The only thing I worry is that CBS is intentionally putting out all of these spoilers to keep us interested and not thinking that Rob & Amber winning is just a formality.

Bets with bookie may reveal 'Race' winners

NEW YORK - Online wagerers: We're sorry to tell you, you've been eliminated. Offshore bookie Sportsbook.com suspended betting on the winner of the seventh edition of "The Amazing Race" last week, citing unusual betting patterns on one team from accounts originating from California and Massachusetts over a 12-hour period.

"We saw a disproportionate amount of wagering coming in on them," Sportsbook.com marketing director Alex Czajkowski told The Associated Press. "They were betting at the limits a first time customer can bet at."

Although this is a first for both "The Amazing Race" and Sportsbook.com, this isn't the first reality TV show spoiled by online wagers. Betting was suspended for the Amazon and Pearl Island "Survivors," the second "Bachelor" and the second "Apprentice" after heavy - and accurate - wagers on the winners.

But unlike "Survivor" and "Apprentice," which have live finales, "Amazing Race" is pre-taped. During the race's final episode, each of the eliminated two-person teams is at the finish line to congratulate the top three.

(SPOILER ALERT: Stop reading now if you don't want to know the possible ending.)

Sportsbook.com stopped accepting wagers when "thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars" were bet on Uchenna and Joyce Agu, the married couple from Houston. Czajkowski said the average Sportsbook.com bet is $60 while the maximum can be a few thousand dollars, depending on a customer's betting history.

"We saw all this money going on Uchenna and Joyce and in a very short amount of time," said Czajkowski. "Those are all signs something's up."

The Agus, who said they want to win the race's $1 million prize for in-vitro fertilization, are currently in fourth place in the race around the world. According to their CBS bios, Uchenna is an energy broker who once worked for Enron while Joyce is a sales manager who once worked for WorldCom.

"All of it was coming out of Massachusetts and California, which is kind of strange because they're big media centers and weirdly enough they're not where Uchenna and Joyce come from," said Czajkowski.

In last week's episode, the pair joined forces with former "Survivor" contestants and engaged couple Amber Brkich and Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano and on-and-off couple Ray Housteau and Deana Shane. Three teams call the Golden State home, while Mariano is the only racer from Massachusetts.

CBS was tightlipped on whether the Texans stomp the competition.

"We don't confirm nor deny any information and we allow the press to run inaccurate information about the results," a CBS spokeswoman said.
