History is always open to interpretation.  People’s perceptions and beliefs influence our records of the past. Maya, an ancient nation steeped in mythical history, were well known for their powerful gods and leaders. The Mayans erected temples worshipping Nakum, the god of fire, and his enemy, Yaxha, the god of water. The Mayans diligently tried to appease these two warring gods, with faith and sacrifice. Ultimately Nakum’s and Yaxha’s battle for supremacy destroyed the Mayan nation. Yet their battle continues, for there can only be one survivor.
