"JODY" Discussion

<< < (28/37) > >>

TSPKM:
Per Jody fans here and on Twitter

Jody won every leg of the race. They received an express pass, they won all the rewards, they were ahead of the pack the entire season and never were behind any team. They arrived at every location way ahead of all teams, they were superior in the finale and won the entire race miles ahead of the “nerds” and skiers. Yay Jody.

LibertyLove08:
I watched the feeds & the bad behavior did not come from Jess or Cody. Seriously they were bullied. Especially Cody for going after a vet like Paul—a good move. Also Cody was real & had integrity in the house, he protected Jess & didn’t allow other guest to disrespect her. Then he just kept them from confrontation of Paul & the other sheep. It was miserable to watch the things the other guest said to Cody about his military service & attacks upon him for NOT being what they wanted him to be. He was himself. Others that go into that house & pretend it’s ok to lie, cheat & be evil or some character because it’s a game, are only fooling themselves. It demonstrates a part of your character & it’s not commendable. For anyone who didn’t fall in love with Jody or understand them, it because you never saw the feeds or what was really going on. Seriously—Just saying.

Only that is not at all true.

I've followed them on twitter because they had more spoilers than anyone for most of this season.  They reported several times about Jody being in second to last place, or behind other racers.  I'm not talking about the tween Jody fans who didn't bother to learn anything about TAR, and we just shippers.  The semi-official Jody-TAR "fan account" and shinshin tweeter weren't saying the won every leg, as a matter of fact, other than the first leg I don't remember seeing that at all.  The posters that actually learned about TAR during all of this?  Were pretty accurate, and actually tried to be real, in between the squealing fan stuff.

I agree, the major Twitter accounts did a tremendous job trying to report on Jody's progress throughout the race. HOWEVER, there are shippers and then there are shipper-trolls or queen-shippers and I've seen some pretty disturbing accounts that go WAY beyond the "Jody are the best ever!" stage. One person said they can't wait to cyber-bully the other teams. This is not Jody's fault - that kind of behaviour is endemic in all fandoms, and seems to be a risk that comes with celebrity. To tell you the truth, I am almost afraid to live-tweet the episodes as they air, in fear of attracting one of these types as I've been doxxed before.

Seastars:
I agree, but that type is easy to spot.  The semi-official (not approved by Jess or Cody as far as I know) tweeter that I did follow?  Wasn't like that at all, she/he was learning on the job, obviously a "super fan" but really did try to be accurate, and to learn about TAR, asking good questions, etc.  Several were, some weren't.  She/he got better at they went along, which seems pretty normal.

That said, I'd bet they had someone in production feeding them information up until the final four at least, they knew locations and eliminations much too fast, after that did some good footwork locating locals to help.
