So beside season 5, every first face-off was KOR or NEL

No way of knowing how much truth there is to this, but on this week's RHAP recap of Leg 7, Jess mentioned she saw somewhere on Reddit that, yes, there was intended to be international. Unknown where, but supposedly the substitute legs were Revelstoke and Kitchener-Waterloo.

Revelstoke kinda had that vibe, yes.
