If you read the tweets by Ryan Danz, they were okay with him to find a partner after Abbie and him broke up, just that I guess it's really not a choice they would rather go with.
It had to be somebody from the race on an Allstars season and I guess CBS went ahead with it because both teams were fan favourites and maybe they just really wanted Mallory on the race again.

That would make perfect sense. While unlikely, it would be fitting. Not to mention well-deserved, since those six that live close to one another would have to outlast much stronger competition.
