TAR 32: Bitch, Moan, Squeal Here! (Filming and pre show Spoilers)

--- Quote from: dryedmangoez on December 03, 2020, 07:51:00 PM ---One thing about the boot order, we don't know how horribly the Mine Five would do without feeding each other answers. Like, how far behind would a team get if Hung wasn't standing there waiting to force answers and solutions down the other teams' throats? (As just one example.)

And they aren't violating rules, but they're definitely looking for shortcuts. And that is almost as bad. What's the point of the show putting together tasks when teams aren't actually going to perform and complete them? Part of that is the show's fault and poor design, part of that is the teams' decisions. But this is a Race. And they are harming the integrity of the Race by trying to find shortcuts.

The Mine Five's attitudes about it are also a turn off. The ganging up, the bullying, the cocky attitudes. Put these teams against some of TAR's even middling teams from the past? They'd get eaten alive. And it won't take an alliance of five to do it.

There's also the argument that's popped up over the years, including from certain teams themselves. That teams are Racing to win, they're not here for our entertainment. That is a flawed defense. The Amazing Race is an entertainment TV show. And while no one wants teams to play up to the camera or be fake (like many teams have in the recent past and increasingly so in the current social media-influencer era), teams go into the show knowing what it is about. (Though that's debatable with increasing recruits too.)

Teams can certainly do whatever they want to win, but the show's fans/viewers aren't obligated to like it or appreciate it. Or even respect it. Viewers certainly have the option to not watch. And as the data has proven the last couple of years, many have indeed made that decision to say Bye bye to The Amazing Race.

Very well said!

For me, this season still isn't the worst. S.24 will always be the worst for me.
S.32 is on the lower end of my rankings for the entire US version. It slots slightly above S.27.
Setting the stupid alliance aside, the route, the majority of the tasks were well thought of. Thank you production & leg designers!
It would have been on the higher end of the rankings if it weren't for the you know what...

Just a thought. I can't help but think if the Mine Five were placed in S.27 because the tasks in that season were just below average or just bad.  I'll swap out Tanner & Josh, Tiffany & Krista, Denise & James Earl, Ernest & Jin, Logan & Chris and place them in S.32
I just can imagine them forming an alliance and helping out excessively in a season where I deem the tasks are "easy"

   :funny:

I feel ya oval! It's sad to think about. But I think there's definitely a whole separate thread's worth of discussion about that feeling. And how perhaps TAR isn't as amazing as it once was. (I actually think there already is a thread like that somewhere around here hehe)

I'm definitely thankful for other TARs around the world that have tried new things, tweaked the format. But still essentially keep it TAR. And best of all, they cast good teams who bring the drama and hilarity, but still actually compete.

Don't forget the apologists for the Mine Five. I've seen a lot on social media.  :groan:  B:)

Some of my friends, whom are avid fans of the show and who are also Gay/LGBT are displeased with how Will & James are portraying the LGBT community.

There are Mine Five apologists?!?!?!  :groan:

Actually, that's true. I've seen them. Like comments about wanting TAR to become more like Survivor and Big Brother. Like, they WANT more alliances and backstabbing and that kind of clique-y behavior on TAR. *cringe* lol

dryedmangoez, I got tired seeing the comments from the Mine Five apologists on social media. It was like a bunch of trolls.

RachelLeVega:
The next leg's structure sounds like a shortsighted disaster on air like TAR30's team swap. The "city sprint" sounds like they're just going to be traveling on foot to locations around Metro Manila in a set order like a marathon. In my specs from pure live sightings, I thought Phil was going to hand out a list of tasks they needed to complete in whatever order, like orienteering, where navigation and travel can diversify.

Not to mention the memory task being done on the penultimate leg instead of Show contentNOLA... :groan: nothing remotely about the Philippines for this one.

There's no guarantee that there won't also be a memory task in Leg 11
Show contentMardi Gras World may present the opportunity for a float-themed memory task
