If it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, you want it to last as long as possible. At that point they knew they were in last and took a calculated risk to get their journey to last longer.

They technically weren't last because they'd have to go up the mountain with 2 other teams and at that point afaik Anne & Tanya hadn't even attempted it. It ultimately didn't pay off and if it had I wouldn't be rooting for them because they quit so easily. It's also why Kelly & Kate fell way down my team list.

I mean it was smart IMO, considering the time it took to go up and down. The weather (something they had no control over) is what did them in.

I think it was the decision that did it and not the weather tbh. From my point of view, based on how easily Stephane did it the second time with the harness and how much he flopped on round 1, I think it would have been almost impossible to fail the second time because the harness supported them.
