Excerpt:

Quote
As for the upcoming season, he (Phil Keoghan) teases, "I would describe Season
27 as a real 'character' season, meaning the cast is really a little different
than anything we've ever had. We've got some great match-ups with people where I
think we're gonna see some fun banter between the teams. This could be an
interesting mix, I think."

:funny:  TMZ did a story about "Team TMZ" (Shevonne & Kelly) on tonight's show.  Talked about how Team Dwarfs beat them at the starting line sprint, and how Kelly is afraid of dwarfs.   :ascared

Big surprise was that they announced on-air that if Shevonne & Kelly were eliminated in the first leg...

Wait a second... would TMZ be breaking the non-disclosure agreement at this point? I mean they announced an elimination live on air... ???

I thought you weren't allowed to spoil eliminations or wins like that until the race aired on TV...

Or does this only apply to the racers themselves?
You are the last team to arrive.
This is a Philmination leg, so I'm sorry to tell you that you have been Philiminated from the race.

TMZ’ Duo to Compete on Next Season of ‘Amazing Race’  :grins:

"In its second season in the Friday night timeslot, the show is going back to its roots.
“Having gone so extreme last season (with “blind daters” instead of established relationships, fans) wanted us to get back to basics this season,” Keoghan teased for this season. “We listened to them. That’s what we’re doing.”"

Yay.  :)

This was pretty much the only thread without a spoiler warning, and yet the results of the first leg are still here.  Can't there be a thread for just locations without results? I was really trying to avoid spoiling the outcome this season.  I know I probably should just avoid the whole board, but I love seeing the route.

Well, I feel you. I've had the same approach for several seasons - only trying to look for location spoilers, as that was the most interesting to me and didn't ruin the excitement of the show. But for TAR24 (since it had returnees omgggg, but, yeah, was very crappy) and this season (idk why tbh) I also don't care for other types of spoilers.

What I have learned, that this is a SPOILER board, and the threads are only arranged in a way to avoid cluster and help sort spoilers - that eases the work people do here.
If you are still very eager to know the locations in advance (like I was, hehe), I advise you to keep checking ONLY the timeline summary thread and scroll down pretty quickly to only notice the countries, without seeing "teams in danger" or "eliminated", which pretty much spoils the fun.

And also, seeing a spoiler in the media (i.e. this thread) is very unusual - at least I haven't seen a spoiler here for when a team was eliminated ever before. I still don't understand if TMZ weren't prohibited to do that....

We can certainly TRY to have a Location thread again. What we found in previous seasons was that it was a duplication of other threads and no one could be sure compete info was in two places. But we will gladly reopen it and see how it goes.

As far as spoilers in this thread.... There should be no spoiler discussion here from other threads.

BUT... once something is in the MEDIA it is no longer considered a spoiler. So if TMZ reveals the results of the first elimination...then that is now public info.

Honestly, based on that video, I thought they didn't spoil their result on the race.. They only said "Even IF Chevonne and Kelly get eliminated," they didn't like reveal that they were eliminated..

I think they simply said that they'd still have one comfortable month of sequester in the scenario where they're eliminated first..

Not sure if I'm wrong..

:ascared  Wow, back to the future... well, back to TAR25, at least.  Today's NPR radio program Science Friday did a segment with Maya Warren, one half of the winning team of TAR25.

They subject was:
"Are some ice creams “meltier” than others? This is a question that Maya Warren, an ice cream expert and Ph.D. candidate in food science, explores at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Despite the simple sweetness of a scoop of ice cream, this frozen dairy product has a complicated microstructure. And this complex combination of air cells, ice crystals, and fat globules—to name a few constituents—affects the way in which different kinds of ice cream melt and collapse."

Oh yeah, and they briefly talked about TAR25 too.   :funny:

Here's a link to the NPR segment (which has a audio clip of the segment).

Caution: the audio link was previously broken, however, it may be working now.

If it's a full enough leg, sure. The 26 premiere didn't need 90 minutes for a starting line task, a Detour, and then finding the Pit Stop

The best producers — or the worst, depending on your point of view — discuss the inner workings of reality TV on “Close Up with the Hollywood Reporter” (Sunday at 11 a.m. on Sundance TV). “Survivor’s” Mark Burnett, “So You Think You Can Dance’s” Nygel Lythgoe and Cat Deeley and “Amazing Race’s” Bertram Van Munster are among those sharing war stories. Julie Chen clears up that rumor about a “Big Brother” orgy, and I think I just went blind.

I remember seeing something very like this about 6 months ago. At the time, I think it was on the Hollywood Reporter website. Bertram Van Munster had some good anecdotes. I guess it was filmed back them and is finally getting aired. From what I saw and remember, it was interesting. I'm going to go set it up to record now.

As for the Big Brother orgy (shudder), I've heard that some of the foreign versions of Big Brother have cast porn actors in the hope that they would do what porn actors do. And they did.

The Amazing Race Host Phil Keoghan Previews The Season 27 Premiere
September 25, 2015 – 11:49 AM –
By Josh Wigler

After twenty-six seasons racing around the world, Phil Keoghan is bringing everyone back to where it all started for Season 27.

In the new edition of The Amazing Race, premiering on September 25, eleven new teams of racers will find themselves following in the footsteps of the original competition, revisiting iconic locations from the very first season.

But that won’t be the case for everyone. The race hits the ground running right in front of a live audience in Venice Beach, with each team heading straight from California to Brazil, where one pair will be eliminated, not quite 24 hours after they started. And Jack Bauer thought he had bad days.

I spoke with Phil Keoghan about what we can expect from the coming race, the season one call backs, his thoughts on Amazing Race 26’s dating twist now that it’s over, what we’ll see in the premiere episode, and his thoughts on a few of the new season’s teams.

What should The Amazing Race fans look forward to this season?

The same thing that keeps people coming back, season after season: Great teams and great new destinations. That seems to be a winning formula! It’s always fresh. You never see the same things on The Amazing Race. However, we are visiting some of our iconic locations from season one — you’ll see those appear as stars throughout this season. They’re peppered throughout the season. I know some of the original Amazing Race fans will get a kick out of that.

We’re going back to Victoria Falls, for instance, we’re going back to the Taj Mahal, and we’re going back to the Arc de Triomphe. Those are three pretty iconic spots, and they were all in season one.

How did the idea to revisit season one locations come about?

We just started thinking, “Why don’t we go back to this country? Why don’t we do this, why don’t we do that?” Some places are just so iconic and such wonders of the world, some of the most famous buildings in the world, something that’s so special that it’s okay after 15 years to go back and take another look.

What was the experience like for you, revisiting these locations after all these seasons away?

I have actually been back to some of those locations since season one with my other adventures and with other travels. For some reason, I seem to keep ending up at the Arc de Triomphe. I shot a rollerblading piece at the Arc de Triomphe in, gosh, must have been 2004. I’ve been back there for the Tour de France three or four times. I shot a documentary retracing the 1928 Tour de France and I shot around the Arc de Triomphe. So that particular structure, I almost feel like I live there. [Laughs] It was great to go back and remember it from an Amazing Race perspective.

The new season follows on the heels of Amazing Race 26, which featured dating couples versus blind dating couples. How do you feel about how that season turned out?

It was great. Fans loved it. It was nice to do something different. We weren’t successful necessarily in matching up love! But we were successful in creating great teams and TV.

Were you surprised by how well the blind dating couples performed?

I was very surprised. None of us saw that happening. In fact, there were some fans who went so far as to say, “How can you do that to the teams? They’re at a disadvantage!” So it definitely surprised us and it surprised the fans. Who would have guessed the last three teams would all be blind date teams? It was crazy. It was a fun thing to do and a fun thing to try.
Tell us how the new season begins.

What I loved about what we did this season, and I would like to do it every season, is we had a live start at Venice Beach, where we invited fans to come out. That was a real highlight for me this season, just to have the energy of our fans and former Amazing Racers there at the starting line. So many starts we’ve done where we’re secluded and in the middle of nowhere. No one knows what we’re doing, no one is around us — there’s no audience. It’s kind of like doing a stage show where there’s no audience feedback. In this particular situation, they’re on a stage, but not just a stage. There’s a huge crowd reacting to who they are and what they’re saying. There’s a lot of yelling out and connecting. It works out not just for hyping up the teams but hyping up all of us as well. We got a real kick out of it.

It’s amazing how much stuff is in this first episode. First of all, from the start, you’ll see some former Amazing Racers lined up, including the very first winners of The Amazing Race. Rob and Brennan are standing right there. It’s so cool. I still have a connection with them, going back to season one. To have them come out and support the show and still be such big fans of the show speaks to the experience that everybody has on the show. A lot of the ex-Racers still want to be connected with the greater Amazing Race family. I think it speaks to what the show is about. All of these fans were at the starting line, sending live video from their phones to friends around the world. There’s this amazing live energy at the start of the show. In my opinion, it’s the best energy we’ve ever had.

Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan Breaks Down Team Texas and Justin's "Super Intense" Rivalry

by Joyce Eng | Oct 15, 2015 3:08 PM EDT

There are eight teams left on The Amazing Race 27, but so far this season has mostly been about two: the Green Team of Justin and Diana vs. Team Texas' Tanner and Josh. "It's super intense between them, isn't it?" Phil Keoghan tells TVGuide.com. "They just do not get along. It's a lot of brash personalities. Justin lives and breathes the Race and is a bit of a know-it-all about it. Everyone sees [the Green Team] as a threat. There are a lot of teams who would like to see them go away besides Texas."

But it is Tanner and Josh who are leading the charge to boot them. At the end of last week's episode, with the Double U-Turn in play this week in Zambia, the boys had an alluring offer that teams might not be able to refuse: Should anyone get to the Double U-Turn before Team Texas, they will give their Express Pass to the team who U-Turns Justin and Diana.

Will their best laid plan go awry? Keoghan gives us the scoop on the big showdown, who he had pegged to win, next season and more.!

Justin is rubbing everyone the wrong way. What do you think of him and his racing style?
Phil Keoghan: He wants to let people know that he knows a lot about the Race. It might be to intimidate them, which I think is actually working because everybody has identified him and Diana as a dominant force. Let's not leave out Diana in this. She's just as strong, but he's obviously the one people have issue with. He's decided to let everyone know they're a dominant force and I think it's psyching a lot of teams out. Everybody's like, "Oh my God! They know so much." People are nervous with them around because they are walking encyclopedias of The Amazing Race. We've had superfans on the show before, but these guys are a whole other level. I would not think that's an exaggeration [that he has seen every season three times].

He's clearly excited about the Race, but he is so laser-focused on it that he can't see the forest for the trees. He's so easily frustrated when things don't go his way.
Keoghan: Right. He gets to a point where he's so super excited and so emotional. His face says it all. He broke down crying the first leg. The idea that they could've been out the first leg -- I don't know if he could've lived with himself. I can't say this to Diana, but this is definitely the biggest thing in his life and he has a fight in him that is threatening the other racers. ... We're set up for a really fantastic fourth leg because Team Texas has everyone on board to get them out. ... I think it's a smart move for Texas to target them. They have the power of the Express Pass, which is to be used to get ahead. If ever there is a time to get ahead and get rid of a threat, this is the time to use it. They have to use it by the end of the fifth leg, so all the planets are aligned right now to execute something to push out their biggest threat.

It's rare that the whole cast plots so vocally to get one team out and have a game plan. Do you think it's consequence of getting the Express Pass from Texas or just Justin's personality?
Keoghan: My personal feeling is that it has a lot to do with him. I think if this were a weaker team, nobody would be having this conversation. The only reason everyone is targeting them is strictly their presence. They're the most impactful team that is on the Race right now. I think fans are either loving Justin's enthusiasm or they are annoyed by him. They either love to hate him or they love him.

Obviously you can't spoil it, but how successful are they? It's one thing to have a game plan, but it's hard to execute it on the Race.
Keoghan: What I love about the Race is that even if you want someone gone, it's not that simple. You can't just gang up and vote them out. There are always elements that neutralize teams. There's the flight factor. There's getting through the challenges. There's adapting to the new city or country. You can never just look at the way it is in the beginning of the leg and make an accurate prediction. Team Texas is taking a really big risk, being so bold as to announce to everyone what they're doing. If they're not successful, they have to deal with continuing the Race with them.

How will Justin and Diana try to save themselves?
Keoghan: The Green Team is smart enough to know everyone wants them out. What's really interesting is whether the other teams are going to stick their necks out like Team Texas is. If they're not, that could backfire. It was kind of fun at the mat and telling them there's a Double U-Turn ahead. Again, all the planets have aligned for a major showdown in Africa. We have all the ingredients for a dramatic leg in Africa and it is really dramatic. Team Texas also has that pressure of having to use the Express Pass and not knowing what's ahead, which is the best task to skip.

Tanner pulled his hamstring in Leg 2. Is that going to foil them?
Keoghan: That's a big issue. A lot of fans have been comparing it to Dave [injuring his Achilles in Season 22]. We jam them into these planes on these long flights and that's like the worst thing to do to your legs. I don't know if people realize the toll the travel aspect takes. It's definitely taking out one of their biggest strengths, speed. They're just not as fast as they were. They don't have that advantage over the other teams now. But you know they're not going to give up with Justin and Diana there. ... I can say that as long as they're on [the show] together, they're gonna be rivals. So I guess cross your fingers both those teams stay in for a long time.

Almost all the other teams have taken a backseat to these two. Which other teams do you like?
Keoghan: I like the mixture, like Denise and James Earl. I did penalize her for cheating. ... It's incredibly difficult for team members to stand back and watch during Roadblocks. You're gonna see in an upcoming episode someone get really frustrated with their teammate because they're just struggling like crazy. Their teammate is just beside themselves watching them fail over and over again. It's really hard. There's a tremendous amount of guilt for people when they feel like they're letting down a teammate. We've seen it before. That's one of the great things about splitting them up during Roadblocks. You can't just rely on one strong team member. Who do you like?

The reporters are pretty competent and are flying under the radar.
Keoghan: The newsreaders have been very composed, but if they do stay in it, they might not look like they're sitting at a news desk anymore. When you do 12 shows in 21 days, it breaks some people. I also think it's comforting for all of us watching to see really smart teams make mistakes. I do like the doctors and the dynamic between them. They are both so bright. I think they are used to having control over things in their life, going to med school and dental school. This is forcing them out of their comfort zone where they're failing.

How bad were your predictions this time?
Keoghan: Always wrong. I was very sad about the dancers. I think of all the teams, from a personal level, that was the team I wanted to see win. I wanted to be part of the story where these dancers come in, one of whom is living in his car, and they have this once-in-a-lifetime experience around the world and walks away with enough money to change his life. I was surprised they were eliminated as early as they were. It felt like they would've gotten stronger as they went on. They were like Dave and Mary, completely out of their element. This was something so fresh and so new for them. Talking to fans online, they really love them and miss them.

They were a fun contrast to the fighting between Texas and Green.
Keoghan: Yeah, they were the team everyone fell for because of their demeanor, their relationship and the way they went out, dancing and trying to look at the bright side of life. I had them in my final three. ... I'm always surprised by the final three. I look back at Mike and Rochelle. No one expected them. I picked Mike and Scott to win [Season 25]. I really saw them going a lot further. And the border patrol guys, Art and JJ.

They got second.
Keoghan: Yeah. At the beginning, you think a certain thing about a team and then they surprise you. You see their vulnerability or them weak against a team. Maybe that's one of my closest predictions: second place!

I loved seeing you on Big Brother this summer and bringing in Jeff and Jackie. Did you watch or keep up to see how they did?
Keoghan: I would love to tell you that I sat there glued to the TV. I'm so bad with TV. I apologize. I got updates and apparently people liked them and thought they added to the show, so that was good. Would you agree with that?

Yeah. Jeff went out early, but people liked Jackie a lot. She was a surprise eviction in the first double eviction and people were very angry about that. I think she could've done well had she stayed or come back into the game.
Keoghan: I like her. She's fiery. I always felt like she had more potential on the Race too. They got unlucky in Monaco with directions.

I just liked that racers finally invaded Big Brother since five houseguests have been on the Race and Brenchel did it twice. Will there be another crossover soon?
Keoghan: We might have something interesting lined up for next season. Season 28 might surprise you. Having talked to you as much as I have, I think you'll like it.

Phil Keoghan about this season and the success of TAR Canada
--------------
Phil Keoghan pleased with ‘Amazing Race Canada’s’ success
Sheri Block
OCTOBER 30, 2015

Canadians aren’t the only ones who are thrilled “The Amazing Race Canada” has become such a hit.

“Amazing Race” host Phil Keoghan, who has been at the helm of the U.S. juggernaut for 27 seasons, is also quite happy about the success of the show, which wrapped its third season in September.

“I’m so pleased that it’s worked in Canada and fans are happy because after making ‘Amazing Race’ in America successful you don’t want to have a blemish in the franchise and so we’ve had not just success but great success,” says Keoghan over the phone from the UK.

“I think the Canadian (version) from what I’ve seen … it does definitely have a Canadian feel to it, which is great. Maybe it’s closer to what the Canadians want and some of the things they don’t like about the American show they’ll like more in the Canadian show. Ultimately I think people like to watch themselves, their own people, people that they can connect with

There are some great interesting bits in that article!!  Thanks for sharing it.

Adding in the rest....

So what makes our teams so distinctly Canadian?

“You hear ‘sorry’ from a Canadian a lot more than you do from an American I think,” says Keoghan with a laugh.

“It’s awesome that it’s worked and that Canadian fans are happy and don’t feel that somehow it’s not a match. It’s something that they’re really proud of and that they love.”

Apply now to be on 'The Amazing Race Canada!'

The Emmy Award-nominated Keoghan, who is also a producer on “The Amazing Race,” says the success of the show – no matter which country is producing it – depends on three key elements: the teams, what they’re doing and where they’re doing it (in that order).

“A huge amount of credit has to go to our casting team over the years because that is the No. 1 most important factor in making any series a success: are the teams interesting? And then (when) we put them into an interesting situation is their reaction to that stimulus interesting to watch? The third layer is where are they and what are we seeing behind them?”

Keoghan says a really captivating team being lost in a taxi can surpass anything else in the show.

“It’s about the teams. The focus is how do we get them to react to an amazing race? It’s imperative we get that right. We get that wrong then we lose out on having a great show.”

It doesn’t mean “The Amazing Race” hasn’t tried new elements over the years though, including a family edition and bringing former contestants back for all-stars and unfinished business. They also tried a blind date concept in Season 26, with half the teams being existing couples and the other half meeting for the first time on the mat.

Even though there were no love connections, Keoghan says there’s a possibility they’d do it again or something else like it.

“I loved it just to try something different. It surprised me, it surprised the fans. Who would’ve guessed that three out of the four teams in the final leg would be teams who had never met each other before? That certainly dispelled a lot of my beliefs about what teams do well and a lot of fans, too.”

The current season of “Race” has returned to the show’s typical format (teams with existing relationships) but they are revisiting some familiar spots, including the Batoka Gorge in Zambia, the very first challenge ever on “Amazing Race” when Season 1 aired in 2001.

“I love going back and this season we’ve done it quite a bit, visiting some of the iconic spots, the switchbacks are always to me a lot of fun. We have such history to draw on and it’s great to have that history.”

In the next episode, airing tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, teams will visit another familiar site – the Arc de Triomphe in Paris – the Pit Stop for the second leg in Season 1.

“Next to the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids it’s right up there. It’s absolutely iconic on the Champs-Elysees, it’s absolutely stunning and beautiful and then they have some really interesting challenges – a rapping challenge, they get in some biplanes. It’s awesome.”

They will also be travelling to Poland and India later in the season, something Keoghan is particularly excited about.

Those episodes through India are my favourite this season, just because of taking ordinary people or so called ordinary people and putting them in an extraordinary situation with vivid colours and culture and where they are a complete fish out of water … It’s a great finish. Lots of drama.”

Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan praises Canadian version of hit show

Phil Keoghan has deep-rooted Canadian connections, but that's not why he loves our version of The Amazing Race

We Canadians are a polite and reserved people most of the time. But when it comes to The Amazing Race, we were not going to sit quietly until we got what we damn well wanted: a version of the show that highlighted Canuck courage and competitiveness.

And nobody is happier about the success of The Amazing Race Canada than Phil Keoghan, the longtime host of the U.S. version of the globe-trotting, Emmy-winning reality show.

Canada’s pent-up demand to take part in The Amazing Race “was more than any other country in the world, I’ve got to say,” said Keoghan, on the phone from the U.K. where he was watching his New Zealand All Blacks defeat Australia in last weekend’s Rugby World Cup final.

“Any country likes to watch its own compete,” said Keoghan. “There’s a certain amount of patriotism, and there’s that rivalry between Canadians and Americans, and I think Canadians initially felt like they were left out.”

With Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jon Montgomery as host, The Amazing Race Canada kicked off in 2013 with a debut season that never left Canada’s borders. Some cynics snarked that it made the show a lesser version of its American cousin, but Keoghan disagrees.

“I think it was a really smart move to focus in on Canada, because I think it rallied the fans around the franchise, and I think it made Canadians – who are such a proud people, and such a great country – think, ‘Wow, we really do live in an amazing place,’ ” he said.

The two subsequent seasons have ventured outside of Canada – to China and France in Season 2, and Chile, Argentina and India in Season 3 – and there’s no reason to think next year’s Season 4 will be any different. (If you and a partner think you’ve got what it takes to win the next season of The Amazing Race Canada, head to theamazingracecanada.ctv.ca/casting to apply.)

“And then when they did go out (of Canada), it got everyone excited because it’s like, ‘Oh, OK, now we get to see the Canadian version go out into the world,’ ” said Keoghan. “It was a good move.”

Before The Amazing Race, Keoghan was a well-known TV personality in his native New Zealand, and he’s travelled the world crossing items off a very impressive bucket list, including making one of the world’s tallest bungee jumps and eating dinner at the edge of an erupting volcano.

But he comes by his love of Canada – and of rugby – very honestly, eh, having spent four years living in Ontario as a kid.

“My dad coached the University of Guelph rugby team,” said Keoghan. “There was a big match back in 1971 between Guelph and Queen’s (University), and my dad was the coach and they were a bit short on players. So my dad jumped into the game and they ended up winning it.”

Currently in its 27th season, the U.S. version of The Amazing Race heads from France to the Netherlands in Friday’s episode, where two-wheeled transportation is likely to factor into a challenge.

“We’re going to Rotterdam, an absolutely spectacular city,” said Keoghan. “It’s a country that is very advanced, they love technology, they love bicycles of course – any excuse to get a bicycle in the show is good with me, so you might see some pedalling – but it’s also one of the busiest harbours in the world.”

And while the Green Team – Philadelphia radio personality Justin Scheman and his fiance,

schoolteacher Diana Bishop – have dominated the race with strategy and cunning, previous seasons have shown there’s no such thing as an unbeatable team in The Amazing Race.

“At the end of the day there are still cancelled flights, there’s still a taxi driver that takes them to the wrong side of town, there’s still the possibility they pull a leg muscle or they ostracize themselves from the other teams and the other teams want to gang up on them and eliminate them,” said Keoghan.

“The people who win are not always the fittest, they’re not always the smartest, they’re not always the strongest.”

Sometimes, they’re not even the politest. Eh.

The Amazing Race airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. on CBS and CTV.

Why Justin and Diana are Making 'The Amazing Race' Season 27 Painful to Watch

The Green Team is unstoppable on The Amazing Race season 27. If there has ever been a team more dominant than Justin and Diana on The Amazing Race, I can't remember them. It's gotten to the point where I think even host Phil Keogan is getting a little bored of seeing Justin and Diana in first almost every leg. Is there anything The Amazing Race can do about Justin and Diana? More importantly, should they?

The Problem with Justin and Diana Winning

The issue with Justin and Diana's dominance goes beyond Justin's obnoxiousness. It doesn't help. Justin certainly makes the Green Team's supremacy harder to swallow. If Justin was more likable it would be less egregious but the problem with one team winning is the same regardless the personality of the team. The Tortoise and the Hare isn't a good story because the Hare is trouncing the Tortoise for the majority of the race. I mean, the Tortoise and the Hare is a stupid story regardless but one of the points of the fable is that it isn't fun to watch someone being beat so soundly in a race.

There is no tension. There is no interest about who will be in first because by the time the leg starts Justin and Diana have already finished it. This is an obvious exaggeration but it's still boring to watch an episode of The Amazing Race when Justin and Diana are so far ahead. There is never a sense of Justin and Diana fighting to stay in the race, there's rarely a chance of them fighting for first place.

It's even hard to invest in the rivalry of Justin and Diana versus the other teams because we almost never see the teams interact. The Green Team is so far ahead of everyone else that the other team's desire to beat them is some abstract idea. There was some crossover in the first couple of legs. Now it's hard to remember the last time Justin and Diana were on screen with anyone but themselves and Phil.

Can The Amazing Race Stop it?

The Amazing Race probably has a lot more planning than most reality shows. The amount of travel in a season sort of necessitates it. I think it would be wrong to assume that The Amazing Race is on autopilot for the entire season. If they want to step in, put in an extra hard challenge or a U-Turn, they can do that. I'm sure that the contract that the teams sign protects them from The Amazing Race producers targeting them so they can't make a better show. The Amazing Race can't actively try to get Justin and Diana out but maybe they should level the playing field.

Maybe there should be more of those catch up points The Amazing Race puts every so often on the race. These would not only allow some of the other teams to catch up but it would make for a more interesting race. The Amazing Race is at its absolute best when two teams intersect and are frantic to beat one another. More catch ups would certainly make that more a regular occurrence.

I understand the counter-argument to this though. It's not as if Justin and Diana are cheating on The Amazing Race, at least not that we know of, they are coming in first on their own skill. This shouldn't be penalized. It doesn't matter if it makes for less interesting viewing, The Amazing Race should let Justin and Diana get what they deserve. I understand this point of view and respect it. It a fair assessment. The part of me that wants to be entertained though can't abide it. Justin and Diana need to go or fall in the rankings and soon.

But what do you think? Are Justin and Diana TOO good at The Amazing Race? Is that that the other teams are just bad? Do you enjoy watching Justin and Diana win? Do you even like them more than the other teams? Who do you think has the best chance of beating them, if anyone?

The Amazing Race season 27 airs Fridays at 8pm on CBS.

This sounds like they're basically forgetting about Davechel - it'll be interesting to see if they manage to match or even beat their record

Hamptons Fishermen on The Amazing Race Season 27 Finale
Several East End fishing boats and the local fishermen who operate them will appear on the Season 27 finale of CBS’s Emmy-winning reality contest The Amazing Race on Friday, December 11 at 8 p.m.

The show’s final episode, Leg 12, was filmed in part on Hampton Bays-based fishing boats The Outcast with Captain Kenneth Jayne and first mate Meredith Daniell; The Clover with Captain Christopher MacGuire and first mate Bob Gregor; and The Annie K with Captain Russell Brisson.

In July of 2015 the production crew of The Amazing Race approached local fishermen at the Commercial Fish Dock in Hampton Bays looking for three lobster boats to include in the filming of the program’s final challenge. Contestants, who had spent the previous 11 episodes, or “Legs,” traveling the globe and completing various physical and mental challenges, were asked to haul lobster pots on lobster boats in Shinnecock Bay. In reality, the local fishermen explained months after filming, lobster fishing is not allowed in Shinnecock Bay and the challenge was staged for the show.

Captain Jayne of local boat The Lady J—known for supplying fresh fish to local farmers markets in the Hamptons—has extensive experience as a lobsterman and was able to supply all of the equipment needed for the challenge. Captain MacGuire and Captain Brisson own tuna fishing boats. Captain Jayne says all involved were proud to lend authentic experience and equipment to the finale challenge on The Amazing Race.

Before reaching Long Island’s South Fork, The Amazing Race took contestants to locales around the world, including Venice Beach, California and Rio de Janeiro; Buenos Aires; San Antonio de Areco, Argentina; Victoria Falls along the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe; Paris, France; Rotterdam in the Netherlands; Krakow, Poland; and Agra, India. The teams will face off in Hong Kong and Macau for Leg 11 of The Amazing Race this Friday, December 4. The remaining contestants, who our local fishermen would not name, will then head to the Hamptons for Leg 12 and the show’s finale.

Watch the final teams pretend to haul lobster pots in Shinnecock Bay off Hampton Bays on CBS next Friday, December 11 at 8 p.m.

The local Long Island Suffolk county government issues a press release stating how proud they are that TAR is using them for the end of season 27.

There's not much here that we didn't already know. The most interesting section was a quote from Elise Doganieri.

“We chose to shoot the finale of The Amazing Race on Long Island because the Hamptons are a magical and unique place you cannot find anywhere else in the world,” stated Elisa Doganieri, Co-Creator of The Amazing Race and Native Long Islander. “I also grew up on Long Island, so many of the places we showcased in the finale were places where I spent my summers. The Suffolk County Film Commission was incredibly helpful working with us to find just the right locations and worked with our team to make the production progressed as smoothly as possible.  We had their full support throughout the shoot and we are extremely grateful to them.”
