Might not pan out, but I had a thought as far as the international destinations. With this being the "heroes" season, they might want to take the racers somewhere that feels rewarding, like a paradise location.
Which the Maldives or South Pacific would fit nicely.

Why Colombo as a choice? Spoiler evidence for that?

Three seasons since South Asia. Unsure why there needs to be proof as such when the continent is the only one outside North America that always gets a visit.
