September 27th to December 13th is 12 weeks, which lines up with the 12 legs speculated in the race timeline.
The 3 hour Survivor finale will be on December 20th, which is consistent with the previous four survivor seasons all having 13 episodes.

EDIT: Oh didn't see the article on the previous page saying there are going to be 13 episodes. Maybe they do something like a Thursday episode one week after Big Brother ends (November 9th).
