.fs.fed.us/r10/chugach/centennial/visitors/index.html) on the Twenty Mile River and on the Twenty Mile River Glacier.
*Teams travelled on the Twenty Mile River in boats provided by Glacier Jet, starting at Glacier Jets' launch site (http://www.glacierjetalaska.com/images/gallery/Strat%20of%20the%20Trip.JPG) (eyewitness source).  See a sample river tour video HERE  (http://alaska.org/videos-photos/videopop3.jsp?glacier_jet_medFL8.flv,glacier_jet_hiFL8.flv) (thanks Slowhatch for the links!).  Sample  River photos here (http://www.glacierjetalaska.com/photo_album.php).
*They did an ice climb on the Twenty Mile River Glacier with technical support provided by The Ascending Path (http://www.theascendingpath.com/). (link thanks to Colby!)

*"The Amazing Race": The Emmy-winning reality show is not on the fall schedule and will return later.
*"The countries are very exotic," Littman says.
*"We're going to a couple of places that I don't even know where they are on the map. I've had to go look them up."

*"If there ever was a season that I consider one of the best, it's this one," said Bertram van Munster," executive producer, director and co-creator of THE AMAZING RACE.  "It's insanely funny, fast-paced and dramatic all at once.  Teams are in hot pursuit of one another at every location and its reality television at its nail-biting best."
*This season, teams will travel approximately 50,000 miles (or is that 30,000?), covering five new countries including Ireland, Lithuania and Croatia.

*Ireland is one of five new countries The Amazing Race 12 filmed in, along with Croatia, Lithuania and two African countries with names that van Munster said most people can't pronounce.
*"It's very exciting to go to new locations because we have gone to places where people have never seen a television camera or have never seen television"

*The show will crisscross the world, from Holland to India to Croatia, and head to a few off-the-beaten-track towns that will send viewers grabbing for their globes.
*"There are probably four places that the average person is going to hear and say, 'They're going where?' And they're going to have to get out a map to know where it is. They are very remote," said Bertram Van Munster, the other half of the executive producing team. "We hit most of the continents, except Antarctica."

An update on what we do and do not know so far:

Possible start date of July 1-3. (source: private info--puddin)

Definitive end to the race on or before August 3. (source: private info--peach)

July 19 Dubrovnik,Croatia leg: (95% sure based on separate three way confirmations) including eyewitness accounts reported by  Vance from Toronto  (http://tapeworthy.blogspot.com/2007/08/amazing-race-12-possible-spoiler.html), direct observation by  Eilan  (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=2666383&view=findpost&p=8599469), and private info (peach) of a TAR technical member working in Croatia on the above date.  (more discussion starts HERE (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg205000.html#msg205000)).

July 29 Alaska leg: 100% confirmed   more info here (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg225211.html#msg225211)

Interesting but no further confirmation: Burkina Faso (http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=2666383&view=findpost&p=8353800)

Now not believed to be true: Malaysia

Nothing but a rumor: China (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg213671.html#msg213671)

Duprovnik, Croatia on July 19th  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg205000.html#msg205000), first brought to us by peach.

;) Hungry for some spoilers? Found something!!!!!!!!!!!!

Click Click Click the pictures for large pictures :

The Race!

As some of you may know, something absolutely incredible happened while we were in Dubrovnik, Croatia- we were on the set of The Amazing Race!! For avid fans like us, this was the ultimate experience.

It all started when the owner of our guesthouse told us about a rumour he had heard- something about the filming of a TV show that was to take place in the bay outside our seaview room window tomorrow. He thought it was 'fear factor', or something.

We decided to check out the view in the morning and this is what we saw...

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_1-1.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/1-1.jpg) It was initally covered up with a garbage bag, but we knew what that shape was... and soon a clue box was revealed in all its red and yellow glory!

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_2-1.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/2-1.jpg) Before too much longer a team came sprinting down an alley leading to the bay, followed by their crew- instructed to wait until their crew was ready before opening and reading their clue

Needless to say, we followed the making of the episode around the whole town and saw quite a few of the challenges. Not to give too much away, but here are a couple more glimpses of what we saw...

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_3.jpg)  (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/3.jpg) One of the teams completing a Roadblock ("a task that only one team member may perform") - that is the directors/producers (or at least someone importants) hand blocking Trent from taking a close up

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_4.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/4.jpg) And now here is Trent (the next day) re-living the challenge, something to do with reconstructing part of Dubrovnik's old walls

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_5-1.jpg)  (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/5-1.jpg) A young (but perhaps illegitimate Racer) tries to collect a clue

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_6.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/6.jpg) A fun looking flying fox from the old city walls into Dubrovnik's clear blue waters... would have been a cool relief as the temperature was pushing 40 degrees

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_7.jpg)  (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/7.jpg)  And then a boat ride around the city walls... unfortunately this team got off to a tangled start as, unknown to them, they were still roped up to another boat

(http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_8.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/8.jpg) Looking back to our room from the citywalls, we saw another team arrive

By matching the profile of the rock in the background of this shot it looks like the wall building Roadblock takes place here.

I have been trying to get a location for the zipline and this may be a stretch, but I see some late-in-the-day shadows in this shot.  Times to follow.  The reason I think it is late in the day as opposed to early in the day is just because out photographer said they watched the box in the morning.  So this shot had to come later on past noon.  That helps me to pick where it was taken.

I found a Panoramio shot of a suitable TAR destination.  It is some kind of diving spot too.  It has a high place where the photographer could have taken the shots of the zipline and the boats by the raft.  The sun is shining from the West on the team.  They are headed to the main old port 'around the city walls'.

As Peach noted, no harnesses on the team.  So they are always over safe, soft water.  The zipline must go out to a large watercraft.  They are told to ride out and drop!

Peach, your inbox is full, so I'll post the list here.
Georgia doesn't require permits, but you need one in Atlanta if you're using a park.
Wherever it is, it has to be close to an international hub. TAR2 had the longest start-drive of any season (I think); I doubt if they'll make people drive that far again.

Okay, I have a bit more info on the teams.

There were probably 6 to 7 teams seen. They came in a group of 3 or so, then one, then the rest. There were was at least one F/F team. And at least one M/F team who were close in age so could have been boyfriend/girlfriend or brother/sister, etc. That team was in the middle of the pack.

I am going to speculate (oh my gosh) here since it is the right place to do so. The green cap and orange shirt team seen on the zipline and in the rowboat appear to be the grandfather/grandson team that was mentioned by the woman starting her honeymoon(WAMgirl) in LAX who saw the grandson begging for a 1:1 exchange rate on pounds for dollars so they could fly to Ireland.

Newbie tarrules00 posts at sucks:  (http://survivorsucks.yuku.com/sreply/1940013/t/TAR-12-SPOILERS-and-nothing-but-SPOILERS-.html)
i was IMing the other night with a friend who actually WORKS at LAX airport, she was there when the Amazing Race teams passed through and she got a clear look at all of the teams from very close proximity. she said that most of the teams were "standard" (yawn) Amazing Race teams - the dating couples, MACTORS, etc,but the team that struck her eye the most, by far, was a team consisting of two GOTH girls. she got a great look at them and said they were absolutely beautiful, but not in the standard "mactor" kind of way! i certainly hoped this was true, and by the looks of the girl in the spoiler pics with the BLACK hair, BLACK dress, and pink hat, it looks like my friend has come through with some NEW info! it's great to see the new photos and see different people represented on the show. i think i have a FAVORITE team for Amazing Race 12 already and i haven't even seen a single episode

Well, as near as I can tell, it looks like team Goth is in second place in Dubrovnik.  Pretty good for a couple of girls    ;D  ;)

And their second place is just a few minutes from the first place team.

I put my comparison out and say she reminded me of Abby on NCIS.

But great match with Abby!  Hmmm...where is SHE lately??

And boy, I'm not far from a punk/gothic hotspot (or used to be one) but I had to Google EMO too! :lol3:

Our biggest news of interest is that it appears that the Amazing Race teams and crew were on our plane from Paris to Burkina.
We have no clue what they could find interesting to do in Burkina but we noticed the flight was very full and it turns out that there were 40-50 people on the plane associated with the production.  We were sitting in Paris waiting to board and we kept seeing guys with really big video cameras, running up and then turning around to get video of two people coming towards them.
We talked with a couple of people who said that they couldn’t say who they were with but they didn’t deny it either.
There is a chance that we are in the background of several shots at the Paris airport or on the plane.
Also, the SIM missionary from Ouaga who met us at the airport was definitely on camera giving directions to a team (Tim? & Don) who we had met and helped on the plane.
Anyway,  I think they are shooting for the fall or the spring and they said that they were in the middle of the race.  If anyone could record it for us, that would be great.  I’m sure there would be some interesting things about Burkina and you might get to see a little bit of our airport and what it’s like to arrive here.
Several of the teams were not quite dressed appropriately to handle the heat or the cultural requirements, so it will be interesting to see what they do (there was a goth team and the guy was wearing white face paint!).

i was IMing the other night with a friend who actually WORKS at LAX airport, she was there when the Amazing Race teams passed through and she got a clear look at all of the teams from very close proximity. she said that most of the teams were "standard" (yawn) Amazing Race teams - the dating couples, MACTORS, etc,but the team that struck her eye the most, by far, was a team consisting of two GOTH girls. she got a great look at them and said they were absolutely beautiful, but not in the standard "mactor" kind of way! i certainly hoped this was true, and by the looks of the girl in the spoiler pics with the BLACK hair, BLACK dress, and pink hat, it looks like my friend has come through with some NEW info! it's great to see the new photos and see different people represented on the show. i think i have a FAVORITE team for Amazing Race 12 already and i haven't even seen a single episode

That blog appears to be from the Walshes, who also said:

We are happy to report that we and the Johnsons made it to Burkina Faso at around 5pm local time on Friday (1PM on the east coast).  It was in the mid 90’s and very humid.
That would have been on Friday July 13th.

So with that info, can we identify the carrier and the flight?? I'll bet so!

Hereis a little from their write up:  It's a Dad & son team!   I like that.

Quote
One of the contestants and his father were from Chicago and they sat across the aisle from us, so we got to
talk to them a little bit.

And this:  "tight warm-up pants"  It's sounding better all the time

Quote
There was at least one team that was “goth.” They had either dyed their
hair pink or were wearing a wig (couldn’t tell from where I was standing) and were wearing white face paint. You couldn’t tell the
gender of the person very well, either, and I kept thinking that they looked very hot and ridiculous. Then, there were the girls who
were wearing tight warm-up pants…very shocking to the conservative Burkinabe culture where women wear skirts and dresses that go
below the knee in public.

the layover in Paris and the stop we made in Niamey, Niger to drop off some passengers .............. Still, that’s pretty good for having traveled a total of 18 hours.

and more:

Quote
On the flight from Paris to Niamey/Ouagadougu, we noticed a TV crew that kept
filming different odd things at the airport and on the plane. Turns out that they were filming a
“race” of some sort. They weren’t allowed to tell us if it was THE race (the Amazing Race),
but unless there’s going to be a spin-off sometime soon, I’d bet on it. So, who knows…we
may end up in the background of some shots that make it onto the TV footage.:0) One of the
contestants and his father were from Chicago and they sat across the aisle from us, so we got to
talk to them a little bit. We were surprised that the show would send the contestants to Burkina – there’s not much here and it’s not
well known – but on second thought, I guess that makes sense.:0) So, whenever the next season of the Amazing Race airs, make sure
you watch it! I believe there’s a season currently running, so it may not be ‘til this fall/winter or maybe next spring. Aside from
looking for us, the missionary stars on the show, it’ll be interesting to see what they show of Burkina Faso, and to see some of the
contestants as well. It was amusing, standing in the line for passport check in the airport and seeing some of the…costumes…I’m sure
the Burkinabe were amused and maybe even shocked, too.

A conservative view of AR12 stops is as follows:

July 3 or earlier ? to Belize City

July 5 Belize City to San Salvador or northwest Mexico

July 8 San Salvador or northwest Mexico to Los Angeles

July 10 Dublin to Amsterdam

July 12 REST DAY

July 13 Amsterdam to Paris CDG (possibly by train)

          CDG to Ougadougou, Burkina Faso

July 15 OUA to ?

July 17 REST DAY

July 18 ? to Dubrovnik

July 20 Dubrovnik to Vilnius, Lithuania

July 22 to 29 Who Knows?

July 29 Girdwood Alaska

August 1 or 2 FINAL DESTINATION CITY

I've listed 10 destinations above and there can be a maximum of 11 according to the statements by CBS. If there are any TBCs, each one will probably mean one less destination. A 7 day period is a long time for one or no new destinations. I find this problematical.

I'm going to speculate too that since that flight leaves at 10:53 AM on the 13th--and knowing what a nightmare CDG is--I think 7/12 will be used in part for travel to Paris so that they will be there in plenty of time.

okay--a little more info on Ireland.

So far, our Ireland spoiler has been based on an airport sighting and conversation heard by Wamgirl in LAX on July 8.

While we don't yet have any permit or photogaphic evidence for Ireland, I believe teams may have gone via Dublin and may have done tasks in County Wicklow.

I have spoken personally to several people in official positions around Ireland asking for filming information, and in one of those locations I was told that "hmmmmm...., I see that we were asked to keep that information confidential, so I will be unable to release that info."

So is a miss as good as a hit?   Y'all can decide!

And now about LAX.

Slowhatch, puddin, kogs and I have have been working behind the scenes in an attempt to track down our teams for some time.

We can now tell you that we do have confirmation by LAX that filming was done there by WRP.

But even more interesting is what we don't have.

After hours on the phone with various officials in the film world, and a site visit by Slowhatch to EIDC, we do NOT have any evidence that film permits were obtained for LA, and have in fact been told that no permits were issued.

I have also been assured that there was no support arranged with/by the CHP, who would have been involved had the teams been on the highways.

All of these conversations have been with the people who either issue the permits or would have known had a permit been issued.

What does this mean? Well, if we believe these assurances, and I have no reason to think otherwise, then LA could not have been the start city. No permits--no filming.

So how did teams get to LAX and why were  they seen in an Internationl Terminal?

The most obvious answer is that they were in transit thru LAX from somewhere else, and the start city has yet to be found.

This also fits with our earlier possible start dates of July 1-3, and new reports of team sightings in Belize.

For completeness sake, I can also tell you that Boston, Baltimore, Annapolis, Chicago and Houston and Houston airport have all been pretty much ruled out as well, although it is important to remember that that refers to within the city limits of those cities ONLY.

We still can not overlook the possibility that the teams were all flown independently to Belize  City or Mexico and upon arrival began the Race there which would account for no USofA airport sightings.  If teams flew independently without camera crews shooting they could very easily slip through our nets.

Agree that the sighting in LAX Interntional terminal was that of a transition site between arriving from Mexico and getting on Aer Lingus flight to Dublin.  No shooting in LAX so no film permits required.

LAX requires an airport film permit for filming done there and one was issued.

As best as we know however, there were no film permits issued for LA itself.

I too grasped the significance of Kerry when seeing Joan Lyne's background. On the surface that would appear to favor Shannon airport as the arrival airport for The Amazing Race. However, Ireland is so compact that even from Dublin airport there would be only a 2.5 hour disadvantage in getting to southwestern Ireland. Also, the disadvantages and extra flying time to connect anywhere to get into Shannon would still argue for arriving in Dublin airport on the nonstop from LAX cited in one of my previous posts.

I am glad to see that TPTB finally followed our suggestion of a leg in Ireland.  How long ago did we first suggest the Irish countryside as a TAR location?  At least three or four TARs ago.

Where else should we be pushing: Prague, Transylvania, Ukraine?

AR10 went to Kiev, Ukraine, but Prague is long overdue (although ARA2 has just gone there) and Transylvania could be interesting. The way back from Ouagadougou to Dubrovnik has not been determined yet, so Bucharest is a possible stop (although one of about 100 such possibilities).

Great shots Peach.  You've done it again!

I finally got locations for them:  Very close to the other shots of cluebox and Roadblock.

Note that I added in the placement of the zipline.  The team that was shown on it and then shown in row boats had to have wasted a lot of time getting into the boats.

Times to follow.

Yes, I think that looks like the best place.

One thing that kept me from liking it is that I thought the lines should appear in this shot of the Goth team dong the wall building Roadblock.

But I suppose the lines may have been too high for the frame, or just out of focus.

I really need to know where that raft was when they were going off in the row boat.    :(

It was taken either 8:30 to 9:30 AM or 4:30 to 5:30 PM.

The current best guess of where the zipline goes argues for the PM time due to the sunshine on their backs as they zip down from the old fort.

For the skeptics  ;)

You can kind of see the round steps when you zoom in on the shot.

Also, remember they are opening the Roadblock clue at that cluebox that is nearby.

Okay... :hearts:  I have a fair bit more info on the team above, how they were doing, some on the other teams, and more on the task itself.

On the TEAM: (until we know their names, let's call them GHB {Green-Headband team} for short)

** He had red hair, and she was a tiny (but strong) brunette.
** Assumed to be  boyfriend/girlfriend, as they were close in age, but they could be brother/sister.

What about the other teams?

** also seen were a M/F and a F/F team (plus we have other team photo evidence from puddin's discovery)
** there were either 6 or 7 teams left
** there were a group of 3 teams (who caught the earliest flight) that arrived first
** That group included the Goths
      ** then Team GHB
** then either 2 or 3 further teams arrived about an hour later.

How was Team GHB doing at that point?

**they had been in first place the day before, then missed their flight connection by 5 minutes.
**Their cab driver took them to Cluebox # 2 location first by mistake, making them even later.
**They were now somewhere in the middle, but closer to the last group of teams than the first, and probably did not  know the other group was that close behind
         them.

On the TASK:

** (order of tasks is not entirely clear, but based on the fact that team GHB were taken to the "wrong" location first, it is presumed that the following is correct)
** First Cluebox was near the base of the Fort (that would be here)
(http://aycu27.webshots.com/image/32066/2002195528361184607_rs.jpg)   Roadblock card? (http://aycu28.webshots.com/image/29427/2005912828811262336_rs.jpg)

(Roadblock may come first here) (10/16)
** From the clue box they next run up the hill (stairs in picture) to the Fort and do the zipline.
**All teams do the zipline not clear at this time--there appears to be TWO ziplines (10/16)

(http://aycu39.webshots.com/image/29158/2002101283501609050_rs.jpg)       Thumbnail--click me! (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_img0149.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/img0149.jpg)

** Zipline went from the Fort and then hooked up to one of the towers on the city walls.

Next the Detour:
**sign seen with two arrows, names of tasks not recalled.
** teams either did a task we can call for now: " ROW it " or "ROPE" it
** GHB team rappelled down the side of the walls, then waded over to another section of the wall and climbed up using rope ladders.
** picture of GHB team woman is after she has climbed up onto the wall via the rope ladder and while she and the crew guys are waiting for her partner to finish his climb

thumbnail--click me! (http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/th_img0179.jpg) (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b105/rawalsh/misc/img0179.jpg)

** it is then thought that teams may have gone to the other cluebox at the port but this is not clear--other cluebox could be something with rowboats?

** It is thought that Roadblock task followed the Detour/Wall Climb not clear at this time (10/16)

What happened next??

** on a predawn flight Dubrovnik--Zagreb on July 20: There were a number of crew on the flight, recognized from tasks on July 20, including one who may have been a producer.  They made an ongoing connection in Zagreb. (possible Croatian Air #319 depart 6:25 AM arr 7:20 AM)
** There were NO teams on that flight or seen in the airport at that hour.

Thanks to puddin for this MAP which we thinks shows the possible task locations--and for Chateau's great location work seen above!

Could these wires be our actual zipline?

For sure!

I think the rigging structures that Slowhatch found on the two towers are in the right places but they both look too weak for a zipline that is up to TAR standards.

They usually use the welded box structures.  Very Beefy.

The only thing with that is that the date of July 19 is definite.

Scaffolding could of course be still there on 7/20 or camera date could be funky.

This kind of box, Chateau?

Yea, and that is there just for climbing a silly rope ladder!

To hold 400+ pounds up on cables stretched over 386 feet (I just measure the span using Google Earth) is going to be a really impressive piece of engineering.

But the clue box by Fort Revelin is very puzzling.  All tasks are done when the rowers arrive at the docks or the ropers arrive over land.  Is it a general TAR rule that every clue that tells teams to go to the Pit Stop comes from a task such as a Roadblock or a Detour?

From Puddin's set of pix, I get the impression that the wall building was done to the other side.  There is a shot of Trent at the wall.

I don't know why the wall is being supported by a wooden frame.

Maybe the extra thickness of the wall at that spot was done just for the TAR task.  Tourists shots from later on may show the added parts gone.

Well good job puddin :hearts:--sorry--I thought it was your find Slowhatch.

This whole zipline thing is making me nutso.

The first set of spoiler pics that we have which includes this M/M team are all taken over by the tasks--same location as our zipline. . BUT--look at the rigging--this is a totally different set up. Would there be a different setup entirely based on weight or something? I don't know. But in this shot they are just hanging on--no harness--and in the sunset pic they are in a harness and the suspension above their heads is totally different.  Could there be TWO ziplines?

According to an eye witness there was quite a drop from the Fort on that zipline and a just "hanging on " rigging does not seem safe. And from the fort they go over rocks too--so seems like the harness set up makes sense. And the only teams observed doing the zipline from the Fort by our photographer were in the harness--not hanging on.

Second zipline? Different place? Help??

Google for images of "sea kayak dubrovnik" and you can pull up some red/yellow boats; most are solid colors, but some are mixed. Not much video gear or lifejackets can be seen. On the other hand, everyone seems oblivious of the cluebox, which would be very strange for non-crew.

I had found this earlier and the pictures/location fits with the kayaks we saw in our first cluebox pictures.

Sea Kayaking - DUBROVNIK

Quote
DUBROVNIK, Full day tour

Description of excursion

Your sea adventure begins with rowing from the beach situated between the citadels Bokar and Lovrijenac. Easy rowing in kayaks and visiting the famous City Walls offers the opportunity to experience Dubrovnik from the sea side. The magnificent walls above you and the view of the old city haven will create moments to remember. After visiting the walls we row to and Island Lokrum.

I'm still wondering where they go in those rowboats. Think they just do a water based task?

Or maybe they go to this Island Lokrum (http://www.dubrovnik-guide.net/lokrum.htm), only 10 minutes away.

But thanks to Eilan's new picture--I think it is safe to say that there is a second zipline which goes from the tower .....out to sea?  Or onto that raft and then to the rowboats?

But so far we seem to have a LOT of clueboxes!  Is there a standard usual number per episode? I don't think I have ever counted before!

Hi Eilan, thanks for bringing all your good photos and info to our little discovery party.  It's a long party too!  Take a peek at the archived threads to see what can happen.   :rotf:

Your shots will help us figure out the order of team arrivals for this leg of the race.  Do you remember if the red and yellow sea kayaks were there as a matter of local routine.  Or, did they just appear for the TAR activities.  They look like they are in the kind of arrangement that is often used for the race.  But sometimes things are just set up for a contingency should there be a problem with another activity.  The premiere of TAR5 had sea kayaks in place for a task but they did not use them due to a storm.

There is no quesstion from the photos that the Amazing Race left Ouagadougou the evening of July 14(after arriving the afternoon of the 13th) for Frankfurt. Peach has done a fine job of providing the basic flight information. I have more detail here:

AF735 departs Ouagadougou 1045pm July 14 arrives Paris-CDG 0615 July 15 (Note: Saturday night is one of two weekly departures so all teams had to be on this)

There are 4 possibilities for CDG to FRA and which ones they were allowed to book in OUA will differentiate the positions of the teams:

AF1418 departs 0735 arrives 0900
LH4211 departs 0910 arrives 1025
AF1618 departs 0945 arrives 1110
LH4213 departs 1020 arrives 1155

Something is funny here.  If your times are right, the TAR12 teams travelled a mightly long way from Amsterdam, via Paris to OUA and then only spent a little over 24 hours there.  And a 12-hour pit stop should be included, before another long flight back to CDG and on to FRA.  So much for a grand old time in glorious, heart-warming, magnificant Ouagadougou!!

For the arrivals into Dubrovnik:

It's looking like the first teams arrived from London (Luton Airport) on TOM3443 which left London at 8:45 am and arrived in Dubrovnik at 12:10 pm.  That and an efficient debarking & Taxi for 12 miles would get them to the stone pier at 12:30 pm.

For the GHB team, it looks like they arrived also from London (Gatwick Airport) on BA2882 which left London at 11:55 am and arrived in Dubrovnik at 3:45 pm.  That and a Taxi for 12 miles would get them to the incorrect cluebox by the port at 4:20 pm.

There are a bazillion flights fron Frankfurt to London.  Six flights can be taken with arrivals between 6:40 and 9:00 am.  Obviously they would have to do some intracity transport to get to the right London airport for their flight to Dubrovnik.

Chateau, I am not saying you are wrong. However, please examine the information below and draw your own conclusions:

There are many flights every day from Zagreb into Dubrovnik. they start at 0545 and end at 2120. Any flight arrivals into Zagreb an appropriate connect time ahead of any of those flights will allow a single connection from an originating city to Dubrovnik. The list of cities from which you can fly nonstop to Zagreb is huge:

Major European Capitals/Cities
Amsterdam
Budapest
Cologne
Frankfurt
Istanbul
London Heathrow
Milan Malpensa
Moscow
Munich
Paris - CDG
Prague
Rome - Fumicino
Vienna
Zurich

Cities of Forner Yugoslavia
Belgrade
Split
Sarajevo
Pula
Ljubljana
Skopje

Other Cities
Nuremburg
Bergamo
Altenrheim
Zana
Tirana
Varazdin

There is no need for teams to fly nonstop to Dubrovnik. If so, the above indicates a wealth of places they could originate from.

I agree that incoming flights from Zagreb would be the logical choice, however, the only flights from Zagreb that showed up for yesterday, Friday 10/19/07, were 6:40 am, 3:10 pm, 3:15 pm, and 10:15 pm.  Zracna Luca Dubrovnik Arrivals (http://www.airport-dubrovnik.hr/dolasci.php)

None of those would qualify for Team delivery times of 12:30 pm, 4:20 pm, or 6:00 pm.  If you can find any flight arrivals 15 to 45 min prior to those times I'll give you a sucker.   ;)

The Dubrovnik airport is quite a ways outside town. I'd give it a half hour or so, depending on traffic. And it's all narrow, windy, two-lane highway, and the roads into/near town are one-way, and even one tourist bus (or airport bus) could create a real problem.

For what that's worth.

(And yes, that is my cutie crew guy. He was indeed quite pleasant to look at. And he had a very slight accent, for those of you (us) who appreciate such things.)

I think Eilan reported that they came by taxi.

Eilan, so do you think the taxi from the airport would be half an hour?  I guess you just said that.     I just want to be sure.  It will help us narrow down the field of previous pit stop locations.

I may need to revise my flight synchronizations.   ???

GMAN, anything is possible. However, it's close to 300 miles from Zagreb to Dubrovnik by road and I consider it unlikely. Since it is on the back end of connecting flights, there is no reason to believe that the producers would have written the clue to give them that latitude. Remember that in a much more sensible situation on Zanzibar teams could not use alternative transportation(high-speed ferry) and had to stick to flying.

OK, what is the fifth "NEW COUNTRY"?

We already spotted Ireland, Lithuania, Croatia and Burkina Faso.  Belize?

50,000 miles seems to indicate that TAR teams travel somewhere in Asia on the way to Alaska.

I strongly favor a direct move of the teams independently to an overseas start city

Yes, Chateau, I'd give it half an hour. But when we arrived, we'd been traveling (with two children) for about thirty-six straight hours. And when we left, it was two short days later and about four in the morning. It wasn't a quick trip, but it wasn't ridiculous.

Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers
Post by: Eilan on October 24, 2007, 08:19:29 PM
This I cannot tell you either, Chateau. Sorry. I don't think it was too long, as we saw them run up to the Fort, then do the zipline, then rappell, then climb up the wall. And we weren't there for hours and hours. I actually thought, until seeing pictures, that the ladders were already assembled. Perhaps they only had to put a few final rungs on?

HEY I KNEW THEY WERE COMING TO TAIPEI:  My friend told me that he thinks he saw teams on the amazing race approaching Taipei 101.  Since he wasn’t a fan, so he didn’t bother to follow them.  But he DID remember a few things.  When he told me his findings, I immediately grabbed him and forced him to tell me EVERYTHING because I was such a huge fan.  So here it goes: around 26,27 of July as I remember- sorry I couldn’t remember the EXACT dates, he was shopping with his girlfriend in xin guang shan uiah beside Taipei 101.  When he was planning to shop in 101 at noon, he saw this man and women (couples) ran out of the taxi and looked up at Taipei 101.  He also saw 2 camera men running with them.  However, he found it weird that the couples did not enter the Taipei 101 and were actually waiting for someone.  He describes the couple as a brunette woman and a man.  He said that the man seemed very athletic and fit.  Since he saw that there were camera men around, he notices that this might be on TV.  He continued to stay for 10 minutes and another group came which he describes as another couple which consists of a blond girl.  He THINKS that there was an Asian team far behind or eliminated already because he was a good listener.  When he was walking into Taipei 101, he was literally 2 feet away from the blond racer and he heard the girl say something like “I wonder what the Asians would say if they came to this place”.  At first, I thought this was amazing race asia because I didn’t expect amazing race 12 to contain another asian team ever since the cho’s.  Now after the official list of teams came out, I strongly believe my friend’s sightings because there were asian teams.  He only saw 2 teams each holding a blue form on their hands.

Was the 2nd team a man/woman couple? With the woman a blonde?

And is there any chance you could show your friend some pictures and see if he recognizes anyone?

And how sure are you of those 2 dates?  Does your friend remember what day of the week it was?

he thinks that Lorena and Jason were in but is not sure because he could only recognize the long hair.  He says that he is not at all confident with what he saw with the second team.  He jst notices a blond woman with a man(he didnt really see the man's face).  He was pretty sure it was friday that he saw them because he was only advailables on fridays to go out.

He said that he saw the first group heading the direction of getting to the top of 101-elevator.  And the second group, he didnt see because when he walked into the building the second group was still outside(possibliy asking how to get up to the tower).  I would assume there is a clue box up at the tower because I asked my frend if he saw anything else on the racer's hands, but he only saw a blue piece of paper..

not that I can think of now ><...I'll ask my friend tomorrow......All I can say is..I think Taipei locatin was either 26th of July or 27th.....And since he only saw 2 teams on a spand of 10 minutes, it has to be a leg with very few teams because if it was one of the beginning legs, more than 2 teams would appear in a span of around 10 minutes.....

my friend was not sure who he actually saw because it was 3 months ago.....he only THINKS its jenn/nathan because of the blunette hair of the woman.  It could be another team he saw.  Again, he is not a fan of amazing race so he wouldn't pay much attension to it.  He only kind of payed attension because there were camera man around which inicates that it was going to be on TV.

Hi huholah! Thanks for checking back with us!

You actually said yesterday that your friend thought it could be Lorena/Jason because she is brunette. (I'm still learning their names too!) I was the one who proposed Nathan/Jennifer because she is the only blonde in a couple. Athough we do have other blondes--they are part of all female teams.

We know we can't be SURE of the teams your friend saw--we are just excited!

Did you have a chance to see if your friend remembered anything else?

I don't think so because I have Ronald and Christina arriving at about 12:30 to the cluebox for that Roadblock.

Thanks Chateau so we'll keep our eyes open for a dark haired girl w/ what looks like a pink shirt and we know its not Rachel , Vyxsin , or Christina for sure or Hendkea because she arrives at the cluebox much later. The only ones left are the Ruiz sisters/ or Lorena i guess.

OK more riddles -- why 6 boats if we think there are 7 racers left -- we "think" but aren't sure.

This is the raft I found at flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/coccinella169/887017858/in/datetaken/) but at the time didn't realize it was part of the race set up

Post by: puddin on November 06, 2007, 08:13:10 PM
OK I give in on this one -- its probably Rachel doing the RB with TK watching and the camera dude looks the same --
so now do we think there are 6 teams left in Croatia? I mean lets say there was a Fast Forward option .. still there should be 7 boats set up not 6 right?
That would give us 5 known of the final 6 with the last team being in their 30's? M/F close in age could be brother & sister or a couple. Also a decription of a couple here  (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bleary/1513065156/) at Slowhatch's find.
Quote
We also talked to some people from England who didn't know what the show was, but told us they had seen two couples in row boats being videotaped. They weren't sure, but thought one couple (team) seemed to be doing well and the other (who they thought was male-female) was having a lot of difficulty
here it is ~ From Eilan:
Quote
*There were probably 6 to 7 teams seen.
*They came in a group of 3 or so, then one, then the rest.
*There were at least one F/F team. And at least one M/F team who were close in age so could have been boyfriend/girlfriend or brother/sister, etc. That team was in the middle of the pack.

What about this picture:

There's that boat out in the distance?

Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers
Post by: georgiapeach on November 06, 2007, 08:40:29 PM
We just don't know about those boats. One team could already be gone, one boat could be still being brought in, or of course, we could be down to 6.

Quote
last team being in their 30's? M/F close in age could be brother & sister or a couple

The quote about "could be a brother =/sister or a couple" was in ref to TK/Rachel.

Hmm, wouldn't that Taiwan "spoiler" be wrong if there are indeed no more than 7 teams in Croatia?

Think about it, 6 teams are accounted for in Croatia:

Ronald/Christina
Nicholas/Donald
Kynt/Vyxsin
Azaria/Hendekea
TK/Rachel
And a female team(either Shana/Jennifer or Marianna/Julia)

Room for only one other team.

The Taiwan guy said Lorena/Jason and another couple with a blonde girl(Nathan/Jennifer are the only ones that fit) were there. If there are 7 teams in Croatia, this spoiler is false.

This is a tough one.  The shadow seems kind of close to the wall (that TK is leaning against).  I know from their other shadows that they were there around 4:30 to 5:30.  But to call the time of the shot as 4:30 is on the edge of hard-to-believe.  I will have to do a cosine correction to sort it out.  And... I can't do that right now.   It will have to wait until the w/e.

Sorry.

here:

He describes the couple as a brunette woman and a man.  He said that the man seemed very athletic and fit.

Something interesting that I noticed after re-watching the first episode. Phil essentially said that there would be 11 legs (he states, "the first to cross the finish line after 11 legs..." at the starting line). Did anyone else catch this? Is this a mistake? I want to say no, only becuase I recall that at the beginning of Season 10, when they cut two teams in the first leg (and there were 12 teams to begin with), Phil said that "eight legs" would be elimination legs (essentially giving away the double-elimination leg twist).

puddin:

My simple analysis of how many teams should be left says this:

after Ireland 10
after Netherlands 9
after Africa 8 or 7, depends on whether TBC is used there
after Florence 7 or 6

Going into Dubrovnik, the correct number of teams therefore depends on the use of the TBC in a prior leg. If it was used as I predict it should be, then there will be 7 teams going into Dubrovnik. If it wasn't used, then all prior legs would be elimination points and there would be 6 teams going into Dubrovnik.

I remember what the press release stated; I'm just noting, however, that Phil said "eleven legs" specifically (not episodes). I also recall that Phil got defensive on a news program when the interviewer asked if they were dropping nonelimination legs.

Yea they coulding make it more obvious its 11 legs [mean 2 non eliminations legs], and i dont remember ever reading they dropped all non-elims, they said they dropped 2 [4-2=2]  Now they have never counted TBC's as legs [well in AR9 they did], but i really think there are deffinally non elims!

I agree with the non-elim legs being where askip has them placed. With that being said, I am confused on the number of boats, but you really can't depend on them to give an exact number. If they are from test runs, maybe they used one to test. In the pictures, it seems they have more than enough room for one more. Also, just because we have shots of 5 teams and know of the girls as the 6th, the person visiting Croatia at the time, didn't see them all. She easly could have missed 2 teams. Or another thing to consider, the fast forward. There is always one team that goes for it when its offered. Maybe the producers thought that only 6 boats would be needed because one team would inevidably go for the FF. With Taiwan, they could have mistaken TK/Rachel for Lorena/Jason

12 seconds in to the zip video, I think you can see that one person has long hair while the other has short hair. So if that is correct, it's not one of the girl teams or Nicholas/Donald.

I can't get into this without a subscription  :meow: but this fits our Girdwood spoiler:

Quote
Idaho goes Hollywood
Three welded-aluminum boats will appear in the last episode of the "Amazing Race" on CBS-TV, says Doug Riddle, owner of Riddle Marine, which constructed the vessels. And the Travel Channel will air a "Cash and Treasures" segment about ...
Lewiston Tribune Online - Top Stories - http://www.lmtribune.com/

That gives us more confirmation of Girdwood  (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,12521.msg225211.html#msg225211) as the last episode.....

Might look like this:

I didn't know Dustin & Kandice were the stars last season, and I don't think the person who suggested that the fact that Ronald & Christina were the stars means they might've won knew that -- or perhaps remembered it.  In any case, I wonder what caused people to start thinking that Ronald & Christina might've been shortly eliminated before Taiwan.  The last thing I heard was that Ronald & Christina had made it to Taiwan, and then the next thing I heard people were suggesting that either they had been eliminated just a little bit before or they were way behind.

^^ from this post~

He only saw 2 teams each holding a blue form on their hands.

tbh I think I would rather any other remaining team to win before N&J do, but that is the beauty of reality shows, it is unscripted, and not always the nicest, best or most deserving who win the prize.

if this spoiler is true, then I wonder if the money was the making, or the breaking of their rather shaky looking relationship. ???

If it was a new member, and this claim was their first posting, then it would be reasonable to question their source. But puddin has proved before that she has some pretty good anonymous sources, and while you can never be 100% certain on any spoiler until after the show has aired, I reackon there's better odds that she might be right, than most other posters around here.

My only comment is that it helps explain why Nathan and Jennifer still have a relationship when the evidence for leg 1 through leg 6, Dubrovnik, would indicate Jennifer's death stare and extreme disappointment at their fractured relationship would have led to their disintegration as a couple. Winning $1 million provides one of the few rationales for them to still be together.

I doubt the quote-unquote spoiler based on the information on the "stars" of TAR. My DirecTV guide lists Kynt & Vyxsin and main stars each week. Based on that, do I think they're in the Final 3 and thus, likely winners? I'd like to, but I can't.
Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers

So now that we know that NATHAN AND JENNIFER WIN I say the pecking order goes something like this:

Kynt and Vyxsin (although I still think that the episode eight title could pertain to them)
Ron and Christina
F3:
Gramps
Rachel and TK
JenNate

I think their edit now is like Freddy/Kendra, while TK/Rachel are Kris/Jon to me, so it makes sense if the outcome of this season will be the same as season 6.

Exactly - the write-up says that a normally bickering team works together well in Italy, which would be Nate/Jenny - that'll be the foundation for them to have a healthier relationship through the race all the way to the finish line  (:;) Pretty much like when Kendra won.

The alternative is that everyone else gets more of a loser edit - Nick/Gramps bickering, Kynt/Vyksin hitting the skids - it would be tough with Ron/Chris given their reconciliation and for TK/Rachel given their...blandness and general niceness towards each other.

Initially when Puddin said that Nathan & Jennifer won, his/her "Muhahaha!" bit convinced me it might just be a joke.  But now that others are thinking it's serious, I must ask Puddin what evidence there is that actually suggests a Nathan & Jennifer win.

I guess I'm just finding it very hard to accept that a team I so thoroughly dislike might actually win.  Sure, there have been teams I didn't like a whole lot, but I wound up accepting it largely because I didn't see the people as complete asses or bitches.  In fact, while I didn't like Freddy & Kendra (whose win most people are comparing to a possible Nathan & Jennifer win) and I certainly didn't like Kendra's attitude in Senegal, I didn't hate them half as much as Jonathan & Victoria, so I was able to accept their win more easily.

Belle Book, please note that puddin has over 50,000 posts on RFF. She is the moderator for The Amazing Race and she has an incredible track record over the years of preciting what happens in Amazing Races. In addition, she was the author of the infamous BootList for AR11(All Stars) which was unfortunately all too accurate.

There is nobody that has more credibility on predictions than puddin. The old phrase "when E.F.Hutton talks, people listen", is transposed here into "when puddin predicts, take it to the bank."

Puddin..... for as long as I have reading your posts for TAR ALL STAR and TAR 12, I place my trust on your source. :xmas49

However, it will be awfully NICE if we have even a slightnest of evidence in the upcoming days.... I guess that will satisfy everyone :yess:

As for "I hate you with a passion" winning, personally I am not as disappointed as Belle Book is.. I think Belle Book is upset cuz of what was a complete "a$$clown" image of Nate/Jen. But I think this is mostly due to the editing of CBS. If we look closely into the Inside Videos, most of the Videos show that they are just normal couples. So I guess the bickering part (which was/are going to be Single out by CBS) aren't that unacceptable afterall if you factor those clips in.

My 2 cents :cmas51

What "safe" task? All-Stars ended in Guam, Michael ;) There was no kayaking or safes, only orienteering and plane washing  :lol3:

I get and love puddin's credibility but I understand where Belle is coming from, especially given the odious winner - much like on ANTM where there was a pretty big spoiler midway through the competition which unfortunately turned true. Still, pictures and video wouldn't hurt ;)

I have come round to the idea of them winning now.  Not happy but c'est la vie.

And although they get odious edits on the show on the insider videos they don't seem that bad (can't believe i'm typing this)

maybe this next episode will be the start of a turnaround in their relationship. :cmas18

It can be surprising that the team that is the most hateful towards each other somehow manage to win.  The other 4 teams, with some varying degrees of bickering, are pretty solid in terms of their relationship.  Those two just yell and screech.  The "we wanted to be first!" debacle seems to be a foreshadowing as to what's to come, and that can include a turnaround in their racing.   Sure I would love to have prrof.  But I've been reading spoilers here for a longer than I've posted here and I normally take her word for it.

Actually, Apskip, I'd be more willing to believe Puddin if her source had named any other team.  If the source named Kynt & Vyksin, Rachel & T.K., Ron & Christina, or even Nicholas & Donald as the winners, then I'd go along with it.  It's just that the source named Nathan & Jennifer as the winners!  It's just too much for me to accept without a massive struggle!  I guess I'm just going to hope the source accidentally misled her for once.  I just can't accept the alternative.  Sorry.

I guess if Puddin had said that the winners were anyone else but JenHate, then we wouldn't want proof and would believe her.

I have come round to the idea of them winning now.  Not happy but c'est la vie.

And although they get odious edits on the show on the insider videos they don't seem that bad (can't believe i'm typing this)

maybe this next episode will be the start of a turnaround in their relationship. :cmas18

If you're referencing my comment, I was being sarcastic. I haven't accepted it yet (much like last time) but...yeah, they win (paddles up The Nile, waving at Chip/Kim in the process). What I would like to know is if their relationship is so healthy, then why make it look like they're about to break up? No redemption edit can cover how much J/N sucked in the beginning (spitting on the ground, calling the other girls bitches, etc) or their clear distate for each other at times ("DONT COMPARE ME TO OTHER GIRLS!" "I hate you with a passion" and the like).

I'm anticipating the turnaround of their relationship to start next episode. I also expect them to not get first until the final leg (or the first part of a TBC).

So from all the focus on the Goths, could that mean that Ron/Christina get philiminated next? They get hit with a speed bump and the possible delay puts them in last.

I really don't dislike Nate.  And Jenn is okay until she bugs me, then she bugs the hell out of me.

Really the only reason I don't want this team to win is due to Jenn's comments in Africa about being upset that Azaria & Hendekea won already, so they should let the other teams get a chance.

WTF....Yeah thats how you compete.

As to Puddin, well since I have been posting here, she hasn't been wrong about who wins.  Starting with TTOW beating my beloved Eric & Jeremy, then her saying how she heard Tyler & James won, then getting the whole damn boot list for All Stars.

And frankly with the rumored final three, I always thought Jenn & Nate had the best chance out of those three teams.

1.  They hustle and generally do tasks well.
2.  Rachel & Tk get lost everywhere, and there history with tasks go from really good to terrible.
3.  Nicolas & Don, sorry guys but you are just okay at tasks and don't have real hustle.  And in a final leg, being quick on your feet is huge.

So really not surprised.  Soon as we found out they weren't eliminated in Lithuania, I knew they very well might have won.

wats up im new to the board but I have some information that I think that everyone would like to know. I currently work at the St. Regis in Dana Point, CA. And I saw TK and Rachel!!!! They checked in on December 7th and i believe they checked out on December 16th. Well anyways, the reason I believe they won was because they stayed in the presidential suite ($1600+ a night) and ran a total bill close to $15,000. As far as I am concerned this is not the lifestyle of a substitute teacher and a flower shop owner. anyways they seemed really really nice as I got to speak a few words to T.K.; and rachel is so pretty in real life. I had to tell them I was a fan of TAR and they just smiled and T.K. said cool. hahah but i am used to seeing famous people, i saw jennifer aninston and reese witherspon just to name a couple! feel free to ask me questions

Well, I hope Dolfan's assumption is correct!  I'd rather have T.K. & Rachel win than Nathan & Jennifer -- I'd rather have any team win than the bickering dating couple!  I've seen enough bickering couples to last a lifetime, and every time I see one I get bad flashbacks of Jonathan & Victoria!

I've been to the St. Regis and I can attest it is an awesome hotel.  I had relatives staying there and this is truely a 5star hotel.  The rooms, the entire grounds are amazing.  Here's the website: http://www.stregismb.com/ (http://www.stregismb.com/)

My first thought when reading this was that perhaps it was a prize they won for coming in first on a leg.  But are the racers given their vacation prizes before the finale airs on television?  For some reason I thought that they couldn't cash in their prizes until after the show aired?  Of course I could be wrong.

Quote
Were they able to find the room?

:cmaslol  Chateau that was hilarious.  I will add this though, it can be hard finding a room in that hotel.  seriously.  When my relatives where staying there, they gave me the room number and I proceeded to get lost in trying to find it.  There are two different wings and I went right (when  I should have gone left) and 20 minutes later I was as confused as could be because I was on the right floor but I couldn't find the room number.  I had to ask one of the housekeeping staff where the room was.  The problem for me was that if you headed left off the entrance of the hotel it takes you past shops and to conference rooms.  so it can seem you are headed in the wrong direction if you don't keep on going and see the turn off to the other wing of the hotel.  So yeah, finding your room is not an easy task.  At least it was for me.  :cmaslol

no unfortunately I never got any pictures  :cmas4 . I wish I would have whipped out my cell phone. However I do know that the stay was not comped or a reward, as T.K. used a mastercard or visa according to my manager (who is also a big fan). But I was thinking, don't they get paid after the show is done being aired? or are they just spending because they know they will be receiving the money soon?
Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers

They get paid after the finale aired, so my guess is that it's anticipatory spending. Mind you, second place still gets 25 grand, not to mention they may have changed jobs since the race started (perhaps TK got a promotion or something).

Rumors are second-place prize for some seasons has been $25,000 or $50,000, still a nice chunk of money.

If Puddin says she has a reliable source, Puddin had a reliable source.  If Puddin says the sun will come up  tomorrow, the sun will come tomorrow.

Note that Nathan and Jennifer are getting a much better edit now; and they worked well together in Italy winning the Roadblock with ease and Nate listened well as Jenn explained how to wave and throw the flag.  So they won the Detour with ease.  Then went on to the pit stop only to be second to the fast forwarders,  they are working well togehter and I would not be surprised at all if they win the big one million.

Your favorite team may not be a winner, but the team which runs the race well usually wins.  The New England Patriots play well, but they still may lose the Super Bowl.

And a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night :cmas10

Well actually most of the time the team that does better during the race comes in 2nd. Dustin and Kandice -- Colin and Christie -- Rob and Amber -- Tara and Will -- Kris and Jon -- Eric and Jeremy (well they were pretty tied with the hippies actually) -- im sure there are more.

I obviously know now based off of last year that puddin wouldn't post a spoiler she thinks is not true. I'm just hoping it isn't lol.
Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers
Post by: mswood on December 25, 2007, 02:39:39 PM
Actually I have to agree with G-Man and with Michael.  Usually the team that races better gets 2nd, with a few exceptions.  Reichen & Chip were the first team to win that actually had the best average performance in a season the next time that happened was season 10's Tyler & James.

But usually that typical race well do win (just not usually the best).

You can be a rather poor racing team and as long as you aren't last (or are saved by non elimination or multiple non eliminations yeah Flo & Zach and BJ & Tyler I am talking about you), all you really need to is run an ok final leg, and typically do well once you reach the destination city.

To keep the possibility of a photo finish they try and assure that all teams are equalized far more then in a typical leg making it anyones game.

As to the edit, of Jenn & Nathan.  I don't think they were edited in a positive light this last episode, I think they were just much more positive.  Even in clips they never lose it even when frustrated with being lost.  And this does happen.  Now obviously they could have been doing a smackdown on each other and never make the aired footage or the online material (nature of the program), but I don't believe this was the case in this episode.  Usually when they are doing well and not having big problems they tend to get along much better.  Now if they had gotten passed, by other teams I would imagine the stress to get far greater and see more frustration and anger.  This episode was much closer to episode #2, 3, and 4 where they typical were in or near the front of the pack.  Episode 1 when they went from 2nd to having no luck (or skill with animals) to next to last, hell yes tempers were up.  Episode 5, when they go from front of the pack to mid pack and have trouble with navigation and with tasks the anger and frustration comes out.  In #6, while they were in near the front of the pack they didn't know it, they didn't know where the other teams were.  And this seems to be a team when they have problems they fight..  When things go well, they usually are pretty descent to each other.

I think India might be a huge shock for them....he, he.

India is great for that.

I thought Flo and Zack too had the best average of the final three in their season, maybe not but i thought after looking back they actually kicked butt most of that season. Rob and Brennan were better than Frank and Marg too, but who really knows they were so close it wasnt as obvious. and the LINZ family was the best too i believe.  But thats like ages ago!

With the TK and Rachel thing you never know, for all we know they can be natuarally rich [rich mommy or daddy] or maybe even they won the trip who knows.  So i dont know if we can really trust that.  However if people know they win they will splurge before they get the money.  I believe Sandra in Survivor PI was spending up the wazoo cause she knew she had at least 100K.

I mean between TK and Rachel's lameness and Nathan and Jen's nastiness i dont know what one is worse!

Tyler, that is an interesting analysis. When I look at AR11 and compare Dustin and Kandice to Oswald and Danny I conclude that Dustin and Kandice, with their 4 leg wins and only 0.2 worse on total average, was the superior team. All the rest appear to be non-controversial for which team was statistically  best.

Outstanding spoiler huholah :jam:!! Kudos! and thank you for bringing it here  :wtg: :cheer3: :gj:

Welcome to our world, Puddin; me and Peach were consistently lied to before and throughout the season. If you need defense from the lynch mob, let us know.  :js:  :killme:

Don't worry, Puddin.  I'm not going to rag on you -- much.   :lol3:

I'm just going to celebrate the long-awaited elimination of Nathan & Jennifer and hope for a Ronald & Christina win!  I'm not going to hide under a chair -- and I probably wouldn't have even if Ron & Christina had been eliminated and not my least-favorite team!

So at least we know that TK and Rachel have enough money to pay for their fancy hotel stay.

I really don't think I was lied to, I honestly believe that the person passed on what they were told was in good faith, so someone lied but really its over what can I say? And yeah I had a gut feeling the past few days that something was wrong, just little things I heard but stood behind the spoiler but really is it so bad? Like most of you I didn't want them to win. Now its anyones game.

Maybe that info about TK/Rachel staying in that expensive hotel DOES mean something and they do win. Boy, that would suck. Most boring team ever.

F3 gets $10,000 and even after taxes that's enough for a night or two in a nice hotel (or maybe he was there for part of a teaching inservice and he brought Rachel along with him). Loose spending isn't necessarily anticipatory.

NONE of the prizes are awarded until after the race airs on TV, at least that's how it was in the past.

Just because they stayed in an expensive hotel does not indicate that they win.

Yeah but think about it.  Taxes will leave roughly 60% of that income.  And that isn't a lot.  YOu also have to consider that most teams also loose revenue from missed work roughly a months pay (unless they can or have vacation time to use).  That cuts into it even further.

And teams are known for being a little more free with money after they have won the million, so its very possible.

Would they spend almost all of their money on some hotel if they won the 10K(more like 6k after taxes)? No, it seems like something someone would do if they anticipated getting one million dollars pretty soon.

I've got some terrible news. As most of you guys love TK & Rachel as well as myself. I have now found out by the manager who told me the cost of their stay and all the details was messing with me because he knew how much I was into the show. I called him right after the episode as I was in disbelief on how he could be correct, he then revealed to me that TK was there with some teaching friends and they were there at the restaurant. I CANT BELIEVE HE LIED TO ME!! oh well, they still have a chance to win. But there was no $15,000 stay. I only saw them when they first checked in so I never could see how long the duration was. SO, bottomline is that they were there for a measly 2 hours!! I hope I didnt bum you guys. You can thank my manager.

My heart was racing tonight when it was down to Nick and Don vs Nate and Jen since we had a sighting of Gramps but a spoiler for Nate and Jen to win.

Surely and probably you jest. None of the stunts let any of the Roadblock contestants anywhere near the wheel. Ronald was in the right hand seat in a country with left hand drive(just like most of the non-British world). The stunt driver did all of the "rocking". The same happened underwater. The woman stunt driver did all the navigation and making sure that it was exactly 17 seconds under water.

I just dropped by to say that we ought to start taking that St. Regis spoiler more seriously. Ha! Oh, well. There's something fun in not knowing *every* time. I got nothing from the Nate & Jen party last night, spoilerwise.
Title: Re: The Amazing Race 12 Spoilers

if nate and jenn did win, they could be sued for lots of money for letting go of the truth or revealing. or puddin's reliable source could be in serious trouble. I know that TAR and several other similar shows make the contestants sign a contract for any information getting leaked. So, it was after all i good thing that the source was wrong...although i would have liked to have seen the money taken away from nate and jenn!

Well, sources aren't generally in trouble because their identity is kept hidden for that very reason. Keep in mind, some sources can be lied to or believe something they are saying to be 100% true only to find out that they have been fooled all along.

No, I never thought you were being lied to.  You both were misinformed, that's all.  Anyway, the only reason why I didn't want to believe your spoiler was because the possibility of those two winning was too horrible to contemplate, but even then I thought you were just misinformed.
