Amazing Race 10 Spoilers
woden:
In the past, have they counted NA as a continent if they only travel to US locations? Either way, I think we have some solid info on NZ (Asian team spotted on plane, MissWendyWings' testimony on Sucks). The gap between Mongolia (5/31) and New Zealand (6/2) isn't big enough for another leg (Vietnam) in between. It's big enough for a 36 hour pitstop, though.

Just popping in to note that Singapore is NOT going to be a location for TAR10.
If it were Mediacorp would be pimping it like crazy (reference: TAR3 when they even FILMED several commercials around Singapore themselves), but it seems like they're not even screening it.
Thank God for AXN.

Sorry, Rob, check your globe or atlas and you will see that the two major islands which make up the country of New Zealand are many miles to the East of the continent of Australia. They are considered to be part of Oceania which is not a continent, but includes all the Pacific Islands which are located in the South Pacific. Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines which are also Islands are considered part of Asia.
Neobie:
Just for the record on what TPTB counts as 'countries' and 'continents'...
TAR1: "9 countries, 4 continents and 35 000 miles"
North America (United States), Africa (S Africa, Zambia, Tunisia), Europe (France, Italy), Asia (India, Thailand, China)
The teams visited Alaska. Botswana, which the teams drove through to get to S Africa from Zambia, was not counted.
TAR2: "5 continents, 8 countries and 52 000 miles"
North America (United States), South America (Brazil), Africa (S Africa, Namibia), Asia (Thailand, China), Australia (Australia, New Zealand)
The teams visited Hawaii and Alaska.
TAR3: "4 continents, 13 countries, 41 000 miles"
North America (United States, Mexico), Europe (United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Africa (Morocco), Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam)
The teams visited Hawaii. Spain, which was a drive-thru, was counted. But does this only make 12 countries?
TAR4: "4 continents, 24 cities, 44 000 miles"
North America, Europe, Asia, Australia
No number of countries listed.
TAR5: "6 continents, 11 countries, 72 000 miles"
North America (Canada), South America (Uruguay, Argentina), Europe (Russia), Africa (Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania), Asia (UAE, India, Philippines), Australia (New Zealand)
United States was not counted. Alternatively, the country 'left out' could be Kenya, where there was only a stop-over (but a sign-up counter for flights to Kilimanjaro). New Zealand was counted as part of a continent.
TAR6: "4 continents, 24 cities, more than 40 000 miles"
North America, Europe, Africa, Asia
No number of countries listed.
TAR7: "5 continents, 25 cities, over 40 000 miles"
North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe
No number of countries listed.
TAR8: "25 days, 50 cities, and more than 600 consecutive hours together as a family"
TAR9: 5 continents, 9 countries, more than 59 000 miles"
North America, South America (Brazil), Europe (Russia, Germany, Italy, Greece), Asia (Oman, Thailand, Japan), Australia (Australia)
The've kept North America as a continent, but did not count the US as a country, even though Alaska was visited. This could be due to the flag task at the end, which might have caused confusion for the viewer if '10 countries' was announced.
So in conclusion, New Zealand is accepted as part of Australia/Australasia/Oceania the continent, and the United States is not counted unless Hawaii or Alaska is visited (except in TAR9). Just a little repeat: the mileage WAY exceeds 40 000 miles if New Zealand is added; could the spoilers have been TAR: Asia? I know Kogs is pretty confident about New Zealand as a stop (just as I know Puddin is sure Paris is not a decoy), do you mind elaborating on what you know?

Good point, Neobie. That's the way I'm thinking, baring any new info. TAR Asia was racing at about the same time as TAR10. NZ would be a logical stop for TAR Asia, as TAR has already been there quite a few times. As for the sighting of an "Asian looking" racer in NZ. Well, duh, all of the TAR Asia racers are Asian. That would imply that the "near miss" of the two shows might have happened on the Asian continent. But it's just wild speculation at this point. Where is that "first" real TAR10 preview? Hoping it shows during Survivor tonight.
