Good call Chateau -- nope, my mileages were just as the crow flies. Connections alone probably give us another 5,000-10,000 miles.
Looking at the quick pace of the first episode (below), I do still wonder if we're missing a leg somewhere. The dates would allow it. Wouldn't be shocked still to have a second SA leg, another leg in Russia, something like that.

Did Phil give away which direction the race route takes ,Deserts of Oman to mountains of Sicily to the winter snows of Moscow?
Phil quote
" with an existing relationship,'' tearing their way through five continents and more than 60,000 miles in 29 days.
Keoghan, a career adventurer, New Zealand TV host and author of self-help inspiration books such as No Opportunity Wasted, insists the new Amazing Race will be a return to the adrenaline rush of old. It will feature fascinating people living out their dreams in a series of exciting adventures, from the deserts of Oman to the mountains of Sicily to the winter snows of Moscow, in a mad dash to cross the finish line first and win $1 million.
It's The Great Race meets Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, with a dash of National Geographic thrown in for good measure, and a lot of waiting at airports.
