Last week, teams travelled from Huntsville, Alabama to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana during their race through the U.S. around the world. We saw several teams not think during a stopover, and as a result, the Paolo family benefitted, and the Schroeder family were eliminated from the Race.

Episode 5 - We're Getting Out of the Country, Girls
We are at Preservation Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana, the fourth Pit Stop in a race around the world. Here teams have a chance to eat, sleep and mingle with each other, but maybe not with the Weavers, since they're pretty aloof, and they have no idea what's in store for them on this leg.

The Bransen family, who were the first team to arrive at 12:40pm, are the first to leave at 12:40am. They're told to fly 2000 miles to Panama City, Panama and make their way 31 miles to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, take a boat to an island, and find a man who will give them their next clue.

Paolo, 12:41am. They're happy to be leaving the country.

Linz, 12:49am. They all squeeze into a small taxi. The Bransens and Paolo get theirs later. Bransen call ahead and find out that the Continental flight arrives about 2.5 hours before the American flight

Godlewski, 1:39am. They check a map and get a cab.

Weaver, 1:52am. They think that alliances are stupid.

Gaghan, 1:54am. Their strategy is to stay second-to-last.

All the teams are lined up at Continental. Linz get on, as do Bransen and Paolo. The flight fills up after that, and so Gaghan, Godlewski and Weaver are forced to take American.

Panama City, 6:40pm. The first teams arrive, and head to the Institute. We hear our first rapido, por favor of the show. Paolo arrives first and we find out that the place opens at 7am, meaning that they're bottlenecked. The teams are camping out.

9:10pm, the remaining teams arrive and find out that everyone's bunched up.

Morning, the teams head out in the order they arrive and look for the "dude in the hammock". It's a lovely view. Linz seem to have a slow boat, and get passed by everyone. Except Gaghan, whose driver is stopping to pick up a buddy. Nice.

Dad Gaghan: Oh, come on!
Mom: You cannot pick up!
Driver relents.
Mom: That was a scare!

Island, Paolos in 1st looking for Ricardo Diaz.
They find a man, who is NOT Ricardo.
Bransen, 2nd.
Godlewski, 3rd, Weaver 4th.
Godlewskis find another fake Ricardo.
Bransen dad can't run.
Linz, 5th, arrive on the island.
Gaghan, now in last, still not at the island.

Godlewski, 1st, DETOUR.
There was a FAST FORWARD.
Rhythm, or Coos.
Rhythm, ride by bus to Caso Viejo, collect 4 musical instruments, deliver on foot to Take 5 Jazz & Wine where the bandleader gives them the next CLUE.
Coos, use binoculars to search a nearby forest for local birds. Find them on this Aviary chart. If they circle the wrong birds, they have to repeat the task till they get it right.

Phil: This is the only FAST FORWARD in the entire race. Teams make their way to the Pacific side, and find the crane on Pier 14. Teams break into 2 pairs and team bungee jump for the FF.

puddin:
Godlewskis, Rhythm.
Paolos choose the FF.
Weaver, 3rd.
Godlewski, then Linz.
Teams find Ricardo one by one.
Bransen, 5th.
Gaghan 6th, yelling at the boat driver to hurry it up!

Weavers move into 1st with some fancy boating.
Rapido! Rapido!
Teams exhort their drivers.
The Paolos are disgusted with their driver as teams pass.

Godlewski now 1st, may have passed their dock!
Paolos move into 1st, Bransen 2nd.
Godlewskis have to tell their driver where to go.
So do the Linz.
Gaghans catch up.
Weaver: Andale!
Godlewskis fall into 4th.
Weavers, last.

The bus they'll take is called the Diabolo Rojo (Red Devil).
Linz and Godlewski ... "Let's get rid of this Florida team! They're rude!"

puddin:
Paolos stick with the Fast Forward, head to the Pacific side.

Gaghans also going for the Fast Forward.
Dad: You ready to bungee jump, Billy?
Billy looks beplexed.

Mom Weaver asks directions.

puddin:
Billy: I see the other team! We can beat 'em!
Buses stop.
Paolos and Gaghans race on foot.
Ticket belongs to ... PAOLOS.
Mom Gaghan: No way they'll do it. They're scared.
Paolos ascend the elevator to the top of the crane with lots of "Omigod! Omigod!"
Dad Gaghan: They only have to have 1 not do it.
Mom Paolo: If we don't do it the next team gets to do it.

The Paolos Dad and Son DO IT, shrieking all the way.
Mom Gaghan: They did it. Oh, man.
Mom and DJ line it up for the next jump.
DJ: I can't do it.
