if you count how many actual days they race and pick the most logical day for a finale before thanksgiving you can come up with a logical time frame on when they leave
has every season always departed from LAX? if so I think since the shooting things might be tough to get out or back in on the dates prior to the big holiday.

No, racers are often gone over T-giving. They are only promised home by Christmas. And no. teams have left from allover the country.
