It will depend on traffic and taxi driver so you don't know Metro or Taxi is better.

Do a Congestion in Guangzhou Google image search and you will know why some teams chose to take the metro. Not only that, depending your race life on a cab driver who probably doesn't speak English sounds totally attractive to me. Teams would have properly researched how to get to the location via public metro during their waiting time in Taiwan or what and since all of them are travelling together, why not?
