From what I understood, it wasn’t that Jackson has been on Lithium (that was disclosed), but that he decided to wean himself off of it before filming began and didn’t disclosed that. Apparently there can be side effects from the process, and that is what medically disqualified him.

Episode itself put me literally to sleep. Not a good sign.
