We really shouldn't assume a 12 hour length for any pitstop. It will be the length production needs to control teams' travel options and provide means for Phil and Bertram and the other exec producers (usually Elise) a sufficient lead time to get ahead of the teams for the next leg.
Edit -- Peach and I were responding to the same thing at the same time!
