Robbin and Chelsea

NumfarPTB:
These teams seem to be fun from their descriptions.
Show contentJust making it a bit sadder knowing the F3 composition.

I've said something to this extent before on this thread, but I am finding myself revisiting this topic. What I am about to say may or may not fall on deaf ears, but I need to say my piece. I want to be completely aboveboard and emphasize that I am directing this at absolutely no one, and am just screaming into the void.

When the season began filming I was excited as everyone else! Back to full commercial travel, a first leg in Southeast Asia (the first time if I remember correctly?), a revisit to Rajasthan, first time to Slovenia, and revisits to long-awaited Stockholm and Ireland! Even the finale in Seattle is something I've been excited to see for years!

Then the final 3 actually happened and this all came crashing down.

This is a historic final three, absolutely, but historic in the worst way possible. My jaw was on the floor when I saw the elimination in Dublin.

Never before on the US season have we had an all-male MM. I find this utterly embarrassing, disgusting and offensive. We are at the zenith of the show's pattern of preferential treatment towards male teams and men in general. Is it any coincidence we have had 11 MM winners and only 3 FF winners? Is it any coincidence that out of 36 filmed seasons, more men have been cast in 21 of them, as opposed to only 6 seasons that had more women cast than men? Is it any coincidence that among all individual people that have crossed the finish line to win the Amazing Race, 62.5% are men?

I find this to be a microcosm of the sexist and misogynist entertainment industry in general, and this gut-wrenching prejudice has infected the show that has quite literally changed my life.

Since the season finished filming, I have reached out to as many people involved with the filming as humanly possible - I emailed Bertam van Munster, I emailed Elise Doganieri as well as messaged her on Facebook. I messaged members of the casting department on Instagram, and even reached out to Phil himself. I expressed my intense disappointment, to put it politely, and my desire for drastic change. I want to give credit to a certain member of the forum for their help in editing these messages. I could not have done this without you my friend!

This drastic change in question needs to happen next season, full stop. We need 6 or 7 strong, female teams. Even better, let's have no MM teams at all. If TAR26 lacked FF teams, why can't TAR37 lack MM teams? In the meantime, I will be boycotting the show. I'm ashamed I didn't realize the misogyny before through my thick rose-colored glasses, but now that I see it I will be acting on what I know is right to me.

Thanks for letting me vent. Cheers to a better future.

Maanca:
At least it's not 3 of your standard alpha teams. It includes a deaf parent, and a Black M/M team has very rarely made the final 3. But you're not wrong.
