The penalty actually makes sense if you think about the possibility that this was a pre-determined NEL. If Audi hadn't gotten sick and they ended up in last, then they probably would have gotten the Speed Bump. It's not a big huge deal.

What IS a big huge deal is the official website for this season. It kind of sucks. There are no team bios and no FULL NAMES for the contestants. This is a big problem to me as a wiki writer, as we've documented the full names of all Latin American contestants before this.
