They could be getting on a bus there - the Irving station in downtown Sydney serves as a bus station.
EDIT: The schedule I checked doesn't seem to fit.

My buddies are following the bus now. Heading towards North Sydney apparently, maybe NL Ferry?

All the buses go towards North Sydney with that company and if it is a regular bus, would pick up passengers there (not sure where it stops, possibly the ferry terminal).

Kept going towards Halifax on the 105, Trans-Canada Highway. Unsure if it was crew or contestants.
