Seasons 20 and 21 DVDs AND Blu-Ray available for pre-order!

TVShowsOnDVD.com is reporting today that Amazon is planning a Create Space Manufacture on Demand release for Season 21 in BluRay (HD) format. It is now available for pre-order, but like the DVDs for seasons 20 and 21, no release date is yet available.

Back in mid-April we reported that MOD (manufacture on demand) releases were in-the-works for DVD sets of the 20th and 21st seasons of The Amazing Race. CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment haven't provided a release date yet for these two items; they are simply known to be in the preparation stage for a DVD release, hopefully later this year.

Now Amazon and their CreateSpace MOD program have added a new pre-order listing, also for 2012's The Amazing Race - The 21st Season...but on high-def Blu-ray Disc! There's no similar listing we can locate for the 20th season on Blu, nor for BDs of any other season from the award-winning reality show. It looks like the season which introduced the "Double Your Money" prize will be the first Blu-ray version!

Amazon's listing (see button link below, followed by package art) doesn't have a release date for the Blu version of The Amazing Race - The 21st Season, either. At this time it simply says, "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Cost is $44.95 SRP, for a 3-disc set. Here's the studio description:

    The stakes are raised in the 21st season of Emmy-award winning THE AMAZING RACE as 11 teams cruise around the globe competing for a chance to win potentially the largest prize ever: $2 million. Among those racing across three continents and nine countries, logging in approximately 25,000 miles, are "Twinnies" (and future "Survivor" castaways), a duo from Chippendales, married Monster Truckers, a rock star, and a 2014 Paralympic bronze medalist and "dancing" star, Amy Purdy.

    The race kicks off with a 10-story rappel in Los Angeles, and as the Race continues, the teams find themselves frying an egg on their heads in Indonesia, working as 'rat collectors' in Bangladesh and revisiting one of the Race's most infamous Roadblocks in the Netherlands in this season's Switchback. THE AMAZING RACE season 21 also crosses through China, Turkey, Russia, Spain and France.

    The season also features the series' first-ever Blind Double U-Turn, where two teams could U-Turn another team, and whichever team used the U-Turn could remain anonymous, plus the "Double Your Money" prize, upping the ante for the team who won the first leg. A week later, and TVShowsOnDVD is now reporting that Amazin MOD is planning Blu Ray versions of seasons 18, 19 and 20. (These were the first three seasons filmed in HD.)

Pre-orders are now being taken at Amazon, but no release date has been announced.
