Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany Wins First Emmy Award: 'I Feel So Lucky'
By Andy Swift / September 18 2016, 8:08 PM PDT
Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards gave the Clone Club much reason to rejoice.
Tatiana Maslany — best known for playing… too many characters to count, honestly — took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. It was her first Emmy win, having been nominated once before in 2015.
“I should have had this written down,” the Orphan Black star said with a laugh as she took the stage. “There are so many people I feel so indebted to.” She went on to thank the show’s creators for her “dream job,” as well as the show’s “incredible writers’ room, beautiful cast and crew.”
She concluded, “I feel so lucky to be on a show that puts women at the center. Thank you so much to the Academy. Thank you.”
Orphan Black wrapped its fourth season on BBC America this summer; its upcoming fifth season will be its last.
“I didn’t expect it at all,” Maslany told reporters backstage. “It’s such an honor. The category I’m in is all these woman I’ve looked up to so long and whose work I so admire. … I haven’t quite breathed yet since I got off the stage. Hopefully at some point it’ll sink in.”

Who’s New And Who’s Back For The Final Season Of Orphan Black
October 25, 2016 by Space
Proud new Emmy statuette owner Tatiana Maslany has just begun shooting the final season of the show that won her the Outstanding Lead Actress award—Orphan Black. As the production begins rolling in Toronto, intel on which cast members will be returning (Delphine!) and which new characters will be thrown into the mix (the allegedly ancient PT Westmoreland) is making its way to us.
Naturally, Maslany will be back heading up a Clone Club comprised of OB veterans like Jordan Gavaris, Kristian Bruun, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kevin Hanchard, Ari Millen, Josh Vokey, and Skyler Wexler. Which means that Sarah and her Leda sisters will have allies like Felix, Donnie, Mrs. S, Art Bell, and Scott backing them up—not to mention Kira’s impressive new psychic powers.
After a long fourth season of separation, Evelyne Brochu will also return—vindication for fans who never believed that Delphine really died at the end of Season 3. Following her reunion with Cosima at the end of the last season, Delphine will be back for Orphan Black’s end run. We’re going to go ahead and suggest a clone wedding party for the finale right now.
Adorable comic book store owner Hell Wizard (Calwyn Shurgold) will be back, too. So will the evil frittata chef and former Topside fixer Ferdinand (James Frain)—which probably means that Rachel didn’t meet some terrible offscreen, between-season end. Sorry, everyone.
There’s a slate of new actors joining the cast as well: Elyse Levesque (SGU Stargate Universe) will play Detective Engers, a corrupt cop in the pocket of the Neolutionists; Andrew Moodie (Covert Affairs) is Mr. Frontenac, a mysterious consultant hired by Rachel; Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience) takes on the role of Mr. Mitchell, Kira’s teacher (it’s about time that kid went to school); Jenessa Grant (Reign) will play an islander known as Mud, and Stephen McHattie (The Strain, Pontypool) is P.T. Westmoreland, the legendary and supposedly 170-year-old founder of Neolution—the man we’ve all been dying to meet.
Orphan Black will have its Season 5 premiere in the spring of 2017. Until then, catch all four previous seasons on CraveTV.
