I think they often flip clips for promotions (much more often than they do for clips in the broadcast).
It could be just for aesthetics. Someone might like the look of the action moving from left to right or vice versa depending on context of other clips included in the promo.

During an intense challenge, some teams are neck and neck as they scale a waterfall while others are left watching as other teams pass them by.
