Previously on TAR, 9 teams scurried around Santiago, Chile! Danny's navigation came to the rescue for Angie. Sunny & Bizzy drove into last place, but staged another comeback! In a battle for 1st, Juan & Shane were edged out by Ricky & Cesar to ring in their third one in a row. Meanwhile, Kishori & Karishma, frustrated, were out of it.

Remaining 8 teams fly into Cordoba. Group 1 of Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane depart. ROUTE INFO: Plaza de Bicentenario!

It's revealed to be a mega leg! Ricky are gauging their energy. Cesar says whatever they are doing is working. Juan says they were emotionally invested and want to run a "clean" race.

Group 2 of Angie & Danny, Rod & Leticia, and Amber & Vinny go. Amber & Vinny want to follow Danny right off the bat. "Start of a mega leg, let's go!" - Danny

We return to Cordoba as the boyfriends are turning on the roundabout to the plaza. Clue on the statues! DETOUR: Bicicleta or Boleadora.

In Bicicleta, teams must use a stationary bike connected to a grinder to shred plastic containers to fill a trash bin to receive their next clue. In Boleadora, teams have 10 attempts to wrap a bole around a moving bull target.

Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane both do the accuracy task. Angie & Danny's goal is to SURVIVE the mega leg, not be 1st.

Amber & Vinny's goal is to leech onto Angie & Danny... how disappointing. They arrive as well as Rod & Leticia. They all grab the Detour clue.

All three choose the Boleadores and they all want to go together. Is this kindergarten?

Ricky & Cesar arrive at the boleadora site. They re-read the instructions and see that they each have to get a target within the 10 attempts. Ricky goes first while Cesar is waiting from behind. Ricky fails.

Yvonne & Mel, Sunny & Bizzy, and Derek & Shelisa leave in the last group. They all point out they are going alongside the river.

Juan & Shane arrive quickly at the boleadores and Shane strategies to wrap the bole around the bull target's legs. Yvonne & Mel want to ask for directions while Derek & Shelisa are busy reading the map. Yvonne & Mel find the Detour clue. They do the boles.

Ricky & Cesar v.s Juan & Shane at the Detour for a little bit. Group 2 is arriving. Rod & Leticia, Angie & Danny, and Amber & Vinny see the guys. Danny convinces everyone to switch and strings Rod & Leticia along... can we stop with whatever they're doing...

Sunny & Bizzy receive directions. Sunny doesn't know entirely where they are going.

Cesar and Shane both score their targets.

Juan launches the bole and does it!!! 1st place currently for them. ROUTE INFO: Circuito Lobo Race.

"Getting done with the Detour before Ricky & Cesar was huge." - Shane

Ricky still going while Group 2 gets to the stationary bikes choice.

Amber & Vinny hauling azz with the bottles as Vinny starts pedaling. Rod is enjoying this so much!  They have to sweep up their pieces from what Amber said.

Ricky hits the target on his second seventh throw. They move on in 2nd as Yvonne & Mel arrive at the bulls.

Sunny & Bizzy choose the bikes.

Amber says "it's a marathon". Angie says Danny is competing against an NFL pro and talk about switching positions. Vinny is struggling and Amber is absolutely stunned. They switch as well. "Once you get a bottle in the middle, it gets extremely jammed." - Vinny.

Vinny tries shoving Amber's right foot down the bike because it's not budging. "What's wrong with our bike?" - Amber

We come back to Tour de Trash as Amber & Vinny can't SoulCycle their recyclables quickly enough. "Something's wrong with our bike, babe". Amber explains the rings of the bottles pauses the momentum. They have to pedal back and forth to get the pieces all the way through like a large-scale crusher.

Derek & Shelisa arrive at the boles while Yvonne & Mel are attempting their throws. They miss the first round.

Vinny points out Rod is a beast at the bike. "Thunder thighs" - Leticia. They end up finishing in 3rd. They... wait for the other two. 

Juan & Shane and Ricky & Cesar are making their gap even larger. Meanwhile, Sunny & Bizzy are heading to the Detour still. "This is like for the earth." - Sunny.

As Vinny & Amber and Angie & Danny still bike, Rod & Leticia are looking for directions from a local on a map. The other two finish up in 4th and 5th. They all leave together.

Shelisa tossing the boles and catches her half of the bole! Melissa is struggling. Shelisa questions what Derek is doing with his bole. Yvonne gets a catch while Melissa still misses. Both have to start over.

Sunny & Bizzy are at the bikes. Sunny thinks everyone else is stuck at the other Detour... or they are in dead last.

Derek & Shelisa are arguing about giving each other cues. And Yvonne & Melissa end up getting their attempts successfully! They leave toward Circuito in 6th. Shelisa sees Derek still finagling with the bole and says they are done and need to follow their original gut instinct.

So, the rally challenge is this part of the megaleg RB and the soccer task of the second one. Also the meat and the finger tips challenges are the sides of the second Detour.

We return to Derek throwing his last bole and Shelisa forcing him to switch. "Your throws were completely off. You weren't even close!"- Shelisa

Juan is asking for directions in Spanish and they are 10 minutes away. Ricky & Cesar arrive at the circuit racing field. ROADBLOCK: "Who's got a good sense of direction?"

One team member must memorize a sequence of turns their driver makes and recreate the dusty path on a board to receive their next clue.

Ricky does the task and is immediately strapped into the rally car. He loves the experience and Cesar is taken aback.

Ricky says they only have THREE minutes to finish the path puzzle. Ricky couldn't figure it out he says in his post-clarity confessional.

Amber wants to follow Danny. Aha, so we have the main offenders. Vinny says it's not always a good idea.

Juan & Shane arrive at the RB and Juan does it. Ricky needs to redo everything, track and all. 2nd attempt at the board. Juan is taken on a full-throttle ride. Juan has experience mapping out routes and paths.

Sunny & Bizzy finish the bike shredding in 7th. Juan is going for his first attempt at the puzzle while Ricky is closing his eyes and memorizing the turning of the car. Juan is crazy good at the puzzle and finished up the path accurately!!! They move on quickly.

Derek & Shelisa start biking while Angie & Danny, Rod & Leticia, and Amber & Vinny all arrive at the same time. Amber, Angie, and Leticia do the task. Ricky is getting frustrated as he keeps failing the puzzle portion.

Ricky & Cesar start getting aggravated with each other. Danny hopes his mom doesn't faint in the car. Leticia begins the puzzle after the ride. Angie is going on the ride and is surprised by the acceleration. Leticia can't solve it, but Ricky ends up getting the puzzle. Amber can't get the puzzle after her ride.

Derek & Shelisa are at it with each other at the bikes. Yvonne & Mel see they've circled this freeway so many times and can't find their way to the circuit. Sunny & Bizzy arrive at the circuit in 6th. Bizzy does the RB.

Angie can't seem to figure out the puzzle while Amber is going on another spin. Meanwhile, Derek & Shelisa finish their spin class. Moving on in last.

Yvonne & Mel arrive at the field. Yvonne volunteers.

"I can't even get mine to curve around now." - Angie. X'd out on time.

Yvonne is going into the car.

Angie is absolutely exhausted and feels defeated. She is called for medic and considers taking the 4-hour penalty since the first attempt inside the car and moving the pieces around was difficult enough. Danny pushes back and asks her to keep trying. Angie is adamant while cooling down in a shaded area.

Interesting fact so far: they had to cross the city two times until now, one from west to east to go from the Detour to the first Roadblock and now from northeast to southwest to reach the second RB location.

We return to Angie & Danny on the verge of our first penalty of the season. "Whenever you see a parent struggle as a kid, they're usually the one who is strong for you." - Danny. Angie is trying to regain her strength.

Sunny is wrong on the first try. Amber starts the puzzle. Sunny goes for another ride.

Angie gets it together and rises! Melissa is strapped in and Amber does the puzzle seamlessly. She and Vinny are out of there in 3rd. "I am so proud of you!" - Vinny

Leticia's board is no good. Amber wants to help Angie. "You go run your race." - Angie. Yikes, even Angie is telling Amber to run her own race. Amber is crying that they can't help. Oh, the Will & James symptoms are strong with this one.

Juan & Shane are driving to the stadium. Juan hopes for a soccer challenge. "Other people's race isn't going to affect our race."

One team member must play in bubble soccer and score 1 goal against their opponents.

Juan is like a kid in a candy store seeing the giant soccer balls while Shane still needs to do his RB share. Shane gets into the bubble and begins. Juan hopes he can prove himself. It's more difficult than it looks!

Cesar says this isn't like anything he's ever done before. "This is definitely not soccer." - Cesar

Derek finishes his first runaround for the course. He has an incredible sense of direction, but he's not a puzzle guy. Seems like this is a puzzle task, not necessarily a memorization task. It's just disguised as one.

Amber & Vinny and Angie & Danny are lost while Sunny & Bizzy are clear on their way to the stadium.

Juan & Shane meet at the mirador. DETOUR: Who Did It or What's Your Beef
In Who Did It, teams must find a fingerprint using latent powder, brushes, and compare them to a file and say their culprit correctly to receive their next clue. In Beef, teams must learn 14 beef cuts and place the cuts on an anatomy of a cow cutting board to receive their next clue.

Juan wants to do the meat cuts since he knows how to speak Spanish.

Cesar knocks down the other opponents and scores the goal. They move on still in 2nd.

Amber & Vinny, Angie & Danny, and Rod & Leticia enter the highway.

Sunny & Bizzy still driving. Yvonne & Melissa are surprised by being right with their directions.

Juan & Shane arrive at the butcher shop and the butcher is pronouncing these cuts at expert level.

Juan & Shane are immediately caught off-guard by the meats since they all look the same. Sunny & Bizzy arrive at the RB. Bizzy goes for it and gets absolutely KO'd on the field. Melissa & Yvonne arrive and Mel does the task. Melissa doesn't know who her teammates are.

Juan and Shane try and see what happens when they lay down random pieces of meat. Incorrect. "Hopefully we'll be able to keep this lead." - Juan

Ricky & Cesar arrive at the butcher shop. Juan reveals Cesar is a chef and they are possibly "smoked". Ricky & Cesar and Juan & Shane run to the restaurant and begin laying down the meat.

Bizzy and Melissa struggling to outsmart their opponents.

Group 2 can't work together hard enough to get out of this jam. Still driving to the estadio.

Bizzy getting her footwork in and scores! They leave in 3rd to the mirador. Melissa follows right behind with a score in 4th. "Come on, every second counts!" - Yvonne.

Juan & Shane call for another check and are CORRECT! They receive the clue. PIT STOP: Plaza de San Martin! Last team to arrive WILL be eliminated. "Let's go 5x" - Juan

Ricky & Cesar are also correct and leave in 2nd.

"This is like sudoku and if you have one thing wrong, it all falls apart." - Derek. And he doesn't have to worry about that. Shelisa is incredibly shocked how simple the puzzle is to her.

Leticia & Rod arrive at the stadium. Rod does the RB. Amber & Vinny and Angie & Danny follow in right behind.

Angie says, "you've got to be kidding" as soon as she sees the bubble suits. She needs to do it now.

Rod is knocking people over on their heads and powers through to score!

Rod & Leticia leave in 5th while Angie and Amber begin their soccer matches. Angie gets knocked over. "We had lost our lead. There's only one team behind us. / This is one of the worst days of my life." - Danny and Angie.

Amber falls over and scores! Angie ends up scoring as well leaving in 6th and 7th respectively.

Derek & Shelisa says athletic tasks will be where they will excel.

Yvonne & Mel and Sunny & Bizzy go into the task. Bizzy knows her cuts... in English. "Asado asado asado..." - Bizzy They want to split the memorization together with Yvonne & Melissa. Uhhh.... Anyways, Group 2ers also arrive. "The struggle is real. Looks so easy at the other place."

Derek & Shelisa rock-paper-scissors for the soccer task while Derek wins their battle. Derek immediately gets knocked over and scores very quickly.

With the remaining legs, the best Ricky and Cesar can do this season is match Rachel and Dave's record-- not beat it.  Seems like people were overreacting a little bit to the speculation?

Sunny & Bizzy and Yvonne & Melissa get checks and aren't correct. Group 2 work together again and take certain cuts of the beef to memorize less and divide and conquer.

"Two other teams are there." / "Oh, here we go."

Sunny & Bizzy feel they are going in dark. They have to go back. Yvonne & Melissa are also heading back with incorrect cuts.

"The second we see a team come back, let's go over there." - Danny. They realize there are now vacant spots and occupy those other two spots. Sunny & Bizzy and Yvonne & Mel realize they can't go to their spots now since there's a limited number as the Group 2ers have them taken.

We return to Sunny & Bizzy and Yvonne & Mel left out to dry like aged beef. Angie & Danny, Rod & Leticia, and Amber & Vinny are roundtable chatting about the cuts in the restaurant. Rod & Leticia are correct and open up space for Yvonne & Melissa. They catch a glimpse of them in the background as Angie & Danny finish. Angie shuts down the girlfriends as well as Danny. Sunny & Bizzy go in and Sunny is distressed they lost their lead.

Meanwhile, Derek & Shelisa are hoping the challenges next will be one and done.

Yvonne & Melissa gets it correct and help Sunny & Bizzy. This is 32 all over again. They move on from the DT.

Rod & Leticia can't figure out the way while Amber & Vinny and Angie & Danny are ducks in line. "I just don't want the girls to catch up." - Amber

Meanwhile, Yvonne & Melissa making progress on the road.

Foot race and... Rod & Leticia, Amber & Vinny, and Angie & Danny are teams number 3, 4, AND 5! Yvonne & Melissa run in as well as Sunny & Bizzy and they are teams number 6 and 7. Surprised none of them started just screaming at each other on the mat.

It's a skipped Detour for Derek & Shelisa and they are the last team to arrive. They have been eliminated unfortunately.

Shelisa admires Derek not getting frustrated and Derek says Shelisa is an inspiration. "This is how you start up a retirement." This is a memory they will never forget. "At least they didn't have to come get us."

I see we have a redux of the "Six-Pack" alliance from Season 10 - three weak teams who continuously helped and waited around for each other. One of those somehow made it to the final 3.

Shelisa's reaction to Derek's boleadora throws was the best thing about the first half of the episode

Super disappointed at Amber wanting to stay and help at the first RB. At a Roadblock, your own race partner isn't allowed to help you, yet someone from another team can come over to your workstation and give you the answer. Ugh. It takes the "Amazing" out of "Amazing Race" to see a racer be able to take that kind of escape hatch.
That said, as it stands, I do concede that helping other teams can be a strategic move in some circumstances. So there has to be something that can be done to remove the incentives teams might have to gift other teams with help to this extent.

Rod getting the sports RB on the first try was the most predictable thing ever.

Too bad we didn't see anyone doing the fingerprinting detour; forensics is quite an intriguing topic. It's possible Derek & Shelisa chose it given their occupations but they were too far behind to catch up via either Detour.

Shelisa's reaction to Derek's boleadora throws was the best thing about the first half of the episode

Super disappointed at Amber wanting to stay and help at the first RB. At a Roadblock, your own race partner isn't allowed to help you, yet someone from another team can come over to your workstation and give you the answer. Ugh. It takes the "Amazing" out of "Amazing Race" to see a racer be able to take that kind of escape hatch.
That said, as it stands, I do concede that helping other teams can be a strategic move in some circumstances. So there has to be something that can be done to remove the incentives teams might have to gift other teams with help to this extent.

Rod getting the sports RB on the first try was the most predictable thing ever.

Too bad we didn't see anyone doing the fingerprinting detour; forensics is quite an intriguing topic. It's possible Derek & Shelisa chose it given their occupations but they were too far behind to catch up via either Detour.

Starting to hate the annoying Mother & Son Team. Amber actually staying, helping and sobbing at the Rally RB is one of the worst I've seen across all seasons of TAR. Like this is Amazing Race not Amazing Friend. I hope this alliance crumbles very soon. I can't wait for it's demise. I want them to experience downfall a la Mine Five (Eswar & Aparna, DeAngelo & Gary). I hope the one from the alliance that makes F3 does not win.

Starting with Michelle & Sean, those that placed last the previous leg are eliminated the next leg. So we've seen Michelle & Sean, Kishori & Karishma, Derek & Shelisa. Currently, Sunny & Bizzy are last in Argentina, there's a possibility, they'll be last in Uruguay.

While the effect of group start and first-in-first-out tasks are visible, the last 3 eliminated teams were defeated because of their own devastating mistake.  That is not the same case as Jordan & Jeff in TAR 16 France.
