TAR8 EP3 ~"I Don't Kiss , I Make out "
gingerman28:
No hint is there of how the teams get from the Charleston Airport down to the Visitors Center. Do they go by cab? That would be a neat trick to get six people in one cab (along with the driver). They do pick up SUV's at the Huntsville Visitors Center (they have a lot of driving to do, and will use them the next day to head toward Taladega and even on perhaps to New Orleans.) But what mode of travel do they do around Charleston?
I don't recall any specific mention of how many teams are on each bus, just that two buses left at 6PM and 9PM, so it is conceivable that the girls could have caught an earlier bus. Or as happened in TAR6 (I think it was) the team who took the fast forward still ended up on the same bus as the others but after it arrived at the destination city, the team went directly to the pit stop and did not have to do the Detour or Roadblock. Just my muddled memory, that is all.
Chateau d If:
Hey, GMan! Are those bus departure times for real?
I have always just been estimating them based on the Huntsville arrival time(s) and about 11 hours for the trip.
Also, they could have had vehicles waiting at the airport.

Tensions mount at the airport when families show signs of wear and tear and biting words are exchanged.
Schroders vs. Weavers
One racer turns a cumbersome task into playtime, goofing off and annoying her family in the process.
The Sisters or little Carissa?? We know its not Megan of the Linz, and prolly not the Bansons, and prolly not the Weavers
After many failed attempts at a task and with no end in sight, elimination seems imminent for one family.
Aiello's and car trouble. But iddoesnt lead to elimination just puts them on the second bus, and then maybe they still get eliminated.

Chateau: I'm looking through my notes to find the reference to the two buses from Charleston to Huntsville, but just have the note that two buses were used one leaving at 3PM and the other at 6PM and the trip took 9 hours. Can't find the actual post, but will look some more.
In the meantime I found this post on Blows from Sept. 2:
confirmed location/pit stop of TAR 8"
A friend of mine is starting a new internship with the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center in the pulic relation department. The past summer she was asked to come in one night for an event, which turned out to be the filming of The Amazing Race. She met the teams and the shows crew. So I know for a fact that this is a stop on the race route.
This would confirm your contention that the event at the NASA Space Camp was actually filmed during the wee hours of the morning (one night for an event) so that the teams would be leaving (as we have shots of) for the Marriott Hotel in the early daylight hours of the morning. This also makes sense since during the day (Monday) the camp area would be awash in staff and campers. All this late night activity must be takiing a toll on the Gaghan kids!!
Here is another post from TVoP which again confirms the late night filming at NASA:

I'm going to be good and not say where the racers are (I promised Mr. Ripley68), but I just had to comment. They filmed at a local attractions last night (and have to finish this afternoon). They did not put any signs or clues out until the racers were very close. They are leaving this afternoon and there are no marked cars and the clue box has been removed until they are ready to leave, and then I guess they'll put it back out. So people seeing clue boxes around Toronto for days would not happen. The producers are very careful to keep those things out only as long as necessary. I only saw them setting up for the "challenge." I have no idea what it was (neither did the staff of the attraction) and saw some production crews and security. Right now (8:50 AM central time) the production trucks are out front of a local hotel). I didn't see any racers or Phil (dammit). Mr. Ripley68 asked if I wanted him to set me up with Phil. Nah, I just want to see him!

--- Quote --- that two buses were used one leaving at 3PM and the other at 6PM and the trip took 9 hours.
--- End quote ---
I think I posted that in Sucks a while back. |( I can't remember how I got the 9 hours because now when I run the to/from on Google Maps it comes back 11 hours plus.
The scenario I am currently believing is that the two buses came (together or separately) as reported just before midnight (first bus). And then, they made the teams wait individual amounts of time that correspond with when they had finished the last task in Charleston. The logic I am trying to scape together here is that (because of Dennis) TPTB decided to round up the teams and ship them to Huntsville as a unit and then let them go according to where they stood in Charleston.
Because, didn't some article say that the SUVs left the Huntsville visitor center between 1 and 5 am? You know, individually, not as a mass of eight. Or, it could be two masses of 4 teams with the first four at 1 am and the last 4 at 5 am. :unde:
