There are alot of restaurants but if you narrow down to seafood specialties, then the Una Hotel Palace is a little further down on Etnea. Google has it as 1/2 mile from the market to the hotel. Might be a little too far if the clues are correct.

Looks like I may have found a match of puddins pictures and a vidcap of Lori & Dave running.


This looks like the same street but looking from different ends.  The Dave & Lori view is looking up a street with a slight hill.  The other is looking down a hill.  Note the buildings, the balconies, the shrubbery, the little thingy on the roof, etc.
I think puddin found another one (and didn't even know it).      

Wow, I think I got a "hat trick" tonight.  I may have found the street name and location where Dave & Lori are running.  It looks like the intersection of Via Antonino di Sangiuliano and Via Etnea.  Dave & Lori are runniing north on Via Etnea towards the Piazza Stesicoro (amphitheatre).

I've attached an older view of the corner, plus a Google Earth view.

Nerds running clue in hand ( Dave has a white paper , Lori the yellow envelope ) , perhaps looking for the Piazza Stesicoro amphitheatre to find the next clue to lead them to the detour ( or as some spec they snag the  Fast Forward ?), Lori is still wearing a light sweatjacket so its early morning with the sun peeking over the buildings ?
Really I have no idea  :present: , why is Lori still carrying the yellow envelope ?

Agree, looks like a match.  I'm just as confused about where the Nerds are going as you are.  Are they going to use the FF when they get to the amphitheatre?  Are they coming from the fish task?  Why don't we see them doing any fish tasks?  Why are the beach bums the only ones seen at the amphitheatre?  Where are R&Y going?  So many questions left to answer.  Oh well, at least we solved one additional vidcap mystery.     
Oh yeah, I'll have a Manhattan, straight up.

According to GE it should be a straight shot: down the hill on Etnea from the ruins (we get to hear Phil say "am-pee-theater" again), through the piazzas and into the alley (Puddin's upper-level photo) that leads to the fish market. Instead, the nerds are hanging a left at Giuliano (second arrow). There might be a different task, or maybe they're getting lost.

Speaking of strange things, where is Yolanda carrying her fish   I think located where Yolanda is in the vidcap below.  She appears to be going south on Via Crociferi through the arch (black arrow) and into Piazza S.Francesco d'Assisi.  Thats the church behind the construction wall.

Why would she be running south toward to fish market with a swordfish   This is truly strange.  Perhaps they are really really LOST!

OK, I'm confused! Which street is which in the photos you posted.  Are Nerds on Via Etnea and crossing Via Antonio di San Giuliano? If they are coming from the fish market after completing the detour, they would not be going after the fast forward.  But I think that they may be coming now down Via Etnea after picking up the clue at the Roman Amphitheatre in Piazza Stesicoro.  And still may be headed away from the fish market (Mercato della Pescheria) which is located in Via Garibaldi between The Fontana dell'Amenano  in the Piazza Alonzo di Benedetto and Porta Garibaldi

If the Nerds are turning LEFT from Via Etnea onto Via Antonio di San Giuliano, they may be headed for the Tourist Information Office which is right around the corner. Or just down Via Antonio di San Giuliano is located Palasso Manganelli whch was used as the setting for some of scenes in Luchino Visconnti's film The Leopard  This might be the site of the FF and have something to do with the making of the film.

As I read all of the above and look at the pictures, to me it is clear that the Nerds our beloved David and Lori have run south down Via Etnea from Piazza Stesicoro (note that it is one way UP the hill) and have now turned left into Via Antonino di San Giuliano.  They have picked up the clue at the Roman Amphitheatre and are either (1) completely lost heading away from Piazza Alonzo di Benedetto and the Mercato della Pescheria (being lost would not be new) or (2) more likely in my view, they are headed toward Palazzo Manganelli to perform the Fast Forward.  Note that they along with all the other teams are not hauling their backpacks.  To me this means they have parked cars somewhere and are doing all the tasks in Catania on foot. 

I think that after the Detour, they will return to their cars and head south to Siracusa and the Kayak club.

Talking of cars, I have checked and doubled checked the shots of Barry in the car and as far as I can tell the car we see him in the promos for EP6 is not exactly the same as the one he was driving in Palermo.  Close but it sure looks like the headrest in both cars is of a different color, and the door handles seem different.  This to me again tells me that they must have flown from Palermo to Catania and picked up new Fiats at the airport.

OK kids, it's Reality Check Time!

It happens every week, we take two steps forward and one step back.  Round and round we go, where we stop nobody knows. 

Just to let everyone know, the vidcap of Dave & Lori (shown below) shows a view in the background of Via Anotnino di Sangiuliano looking directly WEST.  Note slight hill going up the street

So......that means Dave & Lori are running NORTH on Via Etnea.   OK, back to square one.   



You can check the elevation (slope) of Via Antonino di Sangiuliano for yourself on Google Earth.  Just run the cursor along the street and see the elevation change at the bottom.

Sorry, but we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot every week.  Lucky we have an extra day to recover.

Poor puddin....the "whipping boy" for the board.    Not much left, except ID of where Ray & Yolanda are running, and where BJ&T are carrying their fish.

IMHO, I don't think we have enough info to say what D&L are doing/going.  The simple answer might just be that they just arrived in Catania, and are heading for their first clue.   Anything else is pure speculation.
